Mysterious Jungle

Dahlia nodded. "When I heard the gun go off I decided to come and find you. Makai these are not researchers, they're poachers. I don't know them." she said. She hadn't thought Makai would demand an explanation from her but felt that it was better to be on the safe side and establish that she was not responsible for any damage done to the forest. "Poachers are dangerous, what they do is illegal, it wouldn't be safe to try and reason with them," she said, hoping he wouldn't get any ideas about making her negotiate with them.

The ancient watched the woman while he listened to what she had to say. She really didn’t need to explain anything because he already made up his mind that she was telling him the truth when she said she was here because she was a researcher. When she began to explain the poachers to him he nodded his head. “I know all about them already Dahlia… I just wanted to be sure my people weren’t going to attack you, but it looks like Saii beat me here.” Moving closer he reached out a clawed hand and caressed the side of her cheek with the back of his hand. “Are you sure you’re alright?” He asked again, concern clearly written in his exotic eyes. He knew what Saii was like when it came to humans and because this was her first time meeting him he wasn’t so sure intimidating her was all he did.

Dahlia nodded, relief flooding through her as he explained that he already knew of poachers. She placed her smaller hand over his. "I'm not hurt," she said. "Just a little unsettled," she gave him a brazen smile to show him that she could handle whatever was thrown at her.

Makai grinned at her brazen smile and returned a smile of warmth. “Alright… I just wanted to be sure.” He slowly tugged his hand out from under hers and moved back a bit to give her space but also to keep himself in check.

“I’m going to go see what’s going on… but I think you should remain in your hut until things settle down.” Even though he suggested such a thing he didn’t want to leaver her alone. Saii was ricking more than his title by tresting her like the enemy but what if other leaders were woke up?

He wasn’t sure how the others would react to the humans and honestly he didn’t want to know. Allowing the other leaders to continue to hibernate was a good decision. He pushed his thoughts to the back of his head then bid his… the human farewell and went in the direction of the noise.

The naga that left the village scattered once they entered the deeper sections of the jungle. It didn’t take long to find the humans but when Makai arrived on site there was only three humans left alive. “Bring them to the village.” He said in a low hiss.

Dahlia returned to her tent, she was starting to wish that he would allow her to stay near him rather than always making her wait for him to come back. What if something happened and he got himself killed? She was certain that the other Naga would turn on her and probably kill her...Dahlia's situation was far more precarious than she would have liked it to be....

....

Zeke wiggled around in his bonds, when he'd come hunting today the last thing he'd expected to see was a giant snake man, much less a whole troop of them. He was tied to Nicky and Roper, the latter of which had pissed himself by the smell of the air. Stupid, dime a dozen merc. He knew he should have hired local hunters. He was in no doubt that these snake men would probably kill him, his rifle was gone and most of his crew was dead. The poacher wondered if maybe there was a chance at reasoning with these snakes.

Suddenly he found himself picked up and dragged away. Where were they taking him? "Oi! Where we goin' then?! What you gonna do with me?!" he demanded.

The naga warrior that had the human twisted in his tail ignored the man as he continued to follow his redheaded leader back to the village. Once there the humans were tossed onto the ground in the middle of the village. Circling around them the other naga observed the humans while they watched Makai slither around the three. He kept his posture straight and his shoulders broad as he glared down at the bound men. He then stopped moving and bent at the waist so he would bring his face intimidatingly close to theirs.

“Who gave you the right to stomp through my jungle and kill as you please?” He asked in English although some of the words were slightly accented. Saii had returned to the village at some point but he didn’t dare go near Makai or his precious human. He did however have plans for that lovely creature. He just needed the time to get to her and that would take some fancy wiggling on his part seeing as their wonderful leader never missed a thing.

"I ain't aware that anyone can own a jungle or it's quarry. I'm a hunter and I make me livin' offa furs and the like," said Zeke, glaring up at the snake. "I don't see wot that's got ta do with you, ain't like I'm taken your shiny skin fer meself, mate," he folded his broad tanned arms across his chest, "So ye can fuck off 'n let me go on my way and there won't be no trouble 'tween us, right?" he knew that he was being disrespectful but Ezekiel "Zeke" Jamison was not known for being a coward. Sure these snake men were amazing but he wasn't going to be cowed. Although he made a note to come back here and grab one of the younger snakelings, he would have loved to trap one and sell it as a slave to someone rich with a taste for the exotic.

The leader listened to the human babble on in what he knew was slang English that lazy humans often used. Even as he heard the man attempt to untangle this mess with words he couldn’t help but be amused with the creature. He was tough and seemed to be the type that couldn’t be rattled easy. Well then, he would just have to give him something to rattle about.

Lifting a hand Makai gave some sort of signal to a male naga warrior behind one of the humans. The creature licked his lips then just like a scene from a horror film the stretched jaws of the naga clamped down over the humans head. Bending his torso forward the serpent moved the muscles in his cheeks so his jaw would dislocate to allow his to open even wider.

Wrapping his tail around the suffocating human the snake man pulled him closer, pushing his mouth down over his shoulders one side at the time. He then moved down over his chest and when he got to his waist he clamped his jaws down hard enough to cut the man in half. He then finished one half, allowing the bulk of the humans body to slide down to his first stomach before he devoured the rest.

The redhead watched the blood splatter across the ground when the warrior bit the man in half. He hadn’t blinked or moved an inch in any way since the human spoke to him but he was visibly angry. His people knew the signs of an angry leader so they did the smart thing and kept their distance from him, especially that heavy tail of his.

Dealing with one human was hard enough, especially when that human happened to get under his skin and make his loins burn with little to no effort. He just had to remind himself what pets were for and even though Dahlia was attractive he couldn’t step over the line that had been drawn long before he was born.

Shifting his weight to the right the redhead eyed the human that had spoken to him. He leaned forward and moved so his face was within inches of the human. “No trouble huh…” His lips went from an amused smirk to a devious grin. “We’ll see about that.” He hissed then raised his hand and gave the warriors another signal.

This time the men were wrapped in the tight coils of at least two tails, they were then dragged away towards the jungle and not the village. Makai knew where the warriors were taking them and he was damn sure he’d be visiting them soon. He enjoyed playing with his food before he ate it anyway.

Speaking of food. He frowned when he felt his belly growl again. He hadn’t eaten a thing since he woke up and because of that his energy was going down quite low. Meat wasn’t what he craved, nor was vegetables. Fruit was going to have to do, however the only kind of sweetness he wanted came from something or rather someone else entirely.

Shaking the naughty thoughts from his head he turned and slithered out of the village. When he found some fruit he brought it with him to his favorite spot, the hot water springs.
