Lucky Bastard OOC

I could see a merchant going back from New to Old World, or a privateer summoned back by the crown. Hard to see a pirate doing it though. No prey on the open sea, and headed to much better protected waters by the home navy. And that (a merchant) works fine for Tara and possibly Isabel. Not sure about the others though. They seem to be pirates (as written anyhow).

I don't think a British privateer works, since Lucky wouldn't join with one, and Tara likely wouldn't either. A French or Dutch one might, but a little weird to find them in Ireland. Maybe blown off course? That could work. But that does mean the ship is flying under French or Dutch flag - at least until it gets mutinied :D

Hmm mutiny or I can see if about bringing black beard in again since in the last thread the first ship he joins after he becomes second mate gets attacked and only Lucky and other pc are lucky enough to find a way to survive. Actually haven't thought about what nation it would fly though yet though. Open to ideas

Maybe I just need to be less stickler for historical detail :D

But since we're just brainstorming here. There's 4 nations that play in the caribbean, 5 if we extend out to Europe or Atlantic-side South America.

Spain, England, France and Netherlands. Plus Portugal if we include Brazil and the Azores (and Iberia, obviously). Portugal has no Caribbean or North American assets, though. Oh, and after 1780, the United States, of course.

And the other option is no flag but the pirate flag. That'd be very rough in Europe, but is a good reason to cross the ocean to the New World, since pirate cities are much more resilient there (since national naval power is much weaker).

Historical Blackbeard was a pirate along the coast of what is now America's eastern seaboard, originally out of the Bahamas. Not that we need to honor history, necessarily, but if you want to, that's where he's likely to be found.

I will say a Dutch ship seems to be the most likely to dock in Ireland, since they either have to take the English Channel or the North Sea to go south or west. And if they go around the North Sea, Ireland (at least pre-British attacking the port) is an obvious non-British port of call. France and Spain (and even more so, Portugal and the USA) have to go out of their way to hit Ireland.

My character might join a bit later, maybe in some Jack Sparrow type of manner, like ... I dunno ... rowing up to the recently mutinied ship in a small boat and just assuming she is already part of the crew, babbling about mermaids and what not. I'll keep track of the story to find my cue.

This sounds compelling. Sugar and tobacco out of Oranjestad, stopping over in Ireland before heading back to the Dutch Republic.

A Dutch privateer looking to retire, carrying one last load back home. Frickin English show up while they're in an Irish port, and the crew has to lay low. Isabel's got no deep attachment to this crew, and is looking to get out before her savings run out.

If need I can continue to him getting on the boat. Just left it out if there any he may know for his village.

Though he carries no ill will for any villagers of any nation in less they praise the crowns actions or sees pirates using tier power to hurt the common man instead of fighting oppression. His mission will kind of be a suicidal mission to be a thorn on the side of the empire but knowing he can't do much to change things. His experience and name will grow as we go along though

Aahhh! The pressure's on o_o! Gotta respond...okay okay. I'll get to it the moment I can type XD.

Reply's up. Isabel's pursued by the English, and intends to get off that ship~

Oh crud lol, just read the Dutch ship captain's bio. Looks like Isabel drew the attention of the English and is trying to run away with the ship's most valuable medical supplies XD.

...I may also have acidentally named the ship.

Vriendschap means "Friendship" (hehehe get it? :ROFLMAO:)

And

Stormvogel means "Stormbird".

If they suck, please lemme know so that I can change them!

Your naming skills seem better than mine.lol names are one thing I struggle with. When the time comes he can be mutined, retire or have a battle where only we survive

Maybe we can assume Officer Parker lost a brother or something to a Dutch privateer and is exceeding his authority on people unlikely to call him out on it?

I assume the Captain means Isabel and not Tara, since Tara is in the hold with the captive pirates.
