Dahlia had waited all her life for an opportunity like this. Finally she was on her first expedition, she as the youngest researcher of her group at twenty four and she was eager to prove that she was as good, if not better, than everyone of them. She'd spent most of her life with her family in French Quarter, New Orleans and the vast jungles of South America were like nothing she'd seen before. She couldn't wait to explore them and if she was lucky she'd find some previously undiscovered species and make a name for herself. There was just one little problem...none of the other researchers ever let her leave the camp. They brought back thousands of sample for her to analyze but she was fed up with that! She wasn't going to make any kind of name for her self making such minor contributions.

So one day she grabbed her camera off the shelf and decided to do some of her own exploring, she wouldn't go far...just a half mile into the jungle and then she'd head straight back to camp. She tied her shoulder length, chocolate brown hair into a pony tail and rubbed some mosquito repellent into her light coffee colored skin. She slipped out just before dawn, that would give her a few hours before she was needed at camp.

HEY… S-SOMEONE… A... H-H-HUMAN… ANYONE.” The echoing youthful cries of a boy no more than ten years of age cried aloud throughout the cool yet thick air of the jungle. Bushes were crushed and small trees were shoved aside when the youth carelessly pushed the length of his body through the foliage. The small gaps in the tall trees above allowed bits of sunlight to beam down onto the silver scales of the creatures serpentine tail, causing it to shimmer like tiny diamonds weaving through a sea of glorious greenery.

Within the barrier of a village like structure not far from where the boy frantically slithered- there were several other creatures of serpentine species slithering to and from random destinations. They behaved much like a regular village of humans only the differences being their species but also the fact the female population was severally lacking in numbers.

The irritating cries coming from the boy got the attention of many in the village, none of which were the adults he was looking for. A warrior frowned disapprovingly at the youth and slithered over to him as he approached the section of the village that would be considered a gate. “Calm yourself child, you behave as if the jungle were on fire...” An interjection on the boys part interrupted the rest of what the warrior planned on adding to his sentence.

But, you don’t understand… a human! There is a human close to our village! VERY CLOSE!” The boys caramel colored eyes were wide with fear but also awe. He had never seen a human before but he had heard what the looked like. The one he happened to come across when hunting a small rabbit was the first anyone had seen in centuries but he knew he wasn’t mistaken. He his memory served him correctly the human he spotted was one of the female gender, a pretty one too. The warrior regarded him with a look of suspicion moments before he shoved the child in the direction of the main village huts.

Go stay with the elders boy.” He wanted to be sure the child wasn’t trying to pull a foolish prank on him before he alerted others. The leader of the village wasn’t the leader of all their species. The leader himself along with any other royalty or any persons holding an important status lived deep inside of caves that were in the center of the jungle, those caves were burrowed deep under a mountain but there was still a way inside to worship or to speak to the ancients if need be. However, it was know by all of their kind that nobody was to disturb the ancients unless it was absolutely necessary.

If what this boy said were to be true then this would be a necessary time to wake the royalty and that wasn't something anyone wanted to do willingly. Perhaps the child would best suffice to wake them? No, the boy wouldn’t be able to draw the attention of a rodent let alone ancients that had been sleeping long before he was born. The warrior let a long sigh of dread slide past his lips. First he needed to make sure what the boy said was true. Adjusting a spear that could be broken apart and lengthened the man gripped his weapon straps as he tugged them over his shoulder then he began slithering in the direction the boy came from. He’d have to see this so called human before he believed a word out of the mouth of that trouble making little brat.

In spite of her confidence in her abilities Dahlia had wandered farther from the camp than she'd realized. After filming a few birds and even an exotic looking boa constrictor eating a rodent she had tried to head back. She soon discovered that she was hopelessly lost.

"Ok, now you've done it," she muttered to herself. "you should have marked some trees or something. Just don't panic, it won't do for you to end up dead on your first expedition." she wandered a bit in the direction she hoped was camp. She couldn't see the sun's position through the thick canopy so she didn't know what time of day it was or what direction was East. Not good...and everything looked the same on all sides. She walked on, hoping to maybe find a familiar sight.

