It Happened at Westbrook

Delta Lambda Pi Fratority, Westbrook College; Edith @Frozen Princess (Sapphire/Erin)

"This isn't just about what you have a specific talent for, or what is or was Your Thing," Edith began explaining to Sapphire.
"It is in fact completely irrelevant. Detective Holmes here can actually remember everything she has ever heard, seen and possible also everything else she has experienced with any of her other senses."
Edith paused and looked from Sapphire to Erin.
"Like every detail of what underwear she wore on her 18th birthday, the words to every song she danced to on prom night. It's like her brain is an almost limitless hard drive, or maybe more like a cloud drive that she can search through in seconds."
Edith was of course no less impressed by the quick drawing of the periodic table that she double checked on her phone and found to be correct in every detail.

Edith shook her head No. She had not heard anyone laughing, at least not that stood out from the drone of students coming and going in the corridor outside. At the same time she was thinking to herself that it was not entirely fair that some of the people in Westbrook had been affected with more than one superiour ability while others had not been affected at all. Not that she actually wished she too had been affected though it would have been cool to have one, invisibility perhaps or maybe something in the telepathy or telekinesis department.
"Weird indeed," she agreed even though she was unsure that Detective Holmes was aware that she had spoken the words in Spanish.

Dean's Office, Westbrook College @Frozen Princess (Ginger) @Inkybus (mentioning Marko)

"Not a costume I'm afraid," Su-Ji confirmed with a hint of a smile on her otherwise serious face.
It was not a stretch for The Dean to assume it might be since she was known to sometimes dress up as if everyday was Halloween or some kind of Cosplay event. She had on more than one occasion shown up to school wearing cat ears or elaborate make up to make her face look feline, or sometime like a skull, or an elf or fairy, ears included. This somewhat unconventional approach to clothes and general appearance went far back with Su-Ji. Even in primary school she had stood out with some rather extravagant style choices but it was in her early teens, when she began to drift towards a more Gothic style, that it became something of a regular thing. She had, for instance, shown up to her first day at Westbrook High wearing a straight black silk dress reaching down to her ankles, that she had made from a pair of curtains, with her long black hair in braids and her face painted like a smiling skull. Almost the entire school had at some point that day called her a freak, all except for Ginger.
"The second you say?" she asked and tilted her head to the right side as she often did when her curiousity was piqued.

She had of course seen a few of the people that had been affected by the meteor already but the only one she could think of that had had their physique altered was Alex, whom she knew because the kid had had a rather passionate crush on her all through high school. Alex however was still in high school which sort of meant that there was no way they would be on Dean Wilcox radar.
"Yes. You basically just missed Ms Bennett walking out of here looking a lot like her pet terrier, fur and all."

The dean then turned his attention to Ginger's proposal and Su-Ji soon found herself holding the forms she needed to fill out regarding Nefertiti. She looked them over and began to fill in the relevant information. Nefertiti was 13 years old, a black female Norwegian Forest Cat. She had had all her shots. She then sent her mom a text asking her to forward the journal copies of Nef's last two check ups. When her mom responded by asking why she needed them she explained that as of that morning she was moving into the Fratority: I kind of need some time to myself right now, she explained without explaining why.

"Well. I don't really know what else to add to that," she said and looked up at the dean when Ginger suggested she herself should explain why she wanted to claim her room at the Fratority.
She was after all used to being called a freak but that was when she had a choice which she tried to explain the difference between.
"Before when people made remarks like that I shook them off without much care and maybe came in to school looking relatively normal for a few days, just to show them that I was no more a freak than they were, or, perhaps more often, exaggerated the next few days. I'm sure Ginger remember a few days into our senior year of high school when I came to school with horns glued to my forehead. They were just small protrusions of course but enough to become the focal point of my face. These however," she said and pulled on her whiskers.
"are not clued on. They are part of me, as is the tail and these as well."
She smiled and showed Dean Wilcox her feline fangs.
"And that ... that makes it all different because before when I was being called a freak, or weird, that was a choice I made every morning when I got dressed and put on my make up. What happened today at lunch though ... that would be almost like someone calling a black kid "Nigger" or maybe more like making fun of someone's gender identity, or consciously misgendering them. I also feel like I need a place to sort of hide out while I figure out how to break this to Mom."

