Ghosts haunt for a reason (FinnxRuss)

She wasn't sure how he'd answer her question, until she heard the screeching sound coming from the storage room door as it opened. Chuckling a bit, she went into the room, getting herself a bit of the milk. "I guess there isn't a water source on the property then." She didn't expect an answer to that, leaving the storage room to poke around the first floor some more. There had to be some clue in the house as to just how she was supposed to release Markus from whatever it was that was keeping him on earth.

Markus watched her get the milk, only being able to observe and transform his energy into food for her right now as he just stayed around her. He was unsure if she would find out on her own about what linked him to the place that made him want to stay so much, it would require a lot. Especially seeing as the stuff he was linked to was hidden away quite well in the basement. Though it was only the beginning.

After poking around the first floor rooms for a while, Rachel went back outside to take another look around, this time in the backyard. Before, she'd only seen that one building in the corner of the yard but she hadn't explored the rest of it. She walked along the side of the house, stopping when she stepped on something that sounded like wood under her shoes. Bending over to clear some of the debris away, she found what appeared to be a trapdoor, but it was chained shut. She would have to talk to Markus about it the next chance she got, making a mental note of its location.

Markus followed her, remembering why he had chained the trapdoor. He rarely ever used it besides to store stuff beneath the house. He didn't know how to help her in this form because he didn't have enough energy to keep himself running in a materialized state where he would be able to open it for her, using the key he had stored away somewhere in the house.

He could always leave some sort of trail, leading her to where the key was kept. Rachel walked around the house, making note of where things were in relation with the house, and where she could and couldn't go. After she was done, she went back inside the house, and up to her room for a little nap.

Markus followed her around the property. He had no clue what might be hiding in the basement so he wanted to be there to open it and protect her in case something was in there. He followed her back into the house later, floating with her to her room but not touching her as he watched her taking her nap.

She could sense him nearby, even though she was still sleeping. She woke up an hour later, sitting up and stretching as she looked around the room. It appeared empty, but she could still somehow sense that he was there. "Markus? Show me some sign that you are here. I have some questions for you."

Markus had watched her the entire time and then she asked for a sign. He flinched for a moment, was she able to sense him? He decided to give her what she wanted and moved the chair in the room to the middle of the floor from being by the table, letting her see that it was moving without any help.

The air in the room was a little chillier than it had been before she laid down for her nap, so that was one clue that he was there. Watching the chair move across the floor, she moved to the edge of her bed. "I saw a trapdoor behind the house, but it had a chain on it. Is there a key that unlocks the chain somewhere in the house? I am curious as to what's down there."

Markus heard her question, he understood that she wanted to find out what was happening and what was where. He closed his eyes for a moment, locking away before he figured out how to signal it to her. The desk was still covered in dust and even if he had an etheral finger, it worked in the dust, typing in for her to wait until tomorrow with finding out, the time wasn't right yet.

Looking around the room to try and pinpoint just where he was now, she noticed a message being written in the dust covering the desk. Rachel stood and walked toward the desk, looking down as the message was being written. "Why do I have to wait till tomorrow? It's just you in this house, right?" Well besides her, at least. She wasn't in danger from herself though.

Markus typed in another part of the dust, telling her that he couldn't show her where the key was, only he was supposed to know it's location. He wanted to be there for the opening of the basement because he knew that he had other plans developing, maybe it wasn't just enough for him to pass on to the other side, maybe he wanted to stay there with her and do with her whatever he wanted. The thought of keeping her there for an eternal life seemed interesting to him.

She sighed, moving away from the desk. "You just don't want to show me where it is. Are you hiding something down in the basement?"

She spent the next few hours wandering the house, looking for something to keep her occupied. Before she knew it, it had gotten dark outside, and the clock near the stairs was chiming midnight. She went back to her room when she realized how late it had gotten, and started to undress for bed.

Hearing the clock, Markus felt the energy rush. He hadn't answered her last question because he knew it wasn't time to open the basement. He felt the energy surge through his etheral form and as he focused his energy while she undressed, he materialized. He was wearing the exact same clothes as before as he watched her undress, seeing her figure but not saying a single sound.

She already had her clothes off, and was in the process of removing her bra and panties, not yet noticing that he'd entered the room, figuring the chill she felt was the night air coming in through the open window. They were out in the middle of nowhere, so she didn't have to worry about peeping toms, at least of the living kind. She slid out of her panties, turning to get a nightgown from her suitcase, jumping and grabbing a blanket to cover herself when she noticed him standing there. "Markus! What are you doing up here?"

Markus chuckled by the sound of her words as he watched her cover herself. He then walked up close to her, looking into her eyes deeply. "Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you." He told her, feeling the same feelings towards her all of a sudden that he had felt towards Catherine. However much he was planning on going to bed with her, she would have very little chance of turning him down.

She took a step back, only to fall on the bed. "Markus.. I'm trying to change for bed.. Please give me some privacy." She didn't like the look in his eyes as he looked at her, and pulled the covers completely over her body. "I'm not afraid... I just don't like strange men appearing out of nowhere while I'm changing...."

Markus heard her words as he chuckled softly again, moving onto the bed and under the covers with her, not giving her a moment as he let his hands run over her soft and warm skin before pulling her in against him. "I'm not a strange man, and even if you are changing, you have nothing I haven't seen before." He whispered to her softly, a slight amount of seductiveness in his voice. "And besides, your body is beautiful." He added, hoping he could work her around.

When he got on the bed with her, she jumped up, moving away from the bed. "Markus! You are a ghost.. how could you possibly... Is it even possible?" She didn't know a lot about ghosts, but it shouldn't be possible for one to sleep with a living being... right? "I'm not Catherine. She died a long time ago!"

Markus was angered by her words even though he knew that she was right. He got out from the bed, standing in front of her and softly taking her hand. "It's possible, and you have to help me, this is a part of what happened between Catherine and I." He told her, as he pulled her in close, not seeming bothered with her body only being covered in her bra. He hadn't seen such a device before but he knew how to work it. Though he waited for her response for now.

Rachel wanted to get away, but there was something keeping her from moving, and she thought that it was Markus that had frozen her in place. "Markus... I'm not Catherine. I'm Rachel. I want to help you, but how can this help?" She could only watch as he approached her again, clad in just her bra. She wished she hadn't yet taken off her panties, but there wasn't much she could do about it now.

Markus heard her words, the feeling inside his chest burning him even more. "I know you're not Catherine but for you to help me, you have to understand what happened with me and Catherine." He told her, holding her in his arms. He hadn't frozen her or anything, he was only holding her gently in close against him.

She looked up into his eyes, torn between running away, and letting him have his way with her. Maybe it was more than just her looks that reminded him of his lost love. "Markus.. can't you just tell me?" Though, without realizing it, she stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to his, almost as if something, or someone, had taken control of her body.

Markus felt her lips against his own, her soft and warm lips agains his as he kissed her back, his arms embracing her and pulling her in against him as he wanted to have her that night. He wasn't sure of how but he knew that he was going to be with her. He didn't hold the kiss for long before he slowly broke it, looking into her eyes. "I can't tell you, I can only show you this part." He whispered to her softly, holding her in his arms still.

She nodded, pulling away from him to remove her bra, revealing herself fully to him. She knew she shouldn't but she felt like she no longer had any control over her own body. She had assumed that Markus was the only ghost in the house, but if something was controlling her actions, perhaps he wasn't alone after all. It just never occurred to her that it was not someone else in the house, but someone else inside her.
