Its Raining from Limbo [Farcry x Risi]

With a quiet nod Erol backed up as his brow furrowed. What was there to do? What wasn't there to do, honestly. Tilting his head he thought about it wondering what a former angel would want to do. It was a baffling quandary, one he was not knowledgeable about. "Well, there's concerts, movies, take a flight around the town, um, parks..." No that might be seen as romantic. "...of course there's food, speaking of which should get you some stuff you like to store in my dorm room. You should probably stay there instead of here in my work space. Let's see, there are museums... all sorts of stuff. What do you like really?" Erol wished she had told her more about herself yesterday, he'd know more of what to say now.

Seeing that a few things had been knocked over from his earlier explosion he moved around the room to clean up a little. Honestly he hated clutter and yet lived in a fairly cluttered state. He'd need to move more of his stuff out of his bedroom over to here. "Me, I've got my studies both the mundane and arcane." Erol could easily fill up his time with all sorts of experiments and work.

"Well," she began, "I don't want to bother you if you I've things to do..." Celeste really didn't, but she somewhat hopes he would blow off his work again today to show her around. "I didn't really get to do much when I lived on Earth. I didn't have time for myself," her lips pulled together again and she began to nibble slightly on her bottom lip.

"What to you enjoy to do?" she then asked suddenly, attempting to pull herself from the sadness of Earth. Clean, I suppose, she thought to herself as he began to pick things up that had been knocked over in his fit. As he answered she pondered what she would want to do if he made her choose. Probably a concert or dinner, she was never one for sitting in the dark to watch other, made up, people live. Or maybe a walk through a museum or a park would do her well, nature and all. Her mind went back to Earth though. The nights when she was forced to lay with men of strength and power, as to 'calm them'. What they had expected of her at such a young age was disgusting. Earth was a dark place when she finally left it.

That's right, she'd died. It was a hard thing to wrap her mind around. Celeste was really a zombie, dead come back to life. Would last night technically be called necrophilia then? She shook the thought from her mind quickly, only to return to the cold dreary days on Earth. Her head throbbed once again, her eyes watered slightly, between the thoughts and the pain of not using her power, she was a wreck.

Erol was confused by her lack of ability to enjoy her life on earth. What weird place was it that a magic user, smart, attractive, perhaps a little blunt but it didn't make sense. Why then did she have such problems before. Then she asked her question and it was a simple question, while he really wanted to know about her she clearly wasn't ready to speak about herself for some reason. Perhaps it was just her not liking him but he hoped it was something else.
"Well, I enjoy reading, art shows and the museums. Really it's about learning for me, I rarely spend time enjoying myself." He smiled crookedly. Then noticed that Celeste was beginning to be looking worse. "But would you like to do something... together?" The question came with concern in his voice. What had happened to her?

"Can I help you with something?" He asked with genuine concern. She wasn't acting normally and he wasn't sure. Perhaps he'd need to cast one of those diagnosis spells.

She skipped his first question all together, going for the jugular within his second one, "I can't use my powers with this necklace on," she told him slowly, "I feel like a fish out of water, really. I can't even regulate myself without my powers. Can you take it off, please?" Celeste was on the verge of tears, begging now. Feeling pathetic she turned away and wished she wasn't in the same position she had been in back on Earth, begging for her life really. Her tears started falling then, sniffling along with it, it was evident that she could barely keep herself together now. The fall from the lack of use of her powers was always an exponential one, each second was worse than the last. Soon, it would be like gasping for breath through a straw.

Erol's heart sank. Clearly Celeste was in trouble yet she wanted out, she was not thankful, she did not like him, all she wanted was to be done with him and getting her powers back was pretty much all she had left to do. The young man moved over to her looking with concern. "I... I didn't mean to cause you harm but taking the whole apparatus off seems like a bad idea. I can only imagine you will attempt to use your magic on me and flee from me. Though I should remind you if you do I can sever the summoning and you will be returned to Limbo." He honestly did feel bad that she was in such pain, crying, having trouble breathing yet she had been so distant and seeking a way to get away from him that he was cautious.

