Question Placing images in PM

I may honestly just be dumb. I'm incredibly new to the site and still learning how everything works and navigating through it since I'm coming from another role-playing site. I noticed that in private conversations that you can't upload images and can only use links to images. On public forums there is a way to upload an image from my device.

Is there no way to upload an image if I'm sending a PM to someone? Or, am I just not seeing it. For what it's worth I am usually on mobile when on the site.

as far as i know, no, you cannot upload directly from your phone. you’d have to upload the image to imgur and then copy and paste the image address into where the link holder is ^_^

Yes, it's not (yet) possible to upload images directly to conversations. Instead, you should upload the image somewhere else (here's an old thread about image host sites) and then use that URL to insert it into your convo.

It took me a while to figure out this initially - all my images posted images in PMs were disappearing if I uploaded them via Discord (it works for the first 24-48 hours) before the image cannot be accessed/displayed.

I found you can also upload your image to OneDrive or Google Drive.

In OneDrive files, choose the option to be able to embed image - paste that link into your PM using the Insert Image button.
For GoogleDrive, paste the anyone can access link using the Media button.

You can host it somewhere else like imgur and link them.

There is a certain degree of legal liability in hosting PM images myself that I do not wish to take on.

I'm able do this (left image) just by right-clicking an image, copying it, and pasting it, without uploading it to another site host or anything like that. How does that work, exactly? If that image goes down, will this one go down? It's not referencing the link, as far as I know.

Similarly, I was able to copy this image (right image) to my clipboard and paste it, and this was simply an image saved on my computer, not hosted anywhere. Its only transition to the site was via my clipboard. I'm just curious, I suppose, how this would not be considered BMR hosting the image.

Interesting... I just tried and you're right.

I can also copy and paste an image into a thread... but I could not in a PM though.
Are you able to?

I believe a pasted image is treated as an attachment to your post; the URL of the first image is https://bluemoonroleplaying.com/community/attachments/47935/.
