A demons education

"That can't be good," Enpu whispered as he watched the events unfold. His tail had already turned itself into a weapon but he felt part of him get ready to defend Tayja if anything happened.

Just then one of the woman in the group shouted, " Lets get her!" and another one said.. "Maybe if we hand her over to the hunters they will let the rest of us go after all it is her that they want." Just then one of the men from the group had walked up behind Tayja and suddenly grabbed her pinning her hands behind her back. The small group was turning into a mob and there focus was now on Tayja.

"Not good," ENpu thought as he came down to the group, he wasn't sure what he expected them to do but he couldn't watch anymore.

one of the woman in the group screamed as Enpu came running down the hill towards them. " It's one of the hunters!" the woman screamed. " Give him the girl! Give him the girl!" Tayja could hear one of the men yell...

From the direction Tayja was facing she couldn't see who it was ... but she shook in fear at the thought it might be one of the hunters..

"The first one that hurts her will have to answer to me, so think before you decide to kill her," Enpu snarled as stood behind Tayja, placing a hand on her shoulder. "When I figured they were going to hurt you, I came down," Enpu told Tayja as he kept his eyesight up on the survivors.

Suddenly from behind her she heard Enpu's voice booming out... he sounded so angery .. it was a voice she had never heard him use before.. full of furry at the villagers.

One of the men spoke up ... they still hadn't realized Tayja was with Enpu and they still thought he was one of the hunters. " No! No! Here you can have her..just please let us go." The man was begging Enpu. Then one of the ladies spoke up. " yes she was the one you where looking for."

"You think I am one of those demons," Enpu asked, his voice lowering a bit when he realized his tone may have been a bit harsh at the time. "I'm sorry about the tone, I have been having bouts lately, trying to keep it calm. I brought Tayja from the castle, out of my fathers grasp. We both were pawns in his game and we have escaped. Had I known he was going to send hunters after you, I would have killed him at the risk of Tayja's and my life." He added the last part to add some guilt to the villagers, hoping they would see that regardless if Tayja had come back or not, the hunters would have been after her.

The man that was holding Tayja's arms behind her back suddenly let go .. at that time Tayja latched herself onto Enpu's arm ... she was shaking...

The look in the villagers eyes was mistrust and frightened...
Then one of the other villagers .. who up until this point had remained quiet, most likely out of shock, said, "it's because of her, that my wife and children are dead. For years we have lived in peace knowing that the hunters would sometimes take a young girl but it was the price to keep the other villagers safe. and now because of her everything is gone."

Enpu held Tayja and whispered into her ear, "everything will be alright, understand?" He then looked over at the other villagers and said, "you telling me you were okay with demons taking your children away when they became of age? Sure, always happened to someone else but when it happened to your child, you wished people would help you get them back but no one does, every single time. If you want someone to blame, blame me for playing my father's hand in this attack but never," he snapped his jaws and snarled when he said never, then his tone went back to normal, "blame her for this. How long before this happened, huh? Before the demons grew tired of your children and they wanted more. One day, they would have ransacked the town like they did today. They would move on to another town, another village, and do the same to everyone else that they did to you. You call yourself human and right and decent, not speaking up when something happens? I don't think your human, being dead inside to what happens. Your nothing but cowards to blame others for what happened when you should blame yourself. If you had standed up when this all started, the demons would have known not to come afer you." Enpu looked back down at Tayja and then back over at the villagers. "Things need to change by force now, since this has gone to far. I stand here, holding Tayja as a sign that not all demons are evil like those hunters and my father. They brought her to me in the castle and told me to ruin her so the rest of her life was hell. I didn't do that. I got her out of there at the risk of life. Now, if you want to blame people for wanting change, you shouldnt. You should blame yourselves for letting this happen for this long, something that was so wrong. Now, any of you come after her I will deal with you. I don't care about you attacking me, I won't kill you. But you lay any harm to the woman I care about, the woman I risked my life for, then I will send you to hell for hurting her."

Tayja was behind his back ... peeking out at the faces of the villagers.
one of the villagers shouted back ... " you think we didn't try to stop them.. many had tryed in the past and all they got for it was killed... We've seen the destruction .. villages laid to waist if they tryed to oppose the demons.. now you tell us this was your father! and we are supposed to believe you want to help us?" the other villagers all just nodded as the one villager spoke up. Tayja thought for a moment that the villager was going to try to do something stupid like try to hit Enpu.. she she held on to Enpu's arm trying to keep him steady.. She knew these people where scared and terrified having just lost there families and everything they owned.