Reaching for her neck he turned the choker around until he could get at the locket and unclasped it first. Her magically enhanced senses, her ability to perceive the world exploded in colors, sights, sounds, smells, touch, it was like seeing the world anew. The locket freed her passive magics but nothing more. He watched for her reaction, hoping that was all that needed to be done.

Though it restored her ability to breath normally and regulate her own body functions, the choker still limited her. For the time being, it would be enough. "I understand," she told him softly as she was still searching for breath. "It will do for awhile, but I'm not sure for how long." She was being honest with him, no one had ever been able to halt her powers like this. It nearly killed her, the amount of power he held over her head.

Once she had arrived in heaven, after her murder, she had told herself she wasn't going to be someones pawn. But here she was again, in the same position. "I'm not trying to escape, I don't mind being here with you, I just don't want to be someone's pet again." Celeste's eyes were sad and nearly hopeless now, her body looked crumpled and used. How had she gone from such a strong young woman to looking like a discarded piece of trash? All she wanted to do was live, without the instruction of another master but her future now seemed bleak. It might depress anyone really.

"I didn't ask you to be my pet!" He proclaimed loudly. Quickly thought he closed his eyes and shook his head as he pocketed the locket. "Sorry. I know, I'm over reacting." Erol asked if she would be his girlfriend not pet and while he was fairly certain she wasn't saying he did, the implication was there. After all he had put a collar on her effectively. It made sense, even though it went against everything he'd said up until this point. A tutor, a girlfriend, a lover, these were things he did want from Celeste but she was determined it seemed to find evil in him.

He didn't want to capitulate anymore to this woman who seemed to just demonize him. But he sighed roughly, "Listen, I can remove the second seal as well, this will allow you to use your magic on yourself. Any non-passive magic can't leave your body though. I know what you've said but I don't think I can trust you if you had all of your abilities." He'd seen the looks in her eyes, that if she had the chance she would do something to him. Erol was not going to give in any further until she proved that she was trustworthy.

Celste gave him a slight nod, but said no more. It seemed no matter what she said he always took it the wrong way. Her eyes watered and she turned away. Why am I being so emotional? she wondered as she began to gather her things in the bags from yesterday. "Do you want to show me your dorm room?" she asked politely, attempting to keep their conversation light once again, "I wouldn't want to bother you though." Celeste's heart felt heavy, had he not known how much death sucked, she might have just taken her own life right then and there.

Later in life, Erol and Celeste would diagnose her feelings of loss and depression as PHSD (post-heaven stress disorder). But until that point she had fallen into a magic-less slump she felt she couldn't shake.

Erol shook his head as he helped her gather her things. "Of course, and it's no bother really." After a moment he paused to look at her. Celeste was lovely and had been through a lot. He did feel for her, but he also had his own issues and it was not usual for him to be something other than selfish. Taking the last of the bags he looked at the former angel and smiled. "Come on." He wished he could have been more comforting but since this morning she had pushed him away repeatedly. Perhaps it was his fault for being so forward, but then she was the one who bounced over all flirty still wearing her skirt with no underwear beneath.

Together they walked back out of his pocket workshop into that supply room before making their way through the large building and back out onto the college campus. So very much like a New England style open campus with large edifice like structures but the plants were slightly off, the design work wasn't the same. There were lots of little touches that let Celeste know she wasn't on Earth anymore. It was pleasant though, the air was clean and warm as they made their way towards an obvious set of dormitories. Once inside there was almost the comically stereotypical college dorm life going on. Guys and girls hitting on each other, some going off to use drugs, others were in one of the common areas watching some movie. Erol led her up to the second floor which was obviously a nerd hall that he lived on. Made sense. The posters were all of people who looked like scientists, or math or science issues with the occasional one that looked like a Yes album cover but not quite right. Finally he came to a door, most of the way down the hall, right next to the bathrooms.

