A demons education

Tayja was having a hard time seeing through all the thick smoke.. she whispered.. "over there behind the market.. down that ally"

It looked like there was a large congregation of hunters down at that end of town and a few even stood near the entrance to the ally. and then she whispered .. more to herself then to Enpu," Do you think they can still be alive?" She remembered one of the men that was fleeing the village had said the hunters where at her house looking for her, but she tried to push that thought out of her mind.
 
"Maybe, use your family as bait to get us to come out after them," Enpu whispered back as he went around the alley but followed close next to it. "Those hunters would have had my scent down when I walked by them, I'll get you to the market after this corner."
 
Tayja had seen the hunters as well, They seemed preoccupied as they had some woman of about 20 there you pushing back and forth between the group of hunters... The woman looked terrified, but Tayja knew if they stopped to help her they would all be dead. She closed her eyes but she couldn't get the sound of the woman screaming out of her head.

When they rounded the corner she could see her house. And standing in front of the house where 5 hunters.. they where the same hunters from the other night in Enpu's room.. She had thought Enpu had left them for dead .. but that was them no mistake about it. Her mother was tied naked to a post in front of the house. .. Her father was face down in the dirt in a pool of blood. At the sight Tayja screamed and all 5 hunters turned in the direction the scream came from.
 
"Ah hell," Enpu hollered as he put Tayja in his arms and started to run out of the village. He could see the hunters chasing them and he knew he had to get away from here to have an advantage on them. He wan't to complain to Tayja about yelling but she did see what she saw and it had to of been expected. Enpu kept up his pace and saw the forest coming into sight, along with a few more hunters on them.
 
When Tayja screamed the leader of the hunters turned in there direction... the grin on his face turning her blood cold, she could see the razor sharp teeth that filled his mouth... Her mother didn't even move when Tayja screamed .. her mother was already dead.
Enpu's grip tightened on her .. painfully.

As they ran through the village trying to escape more and more of the hunters joined in the pursuit .. even the group that had been toying with the other woman left her to join the chase.

As Enpu ran through the gates with Tayja over his shoulder she was crying " Ohhhh Enpu.. i'm so sorry .. i didn't mean to scream i just couldn't stop." she cried ... knowing she might have just got them both killed.
 
When Enpu got to the spot he was at before, he grabbed the robe and placed it over Tayja as he continued to run deeper and deeper into the woods. The number of hunters chasing him was lowering but there was that one leader that kept at him and ENpu knew he would have to fight him at some point. "No need to apologize," Enpu told tayja as he thought out what he needed to do.
 
Tayja was glad when Enpu had grabbed the robe.. not only for the obvious reason to cover her nudity but also as they where running and she was over Enpu's shoulders the woods had gotten much denser and the branches where starting to whip at her back.. she didn't tell Enpu cause she didn't want to slow him down .. she could still hear the hunters fallowing closely behind. Then she said to Enpu, " I thought you killed them back at the castle?"
 
"Dosen't mean someone could reanimate them," Enpu stated. "Which makes them harder to kill now. You can damage the body all you want, if the soul is stil attached to it, it will reform and keep after you until the body is destroyed for good," Enpu finished when he found the old campsite and noticed a small ember in the fire. He placed Tayja in the cave and grabbed up the ember, turning it into a full on inferno that he was control. "Keep your eyes down and don't sniff the air to much, its going to stink to hell soon." He could see the demons coming forward and he got ready for the attack.
 
When the hunters got in range, Enpu hollered at them, "this is why my father is a coward and sends you!" He threw the fire at the demons and before they could get close enough to rip his lungs out, they started to disentigarte into nothingness. The ones that didn't get hit started to move backwards. Enpu charged at them and when he reached them, he placed the fire on them and distenigrating them. He knew a few more were chasing him but if they saw waht he was doing, they were well on their way to a full retreat. "That's right, run, and tell my coward of a father I can kill him!" ENpu hollered at the top of his lungs.
 
Tayja watched from her hiding spot .. the stench in the air was thick making it hard to breath. She watched as a few of the remaining hunters took off running in the direction of the castle.

back at the castle Enpu's father was just hearing how they had eluded capture and had killed several of the hunters in the process.
 
