It was a Saturday morning in mid-December and Roxanne was sitting up stairs in her room, watching television. It was only about 9:30 so all that was on was Saturday morning cartoons. She wasn't really paying attention to them though, as she had her notebook in her lap and was doing different things on the internet. Her phone was sitting beside her on the bed, just in case her brother texted her again.

About an hour ago now, a text message she had received from her older brother had said that he would be on his way to see her in the late morning, the text message also informed her that he had had his last class for the semester yesterday and that he didn't need to return to school until about a week after the new year. It was then that Roxy texted back, telling him that she was out of class until after the new year had that their parents were gone so the two of them would have the house for themselves. Not that either of them would mind, the two of them had always been close. However, she failed to tell him about her current boyfriend and how abusive he was to her. Roxy just didn't want to cause problems and telling him news like that certainly would do just that.

As Roxanne waited for a test message back Roxanne moved the computer out of her lap and stood up, walking over to her full length mirror and examining her reflection. On most of her exposed skin, which was on her arms, hands, feet and from her upper chest up were bruises and cuts and most of them looked fresh. She was wearing a pair of long pajama bottoms that were light blue with different colored crescent moons and shooting stars on them and she was wearing a black tank top. "I can't let him see me like this." She thought to herself and walked over to her bed, picking up the 'Shinedown' hoodie that he had gotten her earlier this year as a birthday gift and slipped it on. Now the only one that was visible was on her cheek and she could come up with an excuse for that one. Roxanne was Nineteen and had chocolate brown hair that was long and curly and she had beautiful Emerald Green eyes that seemed to almost glow when the light hit them just right. After she was satisfied that most of her bruises and cuts were hidden she took her phone and computer, heading down stairs after shutting off her television off. She wanted to be the first thing he saw when he walked in. As she waited for him she glanced at the dragon ring of his that he had left with her before leaving. She always wore it on her thumb.

Adam could not have been more excited to come home and see his little sister after almost an entire year away from his home. As he looked onto the long, winding road, hands gripping the steeering wheel and humming to the song that blared out of the radio. He tilted his head back to slip his glasses farther back up his nose, his hair short and shaggy as to not get in the way of his sight. His attire was simple, a pair of torn and beaten up jeans, a simple T-Shirt over his chest and bright green eyes of his own.

He was honestly excited to get home to his little sister. At the knowledge that he was going to be alone with her for a while. He couldn't wait to get home right now. He missed his family, he missed Roxanne even more. They'd been closer than anyone else into the family, doing near everthing together.

And that was what stemmed his own confusing feelings he had about her. Not so much confusing, but he knew for a fact that, well, for lack of a better word, he was in love with his sister.

Sick? Yes. Wrong? Maybe. Did he care? Absolutely not.

So, looking up at the familiar house he pulled into the drive way and turned the car off, standing up and taking a breath.

It was good to be home.

By the time he had finally pulled into the driveway it had began to snow outside and they were supposed to get about a foot on snow. Roxanne didn't have the television on so when he pulled into the driveway and got out of the car she heard him. Roxy set the computer on the couch before getting up and going over to the door, slipping her shoes on before opening the the door and heading outside to see him. "Adam!" She yelled excitedly before half running to him, wrapping her arms around him once she reached him. Roxy had missed him so much since he had left to go back for another year of school and that was almost a year ago. "Do you need any help getting your things inside?" She asked, not going to let go of him until she had to. In the back of her mind as she hugged her older brother she hoped he didn't notice it just yet as she hadn't come up with a believable story as to why she got it. Of course, his feelings weren't one sided, but she was far too shy to tell him for fear that he would reject her. That and she didn't believe that even if he felt the same way that she could ever make him truly happy.

He expected her to nearly tackle him, and of course his assumptions were founded upon it seemed. He grinned a little bit an wrapped his arms around her in return, mumbling about how much he missed her as well. When asked if he needed help, he just shook his head, replying, "Nah, I only have a few bags." he said as he released her, reluctantly, and went to his trunk. "You go back inside, I'll be in in literalyl a second." he said, pulling out a decent sized bag and hefted it over his shoulder, grunting as it dug into his shoulder and grabbed his suitcase.

Roxy smiled when she felt Adam's arms wrap around her in return, what made her smile even more was when she heard him mumbling as how much he had missed her. "If you're sure." She said, picking up on the reluctance as he released her before going to the trunk of his car to get his things. "What, afraid I'm going to turn freeze to death?" She teased before turning around to go back inside. "I'm going." She said, making her way back to the door and inside to wait for him as he had told her to. "Good, he hasn't noticed the bruise yet." She thought to herself, trying to think of a believable reason as she waited for him to come inside.

"Well you are a frail little thing." he called back to her as he shut the trunk, at least with a little effort and trudged back up the steps to their house. He finally got his bags in and grunted, shutting the door behind him and sighed, smiling and taking a glance around the house. "God it's good to be home." he mumbled to both himself and Roxanne.

