The Day Before You (closed for MoonlightRomance and Josu_T)

Tim shrugged. "Maybe. We'll see soon enough." He kissed her cheek as they went down the stairs together. He could hear his parents both in the livingroom. Just before going in he reluctantly let go of Roxy's hand. He flashed a smile at her and entered the room. He quickly went to take a seat on the couch. His dad was in his chair and his mother was on the other sofa. There was plenty of space for Roxanne to sit next to him. His parents greeted both of them and made sure they were settled back in their rooms. Tim then asked them about their past few days. They started to explain that it had been normal for them once they had cleared the path and the driveway. They had been able to eventually get a way out of the house and then things weren't too bad. Luckily the power hadn't gone out on their block. Someone had been able to keep the power lines clear of ice and kept the transformer from freezing.

When they had told all they could Tim glanced at Roxy and smiled. Then he looked at his parents again. "Well, we have some big news. As of a few days ago we are an official couple." He reached over and took his girlfriend's hand.

Roxanne smiled as he kissed her cheek as they walked down the stairs and as the two of them neared the bottom of the stairs she watched as he reluctantly let go of her hand. When he flashed her a smile she smiled back before letting him enter the living room first before following and taking a seat beside him on the couch. When his parents asked asked how they were settling in she told them she was settling in great before Tim asked how they had held up during the storm, simply listening as the two explained.

When they were done and Tim glanced at Roxanne and smiled, she smiled back and watched as he looked at his parents again. "My parents don't know yet." She began as she looked across the room to his parents. "They are out of town on one of Dad's business trips and won't be back for a few more days." Roxy added, trying to act as if everything was normal between her parents and her, hoping that Tim's parents couldn't pick up that something was wrong. They certainly knew her well enough to know when something was bothering her. When Tim reached over and took his hand she squeezed it gently, sure that he could tell she was beginning to tense up some.

Tim saw that his parents were quite happy for them. There seemed to be a little surprise in their eyes, but he wasn;t sure if it was because they were actually surprised they were together. His father gave a nod of understanding when Roxy explained that her parents didn't know yet. It seemed he had been sure that when Tim and Roxy started to date her parents would be the last to know. They didn't pick up on Roxy's nervousness when discussing her family. He was glad that they would be able to wait until after dinner to explain that. He gently squeezed Roxy's hand back to let her know he was there for her. He shifted in his seat so he was sitting right next to her. He let go of her hand and wrapped that arm around her. Then he held her hand again with his other. He leaned against her and got comfortable. His mother smiled at them as if they were the cutest thing she had ever seen. He rolled his eyes but stayed right there. His parents started to ask a few questions about what had happened that made them finally admit it to eachother.

It made Roxanne smile to see that his parents were happy for the two of them, the twinkle of surprise in both of their eyes told her they hadn't had the slightest idea before now that the two were a couple. She knew the surprise wasn't because they were a couple, in fact she was certain it was because Tim and her had finally decidedto become a couple after so many years. When Tim's Father gave a nod of understand she was glad, he had always seemed to understand how her home life was much better than Tim or his Mother did. In fact, the only time Tim had seen any evidence of her Father's abuse on her she had told his Dad what was really going on at home.

Roxy found herself thankful when his parents didn't ask anything about her Mother and Father, it meant that the more serious topic could wait until after dinner. When Tim gently squeezed her hand it seemed to relax her a little as well as push whatever thoughts of her parents that had began to creep into her head to the back of her mind for now. Roxy's eyes watched him as he shifted in his seat so that he was more comfortable. As he let go of her hand for a moment to wrap one arm around her before using his free hand to take hold of her hand once again. When he then leaned against her it added to her relaxation and made her feel safe. "We do make an amazing couple." She whispered softly to him as he rolled his eyes at the way his Mother way his Mom was acting. At her question she turned her gaze away from Tim to look at them "for me... I just wanted it to happen after years of waiting and had every intention to tell him about my real feelings for him if he hadn't beat me to it." She said with a smile. Sure, she knew it probably sounded somewhat cheesey but it wasz the truth.

Tim felt Roxy relax more when he was close and he smiled at her little comment. The four of them chatted about a lot of different things until his mother needed to go take everything out of the oven. The meal was nearly ready. A minute later his father got up and went to help. Tim kissed Roxanne on the cheek and slowly got up. He figured he should do what he could to help as well. Within a few minutes with everyone's help they had the table set with their meal. It looked wonderful. Tim took his seat across from Roxy with his parents on either side. They got settled and it was time to have Christmas dinner as a family. He smiled across the table at his girlfriend, happy to have her there with him.