Cocking a brow the naga warrior watched the female human wander around the jungle, it hadn’t taken him long to find her since she hadn’t wandered far. He half thought the woman was purposely searching for something until he watched her walk around the same bunch of trees seven times. He could tell she wasn’t a threat just by watching how she composed herself. Even if she surprised him by attacking once he was seen he would still overpower her. Even so, a human was a human and he had to be careful. More often than not when there was one human there were always more to come.

Since the warrior was confident the female creature wouldn’t be a problem even though she seemed to be physically fit, just lost so it seemed. He tucked his spear tighter over his shoulder and secured it with a sharp tug on the long leather straps. Shifting his weight the warrior used the lower section of his muscles to push his long scaly frame forward. Although he was a large and lengthy creature he moved along the jungle floor silent and deadly. He wrapped himself around the base of a large tree and used his free hands to bring himself up and over branches that hung just over the head of the woman.

Large leaves shuddered then fell from the branches as he adjusted his weight. His dark eyes narrowed down on the humans head. He figured if the woman saw or felt the leaves she’d look up then the naga would have to slither all over the jungle to catch her once she got a chance to run, he heard scared humans could be fast and he was in no mood to take chase, especially if a free meal wasn’t involved. Despite being a warrior he was rather lazy, but more eager to get his duties done and over with. Perhaps the leader would allow him to devour the boy? Being a constrictor type naga made hunting larger prey sometimes tricky but with weak prey like this creature he’d have a full belly in no time. However, he knew this woman needed to be brought to the village. He’d have to fill his belly another day.

Without wasting another second thinking about his next meal the naga lowered the end of his tail and in one lightning fast movement he wrapped it around the humans waist and pulled her up into the tree branch. His tail easily uncoiled itself from around the tree limbs as he lowered both himself and his lightweight baggage. Hitting the ground he was careful to keep the human above a level that would prevent twigs and other shrubbery from attacking her much smaller frame.

The naga moved with such a fast speed and held the woman in a firm constricting grip that moving throughout the jungle was as effortless as breathing. Even with his great speed advantage the warrior hadn’t made it back to the village before nightfall. Nocturnal creatures began coming out to stalk the shadows for unsuspecting prey. Depending on the type of naga they would often be out hunting but since the village was mostly land or cave type naga they slept all day and hunted at night.

Deep in the middle of the darkened village the leader, an elder naga, coiled around a large campfire with other members of the village while they waited for the warriors to return with a fresh kill. Some murmured over the rumor of the human discovery the young naga stumbled upon. Ever since he was placed in the elders care he didn’t shut his trap once and because of it, his innocent curiosity was beginning to tug on the elders last nerve. An aged naga female with ridiculously long slivery hair turned to look at the elderly male next to her.

Perhaps we should wake the leaders ourselves before that human is brought into camp?” Suggested the old woman. The male shook his head rather violently. “No, I for one will not lose the few precious years I have left to feed those greedy…” His rude statement was cut off when a guardian naga blew the spiral horn to indicate company, which this time was one of their warriors and an unwilling human quest.

When a thick muscular length of shinning coils wrapped around her waist Dahlia let out a shocked cry, for a split second she thought she'd fallen into the grip of a record breaking sized anaconda. What she actually saw when she turned her head caused her to freeze for a moment in shock and awe. The long tail curled around her lead to a human waist and torso, this was no ordinary snake...

It only took her a minute to recover her senses and she thrashed in his grip, she scratched at his coils with her nails, she shouted the most offensive obscenities she could think of and even bit him once to try to get him to loosen. Unfortunately it was ineffective and all her struggling did was cause her to bruise her sides against the dense serpentine muscles around her middle.

As she was dragged through the jungle and to the village at incredible speed she felt a sense of dread creep over her, he had brought her to a whole tribe of snake creatures and she wondered if she was intended to be their meal...

The naga warrior suppressed the urge to suffocate the human to death when he felt her struggling to get free but he contained his irritation. Once he entered the village he was immediately filled with relief and released his grip on the woman. His formerly broken nose wrinkled into a deformed lump in the middle of his face at the sight of the female now sprawled on the dirt covered ground. Even if she looked appetizing she was still a sweaty dirty human. Probably tough as hell too seeing as her fighting spirit would give the poor naga that ate her indigestion.