Roxanne looked up from her computer, which was sitting on her lap once again when Adam walked through the front door. "I bet you are glad Mom and Dad aren't here, too." She wasn't just saying that because the two of them had more freedom when they were home alone, either. It seemed every time he came home from school they asked him a million questions. Of course, one of them being if he had met a girl he would like to settle down yet with. Their parents had no idea what kind of feelings their children had for each other. "By the way, one more thing. In no way am I a 'fragile little thing'." She added, expecting him to ask about the fresh bruise on her cheek anytime now.

"Heh, that bruise on your cheek says otherwise." he said on an offhand comment, pointing to it as if it didn't really matter. She was delicate, she was expected to get a few bumps and bruises over her lfie, especially when they were little and they woudl rough house. He looked up at the wall as a bit of a sneaking suspicion began to creep into his heart.

Slowly, he turned back to her. "Hey...Roxy...' he said slowly as he walked over to her. Grabbing her cheek, he forced her to look up at him and tilted her head to the side, getting a better look at the dark blue and purple mark. He frowned. "How...did you get that?" He asked, suspiciously.

Roxanne was caught off guard when Adam made an offhand comment about the fresh bruise that was on her left cheek she looked down and as she did she regretted it, knowing that her reaction to his comment told her brother that the mark was much more than the result of her rough housing with somebody. When she heard his feet his the carpeted floor as he turned back to her she didn't look up the floor. "Yes, Adam?" She asked, watching his feet as he slowly made his way over to her. When he reached her she was still looking down at the floor rather then up at him. Then, when he grabbed her cheek she winced, trying to fight him as he forced her to look up at him and tilted her head to the side so he could get a better at the dark mark on her cheek that was so fresh that it hadn't even begun the healing process. "Don't touch it, please." She said, only helping confirm his suspicions that this was the result of much more than just some teenagers being too rough with each other. "I..." She paused, trying to remember what little she had come up with to explain the story behind it. "It's nothing, Adam." She lied, knowing that he would only question her further until he was given an acceptable answer.

He frowned and crossed his arms in front of him, as older brothers were apt to do when younger siblings were spouting bullshit. "You don't get something that bad from "nothing". he said to her, his eyebrow cocked and his voice holding back some semblance of rationality. "Something happened and I want to know now Roxy, you know yu can't hide that kind of stuff from me."

"I already told you it was nothing, Adam." She said, clearly not going to give him the answer as to what really happened any time soon. She looked at him, seeing his eyebrow cocked she knew he wasn't going to give up until he knew the truth. "Cross your arms like that and look at me like that all you want, I don't have to tell you a damn thing." She said, standing up from the couch she picked up her phone and stuffed it in the pocket of her hoodie. "I'm going upstairs." She said, half expecting him to rise from the couch and grab her by the arm to keep her there. This was a totally new thing for both of them, never had either one of them purposely hid something from the other.

He frowned and watched as she disappeared up the stairs. He'd find the answer out eventually. Right now, he felt like relaxing and unwinding before he got himself thrown into anymore drama. Whoeever hit her, however, he was just going to murder. Simple as that.

Roxanne made her way up the stairs, quite shocked that he hadn't rushed to grab her by the arm and keep her there so he could continue to demand the truth from her. Once she was at the top of the stairs Roxy looked down them to see what Adam was doing. When he saw he hadn't moved and was sitting on the couch where he had been when she had gotten up. She then just want to her room, closing her door behind her but not bothering to lock it. She then walked over to her bed and took her phone out of the hoodie pocket, tossing it on the bed before taking the hoodie off and tossing it onto the bed as well. Roxanne then went over to to her mirror and stared at her reflection, looking over all the other bruises and scratches that were now visible without the hoodie on. "How am I going to tell him what's going on?" She asked herself.

It would seem relaxation was an impossible thing right now. Despite lazing about on the couch, he wondered about her bruise. That wasn't something someone gets just walking into a door. That was something got from getting hit in the face. With force. He frowned a ltitle bit and crossed his arms, wondering and pondering what could have happened to her. She never would tell him what actually happened, so he just needed to do a bit of sluething, ti would seem...

Roxanne sighed, spending a few more moments gazing at her reflection and over all the bruises and cuts that were on her before taking off the tank top she had on, revealing even more marks on her torso. Including one that covered most of the area above her rib cage that was almost black and it as a fresh one, too. Clearly that one had had enough force behind it to at least crack, maybe even break a few ribs. From the looks of it, it seemed she was lucky not to be in the Intensive Care Unit of the closest hospital. She shook her head before going over to her closet and taking out a black t-shirt before slipping it on. "At least for the next few weeks, while Adam is here Brad won't get the chance to lay a hand on me and these will have time to heal." She thought to herself. Roxy walked back over to her bed, picking up the hoodie and slipping it on over her head so that her arms were covered. She then slipped her phone back into the pocket, made her way out of her bedroom and headed down stairs. "I think I'm going for a short walk." She said, glancing at him as she passed him on the way to get her shoes. When she glanced at him she noticed, or thought she noticed a worried look on his face.

