It wasn't often where Able would offer his gratitude for someone's help. Often, he would seek to pay back a kind gesture with a favor of his own. Ever since meeting Merri back in Duviri however, he learned the strength of using the right words. Won over through her persistence with kindness and compassion over all things, not only has she won his heart over, but she taught him a lesson: Honest appreciation of one's help can be just as meaningful as the act itself. The demon felt a warmth inside of himself after hearing Tai thank him after helping the prince rescue his lover and her closest friends from the ice prison on Fenrir. He also saw how powerful it was to have the third and seventh work together once they genuinely appreciated each other's efforts.

Believing that if all others could change, he could change too, Able decided to step out of his comfort zone to thank his best friend. If not for Fate, he doubted that he would have gotten so close to Merri. "Don't mention it. I'm sure that you'd do the same if you saw me and Ana going through something similar." By now, it was well apparent that there was an underlying chemistry that lingered between the "human" and the "succubus." Given the fact that she was becoming a regular visitor of the Midnight Cafe and a frequent face coming out of his room, the other boys held little doubt that she won him over.

"We're friends and we're family, Able. No matter what. We'll be there for each other." The kami placed a reassuring hand on Able's shoulder, aware of how far he came if he was willing to thank him in public about it. Taking note of the gifts in hand, the kami glanced over the different names of gifts he prepared in advance, finding at least one of the gifts labeled for each member of the crew in Able's handwriting as well as some of the regulars too. "Oh? Nymph and Bliss are coming too? Alter also?" Fate scratched his chin, appearing as though he was curious over the contents of each box. Though, while he knew what present everyone else was to receive, the one labeled with Ana's name on it was a mystery to the god of foresight.

"Interesting." Waving a spell to summon gifts from a rift in the void, a pile of presents landed in Fate's hand. While much smaller volumetrically compared to Able's pile himself, each held an accessory befitting that of a higher tier angel, tastefully crafted by the kami of crafting himself for a favor. "I've actually gotten a few things for you and the others too." Among his gifts was a watch with a studded wristband for the demon himself made with a few natural jewels from Able's hellion homeland.

"They aren't anything fancy, but I'm sure you would appreciate it!" Walking with Able, the two were eventually able to make it to the center of the cafe where a hologram of a tree stood in the center of the room. Nearby tables and chairs have been moved to the side to give the found family space to spend time with each other next to the magical fire. "Oh? Did you learn that in Noctua?" Able noted the use of his portal spell. "Yeah, they were teaching classes about it." Wielding his lies as deftly as he did his truths, Fate hid behind a little white lie.

Ordering his army of assistant drones to help set up the room to their liking, Sen did his best to help Sev out where he could. He knew that Sev's eyes weren't the best, though he wasn't willing to bring it up at the moment. Instead he offered to do what he could to help the vampire hero where he struggled most while their beloveds took care of gathering the guests for the event. "You know. You should be proud of what you're doing here." The human hero watched as several different species spent time together, all working towards the same goal of making their evening function be the best it can be. "The empress and Thea would have killed to see a sight like this."

"Thanks, Sen. You're surprisingly thoughtful." Using his gravity magic, Sev moved the largest tables out of the way. Even if he couldn't help out Sen with aligning the decorations perfectly, what he was able to do was deal with the majority of the blunt labor. With Io and Jin also moving furniture in from the bar and the other rooms, the cafe's dining hall began to look more like a massive lounge than a place for customers. "After hearing Merri's suggestion, I thought it would be nice to try it. If it gives us an excuse to spend time together making memories like this, then I don't see why we shouldn't." As he moved the counter out of the way, his hand trembled for a moment, nearly causing him to lose grip of the massive piece.

"Hold on, Sev. Relax. We don't need to rush anything." The vampire was still recovering from his lapse in feeding. Long periods of time spent dry had made the influence of the scars induced by past poison on his body worse. "I can't have you in the medbay while everyone else is having a good time." The human rolled his eyes, gesturing with his hand to get the dragon and his robot friend to move the counter in Sev's place. "Jin, Io. You know what to do. Let's give Sev a break. He's been working since the morning." The two nodded as they turned to each other, using each other's arms as leverage to lift where they ordinarily took orders to go. With the heavy labor now someone else's responsibility, Sen sat nearby and patted the table to get Sev to sit down across. "Come on. Take a break. Wouldn't kill you to take a breather."

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

"Hell, being able to do this much is a lot." Sen thought of how his wife smiled when she received her early present. They were smart-shades that interfaced with her halo. Both fashionable and resilient to damage, they held within it a HUD that revealed her health and energy stores as well as messages from Sen and information about his body. After going through hell from Ten's magic, he wanted to reassure her that something like that would never happen again. "It doesn't be perfect. I know, I'm the farthest thing from it but... What you did for us then? What you'll do for us now? I think, that alone keeps you one step away from being a disappointment." The human was proud to call Sev his friend after all they went through together. "So don't you dare fucking put yourself down. You haven't earned the right to. The moment you started dating my best friend was the day you lost your right to self-pity. Be proud of yourself because I am, and I'm not wrong."

The vampire gave a chuckle, hearing his friend return back to his normal demeanor. "I could see why Raf gushes about you Sen. Whenever you're kind, it's impossible to hate you, you know? Why don't you show that side of you more often?" Sen shook his head. "Kindness isn't free and I can't have every person in the galaxy believe that I'm someone that's easy to take advantage of. If I'm kind, there's a fucking reason for it. Don't take my pride for granted, Sev." His eyes glowed with the color of his passion. While he was happy to hear of Raf's proud comments of him, he didn't want to give Sev an excuse to devalue his words. The vampire was one of the rare few he was willing to accept within his close circle.

Not many people knew that Dr. Malveillance was a twin. Drow mythology often referred to a set of male and female twins as the sun to her moon. And after multiple children, the Malveillance family was blessed in both ways: having an eldest daughter, and having a set of twins.

Two out of the three blessings were present in Lilian’s room.

Lucian, or Luci, the eldest leaned against the couch. A cake with both of their names was placed on the living room table to celebrate their special day. “I wanted to check in on you.” Her voice was low, her eyes focused on the dirty ashtray and the mess of clothes on the floor.

“I thought you didn’t smoke anymore.” Luci stared blankly, swirling a glass of absinthe in her hand.

“I don’t drink anymore.” Lily corrected her older sister. “I need at least one vice every year lest I go mad.”

His name was Locke, and he was born fifteen minutes before her. Lilian was sure that if he was alive now, that his hair would be longer than hers. He would have stood a foot taller than her and never let her hear the end of it. Unlike the professor, despite his vision being better than hers, he had a scar over his right eye thanks to a childhood accident during their snake hunting competitions.

It was his birthday today, not hers.

But what was there to celebrate anyway?

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

“The rules say that you’re too young to enlist.” She told her brother nearly decades ago.

His mind was made up, though. Drow men often had the desire to die in them. An arachnid tendency, she supposed.

“Fuck the rules. You were given an offer to be Five’s second-in-command. That's more recognition than I'll ever get in a lifetime.”

Not many people knew that Cassandra was formerly a powerful spellcaster for hire before being picked up by the Empress to give vital readings for the war. She didn’t get the same recognition due to her frequent hospital stays. Both Lilian and Cassandra had enough spellcasting prowess to destroy star systems if they wanted to.

Lily shook her head. “That’s different. I’m turning it down… I want to stay here so there’s something left after this senseless violence comes to an end. I can’t stop the rest of our family from enlisting, but I thought you knew me enough to listen to reason.”

Locke chuckled, though it was clear that the laughter tasted bitter in his lips. He knew she made up her mind too. Drow women often needed to get the last word.

“Lily… you’re making a mistake.”

“And so are you.”

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

That was their only disagreement and the last time they spoke.

She had a feeling years later that Cass hadn’t offered her the position because she knew Lily would accept it. Instead, Lily felt perhaps the elder fairy offered her one final line of communication futilely, a unique chance to connect and travel with her brother before he parted from the world.

Lily was too young. Too stupid and too young. What did the Lily know about divination anyway? She never had much of a natural grasp for that magical subject throughout both of her doctoral degrees. Was it supposed to be her fault for not knowing?

The drow took a drag of her cigarette as she sunk into the couch.

Sometimes she wondered how Arc was. Lily wondered if Luci did too.

You fucking idiot, Lily cursed her brother every single day for dying honourably. Stupid fucking idiot. “For your namesake, I’d be surprised if you knew how to unlock a padlock if it spread its legs for you. She wiped a stray tear as she stared at both of their names written on the untouched cake, with a singular candle placed just for her.

“Stay in school.” Were his last words before he joined the rest of her family.

For what? For half of her had remained ripped away. Not only Locke, but the professor that had inspired her in the first place. Her idol, her second mother, the same woman that nagged her for eating boiled broccoli in the postgrad lounge. As if the kami were playing a cruel joke on her, another professor soon arrived offering the same lunch that made her want to vomit sometimes. Nothing could ever tear away her life from the war, it seemed.

No matter how long time had passed, her wound remained fresh and tore open every single year.

Hours Earlier.

“OH!” The sight of a tall angel towering over the rest of the walking students pointed at the familiar arena.

Rafaela was in high spirits considering she was visiting a place with bittersweet memories. “THIS is where I used to hold training since the ceilings on the ship were so damn low. It used to be a looot less reinforced before I–”

Before Yan could cut her off, Yume spoke first, peering curiously at the ongoing events. “It looks like class is in session.” A magical wall had sealed the entrance to the arena, though glimpses of fire could be seen from the pillars. Yume scanned the sign. “They won’t be done for hours. It also seems too dangerous to audit for the day.”