He ignored the humans as he turned to give the approaching elders his attention. A deeply tanned male naga with loose hip length salt and pepper hair slouched over the human female and peered down at her between narrowed amber colored eyes that seemed to flare with a living fire. He remained silent while other elders gathered around to examine the woman but none of them touched her.

The naga child from before poked his little head out from behind the deep grey and silver tail of an elderly female who seemed to be in charge of him. However, she was obviously neglecting her duties seeing as the boy cleverly slid his tiny frame between the adults and weaved his way over to the human. His big caramel colored eyes were wide with both curiosity and fear. Even so the little creature was brave enough to slink behind the woman and lean in to smell her hair.

He then became dangerously curious and reached out his delicate claw tipped fingers to touch the humans hair. Seconds before the young nagas fingers would have touched the newcomer his little hand was grabbed and he was roughly pulled back behind the elders. Finally it would seem the wise ones had come to a silent decision that had the warrior turning pale and suddenly looking quite terrified.

One of the other naga leaned in close to him and whispered something into his pointed elf like ear. Whatever the elder said had pleased the man because when he drew back his head he had a smile on his face. Turning to the human the warrior approached her but instead of wrapping his tail around the other he reached out his hands and picked her up, being mindful of his sharp claws. With effort he pulled the woman up over his shoulder and began to slither out onto a dirt path that seemed to lead to a rock formation.

When they were closer one would be able to tell the large rocks were randomly scattered along the ground in front of a huge mountain that seemed to have small passageways that would most likely lead into a tunnel or a cave of some sort. The warrior had his powerful arm firmly wrapped around the womans waist so she wouldn’t fall off his shoulder or be able to escape by wiggling her way out of his grip.

The air around the base of the mountains where the passageways were was warm compared to the rest of the jungle. Vegetation was still abundant but there was nothing edible or living around the area at all. The only sounds were those of non living nature, no birds, no other naga or any other beating heart animals. The warrior stopped at the entrance to one of the passages and seemed to freeze on the spot.

He remained still and stared at the rock like doors for a long while before he pulled in a loud breath of air as if he were preparing himself for something. Finally he moved forward and used both his tail and his free hand to nudge the rock slab doors aside. Immediately a rush of heat rolled up out of the ground and drifted out of the hole where it appeared the entrance of a cave resided.

Pulling the rocks back in place behind him the naga carefully made his way down into the hot claustrophobic tunnel that seemed to go down quite deep under the mountain. The lower they got the hotter the area became but it was never lethal just enough heat to make one sweat. Coiling his tail around the base of his body the warrior shifted his shoulder and carefully moved the woman so she slid off his shoulder.

Placing the human on her feet he preyed he would stay there and not run or do anything as equally stupid, especially here of all places. He looked around at indents in the rock where long smooth and flat stones separated spaces. Oddly enough one had what looked like water in and around it, similar to an enclosed bathtub. Across from it was a dark section that seemed to be the hottest and within that area was where the warrior noticed some movement.

When he saw the movement a soft almost scared hiss slid out between his lips as he suddenly turned his body and slapped the end of his large tail against the back of the body of the human. This action would force the woman to trip forward into the dark sandy area of the cave where he saw the movement. Almost as if he were scared to death the warrior turned and moved at a neck breaking speed up and out of the tunnel before the human would have the time to run after him.

As the creatures gathered around her Dahlia couldn't help but stare at them. In spite of her fear a small part of her was fascinated. If she survived this encounter she'd have to get some evidence of their existence! It would be the discovery of the century, the millennium even! She wondered if she should count herself lucky. Maybe if she lived to tell the tale, until then this was an undesirable predicament.

It wasn't long before the creature that had dragged her hear picked her up in his arms and slung her over his shoulder, this time she didn't struggle, she was too busy hanging on as he shot back through the jungle. When he slithered into a narrow cave Dahlia kept her head down close to his body to avoid hitting it on anything.

When he finally put her down she noticed that he was afraid. It was stifling down here, why had he taken her so far into the earth? She thought about running, but she had no idea where she was and she doubted she could scale the tunnel before her captor caught up to her. Her heart thrummed. It was clear to her now that she wasn't going to be eaten by this particular creature, what was going to happen to her if she wasn't going to be a meal?