Opening the door his room was unsurprisingly neat and clean. There was a good sized bed with drawers under it, book cases with many open spots, a computer on a desk and a small stereo. The decor made it clear that he never stopped working. White boards with arcane formulas were along two of the walls, there was a poster to some old science fiction looking movie. He'd already cleared out space obviously. There were duffel bags clearly stuffed with clothes and a couple boxes of books all stacked neatly at the end of his bed.

"Um, I can go get you some toiletries. It's not much, but it's a dorm room. Oh, here." He pulled a key out of his pocket and handed it to her. "For the door." As if that weren't obvious. He felt like an idiot talking to her like this. Erol couldn't help but think she'd meet some other guy who fit her tastes more here in the dorm and... It's not like he needed her as his girlfriend, he just wanted someone to help him get better with magic, new, different magic but she didn't care. Rrrgh. Erol was easily frustrated but due to this he had lots of experience hiding it.

As she walked beside him Celeste felt almost normal, but the differences from Earth reminded her she wasn't supposed to be alive. But when they went into the dorm room, it was clear that he was almost never in there. He offered her toiletries and she nodded slightly as she dropped her bags on the floor. "Yes, please. But the room, its fine. Great really..." As she trailed off, he handed her the key. "Thanks," she told him, averting her eyes and taking it from him.

"Can I decorate it?" she asked, randomly. Her thoughts were sporadic after her magic panic attack. "Do you want me to go alone, do you want to come with me? What am I going to do while you work?" her questions kept coming again, like they had before she had sex with Erol.

Part of her wanted him to stay longer, which is part of the reason why she kept asking so many questions.

"Good, I'm glad you like it." Erol said with a small smile. Then he waved his hand over some things. "Don't worry I can move more stuff out." Then her question hit and he smiled crookedly, "Sure, sure, decorate however you want."

He blinked as she kept asking questions and now she was suggesting they do something together, which when he had offered to do something as the two of them she had blown him off. She was confusing. She didn't like him, obvious because when he talked she picked at him, wouldn't look at him, was fairly rude all the time except when he was giving her something, which made him wonder if she was some gold digger. But he tried to shake away such dark thoughts. If on earth she was constantly beholden to others then perhaps she is not used to doing things on her own and is nervous about people holding power over her. Still she had not done anything to win Erol's trust, instead attacking it repeatedly.

"We can go get you what you need together or if you want I can give you some money, up to you. I'll give you some money even so, so in case something comes up." He says trying to be supportive yet still confused by her actions. Then he looked around the room. "Umm, I don't know, what did you do to entertain yourself on earth, it sounds like it's similar here. I mean, I have work to do, it's important. It's sort of like how things were for you." He doesn't meet her eyes as he speaks. "But if you need anything or just to talk I'll be around." There was no way he could bring up hanging out together as she would probably just snap and belittle him.

"I don't want to bother you," she told him, watching him as he spoke to her, almost carefully now. "I don't want to just take your money though," she added this slowly, almost afraid of what the compensation would end up being. Celeste didn't ask him to clarify his comment about what he did for work though. It seemed he didn't really want to and she was afraid to push him further.

"Is this normal here? Or will I stick out like a sore thumb?" she asked motioning to her clothing, then wondered if the phrase worked here. They did have thumbs after all. She was almost afraid to ask. He was so hard for her to read, which wasn't helped by the fact that he usually used her powers to help with that. Her eyes blinked up at him, innocent but not at the same time. Hopefully, her girlish charm would be enough to have him feel the need to care for her rather than act like she was a bother.

Erol continued to be confounded by Celeste. This morning she was flirty, then hated him, just a moment ago she started to talk to him and now she's pulling back. Looking at her his brow furrowed slightly with concern. "Well you are not bothering me, I'll let you know when I have to get work done. As for money, you don't have any identification so it will be hard to get you a job... Well I guess some jobs would be available, like waitressing at some place. Or again if you would teach me some magic then we could call that compensation I guess." Though honestly he thought summoning her from an eternity in Limbo was a pretty good down payment on any teaching but no matter how many times he brought it up she evaded him. It almost seemed like he'd have to consider this a wash and either send her back or let her just go back when the summoning fades in a year and hope that he can scrounge together the materials to summon someone or something that will help him.

