As Though There Were No Tomorrow (PoisonousIvee/Mr.Aznable)

“Sir she’s dead if she goes back to the Legion, and she has no one. The mojave is a hard place, we can’t just leave her out in the open.”

Jackson gave a heavy sigh, leaning back in his chair, "Alright. She's your responsibility. Any space, food, or water she takes is all on you."

He left, making a soft noise. “You’re under my care now.” He said to her as they walked towards his billet.

"Of course..." She replied, and moved into his housing with him. She looked around slowly before turning to him, "Do you require anything?"

She hesitated, "I'm a bit hungry..." She muttered shyly, almost afraid to confess such a need, "If...that's alright...?"

He nodded. “Yeah, that’s fine, of course it’s fine..” he said with a small grin. The billets they had didn’t support a kitchen, so he handed her some ration packets. He grabbed one for himself and began showing her how to prepare them.

She watched him and repeated his actions, finding this form of food to be quite interesting. He didn't have to hunt for it? And it cooked itself? This was very unlike what she had been told about the Bear.

She had no idea about pre-packaged foods, which was baffling to him. How scarce was food in the Legion?

She didn't scarf it down when it was done, so she must have been fed enough. Had to be, looking like that. No, stop. Don't think like that.
Teaching her how to be normal was going to be tough.

He shook off his indecent thoughts, and he tried to talk to her about the differences in cuisine.

"I'm so used to gecko and squirrel..." She said, sitting close to him as he explained things to her, "I haven't had anything pre made that wasn't pre-War...the B- NCR is able to make things similar to pre-War food?"

“Yes, of course, the NCR is an amazing place.. whole cities can produce food like this..” he said. “Of course, some of these rations are pre-war, but some scientists have found ways to clean them of radiation..”

"Not having to fight for RadX or Rad Away just to eat sounds...so nice..." She said, "I barely remember what it was like before Angelo...I remember our Big Horners and our Brahmin but I can't... remember how we lived..."

He made a noise. Truth be told, he’d been in the Rangers since he was sixteen years old. Twenty odd years in the army had all but erased any memories of his civilian life. Different circumstances, same outcome.