The girls of the Midnight Cafe were mildly disappointed that a part of their tour couldn’t be accessed at the moment.

“Oh my, that’s a shame.” Yan shrugged, secretly glad that Rafaela wouldn’t make the tour any more graphic than it needed to be. “Perhaps we should come back in an hour or two?”

With a nod, the women walked off.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

Half of Lily's class was in the colosseum. The second half was in the classroom. That was the regular setup for Lily’s foundational magic course.

Bedside believer
Lifetime achiever
Rhinestones and no one to see.
All of godʼs glory only.
All of godʼs glory only for me.

“This class is so useless… the war is over. Why do we even need to learn this stuff?” She couldn’t remember who said it, and she didn’t care. It wasn’t exactly an uncommon sentiment in her classes. It was a boyish voice though, possibly a demon or a vampire. It was followed by an echo of raucous laughter, which irked the professor the most.

A ring of fire sealed the classroom, shooting balls of flame at random intervals. Students were supposed to learn how to act on impulse and put each flame out in as many different ways they could think of.

“Hey, be careful!” Mina leapt to deal with the jumping flames about to swallow their classmate. The boy, sensing his opportunity, casted magic of his own in the magi’s direction. Before Aiden could do anything about their classmate, the entire class was about to see only a glimpse of her power.

ENOUGH.” Lily teleported in front of his fist, stopping the mana dead in its tracks with her glowing hands. “Sabotaging your classmates is not tolerated in this class, I didn’t come here to teach a group of lawless mercenaries.” Lily scolded. “If you’re looking to do that, take an espionage class.”

The drow cracked her knuckles, swearing she could feel a vein pop in her forehead as she provided her last lecture of the day. “There is a reason evocation studies are a mandatory requirement for many magical majors. That reason is my fuel for continuing to teach this class time and time again.”

“I want you all to protect yourselves from tyrants that threaten to tear the galaxy apart again. I want you to be able to protect those that can’t protect themselves. For those that the devastation left behind. You are LUCKY to be sitting in this very arena and be able to complain about learning how to protect yourself.
There are people that cannot feel anything at all. There are professors here teaching the children of dead soldiers. There is a professor here that died for all of you, who taught her students until her last breath. And until the lunar goddess pries my soul from my cold dead hands, I will do the same.”

Lily thought of her idol and old friend, Nagi. She was thinking about her as she continued her impassioned speech.

“The history of this institution is built atop a foundation of blood and pain for those that don’t bleed. Many of us have lost family, and have seen the war firsthand. Some of us are still alive. And trust me, it is not the privilege or celebration that you’d think it is. A ring of practice fire is nothing compared to goddesses that could swallow entire planets or terrorists that can rewrite vast swaths of memories or your very perception of self. What would those heroes say if they saw you behaving without a semblance of honour?"

"Do you think they’d be proud of you?

Snap.

The silence after her impassioned speech was deafening, allowing her magic to echo throughout the room. The flames around them began to die down. Without the ring of fire, it looked like an auditorium again.

Around them, the surroundings reminded them that their star-system was infamous in the worst ways.

Everything from the green grass to the marble and glass that built their auditorium was imported from now-peaceful nations. Rubble and blood had been cleaned from the former barren wasteland decades ago. If someone born yesterday stumbled across the prestigious campus, other than the memorial statue of Professor Hoshino, they would have never known the carnage and tragedy that took place here.

“Have respect for the rules. If not, I beseech you to follow at least some moral code.” She slammed her spellbook closed. “Class dismissed.” Lily dropped the magical barrier that protected the arena.

Unlike every other lecture, she left promptly, removing any option for students to ask any other questions.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

“Do you want me to leave, Lily?” Luci said, unable to stop the flow of tears that flooded her younger sister’s face.

“Was I… too tough on them, Locke?” Lily dipped her head onto her tear-stained couch cushion. “Gods… they’re only children. How horrible was it for me to yell…” Her lower back was aching from another day of pushing her body to her limits. All she wanted to do was sink into a hole. It was too bad her own stubbornness prevented her from giving up when there were future generations depending on her to lead by example.

Luci stepped out with a sad look, closing the door quietly behind her. “Look, I’m going to check in on you later tonight. I’ll be here for the entire week if you need it.” Seeing her sister lose herself to grief on her own birthday was not a new phenomenon. Drow women often had to be their own catalysts to change. No one else, even their fellow moon sisters could pull them out of their spiral.

Nighttime deceiver
Heartache and fever
Deadlines with nowhere to be.

As her sister left, Lily glanced for a second at the half-finished bottle of absinthe. It was tempting… to lose herself as she once did long ago, even at the expense of her own family’s concern.

Fuck, I’m pathetic.

Lily picked up her phone and its old cracked screen and dialled his number. “Azazel.” The drow spoke his name once he answered on the first ring, doing her best not to crack as she spoke.

“It’s me… Lilian.” His voice was low but in high spirits, calming her down through her phone’s speakers.

Lily chewed her lip, her heart suddenly racing when he picked up. The drow prayed he couldn’t hear her voice shake. She let out a small exhale when he told her a joke. “Me? No, for the last time, it’d be inappropriate to address you openly that way.” Her hand reached to her cheek, hating how warm her face was getting.

“Do you have some time you could block off from your calendar tonight? Right now…?” Lily chewed on her lip. It wasn't like her to make plans last-minute. She looked around at the mess surrounding her living room table and sighed. The drow supposed she could easily toss some of the mess behind her apartment if she was desperate enough. Yes… you can come in anytime, actually. I can show you where the spare keys are when you arrive."

"I shall see you then.”

“...Zel.”

Slowly covering his daughter with her favorite blanket, the assassin kissed her forehead. "Goodnight, Thea. Sweetest dreams." A warm, fanged smile was the last scene that played in her waking world before her mind took her to dreamland, leaving the two vampire lovers to their lonesome. With the war coming to an end and a lack of a need for fighting, there was only one obstacle remaining in the way for his peace: His fiance's ambitions. Despite becoming victorious, several corporations had sought to restart the flames of war, seeking to make profit off of a need for military industry. Rebel cells were also present, awaiting for an opportunity to claim their own independence once again. With many still nervous about forming a peace with former enemies, there were still a slew of reasons as to why she never felt like the job was finished; Even with the war gone, peace had felt so far away. Though, that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy his peace with her in the moment. They had fought hard for a chance to be able to spend a night together without fear of someone taking their time away.

Slinking quietly out of the room to avoid disturbing her slumber, Sev slowed down the closing speed of the panel doors just enough to keep her in her dreams. Breathing a sigh of relief upon finally hearing the doors close, he walked over to the kitchen to grab a couple bottles of their favorite blood wine before returning upstairs to find his love in waiting. Candles were already lit beside a vase holding a couple flowers from her homeland. Plates holding a steaming steak atop had decorate the surface of the dinner table. It was a scene that reminded him of their first anniversary, except this time, it was held in the privacy of their own home versus the top floor of a popular restaurant. "Did I keep you waiting, my love?"

Approaching his fiancé, Sev took her hand to give her knuckles a kiss, before pulling her close to rest her head into his chest. "To think, you'd be as beautiful as the day we first met." For a moment, he let his words linger, before shaking his head. "No... That isn't right. You're more beautiful now. Your genuine smile reminds me of your home in spring. Of the flowers in bloom." Releasing her fingers from his grip, he rested his hands around her waist, looking down at her with a faint blush reaching from his eyes to his lips, admiring the people they had become. From a psychopath to a father, once with a frozen heart now thawed through love, the monster to many had felt at home beside the first woman to see him for more than his ability alone. Yan gave this weapon a reason to live, a purpose beyond the war. "...And I couldn't help but feel blessed by the kami of luck, finding you out of every other soul this galaxy has to offer."

With her nod and her smile given as romantic affirmation, Sev took Yan in his arms, taking the reigns of their dance and guiding her slowly, one foot at a time. It was a simple, beautiful motion only meant for themselves, an act that brought their eyes close to each other and their focus attentive to the sways of each other's bodies. Moving in union with their faces so close, he could feel the breathing of his lover's lips on his, reminding him that this moment with her was no dream, but real. With the record player singing old music from a time long forgotten, the vampire was given a glimpse of a time that never was, a normal life spent with the woman that made him whole.

"So be sure, it's true. When you say... I love you. It's a sin... To tell... A lie..." Whispering the lyrics, the hero slowed his feet to a stop. Even if his eyes weren't perfect, it didn't take away from the beauty standing inches away. She was a living masterpiece, and he was one of her biggest projects made complete. If he was the ocean, she was the light that gave him life. If he was her garden, she was the flowers that decorated his once barren ground. If he was her night, her moon in the sky, she was the star whose light reflected off of him, the gravity that drew him with her orbit. She was his happiness made manifest, and through her, his daughter had a full family.

"I don't know what the future holds, darling. Truly..." Once the music had lulled into an instrumental, her husband-to-be had shared his truth. "To be honest, I never expected to live after the war. Let alone this long. Like the other assassins that came before me, I believed I would be disposed of once everything was said and done, to leave the weapons in the past. Yet you..." Her hands were warm, a salve to his own frigid damnation. "You gave me a reason. A home. A future." Her presence was the rain to his desert, a need he never knew he had. "You've taught me the meaning of love... How to love and how it felt to be loved." Pulling her in, he drew her into a kiss. While this was a night that she said he could do anything he wanted, he felt no better use of it than this: To remind her of how much she meant to him and to remind himself of what it felt like to be hers.