Sore thumb? That was a weird thing to say, oh, like looking different. Erol nodded slowly as he pursed his lips together. "You look fine, a bit conservative but no one should give you trouble for how you're dressed." He replies simply. Was she trying to flirt with him? Again he was confused. "So why don't we write down a list of what all you need and we can get it and maybe do something else, if you want or you can rest."

"I'll try to get a job, if that would be better for you," she offered softly. Telestet wasn't opposed to holding down a job in the slightest. Perhaps it would offer her something to do while he worked. Whenever that was anyways. "I can try to teach you some things, magic wise, if you want as well. It'll be hard with my choked though. I'm not asking you to remove it, I understand why you put it on, but I'm just letting you know." Her tone was careful, trying not to steep on Erol's toes or confuse him with her apparently different way of speaking.

Once scrounging around the room she found a pen and paper and began to list the feminine products she would need, shampoo, conditioner... The list went on. It was odd to need things again. With that thought, her stomach growled. "Perhaps we could get some food while we are out?" she asked as she finished up her list and ripped the paper form the notebook.

The young man shrugged as he looked at her. "If you'd like a job, I can help you out." A smile that he tried to not make seem like he desired her, though being alone with her in his bedroom sort of brought up such thoughts despite himself, but instead to be friendly and supportive. Then she brought up the choker again. Nodding he turned and looked at one of the walls for a moment. "Again, I am willing to remove one more layer soon but I need some trust built up before I take the whole thing off." Erol hated talking about the choker, she saw it as him trying to enslave her or something though he'd never said anything like that while he saw it as something to protect him and his investment in this other planar creature. Still she seemed to enjoy guilting him over its existence.

Erol tried to offer a few suggestions of what she might need without offering anything that might be viewed as too personal. Nodding his head, "Sure." In fact he'd brought over bagels earlier but he'd turned them into charcoal briquettes with his wings so he'd rather not think of it. Opening the door he led the way to a small dinner on the campus. "Did you ever hold a job before or is there a job you might like?" Roughly he ruffled his hair as he was once more clad in a long coat, gloves, boots and pants that allowed for only hints of flesh to be exposed.

"I've never had a job before," she told him softly, almost ashamed if it, not mentioning the choker, as it seemed to upset him. He had turned away from her once again. It was odd. He was odd. But it was oddly endearing. Celeste wasn't exactly sure what to do with him.

She padded around slightly, moving her clothes about before they left. Everything has a place, she told herself as she began to unpack. Erol confused her to the point of convulsion. Ah, the mystery of the heart.

As they headed out, she grabbed her list and gave him a smile. Perhaps she was more welcoming he would be more normal.

Erol smiled back at her and inclined his head. "Well, you could get a job at a store or a cafe or restaurant." He offers. "They aren't exciting but it's something." Shrugging he hoped that she would understand he was trying to be helpful. Walking with her he almost offered her his hand but knew she'd refuse him or snap at him.

Finding their way to a local diner he did hold the door open for her before giving a small wave to one of the waitresses. Then motioning for Celeste to sit at a booth that he scooted into. "I'm sorry this has been rough on you. I didn't think I would summon someone like you. I mean, you were supposed to be an extra planar creature created and raised there, so if I've been treating you not as a person but a ... I don't know, I just wanted to apologize for how I act sometimes. Though there are other things that I have meant." Erol frustrated even himself as he often wasn't good at explaining things and in this case he couldn't bring himself to state again that he meant it when he would like for them to date. However it was him saying that which was the trigger for her hating him. Still he couldn't help but think of her at times as property he owned, that's what summoned beings were. You summoned and bound them, they were only here as long as you wanted them and they were easy ways to bring them in line, yet he was conflicted. He didn't want that from Celeste, well maybe in some dark sexual fantasy he did but it influenced how infuriating Erol found it when she would lash out at him.