Roxanne watched as Tim's mother left the room to attend to the food that needed taken out of the oven. Her eyes followed his Father as he left the room to help. When Tim leaned in and kissed her on the cheek she smiled and followed as he slowly stood after both letting go of her hand and removing his arm from around her. When the table was set with their meal, it did indeed look wonderful and took her usual seat beside his Mother while his Father and him sat across from him. When Tim smiled at her, she smiled back but seemed to be struggling with being affectionate towards him. While his parents had clearly approved of their new relationship she wasn't sure if they would approve or look down upon them showing affection in front of them. She also was quite self conscious, not wanting them to think differently of her now that her relationship with their son had changed.

The dished out the food and got started on the meal. Tim was able to really relax and enjoy the time with his family. Unlike Roxy he wanted his parents to think of her differently. At least a little. He still wanted them to see her as their daughter, but in a slightly different way. He had no problem showing how he felt about her in front of them. As the meal went on they talked about a lot of different things. The topic of their relationship wasn't a big one. He was glad his parents weren't determined to find out every little detail about what had happened and what they had planned. As the meal came to an end Time looked at Roxy, wondering if it might be time to tell his parents about her father and ask if she could stay long term. He wasn't about to bring it up on his own though. It was her choice whether they did or did not say anything.

As the meal was coming to an end Roxanne looked into Tim's eyes for a moment as he looked at her, sure that he saw both the nervousness in them and that she was unsure about when and how to bring the situation with her parents up. No matter how she thought about bring it up she couldn't help but feel like they were springing too much on them in one night. She knew they needed to tell them, though. After a few moments she thought it might be better to simply talk to his Dad, since she had told him of her home life before but she didn't want to make Tim or his Mother feel as if she couldn't talk to them about it. Roxanne then looked back to Tim, the expression in her eyes one that seemed to be asking if he thought tonight was the right time to tell them.

Tim saw the look in Roxanne's eyes and he nodded. They needed to tell both his parents. They couldn't wait. They had to say it that night so they could move her things in the next day. The longer they waited the bigger the chance was that her parents would arrive back in town and mess everything up. He looked at his father and then his mother. "So, we were wondering if Roxy could stay in the guest room longer than she normally does. I won't go into details if she doesn't want to, but she needs somewhere to stay. We figured this would be the best place for her. She already has so much of her stuff here and we can clear out space in the garage for her car. I know it might be awkward asking this now that we are a couple, but we wouldn't be asking if there wasn't a good reason for it." He looked at Roxy and smiled softly. He had done what he felt needed to be done. He hoped she didn't mind.

Roxanne watched Tim as she spoke, for most of the time he talked she couldn't bring herself to react at all. In fact, it wasn't until Tim was through speaking that she found the strength to talk. "Tim, they have a right to know what's going on she said before turning her gaze to his parents. She took a deep breath as an attempt to calm her before speaking. "My Dad... He's abusive. Both emotionally and physically. It's been going on since the time I was seven or so. That one time about five months ago Tim saw bruises and scratches on most of my body and made me tell you guys... They were from my Dad. Truth is, that was the first and only time Tim or anyone for that matter saw anything." She then paused and looked at them, trying to read their reactions but couldn't. "Please... I wouldn't be asking or rather allowing Tim to ask if it wasn't bad; if I could handle my parents myself while living at home and I would have never allowed him to even suggest it if you guys weren't family to me." She said, stopping and although no more needed to be said she was sure they understood how bad it was. Hell, if her Father kept beating on her she knew their may be a day when he had been so violent with her that she didn't wake up. Her gaze then returned to Tim, she wasn't mad at him for initiating the conversation, and now that the real truth about her home life was known to the three of them she seemed... Calmer. As she awaited an answer from his parents her hand found his under the table and held it.

Tim smiled over at Roxy, proud of her for taking the step to actually say something. He watched his parents carefully to see their reactions. He reached across the table and took Roxanne's hand. His father seemed to understand right away and looked at his mother. The older woman looked shocked to find out about it. Once she recovered from her surprise and disgust she nodded to her husband and then moved to hug Roxy. "Oh sweetie, of course you can stay here. As long as you need to. We'll make sure your father doesn't lay even a finger on you. Just tell us what we can do to help and what you need here. We'll make sure this realy feels like home for you." Tim gave her hand a gentle squeeze and smiled at her. His father seemed to agree with his mother.

As Tim reached across the table and took her hand she smiled back at him, glad that he was proud of her for actually saying something rather than letting him do all of the talking. When his Mother recovered from her surprise and disgust with Roxy's parents and moved to hug her, Roxanne hugged back. "Hopefully you two won't nor Tim will have to do much making sure he never touches me again. Tim and I decided earlier that after all my things are out of the house we're going to file a police report. They won't be able to prosecute my Dad or anything but it would serve as grounds for a restraining order against both my Mom and Dad. I don't need anything here, Mom. At least once my things are here I don't think I will. After all, I don't want to trouble you guys." She said, returning to calling his parents "Mom" and "Dad" like she had for years now and half expecting both Tim and his Dad to insist that making her comfortable was no inconvenience to them. "Mom.. There's nothing that needs done to make me feel at home here, I have considered this my home and you guys my real family for years now."