"Before, you didn't stand together. You worried about what you had. If you stand together as a whole, forget about living for yourself, you can do a whole lot. And I assure you, this time, when you stand up, you will have support that scares those demons like you were scared. Stand strong, stand firm, and show them there is nothing you fear when all is lost or all is threatened, and they will be the ones to fear. Many may have stood, but did all stand as one?" Enpu shook his head as he looked at them. He saw fear in their eyes but he saw the flame of revenge burn just as bright as the fear. "The demons have only truly earned one thing with their victories, they lack the disiplene to keep up their strength. With each time they attacked the villages, people should have learned to stand together and show the demons you won't just sit by and watch as hell walks the earth, scorching the land in its wake. Now, they will weaken themselves because they think they will beat humans each and every time, and you," he pointed at the villager that had spoken up, "you telling me you have no urge in you to stand with your fellow man to fight this blight." Enpu hadn't realized it but he just refered to demons as the one thing no person could call a demon and hope to live. "These demons are a blight on the land and you," each time he said you he pointed at a diffrent villager," and you, and you, and you, and you, and those that stand in fear, ran when they challenged you. If you had stood up, taken these fight to them, you wouldn't have to fear for your families lives. Now, will you keep standing against the one demon who wants this blight to end or will you stand with me, regroup and form an army, and take back this land from the blight of demons. Or do you only wish for your grave and to die with fear of seeing worse then death?"

"Regroup with others, make an army with all tired of this blight, be they human or demon," Enpu answered with a strong, normal voice, he almost felt why his father liked to control an army. But this army wasn't going to hurt people. It would end something wrong, even if in the long run something even worse would replace the evil they remove but it would buy time to grow and learn how to fight the evil that would come time and time again. "If I am on the side of ending this, then what are the odds that others are out there too, tired of what a demon is suppose to be and not suppose to be like. Look to the hills, the rivers, the forests, there are demons everywhere but there are some that are tired of this blight no matter what they are." Enpu pointed back towards the way he had came with Tayja earlier. "I know I had to of seen a Guradian of either the lake or forest near the village, your village," he pointed back at the people. "You depended on wood to build and I assume the guardian made sure that you would have wood if you respected his land. His land is now engulfed and will most certainly fight to keep it alive. There are demons out there, tired of other demons that only destroy, that are ready to fight back. Now, what is your call going to be? Die or fight?"

They where all quiet for a few minutes then one of the villagers spoke up.. " fight" and soon another villager chimed in also, " fight" soon they wall here chanting " fight! fight!"

Enpu sighed a bit and felt his tail relax into normal shape. "Alright, we need to get out of here soon. Those hunters will come looking for this spot soon and we have distance to cover." He looked over at Tayja and said something that she could only hear, "I think that was way to close for comfort."

The villagers where slow .. still in shock. But as they moved out Tayja could see them starting to fallow. She had no idea where Enpu was taking them .. but she knew the hunters wouldn't be far behind.

Enpu knew general directions for human towns and pointed the villagers east, towards a town that was a border town of his father's kingdom and a human's kingdom. He walked with Tayja aware she needed clothes but he also kept his eyes out behind them for the hunters when they would come. He could take a small group but if the group was to large, there would be casualties of some kind. "Tayja," Enpu whispered to her, "do you think you know where those wizards are, we may need their help in this war."

Tayja kept looking over Enpu's shoulder at the villagers .. they where moving much to slow .. she was afraid the hunters would catch up to them at any moment.

When Enpu asked her about the wizards she nodded. "Yeah i heard they had a pact with the dragons and they resided up by dragons ridge." She pointed in the distance to some mountains .. the mountains where silhouetted by and eerie red glow.

Enpu nodded his head and said, "once these villagers cross the border, we should head up there and see if we can get extra support. And to think, a couple of days ago, I didn't think when I woke up I would help in ending this blight of demons."

Dragons ridge was high up in the mountains a mist of eerie red fog hid the top of the ridge from view.. as they headed in the direction of the ridge Tayja couldn't help be feel this battle was far from over..

Now she not only worried about Enpu's safty but that of the villagers as well who seemed to be fallowing them aimlessly .. they all had blank looks of there faces .. the look of fear and hopelessness... they still had no idea of what they where in for .. or even now where Enpu was leading them.

When Enpu got to the top of the hill, he could see the dragons ridge to the east and the human village to the North. He looked back over at the survivors and said, "North from here is the village Haron, they are on the border of a Human Lords land. Make your way there and get word around to the people what has happened. And tell them that there are demons coming to your aid but if they are not with a human when they come, be cautious. We don't want another surprise attack. I will be heading east of here to the Dragon Ridge to get some support." He looked over at Tayja. "Where do you wish to go, east or west," Enpu asked as the villagers started heading North to the village.

She watched as the small band of villagers headed north towards the other village. .. as the last villager turned the bend and was out of sight is when Enpu asked her which way she wanted to go...

"I think i should go with you," she said. " I think the wizards may be more willing and less suspicious of a human girl where to approach them."

"If that is what you wish," Enpu said as he walked with Tayja towards the Dragon Ridge. "So, any history on them? Anything they need inorder for them to even talk to us or something," Enpu asked as he notcied the air seem to get colder.

" we dont know much about them and what we do know about them is just legend. I heard there extremely powerful and there leader made a pact with the dragons that's why the dragons let them live on the side of there mountain."

As they drew closer to the base of Dragon's ridge she added, "I've heard that the wizards are truly evil and only help others when they think they have something to gain, but there alliance lies with the dragons."

"Well good to know that one," Enpu stated as he noticed an odd feeling. He shivered a bit when it struck in his heart but he knew what it was, the one kind of thing a demon feared. Something bigger and stronger then it. "Why I was asking was I didn't know what the custom was for getting to talk to them and stuff. Wanted to be on the safe side is all."