"I'll come with." he said almost immediately as he leapt to his feet. He was still wearing his attire from when he arrived. He didn't both with the hoodie or the jacket, because as long as he could remember, winter was 'his' season, nothing about it could ruin it. In fact he RELISHED in the cold. He walked up to her and opened the door. He quickly discarded the worried look and replaced it with a smile, just to try and lul her into a false sense of security.

"Been too long since we hung out, and I only have a week after all."

"Yeah, well we would hang out more if you picked a school that wasn't so far away." She teased, smiling weakly at him. Roxanne was glad to see the smile on his face, despite knowing what he was just trying to get information out of her. "Thanks." She said, when he opened the door for her and she walked outside, beginning to head to the driveway and down to the sidewalk. "You know, Adam, if you are just coming to try and get some confession of what you think really happened out of me, it isn't going to happen." Roxy said, wanting to make sure he knew that she was sticking to her story.

"Oh come on, if I'm gonna be home I may as well hang out with my baby sister!" he said, defensively. Yes, he did want to come with her in the hops that he would get some answers from her, but even then he'd be able to hang out with her. That's one of the main reasons he came home: Her. Just being around her was enough to make him happy, despite his own conflicting emotions and the fact he knew she would never return them, but just being around he was good too. Really, as long as he had her, what else did he need?

When she made it to the drive way and came to his car she leaned up against it, watching him with her Emerald Green eyes. She knew that she was breaking down, even without him really trying. "Do you really wanna know what happened and do you want to see all of it?" She asked, expecting to see a look of worry and fear when she mentioned that there was more of them. "Look, Adam, I did lie to you earlier when I said this one was just from rough housing." She said, now looking at the ground as she said it, ashamed that she felt like she had to hide things from him. "I'm sorry I lied." Roxanne apologized. "Maybe part of me thought you would think less of me if you knew the truth." She added, still being vague with the details of what happened.

See all of it? he thought to himself as he stood beside her, his expression turning from content to concern, turning his entire body to face her, narrowing his eyes as she said he had been lying to him. Finally, he grabbed her shoulders, gently.

"Roxy>" he said, sternly, as big brother often did. "What's happened? What's wrong?"

Roxanne glanced up at Adam just in time to see the expression on his fade shift from content to concern. She continued to keep her eyes on him as he turned to face her and she saw his eyes narrow when what she said had registered with his brain, that she had been lying to him. Then, even as he grabbed her by the shoulders with the most gently of touches, Roxanne wince. "Look, Adam, can we go inside. I think it would be easier to show you everything before actually explaining how it all happened. Even now, as she looked at Adam she looked like she was about to burst into tears. "The good news is Mom and Dad aren't beating me." She said, trying to lighten the mood a bit and trying to get him to smile.

He didn't find it funny. He knew mom and dad wouldn't hurt Roxanne, never in a million years. He opened the door and forced her inside, wanting answers and wanting answers now. "Roxy." he said. "This isn't a laughing matter. Who is hurting you like this?" He was scared and infuriated. Scared because his darling little sister was being beaten. Infuriated because he was about to murder someone painfully for beating his little sister.

Roxanne sighed, not fighting him when he forced her back into the house. She could tell me wanted answers and that he wanted them now. "You think I'm stupid enough to tell you the guy's name?" Roxanne asked, pulling away from him once they were inside and turning around, so that she was facing him, watching him as he closed the front door. "You aren't getting his name for one reason, I know you'll be on him like a wolf on it's prey and I don't want to be visiting you in jail for the rest of my life Adam." She said. "Look, do you want to see them before you start asking questions?" Roxanne asked, ready to begin peeling off her clothes to show him all the damage that had been done.

His eyes widened and he clapped his hand in front of his eyes, his blush rising to his cheeks as he cleared his throat. A sudden thought crossed hjis mind, one that filled him with dread. Gulping, he asked, "Roxy, did someone rape you?"

Roxanne took her hoodie off, throwing it on the couch so that e could see all the marks on her arms. "Adam." She said, looking over at him to see one of his hands covering his eyes. "You really don't want to know the answer to that question. Even if someone did, I'm dealing with it." She said, although by the sheer amount of bruises on her arms alone, it was clear that she wasn't. "Look at me, Adam." She almost demanded as she could tell a feeling of dread was filling him. "Tell me what's on your mind, my wolf." She said, calling him what she used to when she was little. Roxanne walked over to him, taking his hands gently in her's so that he was forced to look at her.