His dad seemed pleased that they were taking the step of going to the police. His mother thought for a moment and realised that they already had things set up for Roxy. She always kept the girl's favorite foods in the house. They had everything she might need set up for her because she already spent so much time there. The only difference would be that it would officially be her home. His mother got up and returned to her seat. A minute later they were all enjoying dessert. after they were all done eating his parents both left them so that he and Roxy could have a moment alone. He moved to her and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. He kissed her tenderly and then smiled. "See? That was even easier than I thought. Tomorrow we'll get everything from your house and bring it here and you can get settled here at home."

When Tim's parents left so that the two of them could be alone for a moment after desert was through Roxanne smiled at Tim as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her body close to his. Then when he kissed her, she kissed him back tenderly before looking up at him. "I expected it to be a lot harder." She admitted. "I guess I thought that as soon as they found out about us that they would no longer see me as their daughter." She added, what Roxanne didn't seem to realize was that she had been considered a part of his family from the time they were in grade school and now that the two were about to graduate high school and finally decided to pursue the relationship they both wanted, that wasn't going to change their feelings for her. "We should probably be over there by around one. I never did listen to that voice mail my dad left and knowing how fast he can drive he will plan on being home by tomorrow evening to make sure you haven't corrupted me or something." She said, rolling her eyes at her parents thinking of Tim being a bad influence on her. "Tim, babe, I love you and I'm so thankful for both having you as my best friend and soul mate and having your family as my own." She said before kissing him.

Tim looked into her eyes happily and smiled into her kiss. When their lips parted he still held her close. He agreed that they should be over at her house as early as possible. He would leave as soon as the garage was ready to take her car. He rested his forehead against hers and relaxed with her in his arms. "I love you so much. I'm the luckiest man who ever lived because I have you. Now, what should we do this evening? I don't feel like spending all my time talking to my parents. Now that they know everything they might start asking a lot of questions. I just don't feel like that would be a lot of fun. I know you said you don't want to do naughty things in this house. At least not when my parents are around, but is holding eachother and kissing a lot something naughty? Because I think right now I feel like going upstairs and just spending the rest of the night with you in my arms."

Roxanne sighed as his forehead rested against her's and as he held her remained relaxed in his arms. "And I am the luckiest woman to have you." She said softly. When he asked what they should do tonight Roxanne tried to think of what they could do together while listening to what he was saying. Roxy knew he was right and while she couldn't blame his parents for being curious answering some rather serious questions that would have to do with the things her Father had done to her over the years wasn't something she was looking forward to, especially when they did go to file a police report it would be the same kind of questions the cops would ask and of course her family life was a sore subject for her already. "Holding and more or less making out is not naughty, my love. I love to spend the rest of the night in your arms. If you want we could pop in a movie or something." She suggested, though after watching movies on and off for several days straight she would understand if he objected the idea.

Tim shook his head and smiled. "No movie to distract us. Just the two of us." He kissed her softlyand then picked her up. With her in his arms he went right to the stairs and made his way up to the second floor. He took her into his room and kicked the door shut behind the. He set her down carefully on his bed with a smile. He was next to her just a moment later. His arms kept her close and his lips pressed against hers. He didn't mind if they didn't have sex. He just wanted to have that quiet time together. He started kissing her over and over, enjoying the taste of her lips and the feel of her body against his. His eyes drifted shut and he let the moment overtake him.

"I won't object to just the two of us." She said with a smile before kissing him back. When he picked her up it took her by surprise, she let out a squeal but tried to keep it from being so loud, not wanting his parents to think that something was wrong. As he held her in his arms and carried her up the stairs she rested her head on his shoulder and looked up at him. Once they were up on the second floor she watched as he took her into his room and used his foot to kick the door shut behind them. When she was carefully sat down on his bed she smiled up at him. When he was next to her a moment later she didn't wait for him to either invite her or pull her closer to him but rather moved closer to him so that there was just a little space between them. When his arms finally did wrap around her and pull her even closer to hi she smiled as his lips pressed against her's and kissed him back. Before the kisses became too passionate she moved her mouth close to his ear. "Now, my love, if you wish to spoil and fuss over me like you insist on doing with your princess, you have my full permission." She whispered into his ear before pulling back and allowing their kissing to resume. This time as their kissing became more heated and passionate she didn't pull away, like him she simply let her eyes drift shut and allowed herself to live in the moment.

As they kissed no other words were needed and when they were connected both emotionally and physically like this, to the point that it would seem to anyone that would watch them together that they could almost communicate telepathically there was no need for sex. No, all that mattered to her was achieving that feeling of being in sync with Tim; as soul mates should be.