As she slid in the booth across from him she gave Erol a smile, hoping it would ease the tension between them. Her hands folded in together as she listened to his apology. "I'm sorry I'm so unpredictable, its really hard to function without my powers and the difference between here in Heaven was big so I'm just confused emotionally at the moment," her words were quiet and she felt bad for being such a problem earlier. Her shoulders shrugged gently and moved to say something else, but it was squelched when the waitress came over to greet them.

"Well hello there," she told them, in what sounded like a deep almost southern accent, to Celeste that is. "It's good to see you dear, I see you have a friend?" she allowed no time for a response though, "I'm Edith and I'll be your waitress today. What can I get'cha?" Celeste blinked, already lost in her drawl, turning to Erol because she didn't want to show her lack of knowledge over the simplest things like food and drink. Edith took the blink as the inablility to pick though so she pointed up to the menu on the wall which had been previously hidden to Celeste. "My favorite is the grilled cheddar." "Oh thank you," Celeste said with a smile, "I'll have that."

Erol orders something that is clearly not in English, which Edith grins as she smacks her gum writing down the order. "Oh, and an orange juice." He adds just as she was about to turn away. Edith tapped her pen against her pad and gave a quick nod before getting Celeste's drink order and then heading back over to the pass to deliver the order.

Intertwining his fingers together he places his gloved hands on the tabletop as he looks over at Celeste. "I imagine this is a huge difference between where you were before all this. Can I ask..." He started hesitantly. "What happened to your... wings?" His face was creased with concern and he said 'wings' in a bit of a whisper. It's not like anyone else walked around with wings and he had given every impression of being shamefaced at the possession of his own wings, despite the fact that they were made of magical force and not a physical element.

"I'm sure they must have looked nice." He commented idly before shaking his head. "Sorry, I shouldn't say that." Of course he shouldn't, bringing up something she once had like that. Still he had thought about it and the mental image was pleasing, though he for some reason envisioned her with black feathery angel wings instead of the stereotypical white.

Her mouth hung slightly agape as he ordered in a foreign language, one she couldn't even identify, let alone speak herself. Edith just laughed at Celeste's dumbstruck face and turned, her skirt flashing a bit of skin as it flipped up with her turn. Celeste rolled her eyes slightly and turned back to Erol, who had began to talk.

"They cut them off before they sent me off to Limbo," she told him softly, averting her eyes to the salt shaker on the table beside her. His comment of her wings tugged at her a little bit, it was terrible to used to have something that he wanted. Something that would give them something in common, something to talk about.

Her eyes moved back to his, "No, its fine. They never really felt right to me anyway." She gave him a shrug and fiddled her fingers together. "How often do you come here to eat?" she asked, wondering.

“Oh, I’m so sorry.” He apologized for bringing up the punishment of Heaven that had been placed on her. His eyes showed the great deal of frustration and sympathy he held for the young woman. Frustrated he wasn’t able to say the right things as he had the day before and sympathy for the situation she had lived in until now.

“Not all that often, maybe twice a month.” He said distractedly. Erol had not noticed the flip of the skirt as such displays were almost commonplace here. As if to send the point home a young couple dressed in the most ridiculous leather ware came in. His made it clear just how well hung he was and hers was probably the first time that a camel toe was visible in a leather outfit.

“So what do you want to do instead? I mean, if those wings felt wrong and in your first life you were bound, what is it you truly wish for?” And is there room in that potential future for him, was what Erol wanted to add but she hated him and he couldn’t seem to impress her. It was becoming clear that last night had not been about him but because she had just been through a thousand plus year dry spell. His ego was at the lowest it had been ever, outside of when dealing with… no he wouldn’t think about that now. Of course he wasn’t sure he wanted a long term with Celeste. He was still young and she’d lived for thousand of years, it sort of made sense why she wasn’t impressed or appreciative of him. Nervously he fidgeted with the pepper shaker.

With a hand motion she waved away his apologies, her head shaking to ease his worry. "I don't really want, that's the thing. Being bound made me learn that I deserve nothing really and to take what was offered because it may not be an opportunity down the road, and," her voice dropped, "And Heaven showed me that people are spoiled little things in both life and death. Righteous now that they had found 'home'" she gave the last word air quotes and huffed a bit. "I don't wish or want anything, I just keep on." Celeste's eyes flicked up to him once again but before she could say anything, Edith had come back with the drink order.