She was almost knocked of her feet when the snake man hit her back with his tail but she merely stumbled forward a few feet, letting out a loud expletive as she did so. What was all that about?! What on earth was going on?! At this point the woman was as angry as she was frightened and she whirled around to make some demands.

She started to ask the serpent man why he had captured her and brought her here but to her shock he bolted. Great, had he left her hear to die? Some how she didn't think so; he'd seemed so uneasy, what could be down here that would make him behave like that? Then a movement caught her eye, something big was coming in her direction...

Dahlia picked up a rock and moved against the back wall, she doubted she'd survive if what ever was coming for her wanted to kill her. But that didn't mean she'd go down easy!

The air around the human seemed to thicken with another layer of heat for a few moments before a loud but low hissing sound buzzed throughout the cave. Seconds after the hiss began to fade a blur of grey and white projected its massive frame out of the hot sand and coiled its serpent tail around the woman, knocking the small rock from her hand. The grip wasn’t tight enough to cut off her breath but it was enough to keep her from squirming out.

Still hissing low and with a viciousness that made up for the fact he looked like he needed a good dusting the half snake half human creature rose up from behind the woman he held, the scales covering the tail wrapped around the human were faded, like a good and thick layer of dead snake skin needed to be shed. The creatures eyes were a crimson red and had black cat like slits for pupils, those eyes were narrowed angrily on the face of the woman as he leaned down closer to her. Fragments of sand loosened and fell from the creatures long hair and large muscled frame.

Judging from how deeply the sand was caked on the naga it looked like he had been living in that sandy bed of his for quite a long time. The naga was clearly annoyed with the fact the woman was within the walls of the mountain, although he was still slightly disorientated from his sudden awakening. Even so he was still more curious as to how the woman managed to get through the jungle to begin with. Humans usually died upon reaching the outer section of the jungle due to the nature of the deadly animals and poisons they faced there.

Flexing the coils of his tail the naga twisted it around the lower half of his body, he pulled the woman even closer to his face. Leaning down he breathed in her scent then parted his lips and allowed his long and smooth forked tongue to slide out from between his lips. The wet appendage flicked up and down just at the tip as he tested the air and the taste of the human, her scent was unlike anything he’d ever come across but the fact she was intruding on his territory made him even more annoyed. He was finally satisfied with what he discovered about the human, just by her scent, touch and appearance, he suddenly released the human so she would drop from his grip.

He was however careful to drop the woman over the soft sand he had used as his resting place for several centuries. Groaning softly the naga curved his spine and pulled his weight up so he could balance himself on his coils properly. The sand crust had broken off enough to reveal more of his exotic frame. The skin of his tail was still distorted by several layers of dead skin that needed to be peeled off. Parts of it had already begun to but with so little movement he hadn’t managed to shed it all.

His usually crimson hair was dusted with a whitish film due to the sand and was knotted into a chaotic rats nest that fell down around his shoulders and far beyond his waist. Golden jewels hung in unkempt braids on either side of his angular facial features, they swayed with even the slightest of movements but didn’t seem to bother the creature. Around his neck was a similar style necklace that hung to the middle of his well built well but he had nothing around his waist but a tattered loincloth of sorts.

Sometime after he released the woman the inner walls of the cave seemed to give off a low hum while the earth below their bodies started to shake lightly. Deep grooves carved into the walls soon filled with a strange glowing pale blue slime that had seeped into the cracks from the edges of the ceiling. The glow grew brighter as more and more walls filled up and soon the entire cave area the human stood in was brighter so she would be able to see the naga clearly as well as his own temple like surroundings. “What… are you doing in our jungle… human?” Finally asked the naga in the human language known as English, though he asked the question properly his voice sounded rough like his throat was dry, parched from lack of liquid while he slept.

It spoke...

It spoke English.

Dahlia didn't know whether to be amazed or terrified. Even covered in dust and dead skin this serpent-man was far more magnificent and imposing than the others she'd seen at the village. Dahlia stared at him from where she'd landed for a full minute before his question sank in.

