Eclair/Friend In The Shadows

(It taste better than the chocolate! Hit him next time! :p)

Christian adjusted himself to allow her more comfort as she moved into his lap. His arm lightly came to rest on her back as the movie played on. Despite the special effects, he found himself more intrigued by Alice. 'She a lot like a cat in some ways,' he thought, looking down at her as she slept.

He gently began to rub her back, making sure not to move his arm too much so as to awaken her. 'I'll let her sleep and wake her at the credits.' He decided as he removed the stick from her mouth.

Alice's tail was swaying in the air as he rubbed her, she was dreaming of being at home with him, playing games and laughing. She smiled in her sleep as her tail gently wrapped around his arm her soft fur brushing lightly against him as her ears twitched every so often. She had thoughts about what she wanted and they all pointed to him, she had no idea how close they were at that point or how her sleeping on him was being reacted to. She moved a little as she slept the movie rolling on as she slumbered. Her breathes were soft and slow, she was comfortable and she knew she would be as long as he was there with her.

She woke up to a tap on her shoulder, sitting up slowly and rubbing her eyes as the lights turned on blinding her for a second as she saw the movie was over, she blushed a little and looked over at him "I..I'm sorry i fell asleep" she said a small yawn escaping her as she stretched looking back and seeing her tail curled around his arm blushing deeper "It likes you" she said giggling as she uncurled it and stood up stretching her legs.

"It's okay. I guess I'll let you pick the movie next time." Christian replied as she stood. 'Did I just make plans for a second date?' He thought as she rose out of her seat. Seeing her tail wrapped around his arm was an interesting sight. "You have a lot of control over it. I didn't know nekos' could do that." He replied as he stood.

"So, I guess I should take you home, huh?" He said as he gathered their garbage, the disappointment in his voice evident. He really didn't want to leave; he was enjoying being with her even as she slept.

Alice looked at him and smiled as she looked down at her tail "It's a part of my spine, just a very thin bone" she said smiling as she looked at him "I guess you can say i just didn't get the end of my tailbone removed like everyone else" she said using a metaphor as most cats and dogs these days had their tail cut for some reason. She blushed as he mentioned going out again and she smiled "Its a date" she said putting her arms around his and smiling as they left.

She was a little sad that she would be alone on Sunday but she was happy that she had another date she smiled and looked up at him "I guess now we can say were boyfriend and girlfriend right?" she asked wondering as they were going on another date soon and that meant they were dating.

Christian felt a tingle run down his back as Alice mentioned the idea of them being a couple. "Well...I-I...if you want..." He stuttered before taking a deep breath to calm himself. "I guess we are." He said simply, looking down into her eyes. "I can't promise anything, but I'll try to get enough time off for a longer day out." He added, letting his hand gently take hold of hers.

"So what are your plans now? Going to go draw? You should keep up with it; you're really good." He swallowed a lump in his throat before continuing. "Alice, would you mind if I....kiss you?" He asked softly.

Alice's face glowed as she heard his question, she looked down for a second and breathed 'he wants to...kiss me?' she though as she knew her blush was easily visible, looking back at him she smiled and lent up to him, taking a breath she slowly pushed her lips against his and felt everything just disappear and leave her and him alone in the world at that moment.

It was a few seconds before she broke the kiss, looking at him she smiled, "I'm not bad am i?" she asked a little nervous if she had done it right, truth was she had never kissed a boy before but her body just guided her to do it without thinking.

Christian felt her soft lips press against his, the sweet taste filling him with joy. He found himself lost in Alices' lips for those few seconds, his mind stopped working as the stood there for everyone to see. As she broke the connection, he blushed deeply at the suddenness of their evolving relationship.

"It was good, but I think I need something to compare it too." He said as he leaned in and locked his lips around Alices', wanting to enjoy that moment once more before he had to leave.

Alice blushed, her tail curled up into a waving s shape, her ears stood up high as she felt his lips push against her, further away in their classroom, the cracks in her desk disappeared, her happiness was making everything in the world better some how. She put her hands on his cheeks holding him there, the kiss made her body feel warm inside, she was happy truly happy in his arms, their lips pressed together until finally they broke away her eyes stared into his, there wasn;t a word, everything had already been said in their display of affection.

Alice kissed his cheek, the nervousness of everything gone as she saw her train come to a stop at the station, she smiled and walked to it waving as she was whisked away to her station. She walked home silently, her mind racing at the thought of being in love with him, her heart beat faster she was in love, out of everyone he could have met, he met her and she was in love with him.

Christian stood on the platform for a long time, watching the train leave, carrying Alice away from him. His thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of his phone. Pulling it out, the text message informed him that he was needed in early. Letting out a sigh, he proceeded to work, a small smile on his face.