Rare was that night that they could spend together in peace. Even rarer were the moments where he could dwell upon their truths. During the breaks between her unknown missions, Sev never took her time for granted. Soon, she said. Soon, they will be together to make up for their time apart for an eternity. "Whatever future you have planned, whatever dream you hold for us, I'll welcome it with open arms. As long as we end up together, as lovers and as family, that's all that matters to me." He kissed her again, this time letting his lips linger on hers for longer.

Another quarry, driven to their demise by the vampire's blade over selfish pride and defiled ambition. For every enemy the seventh hero had brought to their end, several more had sprung up in their place. The galaxy in war was a land where the corrupted sprung up like weeds in a garden. Stubborn and many, the assassin was merely a tool honed to excise those that drained the soil, preventing healing from taking place. Sebastian was a weapon passed down to the empress by the vampiric realms, an instrument meant to purge sin through beautiful violence before being disposed of once dull. Yet somehow, the gods of fate, destiny, and future had looked fondly on this father. Given a reason beyond blind devotion, his family, his edge was made sharp enough to cut through whatever the god of the afterlife intended for him. He had a reason to live beyond the war.

"But you're going to need much more than this to stop me from seeing my family again."

sword-inuyasha.gif
Sheathing his blade, Sev turned his attention back towards the castle he fought atop of. Several members of his crew were captured, sentenced to an unknown fate within the confines of this prison. While his assigned mission was complete, his heart refused to accept his work here as done. Yan didn't risk herself to infiltrate for this information just for him to settle with any less. Thea did not root for him from his ship, despite its dangers, because she thought of him less of a hero. Marching towards the enemy once again, he made his choice to brave the dangers of the dungeon. Love was a powerful force that stripped him of his fear. Combined with sound judgement, Yan had made him a power to be reckoned with, a monster turned hero deserving of the title of Seven.

His presence demanded attention. The dark armor he wore commanded gravity. As Sev entered the building once again, now that their master had been slaughtered on castle grounds, a screeching alarm had been sounded. Guards had mustered from across the forbidden sanctuary, each armed to the teeth in weaponry and armor. Their pride wouldn't allow him to secure another victory without resistance. If he managed to do so, it would make a mockery of them as a species. "I'm surprised it took the death of your master to finally rouse your attention." Entering the first room, he was met with the surprised glances of several armored cyber-vampires. The lack of respect and the fear within their eyes had made him believe they were taken from a younger generation, well separated from the times of old he originated from. "Shame. I'd warn you. You take one step to get in my way and it'll be the last of your young eternity."

Foolish and ignorant, one of the vampires had seen this opportunity as a way to boost his family's reputation. Taking the head of a hero would boost his bloodline to superstardom and bring wealth and influence beyond imagination. Though, as soon as he took two steps towards the hero, he fell, seeing his own body fall second to his own head. The vampire hero's threats were not made without the strength to back it. As the others looked on, thinking about the best course of action for their own survival, Sev didn't give them more time to think. His feet were already moving towards the door. His mind was set on a mission to free his own people and kill all who dealt them harm. Judging from the innocence on several of these guard's faces upon seeing a dead body for the first time, it grew clear that they were nothing but innocent children given toys they were never meant to have due to nepotism. If it wasn't for Thea, he would have held no qualms with ending a young life, but in each, he saw bits and pieces of his daughter: Hope for a kinder tomorrow.

"Don't sacrifice yourself for someone who couldn't recognize your value." Reiterating the words of his dearest obsession, the vampire guards had made their way for the gravity assassin to pass through uninhibited. This proverb was well rehearsed and second nature to the hero, but to many of these men and women that worked here to fulfill a paycheck while holding the respect of their families, it was the first time someone ever mentioned the message to them. Moving down a level, Sev saw a familiar pair of horns and glowing eyes in the darkness. "Fuckin took you long enough, Sev." Able lifted his guitar axe from the shattered remains of a robot, resting it over his shoulders. "Any longer and I would've thought you needed help." His snark and confidence in his master helped Sev remain at ease, even in the most hostile of environments. "Floor's clear. Don't know about the dungeon, but with the fucking alarms... I doubt we're going to be able to roam freely."

"Then let's get a move on. No doubt, the alarms would call for reinforcements from the nearby garrison." Together, they ran towards where Yan's collected blueprints had led to the basement of the castle. Apparently, it was built during the times of old when Sev was still young, fitted with a dungeon for prisoners of a forgotten time. "Does this remind you of home?" The demon mercenary teased, running through the neon colored hallways while his eyes held displays of the local map. "If not for the fighting, then maybe. But this place is nothing like Shimizu. I'm sure when I take her home, Thea would appreciate feeling like a princess." The father mused in response, imagining his daughter and his lover as the princess and queen of a minor domain by the coast. As they spoke however, Sev felt a sudden killing intent, sending a wave of gravity to hold themselves back in response as several vampire in stealth suits emerged from the darkness in front of them with blades in hand.

tumblr_mta5zdXMXG1stjws3o1_500.gif
"Fucking vampire ninja?" Able recalled seeing them in action movies as a trope, but to see them in real life was a separate story. Unlike the movies, while they were cloaked in black, their chameleon grade armor had allowed them to conceal themselves in any environment that lacked light. In addition, they had guns. "Oh, what the fu-" Before they opened fire, Sev grabbed a nearby table and threw it at them with its mass enhanced thanks to his gravity gauntlets, slamming them in the body while the two took cover behind corners. Switching their communication to their helmets, Able held still as he grabbed his laser pistol, returning fire blindly to give time for Sev to come up with a plan. [You vamps always find a way to make everything flashy. Swear.]

Opening his helmet for a moment, Sev opened a bottle that rested on his belt holding a solution of his beloved's blood mixed with ingredients from their garden that helped him keep focus. Drinking it had granted him intensified magical ability, making him more sanguine without sacrificing his own humanity. Her taste always had a way with grounding him. [I'll form a barrier. You return fire to prevent them from throwing anything that could break my concentration.] Nodding his head, the two had made true to Sev's plan. Walking in front, his one sided gravity had held the tide of light and lead at bay, devouring all they could fire at them with a handheld blackhole. Believing that they still held the upper hand, as their enemy advanced towards them, the vampires prepared their magic nullification grenades, only to have it be shot out of their hands through an automatic slew of rapid fire lasers that fired three rounds at the same time. [See? Told you these twin las-pistols were worth all the credits!]

Given the sudden outburst of weapon fire, the demon had forged an opening for the hero to take advantage of. Using whatever they fired at him against them, towards one group, he reversed the gravity well, returning all he received at once back to sender. With sword in his other hand, he was brought to a duel against the last one that remained, only for his opponent to be outmatched by centuries more of experience before ending up skewered. With the combat dying down for the moment, Sev turned to Able, finding his companion embracing his model gun, rubbing their form against his helmet and kissing both like they was alive and worthy of affection. [... That blacksmith had really done something special with those. But I'm sure he'd rather have them be used against an enemy, than worshipped like kami.] The vampire sighed, amused at the sight. [Oh shush! Don't be mad that your gravity katanas can't shoot as fast as these beautiful things.]

As the two approached where Yan had suggested the prisoners were held, immediately the happier mood had turned sour. The scent in the air had reminded Sev of the same world he rescued Thea from. This was no less a prison than it was a brothel, a place where prisoners were meant to serve their dues with their bodies. "... To think that even my kind would stoop this low." He wondered how much the other guards knew what was going on; Whether those innocent above knew of the atrocities that occurred right underneath their feet. "... I'm gonna fucking kill them." Able's heart had become inflamed with blind anger once he realized what was going on. An empty cell was the first they came across, and within it was a pool of blood on the floor next to a stained plushie. "How fucking vile do you need to be in order to do this?! To fucking people who can't fight back!"

179ced56a0419e2f55f618c37db75889.jpg
Sev grew quiet. It made sense why Yan had personally asked for him to be personally a part of the recovery team. Remaining calm, he gripped one of the bars to soothe his anger, only to have the steel contort in shape before snapping. It was hard to think of someone like Yan or Thea to be forced into circumstances like these, yet in every face he came across of both living and dead, it wasn't too hard for him to imagine someone he loved in the same position. He had grown far too used to these scenes. "Let's move on. See who we could rescue and mourn the rest." While they made their way further and further into the dungeon, they found humans and other victimized species left it catatonic states, unaware of reality as their minds had retreated inward. Others retreated from the bars, assuming that the demon and the armored hero were a part of their captors. Despite how he felt, he couldn't blame them. Other than the alarms, there was nothing identifying about them that showed that they were there to free them. "Why aren't we saving them, Sev?"

"We can't free them unless we know the way is clear for them to retreat safely. Raf and her people will be here soon to claim victory over this planet. We're just here to make their ground fall easier for them. At least, with their master dead and Raf's fleet above, its unlikely that they would have time to even think of doing something to the prisoners here in the meantime." While they moved, they heard the sounds of orbital bombardment from above, each explosion in the atmosphere leading to a thump that put fear in the prisoners inside. Though, while he acted like he was in control, the moment he saw a familiar color of hair in one of the cells, Sev had lost control of himself, ripping apart the material that lay in between her and freedom.