"I-I'm a researcher, I was documenting the wildlife and I got lost. I was brought down here by another snake-man." she said. Her tone was almost meek but she had gotten to her feet and was looking him in the eye, if this thing could speak then maybe it could answer her questions.

"Why did they bring me here?" her own greenish amber eyes flashed at the serpents with as much anger as he had displayed. "What are you anyway?" She folded her arms across her breasts in a gesture she hoped would make her seem tougher and hide the fact that she'd started shaking.

"....are you going to eat me?"

The advantages of living for a long time blessed the naga with the gift of an impressive knowledge of things both inside and outside the jungle. He had learned the language of the natives centuries ago and even went as far as learning what human language he could each time they ran into one. When mankind betrayed the naga and began wiping out the ancient species humans were banned from the jungle.

For thousands of years mankind was nonexistent within all areas of the mountains and jungle. These people that called themselves scientist had tried to climb their way back into the territory the natives formerly inhabited but all were assassinated and killed off without so much as a word passed between naga and human. It wasn’t until about a hundred years ago the leaders of the naga allowed some interaction between mankind and their people.

Language, culture, skills and teachings of many kinds were shared for several years but soon the humans began to revert back to their old ways. Wanting to poke and slice at the naga to see what made them tick. They tried to experiment with them without their consent and this angered the leaders. Once again the humans were banished from the lands but this time the naga set up strict rules that had to be followed otherwise they would be met with death.

The elders took over the responsibilities of keeping order while the ancient leaders retreated to the mountain caves to hibernate and conserve energy. They were the last of their kind and because of that they were fiercely protected. The only time an ancient naga was awoken was to mate with a female that was chosen by their shaman. She would have to have been deemed fertile and capable of surviving a coupling with one of the leaders. However, due to fact the humans experimented on most the females many couldn’t conceive anymore so the population of naga had dropped considerably. Even though they had lived a very long time their lives would eventually come to an end and with nothing to leave behind the naga were faced with the realization that their extinction would be unavoidable in the near future.

These were the memories that had rushed through the brain of the ancient naga currently towering over human now standing on her own feet. He may not have looked like he would have understood anything she was telling him but he did. He was well aware of what a researcher was. When she mentioned the fact another naga brought her down here to see him he frowned. Clearly the village felt this petite female was a threat. Then again, one human almost always ensured many more. He couldn’t let more humans wander the jungle, repeating the mistakes of his fathers father was not something he wanted to do.

The serpent watched the woman carefully, taking in the fact she was shaking but also trying to position her body to show she was unafraid of him. Humans were so stupid. They did such foolish things even if they knew the outcome was going to result in failure regardless of what they did. “My people thing you’re a threat… if you are then yes… you will be my meal.” He growled out behind a menacing grin that meant he was going to enjoy devouring this female if it came to that, although he posed no threat at the moment.

The naga adjusted his tail and began to slither around the woman in a large circle that made the sand under them swirl and start to sink slightly in the middle like a sand trap. Most naga were the type of snake that liked to eat live prey but when there was a time to play with food they couldn’t resist. However, the ancient being was more interested in this little creature being alive rather than digesting in one of his bellies. He leaned down close to her face so his own was inches in front of hers. “So, tell me human… do you pose such a horrible threat that I need to dispose of you?” He asked, giving her the choice between life and death.

When the large Naga lowered his face close to hers she leaned away a bit, "No, I'm not here to hurt anyone, I didn't even know creatures like you existed, I was coming to look at the plants and insects and such," she replied, she knew that if he wanted to kill her she'd never stand a chance, maybe if she kept him talking she could convince him to spare her.

"What will you do if I'm not a threat?"

He starred down the end of his nose at the petite woman creature in front of him while he listened to her speak. He pressed his greater weight into the sand under him and leaned in closer to the woman. Apparently burring this annoying creature alive wasn’t going to work at least not without some sort of struggle on his part. The only thing the naga had on his mind at the moment was the need for a meal, water and some fresh air.

If this creature wasn’t going to give him a hard time he wasn’t going to waste his time trying to dispose of her. Then again he was awoken for a reason. The reason being his people and the fact they saw her as a threat. Leaning back from her he moved his tail so it slid behind her. Pulling the appendage in closer to him he pulled her close as well. “Nothing to bad…” He grinned then gave her a firm glare. “My people don’t trust your kind and for good reason but because you don’t seen to be a threat to much more than a mouse I can make an exception." He kept those exotic eyes of his pinned on hers.