Tim smiled, glad she was actually giving him permission to treat her like a princess. He usually did it anyway without permission, but having it for once was a nice change. As they continued simply enjoying being together he got a sense of connection that he had only ever felt with her. She belonged with him and he belonged with her. They truly made the perfect pair. No one, not even her parents, could change that or make him feel any different. He loved her with all his heart. Over time he slowly pulled her back until they were laying together on the bed. For the first time they were there on his bed rather than hers. He wasn't pushing toward sex. It was just more comfortable to lay down together. There was a point where he thought he heard soft footsteps stop outside his room and then continue a moment later. Whichever of his parents it had been either decided they weren't in there or knew what they were doing and decided not to say anything.

While she knew Tim didn't need her permission to treat her how he insisted she deserved to be she knew her words would be something he wasn't expecting as usually she was saying just the opposite. As the two of them simply continued to be together without any distractions to pull their attention from each other Roxanne found it impossible to be anything but relaxed as she focused on the two of them, even forgetting about his parents until she too could hear soft foot steps pause for a moment outside his room before continuing down the hall. The fact that she knew they had this unbreakable bond both physical and emotional and an unwavering love to match made her feel sure that despite it taking so long for both of them to admit they wanted to move on to the next step and be more than friends that one day they would get married and would spend the rest of their lives together and nobody could even begin to change that. As he slowly pulled them back so the two of them were eventually laying in his bed she found laying down helped her relax further and it felt more comfortable. "Babe, I love you with all of my heart and soul and I want to say thank you for still being here with me and wanting to be with me despite all we've had to deal with already."

Tim smiled and gently shook his head. "You don't need to thank me. I am yours and yours alone. Nothing will ever change that. I will always want to be with you because I belong by your side. Together we can work through anything that comes our way. Together we will always be." He pressed his lips to hers again and held them there, not letting her speak any more. He pulled her even closer and fully relaxed with her. From then on the only time his lips parted from hers was when he needed to catch his breath. He heard footsteps past his door a few more times, but the didn't stop like they had the first time. He felt sure that his parents were leaving them alone and he was glad.

Roxanne was about to reply to him when Tim pressed his lips to her's once again, effectively quieting her. As he pulled her even closer she used one hand to run her fingers through her hair as they kissed while the other remained at her side, doing nothing. When their lips would occasionally part ways long enough for each of them to catch their breath she would look into his eyes, seeing all the love and passion in them that she had began to notice ever since they had become an official couple. She too heard foot steps out in the hall several more times but was glad to know that his parents didn't feel the need to watch their every move like her parents would. Each time their lips met Roxy's kissed seemed to be even more passionate than the time before.

Tim felt the increasing passion in the kiss from Roxy. He loved it. He moved a hand and took hold of one of hers. He continued holding her and kissing her until he heard his mother's voice outside his door. "Good night you two. Don't stay up too long. You have a big day tomorrow. Get some sleep." That was all she said as she could be heard walking past the room. He was sure she was heading to bed herself. He smiled and looked at his girlfriend. "I guess we should get some sleep. We need to clear space in the garage and then we need to get all of your things. But, do you really think you need to sleep in your bed? I want you here with me. I'll feel so alone without you next to me." He faked a pout and looked at her with the best puppy dog eyes he could make. A moment later he grinned, laughed, and kissed her. When he pulled back again he looked a little more serious again. "I do mean it. I'd like you here. But you do what you feel you need to or want to."

When their lips parted ways as his Mother could be heard just outside his bedroom door Roxanne looked up at him before letting out a small yawn, which actually sounded more like a half squeak half yawn and it was evidence that she was beginning to grow sleepy. "Well, I don't need to. It would be quite lonely for both of us, being in bed all alone and I think we both know my place is in bed next to you with my head on your chest and you holding me." She said with a smile. At Tim's fake pout and his best puppy dog eyes she couldn't help but smile. Then a moment later when he laughed, she laughed with him before kissing him back. "Babe, you know you don't need to give me the puppy dog eyes to get me to stay. Although you do have some adorable puppy dog eyes." She said. "I know, Tim and that's why I'm going to sleep in here tonight because I want to. May I go change into something more.... Comfortable first, though, or is my prince holding his princess prisoner?" She asked, at the last sentence her tone being joking and playful.

Tim smiled at her and kissed her just one more time. Then he slowly unwrapped his arms from her. "Yes, of course you can. But if you don't come back I'll be very unhappy." He smiled and kissed her cheek, then sat up in bed. When Roxy had gone out of his room he got up and started to get changed himself. He got out of his clothes from the day and pulled on underwear and light pants better for sleeping. He decided to stay shirtless. He sat on his bed and waited for Roxanne to return and join him for the night. He was looking forward to having her there with him for the night. His eyes were locked on the door. He didn't even bother to check the time. He knew simply that it was about time to get some sleep.