"Maybe I should take her out shopping next time. Girls like to go shopping right? But she's not just a girl. I wonder what kinds of jewelry she wears? Earrings are out. And a ring would be too formal..." He thought aloud as he walked down the road.

(OOC: to the next day then?)

((i'm guessing so work and mulling around the house is a little dull :3))

Alice walked out of the house, Sunday was a bright sunny day but she didn't worry about that to much, she had sent a text to Christian saying she was going to a meet someone who wanted a drawing at a cafe, looking at her feet as she walked to the main street of the town she lived in and stepping into the cafe she smiled as she sat and had her meeting with the man. He wanted her to draw him something, she didn't expect what he said an abruptly told him no, he yelled at her something about artists shouldn't have restrictions. She didn't yell back just letting him get bored and she got a little sad, he wanted a dirty picture but she would never stoop to such levels of art.

Looking around the cafe as people stared and whispered about her , she started to feel bad again a soft unnoticeable shake went through the cafe as her mood began to change.

Christians' day was busy as usual. Finding time to grab a bite to eat was hard. Sitting down, he looked over the case files that were passed to him. Taking time to check his messages, his face lit up as he read Alices' text. She was doing a job. 'Good for her.' He thought as the rush in the hospital began to pick up again. 'Another day, another body.' He thought again, his mind becoming a little cynical. 'I wonder how Alice is doing?"

Alice looked down, she felt bad enough she had been yelled at in such a place, but she felt as if she had let christian down, were he views wrong, should she have given in to the man and drawn the perverted picture for him. She looked down as she heard the whispers about her, listening as people were trying to figure out why she had been yelled at like that. Her mood dropped further, the shakes getting worse as the waitress came and told her she had to leave. She felt a tear roll down her cheek, it wasn't her fault maybe she was wrong like she always was.

Alice stood up, she kept thinking about how she was the one in fault like everyone else seemed to think, she thought about christian and wondered if she would disappoint him because she didn't accept the job. Feeling her depressive state start to take over her, a small pulse emanated from her, invisible but its effects were noticeable the building began to shake violently, everyone left but before she could react and run the building collapsed around her, the support beams cracking under the pressure that came from her. It was a long period before the rescue team found her, unconscious and barely alive, they rushed her to hospital her life slowly starting to fade away.

Christian had just finished eating when word came in about another case that required his attention. Slowly standing, he went to get changed. Upon entering a private room, he saw two other people dressed in robes, one wearing black and the other gray, with detailed masks to cover their faces.

"Mark. Tom." Christian said without any other words needing to be spoken. "What have I got now?" He asked as he went to a locker. "Accident at a cafe." The one in gray said simply. "Only one victim. I'm to go check out what happened. Marks' going to say behind encase anyone else is found." Christian knew Mark was grinning behind his mask.

"No one died?" Christian asked as he slip a long white robe over his body. "Not yet. But the day is young." Mark replied, his Grim Reaper mask moving lightly as he spoke. "So you up for this? It's been a long day for you." He added, passing Christian a solid white full porcelain mask. "As ready as ever." He replied as his mask fell over his face.

The three of them silently entered Alices' private room. When things were very bad they were called in, and Alices' condition was very bad. Christian stopped dead in his tracks as he saw her laying on the metal table, fighting for her life. "What's up man?" Tom asked, once he noticed Christian was hanging back. "I...I know her." He replied, taking light steps to her side.

"Know her? What the two of you had a hot date?" Mark asked, the humor in his voice evident. "Kind of." Christian replied as he reach for Alices' hand. "OOOOO." Both Tom and Mark said at the same time. "Better hurry up then man. Less you want me to be talking to her instead." Mark added, edging him on. Christian gently took her hand and patted her forehead. He said nothing, just stood there, their hands held together as he let his energy start to flow. Slowly at first, then picking up rapid speed, Alices' body started to stitch itself back together. Every broken bone was mended, her heart beat returned to a steady rhythm, cuts closed on before their eyes. When done, Christian continued standing by her side, waiting for her to wake.

Alice's mind was going insane as her body started to collapse, the thoughts of what happened and how she was still alive collected in her head as she was rushed into the hospital. she couldn't move anything or open her eyes but see was there somewhere, something was keeping her alive, something that wasn't a normal thing to be in someone. She was finding herself thinking of Christian wanting to kiss him, wanting to feel his hugs that protected her. She wasn't going to leave him like this so suddenly. She felt the thoughts slow down and fade away her mind went blank as she was put on the metal table.

She felt a warmth pass over her, as her mind awoke once more, she could open her eyes her, her subconscious was keeping her mind active to keep her from slipping away, When she opened her eyes she looked down and saw she was unclothed, somehow she didn't get bothered and stood up the pure white room she was in, She saw in the center, herself floating above the ground, she looked at herself and was a little puzzled as she poked the floating her and felt it in her own body. She looked around the white room and noticed in the corner a crack a rather large one. Looking at it and trailing it seeing it trace back to underneath the floating her she blinked wondering what was going on.