"Cait!" Able ran inside immediately, cresting his arms around her and shaking her. She was bruised and naked, signs of malnutrition were obvious and many. "Cait! Can you hear me? Are you okay? Where's Jupiter?" He took off his helmet, tossing it to the side for her to see him in the darkness. Her overgrown hair had covered one eye, though with her other, upon hearing his familiar frequency, Hecate awoke. "A... Able?" Her voice was weak. "Seven? Is this... A dream?" Her eyes had attempted to cry, but only a sliver of tears came out. Blood had come from the other one, spilling demonic crimson on his armor. "Its not, Cait. We're here. We came to save you and Jupi-"

"He's gone. He decided to defend me and... They made him an example." She clutched her arms around Able with whatever strength she could muster. "God damn it... We were too late!" The demon cursed, over and over again. Believing that they were safe, Sev took off his helmet as well to reassure his close friend's partner that she was truly safe. His eyes were what instilled confidence in his people and his family. "We made it in time to save her. That's what matters, Able. Let's focus on what we did right, less we become paralyzed thinking about what didn't." Walking over, he placed a hand on Able's back where her hands had interlocked, both giving comfort to each other to reduce the shock from Jupiter's loss. "Can you stand, Hecate?" She shook her head. "My legs, they... They did things that..." Wrapping his arms underneath her legs, Able picked her up. "You don't have to share. Let's just get you back home." As Sev turned around, he saw a blur move quickly towards him, striking him at his eye. While he was able to catch the glove of his attacker, the damage had been inflicted, spilling a green ooze from his wound.

Withdrawing himself, the warden dealt damage upon his serrated dueling sword's exit. "I've heard much about your regeneration and its limits, friend." Sev felt a pulsing ache come from his wound. "Sev!" As Able attempted to approach, she felt Hecate shivering in his grasp. "T-the warden." The vampire who struck at Sev was a champion in his own right, though with desires twisted beyond what the empress was willing to allow. "Oh, Hecate~ You were a bit of fun. Perhaps I should make you an example like Jupiter. What do you think, you being shamed in front of your rescuers. Your hero. Wouldn't that be..." He licked his lips. "Delectable~"

tumblr_oojgksLmS61w4oiizo1_500.gif
"Alas, I'm not the one to blame for your circumstances. It is all the empress entirely. Choosing him instead of me to be a hero. How foolish." Lifting his blade towards the armored hero, the fencer had readied his weapon. "En garde, vampire. Let me show you just how far beneath me, you truly are." Accepting the fencer's challenge, Sev took both of his blades and charged, leading to a single exchange of blows before having his katanas be knocked out of his hands. "Oh~ Not used to the blind spot?" He teased, though Sev didn't appear phased at all. As the fencer stabbed once again, aiming for his head, Sev grabbed the fencer's blade, letting it bury into his gauntlets before snapping it. "Huh?!"

Sev wasn't the best sword fighter, nor did he have to be. But where he lacked, he made up for in guts and bravery. He was trained to be the weapon, not just in one art but several with his body. "Then it looks like you'll die better than me." Using the snapped blade as his weapon, he uppercut the vampire's stomach before pulling him back with gravity and impaling him atop his own blade. Holding him out, he commanded his weapons to rejoin his side through his enemy, ensuring that the final blow was dealt, only giving the fencer enough life to hear his words.

There was a lot he was curious about, from who potentially would have leaked the intel to how he was able to know what type of poison to use against him. However, upon closer inspection of the face that ended Jupiter and abused Hecate, something else had come to mind. "Congratulations. You were the worst person to have ever stained my blades." Crushing his head through gravity magic, Sev reduced the brain that fathomed the horrors against these prisoners and his people to mist. While he usually did his executions in a quicker, more merciful way, this time, he felt personally motivated to ensure some suffering before letting the demons in hell figure the rest out. Eternal torment of the soul was made personal to those who hurt the people the devils below fancied. "Sev, are you okay?" Able glanced at his wound with curiosity, concerned that it was far more severe than the vampire had acted. "I'll be fine. Just don't tell Thea about this."

Ten threw his book at the thrall responsible for letting him know about the happenings of the galaxy. Angry that his brother still walked the galaxy, he took a few deep breaths. "You know what? Just leave my room. I don't want to look at any other failures right now." With a polite bow, the servant took the book that was thrown at her returning back to the confines of his glorious battle-yacht. Flaunting his family's fortune and influence, Sev's younger brother was accompanied by his glorious neon ship, known as the Golden Palace. It was his way of taking a spiteful shot at the Midnight Rider. Whatever the Rider had, he made sure it was better. Faster, larger, and much more luxurious across all facilities, he was a castle that moved faster than light across the stars, equipped with enough weaponry and staff to make it a floating fortress.

Turning back to the report, Ten sighed. "At least that fucker inflicted the poison that I needed him too. No doctor around should be able to take care of that." Turning the page, he looked at the information of the third hero's whereabouts. After his conflict with Gabriel, he went missing from the public eye. Most had thought him dead and Rafaela was forced to continue her campaign without him. "Perhaps its time to celebrate taking the two most annoying men around Yan out of her life." Pouring himself a glass, he smirked as he ogled at his reflection in the mirror.

Sitting at a diner on opposite ends of a table, a demon and a dark elf were discussing the fate of a hero over dinner. "I get it. The peace of the galaxy is held, somewhat, by the fate of your hero, but even then." Cutting into a poached egg, the drow had spilled his yolk over his shredded hash browns to give it added flavor. "What's not to say that another, better hero will rise in Seven's place. Isn't that what they asked for the third?" Cobalt glared at Able upon bringing the third hero up, knowing well that the hostile opinions towards Sen were also shared among members of Seven's crew. "To have him be replaced by a powerful angel? Piss off." Rolling his eyes at the thought of giving away his hero's whereabouts to save another had left a sick taste in his mind. Sen was often a forgotten name but a critical piece when it came to making sure the heroes were well equipped and taken care of before big missions. Ever since he disappeared from public view, the empress' forces had begun taking pyrrhic victories over those valiant ones in battles where they had favorable odds.

slamming-fist.jpg
Angry, Able slammed his fist against the table, calling the attention of everyone around to where he sat. "Because not every fucking person hated him. His inventions saved my life. I'm not so much a fucking idiot to not know how much he did for me and Sev!" He didn't care about the judgement of others. The demon was a vagabond who was used to disgust and fear surrounding him. At the least, when it came to people who disliked him for his lack of courteousness, he knew they were being honest. It was kindness that brought him confusion, and yet, despite Sen not being the most compassionate himself, what he did for Able and his crew had far outweighed those who offered sweet nothings and compliments.

"Gods, can you shut the fuck up and try to understand?" Cobalt rolled his eyes, hating the curious glances of those around. He loved certain people's attention, not deeming all reputation as good. "So I guess I was wrong. Some of you lapdogs do know of his achievements. So what? Even if you manage to convince me to talk to him about helping you, there's no convincing him to help your hero regardless." Sighing, he recalled the last time he saw Sen. The human hero was isolated in his room surrounded by different papers reading of plans against those that made living so tough. While his life was rough already before with others claiming his feats as their own, now he had to add the ire of other heroes and heaven atop of everything else. The dark elf hated seeing Sen living such a dark existence, though no matter what he could do, he couldn't imagine a way to dig him free without the help of other heroes. "You're wasting you're time trying to convince me, dumbass. If you wanted miracles, you should've asked the first hero to pray. Not me or Sen."

Grabbing him by his coat, the moment Cobalt reached in to grab another piece of his food, he was immediately dragged to his feet, forced to lean over the table. Other waiting staff had attempted to intervene to remedy the situation to no avail. Able was not an approachable figure when made. A dark aura swirled around him; Hellish clouds that moved as though they were alive. "I don't give a fuck if he's human. He's better than any fucking angel I've ever met. If you're not going to bring me to him, then I'll have him come to me!" Holding out the chip that was meant to be used in the exchange of services, Cobalt's eyes squinted upon it being retrieved from the demon's jacket. "Sev gave me this because he believed in him. I flew all this way by myself because I believed in him." Refusing to leave without starting a scene, he began to place pressure on the information that was worth battleships. "I've been told this was taken from Ten. Logs of whatever the fuck happened between him, Gabe, and Sen." As he forced strength into the small but valuable device, it bent.

giphy.gif
"If you wanna be the DAMN reason why Sen doesn't get it. Be my fucking guest." Able growled as they both reached for their weapons, not backing down from his threats. "If Sev dies, what use is this anyways? He can't be mad at me if he's dead, but Sen would be devastated, wouldn't he? Having something this valuable be lost because of petty reasons." Understanding Able's point, Cobalt hilted his weapon and sighed. "Ugh. Fine. You win. I'll take you to him. If you really meant what you said about believing him, then he'd probably be fine having you speak." Placing his fork and spoon away, as he stood up, the other humans in the diner let go of their weapons. This diner was owned by Sen and his growing number of mortal followers. Forgotten and made unimportant by the galaxy as a whole, many other species had accompanied his side, refusing to die a footnote in the galaxy's history books.

As Able made his way through the diner, he found a whole slew of armed guards and mercenaries. While Rafaela may have been surrounded by the light of the galaxy, it was Sen who made his home among thieves, mercenaries, and criminals alike. The destitute and abandoned were not people to be taken advantage of but people to be led and made powerful through a combination of intelligent and persistent minds. Every world the human touched had become a bastion of hope for the lost and forgotten. Every home he claimed as his own had served as a hub for these safe havens among the stars. Critical to all, yet compassionate to those he deemed worthy of his help, he had created a family for the alone and a future for those that had none.