Enpu calmed himself down as the stench became close to unbarable to him. He walked over to Tayja and said, "you okay? You hurt anywhere?" His heart rate was up and he coulld feel a bit tired but other then that, he was okay.
 
She smiled at him .. although he probably couldn't see it cause she had the sleeve of the robe covering her nose and most of her face.
*nods*, "yeah i'm ok .. a few bumps and scratches but considering what could have happened i'm ok" .. "I'm really sorry about almost getting us killed back there."

And then she hung her head down, "Enpu,... .. perhaps.. it would be better.. i mean maybe .. you should take me back to the castle and give me to your father" .. and then she sighed and looking up at Enpu she had tears in her eyes. " I dont want to see anything happen to you."
 
Enpu reached out and held Tayja in his arms. "One day, I will return there, but not to give you up. To end my father. Besides, I can fight and he knows that now. If anything, he will learn he has to come at me now to end me. He will be afraid now of what I can do to him. I'm not giving you up, not now, not ever. Besides, I made a promise that you would be able to have a family and you wouldn't have to worry about losing your children."
 
She looked up at him, although his words where comforting she couldn't help to feel worried on the inside ... she tried not to let her concerns so she didn't want to worry Enpu.. and then she started to think about what Enpu had said . and she smiled as she wondered what her little demons would look like.
 
Enpu kissed Tayja on the lips and then picked her up in his arms. "I know its dangerious to do but we need to find the survivors, see what we can find and hopefully find you a safe place to hide. And if we must, theres always the wizards to go to." Enpu started to walk in the direction he remebered seeing the survivors go, and through the smoke and stench, on the other side of the lake was a Buck, but something about it told Enpu that it wasn't normal at all. He just kept walking away as the Buck stared at him from the other side of the lake and then went back to drinking the water.
 
Tayja saw the buck as well ... but she didn't seem to notice Enpu tense up as he looked at it .. her mind was back at the village she was trying to forget the horrors she saw there,, the sounds of the screaming still echoed in her head...

"Enpu, what do you think the survivors will be able to tell us?" she asked. "You know Enpu.. next time the hunters will be prepared for you now that they have seen your strength." She was worried about him.. he had to let some of the demon out when he was fighting the others and she knew each time the demon inside him came out it would get stronger and stronger till he was no longer able to control it. Even she knew it was only a matter of time.
 
"They don't know my full strength," Enpu stated as he looked down at Tayja. "They might be able to tell us when they attacked and how. If the attack was plain daylight and sparatic, then maybe father is at war with someone else already." He looked back up and kept on focusing on finding the survivors.
 
She was quiet for a long time .. when she did speak it was full of worry.. " Enpu you don't really think he was looking for somebody else do you?" .. "I mean the other villager said they went to my house first and he said they where looking for me"

.. After about 20 minutes she poked him again... " Enpu, do you hear anything ?" ... "I don't hear anything Enpu." .... "Not even the birds, its to quiet"
 
"Its the calm after the storm," ENpu stated as he realized the smell of burning wood and fleash was finally gone now. "I think we may be safe now for a bit."
 
Tayja put her head down on Enpu's shoulder but she kept glancing back over his shoulder worried that someone might be fallowing them... but all she saw when she looked back was another big buck much like the one they saw at the lake.
 
When Enpu got to the top of the hill, a while way away from the village, he saw a small encampment and could tell this is where the survivors went after the attack."If the hunters leave from the village, they won't even have a day to gain some distance," Enpu stated as he placed Tayja down on her feet.
 
Tayja looked down the hill at the small group .. it looked like there where less then a dozen of them. She said half to herself,"is that all that's left." Astonished that there where so few survivors.
 
"Maybe, maybe not," Enpu stated as he sat down thinking this out. "If I go down there now, they may attack, you go down then I follow, they may attack, any ideas," he asked as he found himself stuck in a bad position in this encounter.
 
Tayja made her way down to the little group of survivors. They all had a look on there face like they where lost and disoriented not sure of all that just happened. At first when they heard her coming down the hill they jumped thinking it was one of the hunters ,, and then once seeing her they went back to what ever they had been doing, mostly crying.

And then one of them jumped up and pointed a finger,, " Thats her!! that's the one the hunters where looking for!" He shouted, "she's the cause of all this!" then all the other survivors turned to glare at her. It seemed like all there anger was directed at her.
