RE: LA EYE'S ( Case of the Innocent Murderer ) ( Katy & Crimson )
Samantha left her apartment at about 8.00. She was actually intending to go to the office first but as she drove she thought there was not much point. Matt should be at home, but of course he wouldn’t be. If Samantha went in and found him, then they’d have a row and as usual he would take no notice. Add to that the fact that Jill Monroe’s place was this side of town. There was no point in driving all the way downtown only to have to come back out here. She pulled up in front of a small coffee shop she knew, popped inside a fetched herself a large cup and then came back to the car where she checked in the files to find Jill’s specific address. After that she pulled out her street map and checked the directions. Ten minutes later, she had finished her coffee and so she pulled back out into the morning traffic and headed for the relatively new residential area of West Hollywood.
Samantha pulled up outside the house a little after 9.00am. It was pleasant enough. Medium sized family houses all with relatively fresh paint and properly manicured gardens. There were very few cars around and she assumed that most of the men of the houses would be at work. Of course some of the women would be out too. During the war, a lot of them had been required to make their contribution to the war effort and in so doing they had found their independence; an independence many of them had not wanted to give up once their husbands came home. Or didn’t.
She walked up the driveway of the Monroe household and knocked on the door. Initially there didn’t appear to be any signs of life inside, but after the second knock a young woman nervously approached the door. Samantha guessed it was Jill on the basis of how old she looked. She was reluctant to let her in at first, but Samantha told her she wanted to help. Told her that her and her partner were looking to help the police catch the man who had killed her friends...her boyfriend.
Three cups of coffee, a handfull of tissues and two hours later, Samantha left expressing her thanks and promising her that they would find the person who did it. As she climbed back into her car, she knew what Matt's instinct had told him right from the start. Jill had told her she had gone round to see the Coach because her boyfriend, Eric had asked her to pick up some forms for him. the Coach lived only a few blocks away. the coach had then plied her with drink and raped her. Everything Jill said he'd done was entirely consistent with his record. Jill hadnt told the police; she had been too scared that the Coach would kill her, but she had told her boyfriend Eric. It was because of this that Eric had quit the team; throwing away his chances for a college scholarship in the process. On the night of the murders, Eric had called Jill. Told her that he was going to see the coach and thast he was going to tell him that they were going to the police. Eric wasnt going to let him get away with this. Jill had begged him not to, but Eric had assured her that everythng would be ok.
Where the other two came into this right now, Samantha didnt know. But the person she wanted to speak to was the Coach. Matt had told her to avoid him. she leaned over and opened the glove box, pulling out her firearm, checking it was loaded and pushing it in her pocket. The she fired up the car and headed to the Coach's place. Maybe she could get a confession straight away; maybe she could get this case done one way or another sooner rather than later.