"Come in." Hidden behind a bookshelf in the basement, the dark elf and the demon had found the shelf sliding on its own, revealing sliding elevator doors and a speaker from which Sen's voice could be heard. "... Able?" Immediately recognizing one of Sev's closest, the doors opened for the both of them. "If you're here, then I'm assuming Yan's intel was right." As they entered, there were no buttons inside, but as the doors closed, the elevator began to move lower and lower, far underneath the surface of the world above. "... It's been a while. How has Sev been?" Able's arms were crossed. "Not good. Someone leaked our assault in advance. Used a poison that would halt Sev's resistance too. What about you?" Upon finishing his sentence, the door panels opened once again, revealing a massive metallic complex where experiments were run. In front of it all stood two people, Sen and someone with one eye. "Seen better days. We're preparing for a mission against Ares, Gabriel's master."

42428
Sevyn glared at the demon who returned an intense stare back. "You could trust him, Sevyn. He's better than most. You can trust me with that." While the others within made preparations for the kami to eventually summon the human hero to heaven while many of its guards were deployed to the frontlines, Sen had a special antidote already encased in a capsule nearby. "The medicine in there will hold off the poison's effects for now. Yan told me in advance that you'd be coming." Cobalt appeared confused at first. "And you didn't tell me?"

Keeping his attention set on adjusting his own armor, he spoke while tightening the straps to the anti-divine plates made by the demons of hell during their past war with heaven. "Shapeshifters. There are many others who could take Able's face and demeanor. I needed you to make sure that the Able you brought me was the real one." Sen thought of the ninth heroine and her deal with the tenth. "You're the only person I could really trust that could tell the difference between someone real and someone not is you. You have a way with reading schemers, Cobalt." Caught aback by the pride his hero held in him, the dark elf stood in pride at his affinity with subterfuge assisting him with being able to sniff out that of others. "Well, you did hire the best."

Steering the conversation back to the topic at hand, Able walked towards the medicine, only to be stopped by Cobalt and Sevyn. "Hey! What gives? I thought you said that was meant for Sev." Finally finishing his preparations, the human doctor turned back to the demon. "It is, and I'm the only doctor around that could make more of it." As he spoke, a clock above the main screen which held the plan the god and the human wished to set in motion began to tick down further. "Soon, Rafaela would lead a battle with the angels in tow, leaving heaven unguarded. During that time, I have a role for you to play. You help me make sure that this mission goes well and you'll have a deal." Putting his white lab coat atop of everything else, he gave Sevyn a nod before seeing the god take his leave through a blindingly bright portal beside him with a solution in his hand.

ꜱᴛᴀʀꜱᴛʀᴜᴄᴋ - ɪᴛꜱ ᴀ ɪɴᴠᴇꜱᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ!

"Hey, Kai. Be honest with me." In a world surrounded by skies with falling stars, an eldritch warlock and his demon captain rested in a trench after an hours long skirmish against their stubborn enemy. What was meant to be a swift conquering of a planet had ended up with a stalemate once the Empress' advancing forces met with a rebel citadel, beckoning reinforcements to arrive in mass to avoid giving the rebels any more time to reconcile their defenses.

"What is it, Cross?" Staunching the flow of blood to his injury, thanks to the pressure of the tentacles that erupted from the warlock's clothes behind a tightly pulled tourniquet, very little of his best friend's dark life had escaped from his body. Even with the scientific advancements made in reinforcing the demon lancer captain's vanguard-type armor, the reverse-engineered weapons of their enemy was more than enough to pierce its shield and armor thickness, though it did reduce what was a mortal wound down to something capable of treatment. "It's not like I'm going anywhere anytime soon." Kai chuckled, injecting humor to reduce his twice-born friend's anxiety.

"... After all of this is said and done and we both make it out of here..." Refusing to let his anxieties win, Cross remained hopeful for their circumstances. Their victory would soon be assured. While the many reinforcements were sent here to garrison the planet, where his hope lied was in the heroes that were soon to come, rumored forces of nature that walked among them. "Do you think we'd be able to find someone to accept us both for who we are?" His unique combination of form and mind had made himself hard to love. Once human, after transforming into a husk of himself that shared his body with another dark force, he knew that a normal life was out of the cards for himself. Even if his captain was of similar circumstance, changing from human to demon during their planet's transformation event, at least he appeared to be sound of mind. But unlike his captain, for Cross, every night was a battle of its own.

Noticing the shift in his tone, Kai placed a hand on his best friend's head. "I'm sure of it. You have a good heart. Maybe even the best of your kind." Prioritizing the character that the warlock valued, instead of focusing on his monstrous ability and his attunement with magic, he focused on the part that drew them both close to each other in the first place: A heart that understood. "Besides, the galaxy is a big place. See all those little sparkles in the sky?" Waving his hand at the tapestry of space and light above them, the demon gestured Cross' attention to the stars and the many pods that rained through the world's atmosphere. "Behind every star lies countless opportunities and adventures. Behind every pod lies a soul of a species that can fall in love too. Even if the people in your past may not have seen you for your worth, the odds are still in your favor."

"Don't let the opinions of those who don't matter stop you from meeting the ones who do."

Kai held out his fist for Cross to meet with his own. "Your fate has yet to be left in stone. Your story is far from over. You still have yet to meet the one that's right for you. So don't give up, okay? Who knows, maybe we might be lucky and find the right people for us through a mission." Every time Cross questioned himself, Kai seemed to always have the right words to say. He was a light in a galaxy ravaged by dark ambition. He was a hope that grew stronger in times of desperation. He was the only thing that made sense when everything else did not. The confidence and conviction he spoke with had given the warlock something to believe in. Even if he would slowly come to question himself again, for now, this was more than enough. "Gods Kai, I swear, sometimes it feels like you're a therapist reincarnated into a demon's body."

Standing in a rose garden donning the sleek armor granted by the Eighteenth hero himself, a vampire detective readied his tome as he prepared to head out. Though, before he left, he was interrupted by his brother in law holding his third daughter in his arms. "Well... If anything, ever since I met you all, I've been lucky. I've been given purpose and a reason to look forward, even now. What's to say that the same luck won't shine on me again with you all by my side?" Archimedes smiled, assuring Valo that peace was on the horizon. Ever since dedicating his eternity to his beloved and his family, Archimedes was given reason after reason to preserve the peace and future they fought so long and hard for many centuries before.

The detective and his family were among the old guard of Earthen vampires, a rare few that were able to recall a time of old where vampiric ambitions had only extended across the surface of their own planet. Little did they know much about the absurdity of the size and length of forever, yet despite their long life ahead of them, there never seemed to be a lack of new experiences. Once given a chance to see the stars, the starry skies they looked up towards during their many nights spent together had become a new world of opportunity. New foods, new sights, new adventures, new discoveries, and new memories-to-be had existed in the grand void above them. Given their bonds with influential figures back home as well, they were given ample opportunity to make these new experiences their own.

Though naturally with eternity came more cause for conflict. Altogether however, they were more than a force to be reckoned with, their strengths combined granting them a haven where they could belong. Despite the vampire claiming it to be luck that brought him safety, in reality, it was his desire to return that made him over prepare for every conflict the empress and his commanding hero had brought him to. Every single time he left, he made sure to come back unscathed to avoid worrying his family and his children about the experiences he was brought to endure. "Don't worry, I'll be back soon. I'm just answering the call for reinforcements." Leaning against the fence that separated their large house from the outside, Archimedes eyed his brother. "Maybe with the bonus he's offering me once this is all said and done, I could take you all to somewhere nice for a long vacation. I'm thinking of a beach paradise planet. Oh, and I'll be sure to let you handle the planning."

Finding his favorite detective returning to his familiar mask of confidence, Valo sighed in relief. Spying on Archimedes while he prepared the night before, he grew concerned over the serious look he gave when watching the holo-battle map unfold in his study. Whenever it came to anything that risked his life and future, he was always so intense in private. But with a sparkle in his eyes and his charisma expertly intermingled within his breath, he couldn't help himself but feel at ease now that he was made subject to the detective's attention and heartwarming thoughts. "I'm sure Twy, Addy, and Rose would appreciate that. Mia too." Soft in his response, the artist slowly hushed his daughter to sleep with a soothing sway of his arms to return inside. Within moments, he came outside with a painting in hand depicting all of them on a beach in Yokoso.

"Actually, about that. I've been painting a piece I've seen in my dreams." Given several thousand years in practicing the arts, the vampire artist was astounding in his ability to recreate the scenes in his head. They were smiling with each other, each piece of their clothes being one that Archimedes could see them donning. "I was planning on selling it to the local gallery to help buy the new jumpsuits you and Twy were looking at online, but... If you really like it, we could keep it here. I think it's wonderful personally." Content with the progress he made already, there seemed to be half the canvas that had yet to be painted. "Might give it another night before finishing it. Oh! And if you can! I would really appreciate it if you showed this to Salem too!"

Despite honing his craft for so long, he was still far from some of the greatest this galaxy had to offer. The hero that Archimedes worked for was in fact, one of the best artists this galaxy had ever seen. Being able to craft pieces that came alive was a spectacle beyond all else to the artist in training. As such, the detective had sought his recruitment in the artist hero's company, hoping to earn his brother in law Salem's tutelage as a student of the arts.

Opposite of where the demon and the warlock forged their trenches on the planet was a paladin and his daughter kneeling in rain. Their battle had come to an end once reinforcing their front, though it did not come without sacrifice. "Do you think Eos would forgive me? For who we failed to save?" In front of her lay the bodies of many brothers and sisters in arms. Each ally and enemy that fell in battle held a life like her own and she had little doubt that among those whose blood fed her blade were the souls of the innocent. The ground cried in the voices of the slain, the presence of their souls too much a burden for the samurai in training to find her peace.