“However… there is the matter of newcomers.” He smiled rather deviously. “Because newcomers are not allowed to leave our village once here I will have to make you my… pet.” He finished, reaching out a clawed hand he placed his fingers under her chin and looked at her lips before he moved his striking gaze back to hers. “So long as you behave you have nothing to worry about… I may even be nice enough to allow you to see all you wish of this jungle.” He finished but kept his fingers where they were.

Pet? That sounded less than appealing. Dahlia didn't particularly want to stay here with this giant snake man...but if death was the alternative...

"I understand," she said hesitantly, she took a few deep breathes to keep herself calm. Panicking never did anyone any good and it would not serve her now. She didn't fight the clawed hand that held her jaw, although she had to force herself not to cringe when one of those claws came dangerously close to nicking her tender throat.

"You are generous," she couldn't deny that she was grateful for his mercy. But she was not unaware that she had to play this game carefully, a wrong move could result in disaster for her.

The comment coming from the woman bounced around inside his head, making him frown and shake his head almost like he was trying to shake free the distraction of being near the number one enemy of the naga and actually feeling happy to hear her praise. Instead of saying anything more he turned his body and pulled his tail behind him then coiled it so he could lean back against it. His almost demonic eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at the woman, studying her features as well as the whole of her body he could see. Something was different about this human compared to the others he had come across in the past. Despite being a female human she didn’t appear to be spineless. He had a feeling having such a creature for a pet would prove to be quite amusing. It was because of this that he made his next decision. Instead of wrapping his tail around the woman the serpent carefully picked her up in his arms and began slithering his way up to where the stone doors exiting the caves were. The higher they went the colder his skin got, slight shivers rippled along his body but he hid his irritation well and continued to hold the human firmly.

The second light broke through the now opened stone doors the naga squeezed his eyes together and hissed rather angrily. His entire body tensed up for a moment but he recovered over the shock rather quickly. Getting off the mountain was tricky for a snake his size. The paths hadn’t been used by an ancient naga in such a long time they had shaped themselves to fit the average serpent. The crimson haired male simply raised his weight on the base of his tail and practically rolled his scales down the side of the mountain. The ride was slightly rough but it was at least helpful to the naga since it tore the dead skin on his tail loose.

When they entered the village all naga dropped what they were doing and bowed respectively to the serpent. “L-Lord Makai…” An elder stuttered before dropping into a awkward sort of bow. The naga grunted and jerked his head to the side, silently telling them all to rise.

The warrior that brought the human to the leader frowned in confusion and awkwardly stood closer to the other as he inquired about his decision. The warrior opened his mouth to say what was on his mind but he didn’t need to. “She’s no threat… and now my pet.” He turned his head to look at the others and grinned rather mischievously although still deadly. “And… she’s mine.” Those were the only words the naga needed to say to insure the woman was safe from becoming food. He only needed to get through to the Elders that the human was no threat. Since they lived by the rule that all humans must die he had some tempers to sooth.

When the great serpent picked her up in his arms Dahlia instinctively put her arms around his neck. She was amazed at the speed with which he moved to get them out of and finally off the mountain. When he slithered down she watched the rough , dead skin on his tail crack and break in places. When he finally arrived back at the village she saw all of the others bow to him, it was not as if he were merely their king, these people seemed almost to revere him as a god!

Ignoring the curious murmurs around him the naga slithered towards a hut covered in dried and weaved greenery. He held her close then ducked low and entered through a door flap that was made of some sort of animal skin. Once inside the circular space he kept his body low because of his greater height and the fact the roof was made to fit the average sized naga. He made a note to bitch about that later and carefully put down the small human.

He moved back from her to give her space but also to hunt for something to create fire. He could see in the dark but from what he knew of humans she couldn’t. He couldn’t have a human stumbling around in the dark, especially one that did odd things to his naughty bits. He was both annoyed and amused the woman attracted his attention at all. She smelt different, looked different… she WAS all around different. Even so he couldn’t help but wonder what she looked like without that material covering her small body. Snaking his head he slithered close to the human in order to get by the door where some earthy pots of clay were.

