Alirei sighed softly, from what she wasn't sure, as he buried his face in her hair, inhaling her scent, before he fell into his vampire rest. Cold, still. Essentially defenseless. That had to be a considerable act of trust on his part, to seek rest at her side, knowing how their conversation had originated that night. Even if...even if he was her mate, she couldn't let that change anything. She didn't like vampires; as far as she had been concerned, they had no place among the Valkyries, mates or not. With a sigh, she let her eyes close, tongue brushing across a fang somewhat absently. Against her better instincts and judgement, she fell asleep cuddled up to his side, her head still laying over his heart.
The day passed surprisingly without her having to be awakened. Whether for an emergency, or council, or by her sisters. A bit before the sun set, she woke and lifted her head. Stared down into his sleeping face for a long moment, before she slipped free from the bed and redressed herself in the clothes from the previous night. Once she was dressed, she stood with her hand on the knob, but found herself unable to turn it. She couldn't do this to him, let him believe that she would have stayed til he woke, then slip out when he was resting. A somewhat ironic chuckle slipped from her lips before she decided maybe a shower would just be better. Walking into the bathroom, she stripped and slid into the shower, making sure the water was as hot as she normally liked, the mirrors and shower doors steaming up quickly.