"She wouldn't focus on who she couldn't save. A tragedy it may be, the main thing is that we did our best and we saved many. Our efforts haven't gone in vain." Seon-ji didn't sugarcoat the loss of a life. All throughout his life, he was surrounded by the ends of many, both of enemies and of dear companions. If he were to settle his sights on what he couldn't do, he knew he would be bound forever to his regret, chained to the same hate for himself that the priests of his past and the paladins of his present have tried to instill into him. Yet, it was a passionate flame that redeemed him, a home forged in a pure love for someone that couldn't care less for his past failures as long as he was willing to learn from them.

"Be kind to yourself. Your actions here don't deem you beyond love and forgiveness, Mana." Seon-ji's adopted daughter had a powerful heart, one that he himself deemed much more vibrant and loving than his own. Taught to love with intensity, Mana was made vulnerable to the inhumanity that came with galactic civil war. Yet in spite of this, her weapon was steady. She understood the reason why she fought so hard: For future generations to not know the same violence and vitriol that she did in her lifetime. She loved more than she wished death, seeking swift executions over drawn out, painful methods when it came to her battles. As a warrior that knew grace, she learned how to wield her blade like a paintbrush, following true to her pursuit of happiness through a peaceful future. If she were to be felled in combat, she hoped that her opponent would offer the same mercy of a swift and painless death.

"You fight with grace. If your mother was here, she'd still love you the same, promise." Wrapping his gauntlets around her to pull her into a hug, he held her close before turning her around to the many survivors behind her. Among the many living were prisoners who sought surrender over a death for a losing cause. "Let's focus on the people that are still alive; On what you still have control over. Not the past, okay?" Mana nodded her head, taking a deep breath as she let the feeling of rain ground her. "What matters is that we're still here to make a difference. The people we love are still around to place their hopes in us. The war has still yet to be won and we still have a part to play in all of it." Lifting her head and turning her back towards him, she was met with the smile of her father, the man who believed in her the most. "And no matter what happens, as long as you're trying your best,"

With his helmet removed and his cat-ears drenched in the rainy season of this side of the planet, the strength of the weather did little to make him shift or stir in his attention. His tails were at ease by his sides. The scars that covered his body held no power as he looked on to the girl he adopted from her enemy. Mana was an innocent soul given a second chance to be loved right, he wasn't going to let their fateful meeting end in vain where there was still so much more life for her to live and so much more for her to learn about what it meant to live and love well. Drawing her once again into a hug with one arm around her back and the other around the rear of her head to draw into his chest, he made the truth of his heart known.

ꜰʀᴏᴍ ꜱᴛᴀʀᴛ ᴛᴏ ꜰɪɴɪꜱʜ

Summoning a table and a couple of chairs from the blood of their enemies for his beloved, the vampire sorcerer split his rations into two, turning his magic quill into a floating romantic candlelight to set the mood of the home they left behind. Despite being in the midst of a wasteland where spells were slung in abundance just minutes earlier, now with the quiet that came with a cease in enemy activity, Fenn decided that there was no better time to enjoy his night with her than now. He was going to let the others handle the rest from here now that his role on the battlefield was accomplished. "To think, even now, after knowing each other for centuries, we have yet to find a year where the unwelcome, intruding corpse of another did not precede our valentines date. Then again, given your fascination with blood and death, I wouldn't be surprised if you saw this as foreplay." He chuckled.

Commanding the seat to withdraw backward for her to sit, Zero, his wife and favored slave, was given a place to relax before being forcibly scooched back over to the tableside opposite him. "Now where were we? Ah. Some wine to start, my dear?" Tearing a rift in reality to create a small portal to his mini-fridge onboard an Endokai cruiser, he pulled out a bottle of blood wine perfectly chilled to their preferences. Uncorking the bottle, a small stream of fizz escaped from the top, only for it to add atop what he poured into glasses he conjured into existence. An undead that grew accustomed to flashiness, he made sure to give his wife a show unlike any other. To those spectators they were aligned with nearby, it was an odd sight to see the two treating their circumstances so casually, but to the pair that was so accustomed to chaos, there wasn't too much difference between the battlefield and a fancy restaurant. As long as they had each other's company, that's what mattered most.

"To imagine that we once were enemies. That you were the one to kill me, and yet... To have my malice, my taste for revenge be so strong to bring me back, only to end up falling in love with you at the end of it all..." Holding up his glass, Fenn clinked his with the tip of her own, celebrating another victory by each other's side. "I don't think its incorrect to assume that you are a miracle worker, even if you aren't perfect at "capturing" your targets." His own "supposedly accidental" death had become a point of amusement to the vampire. It was ammo used to tease his beloved further, though in spite of all the shit he could give, he was thankful.

If not for her persistence in amending things between them, he wouldn't have discovered his purpose. If not for her violent approach, its likely that he would have never listened in the first place. If not for her being the way she was, Fenn knew that he'd be less than a quarter of the man he had developed into. Primarily due to her efforts, this happy ending was made possible. She forged a future with her flawed decision-making, leading to him seeing no other as better by his side. Proud and prideful of what they had become, regardless of all his bitching spoken in jest, a genuine smile was a constant display all throughout his words, refusing to shift or transform into a dishonest mask. "I'd ask you if killing your partners is your way of getting with them, though I'm pretty sure we both know what the truth is. Then again, it worked on me."

Upon the finishing of their glasses, he poured out another after another, conversating as he ran his luxurious reserves dry. The image that he portrayed himself as in the eyes of others mattered little compared to how she and his family saw him. Given centuries to atone for his sins committed against her, being able to improve all throughout, he was made a husband unlike any other, a good father and a loving spouse. "...Every single year, I get reminded whenever I see your smile that I never could quite get enough of you. Being by your side is never boring dear, and to be honest?"

Leaning towards her, he grabbed her chin to pull her from her side of the table, meeting her in the middle. Her eyes sparkled with every falling gleam of another soul making landfall, each with a hope that their future will come with their happiness preserved. "There's none like you. In all my years spent searching for my soulmate before meeting you, I've been met with disappointment after disappointment and I hate how long it took me to realize that you... You've been enough for me since your entrance into my life." Fenn pulled her into a kiss, warming her lips with a taste of warm fangs and sweetened whispers.

ᴀɴ ᴇᴠᴇɴɪɴɢ ᴀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍɪᴅɴɪɢʜᴛ ᴄᴀꜰᴇ

Standing at the highest floor of the citadel, the gravity assassin and his human engineer companion had ended up wounded but alive as both looked down onto the corpse of the rebel leader they were assigned to eliminate. With the walls falling around them, the two understood that their roles had been played and their time was up. There was no need to risk their own wellbeing for the sake of reputation. Fame held little weight when it came to the future of their soulmates. With the castle now fallen and the skies above won over in a fabulous display by the first fleet, upon making it outside, the two heroes were met with the first and eighth heroines themselves at its entrance, meeting each other right as the tunnel leading out collapsed behind them.

"Rafaela, you could take the claim for this castle. I was never meant to be here to begin with." As Sev turned towards the disguised human clad in a full set of armor to hide his identity, Sen refused to speak, feeling a pain inflicted by divine pressure just by being within mere proximity to her. Stubbornly believing that he could keep Rafaela safe, he took strong painkillers to keep his mind focused to work with Sev against an enemy known for bringing down angels through schemes in an odd show of compassion. Not even the curses of her husband were able to deny the strength of his stubborn resolve.

"I was here to help a friend. Not on orders by the empress. Just do me a favor and treat the prisoners with some grace. Not all of them are bad." Giving Yan a knowing look, noticing the sudden shift in tone once the world had found its peace, he pulled her into his arms to hug her. If not for Sen's help, the poison he was afflicted with would have done more to tear apart his body, though for now, it was stalled. After nearly losing his life, having a chance to hold his lover again was worth everything.

"Its been a while, love. I missed you." Taking his helmet off, the vampire kissed his heroine spy, refusing to miss another chance to feel her warmth again. "I've been keeping Thea safe in the meantime. She misses you too but... I'm sure she'll be okay with waiting a little. Its not often that we're in the same place." Speaking into her lips, he held her hands close. His relationship with her was a secret from the galaxy, but not to the other heroes they've bonded so closely with. Unlike the greater whole of the military, most of the people that were deemed heroes had created familial bonds with each other, rooting for each other's successes in a galaxy where death was likely and expected. "Besides, I have a gift for you onboard. I think you would appreciate it. Its a dress from your homeland." Bringing his lips close to her ear, he whispered towards her ear, letting his breath and fangs tickle the skin around her neck. "I can't wait to see you in it... and I can't wait to take it off of you too." His eyes were intense, hinting at his soul's resolve to make his romantic threats a reality.

Sen on the other hand had tried to open his mouth to confess his feelings, but every time he prepared to share the truth, nothing would come out. Pain was not the only affliction Gabriel's brand inflicted onto him with his brand. Cursing his circumstances and understanding that Rafaela would never be able to read his vague hints, instead, he injected painkillers into his body through needles in his armor before deciding on a different solution. "... Sen wanted to give this to you." If he couldn't tell her himself, then he was going to speak to her as though he was one of his own accomplices, portraying the role of a second or third in command through the use of the keyboard. Feeling the intensity of his brand reduced, he sighed in relief as a simulated voice spoke through his speakers. "... He wasn't able to make it to your birthday because he got hurt, but he was sure you would appreciate this."