Having filled out all the relevant details about Nefertiti she signed it and handed it to Ginger.
"Luckily there are also people like Marko on campus," she added in conclusion.

Ricci and Associates (Amaya) @Inkybus

Rebecca was just about to excuse everyone for the time being, when Ilona Burbank, called. "I've got a Duchess down here having a tizzy fit, wants to speak to our PR specialist."

Rebecca groaned. "Gigi Sinclair handles PR relation nightmares, Ilona, you know that."

"SUPERHERO PR nightmares!" Came the angry voice of a person Amaya would recognize, though far less cordial than she had been with Amaya at the Greek Restaurant the night before. "Some political bureaucratic nobody wants to keep me stateside because some hot shot shit with the air force waving their gun in my face found out I crush metal with my bare hand. All I was trying to do was swat it away by grabbing the barrel. Not my fault it's made with flimsy metal, now is it? My king has asked I come home. I can't very well do that with my plane now impounded!" Olivia Nevrakis was not a happy camper. "It was an accident, how was I to know I could do that?! I never have before!"

Rebecca rubbed her face, shooting Beau a Don't say it look. "Give me fifteen. I'm wrapping up the other meeting right now."

As soon as she released the button, Reggie said it. "Looks like a meta is going to trial. Should be easy for you, Rebecca. She's got diplomatic immunity. Also sounds like an actual accident."

Rebecca sighed and looked at Amaya. "Unless you want to stick around to help talk her down, I'll call you as soon as someone...." She sighed and answered. "Rebecca Knight."

She paused and glanced at everyone. The conversation, which seemed to be one sided, the other side doing all the talking, lasted just over seven minutes. "Hang on a moment, please." Hitting mute, she looked at Amaya. "When it rains it pours. It's the State. They want a meeting with you, at the Capitol, Friday nine am sharp. I don't just mean the Capitol. I mean the actual State Capitol building." A deep breath. "They like the offer, and want you and at least one of your lawyers for formalities. Looks like you're getting what you want. They're on board with you staying here in Westbrook. Even said something about Community Hospital being genius. Which of us would you like there?"

Westbrook College (Edith) @MsBloom (Marko) @Inkybus

As things wrapped up with the Dean, Ginger signing under Su-Ji's name, the Dean arose and shook hands with both. He also gave a paper to Su-Ji. "Here's my email address at the college. Forward those copies to me from your email as soon as you get settled in your room. I can put them with the paperwork on..." He looked at the mascot application. "Nefertiti. And she should have her tags declaring her the mascot of Delta Lambda Pi in about seven working days. Make sure she wears her new.... Ahem.... Student tags at all times, in case she gets out. The hard part is over; the waiting begins. You two are dismissed."

The two would be on their way to the Fratority House to help get Su-Ji settled, and to run across Erin, Sapphire and Edith, who were now waiting on everyone else.

Westbrook High (Loni, others?) @MsBloom

In between sixth and seventh bells, Windy stopped at the vending snack machine, buying the last four PayDay candy bars, and last two Snickers, unwrapping them all and practically swallowing the six peanut packed candy bars whole. At least in a few bites, each, maybe. She drank quite a bit of water after and whined to no one and everyone around her. "What is going on with me?! Why do I need so much protein and other nutrients now?! I'm constantly hungry!" It would be just her luck Loni would hear her complaint.

Amaya turned, waiting to hear the verdict from her legal team, before a phone call interrupted them. She listened a bit, but it became clear pretty fast that it was not something that concerned her. But she smiled a little when she heard that it was another meta that had come to the office in order to rectify a slight, whatever that slight might have been.

