After finishing a day's work of feeding some of the pokemon that had come to his ranch, Nathan left his ranch to take a nice walk. After an hour of walking through the woods, he saw something yellow in the distance. Closing in, he found it was a...ninetails? "Whats a ninetails doing out here...?" Upon further inspection of the body, he saw that it was human-like, and he let out a surprised yell.
 
The ninetails turned to look at him and quickly climbed a tree saying "G-get away! I didn't do anything so you can't beat me like those men with R's on the shirts!" she was in a torn soft yellow dress and had cuts and bruises showing abuse as she spoke of team rocket. She had escaped them somehow but had been turned into a morph of human and pokemon dna and she now stared scared at this man who had let out a yell.
 
He stumbled back, surprised it was alive and it could talk. Seeing it scurry up a tree, he noticed how badly bruised it seemed to be. Standing, Nathan walked over to the tree and tried to plea for her to come down. "Ninetails, what happened to you? Why are you a human and a pokemon at the same time, and who has hurt you so?"
 
She glared at him "I was a girl named Rain but those asses from Team Rocket knocked me unconcious. When I came to I was like this and I ran." She climbed higher and asked scared still "Y-your not one of them are you?"
 
"Course not! Do I look like a Rocket?" He said as he looked up to her as she climbed higher in the tree. "Come down from there before you hurt yourself. Those wounds and bruises need to be treated."
 
She growled down at him "Why should I trust you? your a guy like the ones who did this to me!" she tensed up seeing a mightyena walk up to him. The pokemon nudged his hand to tell him the others were getting hungry at the ranch then left. She got to a lower branch but still out of reach and asked "Why did he act like that?"
 
"Mightyena is my partner pokemon at the ranch. He's the most helpful pokemon I've ever known. We trust eachother, and we help eachother take care of Pokemon at the Ranch. Come...won't you trust me?"
 
"I'll come but I wont trust you." she stayed in the tree wanting to keep distance between them til she thought she could trust him. She thought to herself 'hes not rocket and he is kind of cute, but hes still a guy and guys were what did this to me' she glared at him wanting him to let her stay distanced from him as she spoke "I guess you can call me Neta. Its the only nickname i like when dealing with a ninetails."
 
"Rain, Neta, whatever you say." He said as he turned around and began to walk on to the ranch. Upon arriving, he saw the pokemon roaming the ranch, some looking at him and seeming hungry. He hopped over the fence and went to the feeder where he began to pour some food into a large bowl for them all to feed.
 
Rain stood at the fence sceptical as a small vulpix walked up and began to speak with her.

What Rain heard:
'what happened?' "I got knocked out and abused while turned to this." 'What pokemon did they hurt?' "My only one and best friend of 3 years."

The vulpix began to cry and told her she could trust Nathan and heal here without worry. Rain just glanced at him as the pokemon walked away from her.
 
Turning to look at Neta, he raised his hand into the air and began to wave her over as he had a small bowl of pokemon food filled. He wasn't sure if she was to eat people food or pokemon food...so he just gave her what he already had at that moment.
 
She stayed where she was and said "I prefer Lychee berries over anything." even her ninetails had loved the berries more then poke food and with them now fused she kept to the memories.
 
"Lychi berries huh...I think I've got a berry bush of em out back, you can go pick em yourself along with anything else you want though...be sure to leave at least one berry so it falls off and grows back into more berries.
 
Running on her feet and hand she bolted around back and found the bush. She ran back and grabbed a basket behind Nathan before he could see and darted back picking some of the lychees, she also picked some fruit from the trees she liked and ran back to her spot this time on just her feet back to the fence and sat down eating the food she picked and smiled while she ate for the first time in who knows how long.
 
"G-Gah..." He was surprised at how much food she had picked, far more than anything any single pokemon on his ranch would eat in a day. "Well...she is human after all..." He set the bowl down next to Mightyena for him to eat as he approached Neta. "You enjoying it?"
 
She dropped a berry and backed away from him "I was till you came over. I'm not very trusting of people now ok, s-send a pokemon over next time!" she felt her tummy rumble and she stared at the half full basket and the lychee berry on the ground "No...its got dirt on it." her voice showed pain from the wounds but sadness at the berry being covered in dirt.
 
Bending down, he picked up the berry and walked over to a nearby watering hole for where the water pokemon were playing. He washed the berry off before returning to her. "Here."
 
Her eyes went wide as she watched him wash and offer it back to her. She looked at him asking "Why are you different then other people and how come they trust you so much?" she was still scared but looked around as the other pokemon gave her smiles telling her it was ok to trust him.
 
"Seriously...I thought we've been over this...I'm not like those Rockets, I'm nothing but a pokemon rancher, someone who takes in pokemon in need, perhaps breed some and offer them to professors and trainers whom I trust will take care of them, and even let them go into the wild when they're ready."
 
She slowly moved forward and took the berry eating it as she moved to sit back with her food "I'm sorry just after all that's happened...." she looked at him "Neta was the name I gave the ninetails i had before team rocket did this to us. She was my only friend and for a time family."
 
"Well, as long as you're here Neta-Rain, you're amongst friends and family." He said smiling as he took a seat on the fence a while away from her so she'd feel comfortable still. "All of us here protect one another, so you're safe here."
 
She looked up at him a slight blush on her cheeks thinking 'the sun and this angle make him look pretty cute' she looked at the pokemon eating and playing and sighed "Never been part of a big group before, and you can choose either name to call me."
 
"Neta-Rain sounds nice...since well...you're a combination of both you and your ninetails." He said smiling as he hopped off the fencing. "Well, best I tend to any injuries the pokemon might've gotten. Make yourself at home, alright?" He said smiling as he walked over to the small tent he made for any pokemon who were injured in any way to lay there.
 
After she ate she walked around looking at the pokemon feeling safe for once. She sighed and peeked inside the tent he had entered to watch him as she asked "Have you ever had any die?"