In his hand sat a box that held a watch inside. It was a human construct, resilient to nearly all forms of damage made from the metal she mined herself. While its material was astounding, its function did little more than tell the time wherever planet she was, measuring both local and galactic time. Hidden underneath the watch's face was a little message inscribed by the human hero himself. 'So you don't take the time you have with me for granted, you hot asshole.' Interestingly, below it was another line added more recently, made as a replacement for honest words and feelings. Though due to the pain, it wasn't engraved properly. 'I love you.' Once she took it, Sen backed up, feeling his skull being burned the more he felt for her. Her reaction had nearly made him burst out in tears. 'At least she liked it.' He thought to himself.

Unfortunately for him, the gravity vampire refused to let him leave with just the bare minimum. "Hey Raf, he came a long way to bring that to you. I'm sure, if you tell him how you feel about it, Sen would know. Oh, and I doubt that's all Sen would want to say." Gently pushing him back towards the angel, Sev held his feet in place with gravity, denying him the chance to escape without sharing more. "Come on, don't be shy. What does the human hero want to tell her?"

"Te amo, mi amor. I would do all I could within my power to keep you safe." Dancing with his beloved for what could be his last time, the human fighter pilot held nothing back from sharing a final dance with his divine soulmate. She was the reason why he fought so hard in the first place. She was his reason to dream, his reason to breathe, and his reason to look forward to tomorrow. If not for the demon aggressors that threatened his homeland, he had hoped to have retired after his last mission, to live an ordinary life as an artist beside his beloved. However, this dream was far from reality. There were more battles to be won before the war could finally be brought to an end and Heaven needed its heroes.

"Must you go, Cielo? Couldn't we run away?" His angel offered another option, one considered heretical by the same kami she worshipped: Desertion of his duty. "I wouldn't mind living with you in another realm, in another place. Heaven doesn't have to be our home... It will never be home without you." Unafraid to challenge her own long standing beliefs, the angel clutched his body close as they tangoed through the evening, aware that tomorrow was never guaranteed and that tonight could be their last. She was scared, he could tell. Despite his luck in the battles that came before, his accolades earning him the title of an ace pilot even by divine standards, there was an uncertainty that came with knowing the dark forces that lay ahead. They were outnumbered and outgunned despite whatever advantage they held in equipment and training.

Yet in spite of her concern, the human refused to back down. She was able to live a normal life despite her disability due to his efforts on the battlefield. If not for her being dependent on his reputation to be guaranteed the respect and love she deserved from her parents and god as well, he may have given her alternative option more thought. However, to Cielo himself, a life hidden in shadows was far from a life that was worthwhile. The reason why he chose to be a pilot for Heaven in the first place was not to remain quiet on the ground, but rather to uphold his species and bring their value up into the skies, where the light of the kami would shine on him, unable to deny that a human was just as capable as some of their fiercest angels. The skies were Cielo's paradise; A place where he could dance against the enemies far beyond his weight, not as a human against a monster, but rather as equals.

Pulling her close, her partner reaffirmed his decision, staring confidently into her eyes as he delivered his statement. "Our lives. Our memories. Our happiness. All of that came from what we've done here together, my love. I will not stand idly and let someone else take that place away; Angel, kami, or demon regardless." Wrapping his arms around her waist, he drew her into his arms, pressing his forehead against hers while her legs grew weak. It would soon be time where she wouldn't have the stamina left in her legs to stand, yet he kept pushing onward, ready for the next step. "Remember the promise we made? Of owning a little land here to make our own? I never planned on backing away from it. Not when you've given me so much joy." The thought of spending the rest of his life with her on a quiet little homestead was enough to bring him joy.

"You may be my beloved, but I'm your guardian angel. The protector of your heart."

"I know... B-but woah!" Clutching his chest close, Estrella looked up at him before feeling her legs buckle, only to find strength in his arms holding her up. "And I'll keep lifting you up for as long as I'm here. Have faith in me, okay? The skies might be my battlefield but it's your smile that brings me back home." Wrapping one arm around her to hold her up, with his other, he reached for her chin to keep her eyes up towards him. "By the kami you're stubborn, you know that?... But you're cute when you're stubborn. I'll give you that." Feeling comfort in his strong grasp, the angel chuckled into his chest, mumbling sweet nothings into the flesh of the man who swept her off her feet. "What was that? Couldn't hear you. Was distracted by your eyes."

"Shut up, idiot. You're cute! Happy now?" Throwing a gentle punch at him, she sighed pleasantly, taking in his scent with a deep breath as she heard their music come to an end. "... I mean it though... You better come back." Unable to provide a promise of guaranteed safety, instead of potentially lying to her, he simply chose to hold her hand, promising something else instead. "I promise I'll do my best, Strella."

Seeing the lights of the stars in her eyes and the flicker of the bonfire on her skin, he knew his time was running out before he was soon to be deployed. Taking her by the legs in one arm, he princess carried her over to the opposite side of the room, finally resting her in her wheelchair. "Just so I could spend more nights dancing like this with you, mi hermosa." With a glimmer in his eyes, he found himself once again drawn to her happiness. "You know, I've been thinking about marr-" The sound of a sudden scratch of his responder had taken his attention, forcing him to pause.

"Guardian One Zero. Do you copy. You are requested on the airfield." As soon as he felt like he had the time to finish, his chance had felt taken away. "This is Guardian One-Zero, hearing you loud and clear. I'll be there soon." Grabbing his responder, he spoke into it, checking in with the operator on the other end before turning back to his beloved. "It looks like its my time to go. Thanks for spending tonight with me, Srella." Noticing a blush on her cheeks, as he turned to walk to the airfield, he felt her hand hold him in place. "If you're asking for what I think you're asking for, my answer is of course. I couldn't imagine any better fiance than you. Make sure to come back in one piece, okay? I can't marry someone in parts." Saluting him, Estrella wished to see him off with an air of respect for his combat prowess only to feeling his lips press against hers before he backed off to salute her in return.

Flying through the night over the skies of Andalusia, the two fighters traveled silently as they glided through the clouds towards their enemy positions, each pilot given a moment to speak before their skirmish with their enemy would begin. Joaquin, Cielo's best friend, had kissed the printed image of his wife he held in a secret compartment inside his helmet for good luck. "Always you with the theatrics, One-Zero." Swinging by the ace pilot's side, he made eye contact with the human as they hovered at the same altitude. "¿Cómo está tu novia?"

"Strella? Está bien. But she's more than just my girlfriend now." Joaquin grinned upon hearing the good news. The angel he fell in love with while he was in the academy was someone his entire crew had ended up shipping him with. To hear that the dreams of their many fallen brothers was becoming a reality was something that made his heart soar itself. Amused at his friend's response over last night, while their planes were set to autopilot, the husband-to-be sent a few pictures of himself dancing with the girl in his dreams with her black dress. "Ay dios mio! Ella es hermosa! You're very lucky, Cielo."

Their banter was always something he took comfort in before life threatening situations. Given their role as the aerial vanguard that was sent after their enemy as Heaven's arrow, he grew accustomed to the risk that came with his duty. What gave him confidence was the brother he had flying by his side and the woman he had waiting at home. "Worry not, I'll be sure to get you back home safely. Can't have her yelling at me for being a bad wingman." His friend laughed at the idea of her being angry. The last man who ended up pissing her off was made subject to her hidden power of divine arguments. Joaquin had little doubt in her mind that even the god Ares himself would struggle against her deluge of rapid-fired words.

"Same with you, One-Two. The only woman that my wife is second in when it comes to her anger is your own." Joining his friend in laughter, the two had felt their heart ease despite encroaching upon the sight of the dark spires of Hell's towers standing in the distance, each armed with anti-aircraft batteries meant to swat flying foes down like flies. Finally being forced to disengage their autopilot, an unsteady silence slowly overtaken them as other planes flew free from the confines of their clouded shrouds, now encased by the light of the passing moons. With spotlights breaching the darkness in front of them, it would soon be time for their battle to begin. "Joaquin. Should the worst befall me, tell Strella that I've passed away quickly. I don't want her to think that I suffered in my final moments."

Aware of the impending danger ahead, he nodded his head before pulling away from him. Reality remained soberingly cold no matter how skilled they could ever become. "Of course, Cielo. But don't think that the reaper would claim us too easily. Not without a dance beyond that which the kami have ever seen." Giving him a thumbs up, he sent the signal for the others behind them to pull lower so their enemies' spotlights and detection systems wouldn't catch them until it was too late. "If today will be our last, let's give Hell a show and immortalize ourselves in Heaven's holy history books."

Finally approaching their mission target, with their ship's ready to engage and souls set alight, the pilots fired their missiles at the largest structure sitting in the midst of it all, one that towered far above the planet's very atmosphere. With missiles firing as fast as shooting stars, a second of quiet had come before catastrophe struck the tower, ending the night with a sudden show of light brighter than the eternal stars that orbited around Heaven. Their counterattack had begun.

Behind every flying fighter was the will of the native Andalusians, each despite their differences finding a shared commonality of a taste for revenge to a foe unwelcome to their home world. With their base under attack, a barrage of light had overtook the skies as spells and futuristic weaponry had made their presence known, slamming the very air the pilots had known all their lives. Shadows erupted from the remaining pillars themselves, each holding anti-air demons ready for a chance to shine. Regardless of who they were on both sides, innocent or guilty, veteran or recruit, they were brought against each other over the selfish ambitions and prides of people that cared less about their many lives.

"Twelve-O'clock. Hay muchos demonios. Engaging." Forced to defend their planet however, the vanguard placed their opinions of their enemies aside, believing them to be equals rather than the monsters that Heaven tried to instill in their minds. Warriors arose from both sides and underestimating them or fear mongering would only spell disaster. Muttering a quiet prayer to whichever kami was still listening, Cielo asked for grace for both himself and his enemies as he fired his plasma machine guns at the incoming speed demons. "Engaging." Regardless of whatever side of the conflict they fought from, at the end of the day, there were souls on both sides. The least they deserved was the respect of a quick and painless death.