"Here ya' go m'dear," she told Erol as she set down his orange juice with a smile. The smile was not given to Celeste however along with her glass of water. Celeste rolled her eyes as the woman fled from the table and set elbows on the table, and the sides of her face in her hands. "Can we not talk about me all the time? I feel so self centered..." she trailed off in hopes that he would bring up something about himself. When that didn't happen, she attempted to prompt him, "What do you truly wish for then?"

What a sad way to look at the world, not wanting, not caring, no wonder she disliked him so. They had similarities yet he was on a much different path then her. Celeste seemed to be unhappy to be human and unhappy as an angel, there weren’t many other options and her denial of her self of her desires didn’t make her a strong demon candidate. The young man looked at her sympathetically wanting to aid her yet having no clue how to when she wanted nothing.

Interrupted by the drinks Erol nodded his thanks to Edith but kept his attention on the former angel. Again he nodded as Celeste asked not to be the center of attention. He understood that. After all he hated discussing his situation. Random personal interests, sure but about who he was and where he was in life, never.

The question she chose to ask him though made him burst out with laughter for a brief moment before he reigned himself in. With an impish grin he shook his head. “Oh, that is not fair, Celeste, not fair at all.” Leaning forward he continued on to explain, “You talk of being an angel and how every human is selfish and spoiled like they are beneath you, scum of the earth and then you ask me what I wish? For my selfish thoughts?” The grin simply grew. “That isn’t fair at all. I asked you out of personal interest and kindness and you ask me after stating that you have judged all of humanity selfish. I admit it, I am a selfish, spoiled person, there are ways my life could be so much worse, but that doesn’t mean I have hopes and desires.” Sitting back in his seat he gestures to her. “And if you want to start fitting in then I suggest you start getting some of your own, because being all angst won’t get you more friends or were you planning on being a lot more goth this time around.” He winked at her to show it was good natured ribbing, even though his internal voice had been trying to make him not say that last line, figuring she’d take offense.

Either way Erol had done a masterful job of avoiding talking about himself.

Her lips pursed as he teased her, a grin rose to her lips though as he avoided talking about himself. "I didn't mean that all humans are selfish," she lowered her voice, "Angels are." He voice rose back up to a normal loudness, "So now, you have to answer my question." There was a mental Hmph at the end of her sentence as she playfully crossed her arms and attempted to pout at him. Her pout quickly broke though, a small smile playing upon her lips as she tried to suppress it.

The food came before Erol could say anything though, making Celeste's fake pout last longer. "Anything else?" Edith asked, Celeste shook her head in defiance as she looked down at her grilled cheese sammich. Yum, she thought as she uncrossed her arms and picked up one of the half cuts of the sandwich.

Erol smiled, pleased to see Celeste smile again. It was a pleasant smile, an honest one, something he rarely saw. "Hm, I'm not sure I believe you. I think you believe angels and humans are selfish. But..." The food came. His was a bowl with three different kinds of vegetables and one kind of meat split into quarters resting on noddles and some more vegetables with an egg on top. It looked like an asian dish from earth but not one from a typical chinese restaurant.

This time he did nod with an odd smile to Edit before taking a bite of his food and turning his attention to Celeste, clearly unable to answer her as he was so obviously engaged with eating right now.

Chew, chew, chew.

Eventually swallowing Erol shrugged noncommitally. Another pause then finally he spoke, though when he did his voice was quiet, not carrying much further than the table. "Like I said I am selfish, there are a lot of things I want." His chopsticks played with the noodles as he thought. "I ... Well you saw what I am. I want to be able to control that, to know more about why I am this way. I need to graduate. I guess after I want a good job. I'm not sure." With a tight grin he admitted, "I don't like being the center of attention either. Why do you think I dress like this and work in a pocket dimension off of an equipment room for the gym?"