Alice felt the image disappear wondering just what was happening as she felt another warmer light engulf her, her eyes shot open and she sat up breathing a large breath and looking around her eyes blurring, she looked down and saw her torn bloodstained clothes on the floor and hospital gown covering her as her vision came back, looking over to the three men she jumped and felt her body tender and sore. Looking at them she sat on the side of the table "W..What happened?" she asked puzzled by why she was there.

Her question made her remember, the cafe, the yelling, she was about to leave and then it just collapsed on top of her, she was confused and scared as she gripped the metal table and cried "H..How am i alive...?" she questioned looking at them and demanding an answer no one could survive a building collapsing on them.

"Ask your boy toy here." The black clothed man replied. "He's your savior." Christian slowly pulled up his mask, his embarrassment showing in his face. "I...I didn't...expect to see you so soon." He managed to spit out. "So she your hot date huh? Didn't know you had a thing for the furrys." Tom cut in, jabbing Christian lightly in the side.

"You've been in town, what, a week? And already got yourself a little hunny. What a player." Mark added, giving him a shot on the shoulder. Christians' face lit up scarlet at their comments. "I-I'm not like that." He replied moving closer to Alice. "Sorry about those two. They both get a kick out of it when I punch holes in the laws of physics. I-I trust everything is working?" He asked coming to a stop at her side.

Alice looked down, she wondered if she should tell him about what she saw, she might get some answers from him, or at least one of the others that were joking around. She blushed a little and smiled "I'm a little sore but..." she swallowed her pride wondering if she could get an answer from them and sat up a little straighter looking at all three "I saw something when i was unconscious" she started the two stopped joking and started to listen.

It took her a moment to finish and when she did they didn't say anything, she saw a nurse come in and said that Alice's room were ready, she hugged Christian and smiled before leaving catching the eyes of the other to, she could swear they knew something but maybe it was just their work faces. She shrugged it off and let herself get taken to her private room in the ICU her body had been crushed she was going to be under constant supervision till her nerves started working completely.

Christian had placed his mask back on his face as the nurse entered the room. He listened to her story, unsure what it meant. As Alice was taken away, he turned towards the other two. "So what do you think?" He asked, sitting down on the table. "About what?" Mark replied, slowly taking of his mask and robe. "About what Alice said. Does it mean anything to you?" Christian replied.

"People who are involved in near death experiences see a lot of things. It might mean nothing." Tom replied, following Marks' lead in removing his clothing. "Or it could be real important." Christian added. "Could be. I'll have Jacky look into it." Both Mark and Christian groaned. "Jacky's a kook! A conspiracy nut! What help can she be?!" The both asked. Tom waved his hand at their question. "Do you have a better idea?" He asked back.

Neither answered so Tom continued on. "I'm going to the scene. Mark, you come with me. Chris, you stay with Alice. I think she might want you to explain a few things." Mark stood up and went to Toms' side. "Yeah, lets leave the love birds alone." The two left laughing before Christian could respond. Nodding once, he stripped off his robe and mask before walking up to Alices' room.

Knocking lightly on the door before entering, he asked "Can I come in? You must have a few questions you want answered."

Alice looked up from the bed, the small cup of orange juice in her hands shaking as she tried to come up with a reason she saw what she did. Looking down she heard a knock and smiled "Come in please" she said smiling as she looked at Christian and smiled brighter "I do have a few" she said her tone was happier now as she saw him approach her.

She looked at him and smiled "I was crushed under the cafe right, how could i survive something like that?" she asked him puzzling the thought as she sipped at the sweet orange juice her reworked taste buds a little unused to the sweet juice. She was happy, she wanted to know what had happened but she wasn't worried she was just happy Christian was by her side.

The cafe, well what used to be the cafe was quiet, a few people standing around as the investigators walked the rubble wondering what the hell happened, the support beams were snapped in two but they were in fine condition. The roof was strong there was no reason the building could have fallen, no bombs, nothing made sense but the scene was there in front of them. One of the investigators talked with Tom and Mark, explaining the last moments "We got a testimony from a witness saying a girl came in a neko, a man yelled at her and then he left, the waitress asked her to leave and then the building just collapse, the neko was the only person left inside at the time of the collapse". The investigator scratched his head as they continued trying to piece together the scene nothing about it was normal.

Christian let out a long sigh. Looking around to make sure no one was about, he started explaining. "You almost didn't. A normal doctor wouldn't have been able to help. Another few minutes and I wouldn't have been able to help." He pulled up a chair and took a seat next to her.