When he took her to a hut and set her down Dahlia had to wait for her eyes to adjust to the dim light, he seemed to fill the hut with his vast coils. Already her fear must have been subsiding for Dahlia wanted very much to run her hand over his scales and feel their texture. Curiosity had always been her downfall, and she tried to suppress it.

"M-may I ask what your doing?" She said after watching his figure move around in the dark.

The serpent was about to answer her when he finally found enough items to start a fire with. A moment of rubbing and light blowing got a small fire going. He lit it up in a hearth in the middle of the hut. There were several poles of wood strategically placed over the fire to hold handmade pots. When the fire grew bright enough the entire space had a nice glow to it along with a calming heat. The naga rubbed his hands together and held them close to the fire. He moved his tail to the side so it wouldn’t trip the woman and after a moment of enjoying the heat he turned his head to look at her. “This is going to be where you will stay.” He said, moving once again he slithered closer to her and moved around her body. His body was so close to hers he could feel her heat but nothing beat the heat of a fire, unless that other thing was naked. Lowering his head he breathed in her scent, moving the tip of his nose in the hair that was just over her ear. “Of course… you can crawl in with me anytime you please.” He added in a smooth deep voice that held a hint of an accent that was from a language lost to the winds of time.

If Dahlia had thought being this Naga's pet implied that he would simply keep her like a dog or cat she realized now, that he was nuzzling her hair, that the word "pet" had a very different connotation. She swallowed and moved away a little, was that kind of thing even anatomically possible? She was almost curious enough to ask, but...

"I think this will do just fine." her voice came out higher than she expected it to and she blushed.

A dark chuckle slipped past his lips at her answer. He didn’t need to get close to her face to see the blush, he knew he was making her uneasy. Even if teasing her was fun he had to know a few things. “What is your name, human?” He asked, still lingering around her, smelling her and touching her softly with the tips of his fingers while he inspected his new pet appreciatively.

Trying to ignore the fluttering in her stomach caused by his little touches Dahlia answered his question. "I'm called Dahlia," she said. She tried to back away only for the heel her hiking boot to catch on something, causing her to fall on her backside rather clumsily. She started to push herself back to her feet only to find that her hand had come into contact with the snake scales that covered his tail. She drew her hand away quickly, lest she offend him.

“Dahlia.” He tested her name on his tongue and discovered he liked the sound of it. “I am called Makai… it’s not necessary for you to call me master, unless you want to.” He grinned then watched as she tripped and fell back on her ass. Turning to face her he pulled in his tail so the coils wrapped around her. Reaching out his hand he took hers and placed it back on his tail. “Don’t be afraid to touch me… if I was going to harm you I’d have done it by now.” He said softly.

Dahlia carefully ran her hand over the smooth scales, enticed by his invitation. He felt pleasantly cool to the touch and she ran her hand upward until the snake skin faded into smooth human skin.

"It's so different," she murmured.

The serpent watched every one of her movements carefully while she touched him. He didn’t mind her touch her curiosity with the texture of his scales and humanoid skin made him shiver but not from irritation or fear. It had been so long since he had contact with anything living, he almost forgot what it was like.

His eyes remained pinned to her face while his mind ran wild with thoughts forbidden for a creature of his status. He wanted to explore her body as well, he wondered if the skin of her waist was the same texture as the skin covering those appendages humans called legs. Instead of falling into the temptation of touching her he gently took her hand and helped her to her feet.

“Come with me…” He said softly then gently pulled her outside the hut with him. They walked for a little while then after a few turns they made it to a large body of water that had an impressive waterfall surrounded with lush fruit and healthy looking trees. Reaching the edge of the water Makai released her hand and slid into the warm water.

Dahlia wanted to join him, but she wasn't wearing anything that could be considered swim wear. Oh well, she'd just have to improvise, she pulled off her shoes and pants. leaving only her shirt and undergarments as she moved to join him in the water. She knew she couldn't stay here forever, it wouldn't be long before people noticed she was gone, but she could savor the moment before she started plotting escape.