As the first wave of enemies approached their positions, while most were shot down in a hail of holy rounds, a few demons had landed atop a couple of the fighters, only to rip their claws at the cockpit and devour anyone inside. The sounds of crunching and hurdled screams had taken over Cielo's helmet, causing him to focus even further. It was these enemies that the human had fought against to keep his beloved safe from. Her eyes never needed to know the horrors of the battlefield. "Guardian one-three and one-four are down. Let's avenge em!"

Dancing through the skies at breakneck speeds, the human flew through a storm of magi-tech beams heading his way, each with the intent to swat the fighters that dealt so much destruction on the first strike out of the sky. The further he charged into their airspace, the tighter the window of opportunity to penetrate their territory undamaged became yet he stubbornly persisted onward, following the trail of his friend's tail lights behind him.

"Still in one piece, Cielo?" Joaquin checked in as their shields vibrated from the sheer intensity of unavoidable attacks from powerful air defenses. "Still here. You're not getting rid of me that easily." Quick to respond with witty banter, as they unloaded another hailstorm of divine rounds towards the second wave of approaching demons, his best friend did his best to keep up their fearless attitude. "Good. You owe me a drink for taking point when we get back home so I can't afford to have you dying on me."

Piercing through another wave, the two pilots made it through at the sacrifice of a couple more of their own. One pilot was gunned down by the hellion anti-aircraft batteries while the other was ripped out of ship by force. "Shit. One-five and one-seven are down." Entering this space as a small eight man division of elite pilots, they were cut down to half within the first few minutes of combat. However, despite the risk, they had a role to fulfill.

The largest tower ahead of them was damaged but still standing resiliently. If they failed in their mission, it was likely that it would come at a cost of many more innocent lives. To the eight that agreed to take this harrowing task, it was simply a cost they would not be willing to make. What was eight of their best compared to the millions that believed in them? As long as one of them were able to get within range of dropping their largest payloads, it would be enough to break their enemy. "We're not leaving here until that fortress is brought down."

"Never planned on it. I would have never become friends with you if I ran at the first sight of trouble, now would I?" Cielo boasted, engaging his thrusters to speed up their approach to the central pillar. Despite their initial optimism however, even the two friends couldn't deny that their circumstances were difficult at best. Shadows upon shadows had taken to the skies unwavering in their resolve for the third wave, each containing a soul that sought their destruction. Hell, unlike Heaven, had the numbers and magical ability to render even the advantages of Heaven's perfected designs meaningless. "We're together to the end... And together in the world thereafter."

"Well aren't you cute when you're scared~" As the fighting was going on, a smoking small demon girl led her minion towards the opening bay door as their allies took to the skies to defend against Heaven's surprise raid. The prediction they made on their enemy was wrong. Despite their lack of well-trained numbers, the natives of Andalusia still sought to defend against the crimson tide, even scouring out from the safety of their hiding places to fight back. If not for Heaven's attack against Hell in the first place, Diablo had little doubt that he would've been deployed on some planet inhabited by humans to put them down. Still, orders were orders and Hell's return offensive did not come out of some vain promise but rather as retribution for Hell's wounded pride.

"You know? If you want to back off now, you could always make due as my imp~ My bed can always use a hothead like you, Able~" Teasing Diablo, Lumi, his superior, offered her friend a way out. Even if they held the advantage against what their information suggested to be just a handful of human pilots, there was still risk involved. They were far from unarmed and their bravery had made them akin to cornered beasts, each ready to fight stubbornly to the bitter end.

"Just shut up and pass the yayo. Let me deal with this." Uncaring about how rude it looked to the other demons, Able ripped out her burning stick that lay right in between her lips only to take a few puffs of his own. To the demon warrior, what he inhaled was inhaled courage, something that allowed him to hone his anger into an edge that could be used as a weapon. With his pistol in one hand and a spear in the other, upon passing back the cig to the girl that owned him, he placed on the final piece of his armor: His helmet. "Those divine pricks attacked my home. They attacked where my sister and I lived! Like hell, I'm not gonna pay them back! An eye for an eye! A planet for a planet!"

Upon seeing him being too roused up for his own good, Lumi chopped his head before he set out, causing him to recoil from the sudden impact. "Ow! Hey! What the fuck was that for?!" Despite his better judgement making him believe it was for the better good, the drug was already well intermingled into his system, causing him to draw anger and frustrations towards even the smallest things.

"Cool it, Abe. These humans are far more capable than you think. Get too pissed off and underestimate them... And you won't live to see tomorrow." Speaking bitterly as opposed to how she normally spoke, her bluntness as his mentor had cut through the fog he felt from the drug. This was her sobering reminder to take this seriously. "Got it? If you don't, I'll break you fucking legs, bind you to my bed, and drain you dry so you can't run away." Regardless of how petite she might have been, she gave off a menacing aura that sent his fight or flight instinct into disarray. She meant her words.

Remaining silent for a moment, as Able held a glare, eventually he was forced to submit. "Ugh... Fine. I get it. You lust demons are so fucking weird." Returning his obedience with a smug grin, she gave a princess laugh before patting him on the back hard enough for his body to be sent to the floor. "Oh, what little do you know about yourself~ Good luck out there. I'll see you soon~" Standing himself up, he gave her a nod before preparing to join the third wave of demons. "I'll be back, Lumi... And don't you worry, I won't keep you waiting." As he departed he gave her a half-angry, half-confident grin of his own, causing her to blush brightly once he was gone. "Truly, its a shame how little you know about yourself."

Weaving through the mass of magitech armaments heading his way, Cielo continued to pursue his target, remaining close to Joaquin for the both of them to cover each other's back while the last two fighters had decided to desert their duty. While it was one thing to defend their homes, to see the fates of those who were unlucky enough to have fallen to the hands of the demons firsthand, they didn't wish to sacrifice their future. As much as the two pilots ahead of them all had words for the deserters, in truth, they understood. None of them wanted to be there in the first place, but to preserve the peace of Heaven, there were sacrifices that had to be made.

"I don't know. If I'd give you an answer, I would." Steadily approaching the third wave of demons, they were given a moment of stillness to decide whether they had enough and their luck was running out or whether to pursue the main objective. "But the Gods... They sure do have one hell of a sense of humor..." Joaquin's hands were shaking. If they were able to make it through the last wave, they would have a clear shot on Hell's primary base here on Andalusia. This was their chance at protecting their home and giving those who would soon follow their movements on the ground a fighting chance. "... If they truly believed their words when they said we would survive this in the first place." Refusing to lie to his best friend, he voiced the truth. Their commanders most likely had sent them there to die.

"... Just one more wave of demons to go, Joaquin. Whatever happens next, I want you to head back to your wife. Promise me that." Silent, Joaquin gave his words some thought. At first, he wanted to yell at Cielo for what he was insinuating, but instead of some sort of anger or pride escaping his lips, his heart spoke words his mind would never accept. "I... promise..." However, that did bring to question what would happen next. What would he say next? What would happen if Estrella asked about him if he came back home without him? Speaking from heart to heart, Joaquin returned to his native tongue."...¿Y qué hay de tu prometida?" Concerned about her, he asked what to say. "¿Qué debo decirle a Estrella?"

"Dile que la amo con todo mi corazon, y que lo siento."
Tell her I love her with all my heart, and that I'm sorry.

Finally making up his mind, Cielo engaged his thrusters to the maximum, speeding faster than his best friend to take the attention off of him. "Cielo!" Accelerating himself up to catch up to his friend, Joaquin realized that his efforts were breaking a hole through the wave of enemies ahead, each demon within proximity being surprised at how suicidal he was for charging at them with such pristine equipment. Though as soon as he ripped through, a shadow overtook his glass as a spear impaled the very plane he commanded forward, cracking the glass that separated him from the outside. Immediately, weapons were drawn from both sides of the glass only to hear a demon's voice come from the other side.

Gunshots. As Diablo and Cielo fired at each other, Joaquin attempted to intercept the demon only to have others get in the way of their duel. However, while the demons were carried away with intercepting the fighter that had Cielo's renowned insignia on top of it, they left Joaquin open to fire. Believing that only one plane had the dangerous payload was their miscalculation and thanks to it, he was in the prime position to attack. Though struck with grief at the potential fate of his friend, his hands were paralyzed only until he heard the sound of Cielo's voice come through the feed mixed with the sounds of static and gunfire. "You heard me already, Joaquin! Fire and head home! I'll see you again soon!"

Taking faith in his judgement, the pilot swapped his primed armament with that of the divine nuke. "See you soon, Cielo." Firing it at the remnants of the primary pillar, as he sent the largest payload any human had ever seen towards Hell's citadel, he turned around to get himself out of the line of combat. Unfortunately however, Cielo's plane didn't turn while the human and the demon traded rounds against each other, subjecting each other to wounds without mercy believing each other to be monsters. With nothing to pierce Able's shielding however, his body was only able to take so much before succumbing to his wounds, passing out from the pain.

Despite his cohort seeking to eliminate their targets, Able had been taught by his mentor to keep them alive for questioning. It was intel that won wars, not just the mere elimination of the enemy. Though, as he ripped Cielo out of his ship, he felt a sudden force push both him and the human's ship away from the central structure, causing the both of them to fall and tumble into the mouth of a cave as hurricane force winds ripped through the skies above.