"Remember I said that I help doctors when they need it? There's a technical term for what I am, but mostly I'm referred to as a 'White Hat'; I'm a healer. Which is why I'm always busy. People just aren't careful." He said with a light sigh. "The other two with me when you woke up, Tom and Mark, have different abilities. Mark's know as a 'Necro-phone': the dead talk to him all the time. Tom's a tourist: he can see what happened at a scene as if he was there, like a ghost."

"I hope you don't think I'm weird. It's not something I like to talk about." He added, rubbing his hands together as he spoke.

Alice looked at him and hugged him when she finished "You saved my life" she said softly in his ear as she held him close to her "I'm in debt to you forever" she said smiling as she sat up, and gave him her brightest smile as she wondered whether they had figured out what had happened at the cafe she was still a little curious about her dream and everything that had happened today "I feel tired, can i rest?" she asked, when he nodded she smiled and closed her eyes drifting off.

She woke up later, it was night and she heard talking outside her room, she recognized the voices of tom and mark and she thought she heard Christian but she wasn't to sure they were hushed so she could only pick up the voice but the words were to quiet, she sighed and laid back looking over and seeing a bottle of juice, she smiled and drank it slowly wondering what they were talking about.

"How is she?" Tom asked softly as the three of them stood out side Alices' room. "Resting. She's had a hard day. Did you find anything?" Christian asked. Tom shook his head. "As near as anyone can tell, the place just came down on top of her. Freak accident. My best guess is someone's trying to hurt her. No one would do that to themselves."

Christian nodded at the response. "Our home room teacher seems to have it in for her, but I don't think he's got any 'gift'. What's the next step?" Tom and Mark looked at each other for a moment. "You get to be her shadow. This was a big attack. She might not get a second chance if you're not around. Guess you two get to learn to be like a real couple." Mark said, his smile painted across his face.

Christians' eyes went wide. "Are you saying that-" Tom cut him off "you two are going to be living together. Until this is figured out, you stay by her side." Christian looked back at Alices' room. "How do I explain that someone is trying to kill her? I don't even know who will be sleeping where." Christian let out another sigh. "I better start talking." He added, walking back into Alices' room.

Alice looked up her juice half empty, she was thirsty but mainly so she could do something in the quiet room, she was thinking of that dream again, how the girl was sleeping, just floating in the air and the crack coming off of her. She looked down trying to figure it out, the girl was strange she felt real like she was part of her but she didn't feel normal in a way. Alice sighed not being able think of anything else.

She felt strange, like she was different, like something inside her had just started doing something from what had happened, She shook the feeling away and continued sipping at her drink looking out the window seeing the moon and smiling "So pretty" she said softly staring at it as she wondered what she was going to do after she left the hospital she was sure going to be a topic of discussion if her story got out.

Seeing Christian her ears perked up and she smiled "How's the search going?" she asked wondering if they had found anything out about what had happened, She watched him and smiled as she gave him a hug and closed her eyes "I'm fine you don't have to stay if your shifts over you know" she said not knowing how serious her case was, not every day does a building target a single person to fall on.

Christian held her tight, unsure how to answer her question. So he started with her other comment. "My shift ended a while ago. I'm not going anywhere any time soon." He said softly, lightly kissing her forehead. His hand bushed a stray hair away from her face before he continued.

"No one can figure out what happened. We've got people who can look into these sort of things, but it'll take some time." He paused for a moment in order to gather his strength to continue. "It looks like some one tried to...kill you. And they weren't very subtle about their attack. So, till we find out who, we get to be roommates."

Alice looked at him and smiled, it was nice to know he was there even if he could have gone home a long time ago, she turned away stared at the moon again something about it made her smile even more. She blushed as he kissed her forehead and giggled a bit when he brushed the hair from her eyes, she never knew he was this caring and sweet.

Looking at him, her eyes wide as he continued she thought about it and got worried "K..Kill me, someone wants to kill me!!" she said a little to worried as she thought about who it could be and she felt a frown set across her face as her mind came across a single person "Hitori..." she said as he finished, She blushed deeply and looked at him "R..Roommates...where going to live together?" she questioned the thought was a little soon didn't couples wait a few years till they moved in together.

Christian nodded a few times before replying. "It might be Hitori. He seems to have something against you. It could also be the guy you meet with at the cafe. Or someone we don't even know about. I didn't want to worry you, but I can't keep something like this from you either. What happened wasn't a freak accident." He said as he moved to her side.

"I know it's sudden, but there is no other way to make sure you don't get hurt like this again. The police will look into it for a little while, but there's no evidence to go on. That leaves us. Mark and Tom plan to help too, but it's a sure bet that who ever is responsible will try again. So I need to stay by your side. I really don't think I could handle losing you." He said, his face starting to blush as he realized the last part had been out loud.