Then, the second rang and Amaya silently listened to the one-sided conversation: extrapolating that it was about her proposal pretty quickly, she settled in to wait, eyes looking out of the window, at the people going about their day on the street once again. Then, she was asked her opinion on how to proceed.

"In this instance, I don't exactly know: I have only known you for a day. Can't form an opinion that fast, I think: I would prefer if I could be with one of you ladies, so I can stay in a hotel room with you instead of having to go with my own room in an unfamiliar place. Just in case someone decides to try and make me disappear before I can settle down strong enough roots in Westbrook."

Implied was, of course, the unforeseen threat of abduction by a party that had somehow found out about her abilities: idly, Amaya wondered if this was just caution or something akin to paranoia.

Her face was set in a neutral, almost bored, expression: the young healer waited for her legal team to have a little huddle and decide on who was going to make the trip over.

She did not expect them clamoring to get closer to her and maybe try to become friends, but it was a possibility that had been on her mind a few times. Once people knew she could heal others in a dozen heartbeats, she imagined there'd be a lot of opportunist trying to woo her, so she would rid them of the symptoms of old age or to appeal to her humanity to save someone afflicted with cancer.

Amaya's heart grew colder.

Delta Lambda Pi Fratority, Westbrook College; Su-Ji @Frozen Princess (Sapphire/Erin/Ginger)

One good thing about Westbrook being such a small college was the Fratority. Not only was it, as the name suggests, a mixed house but also big enough that each student enrolled at the college was guaranteed a room, whether they actually used it or not. This was probably one reason that even local students such as Ginger chose to live there rather than stay with their parents the way Su-Ji had up to that moment. It was a relatively modern building, not like those 19th century brick behemoths you saw at the larger, more prestigious, colleges such as Princeton, Yale or Harvard. Westbrook College as an institution was after all no more than half a century old.

There was a large common room, that also served as a dining area for many of the residents, with a small kitchen attached to it. While the kitchen was fairly well equipped and could easily be used to cook a more than half decent meal for a semi-large number of people the most obvious features were the wall of microwave ovens, toasters and electric kettles. Also quite notable was the relatively advanced coffee machine which fuelled many late night study sessions. There was even a reception desk, that was staffed by a rotation of students between 8 am to 8 pm, where visitors had to sign in and where the residents had their mail delivered.

As Su-Ji and Ginger passed the reception the tall blonde, rather lanky, guy currently on duty first gave the two a look and then called for Su-Ji's attention.
"Not sure what it's all about but I was sort of expecting you to show up today," he said and tried his best not to stare at her rather unique new features.
"There is quite a gathering up in your room waiting for you. I think one cop and two from the press."
He glanced over her and shrugged.
"Something to do with the meteorite perhaps," he added and smiled nervously as he realised that in doing so he had just acknowledged her transformation.
"Probably the same ones we ran into yesterday," Su-Ji said to Ginger and gave the guy a nod.
"Thanks. I'm moving into my room today by the way. Would you mind adding me to the mailing list and give me the keys?"
The guy nodded and handed Su-Ji a set of keys. One for the door to the Fratority since it was always locked between 8 pm and 8 am, one to her room and a third to the laundry room.

"We'll have to swing by my place and pick up my stuff later today, or maybe tomorrow when Mom's at work. And we'll have to get Nef too of course. I wonder what she'll think of her new hunting grounds. It's certainly no rooftop garden that's for sure."
There was however a patio of sorts on the roof where the residents could gather for outdoor parties. There was even a decent barbecue for such occasions and somehow Su-Ji suspected that Nef would spent a lot of time up there until she got used to being a ground cat again.

The second floor held mot of the student rooms and Su-Ji's was at the far end of the hall, next door to Ginger as it happened.
"So we meet again," Su-Ji said as she entered the room to find Detective Holmes, Edith and Sapphire inside.
Someone must have used the master key to let them in.
"I assume that this is about yesterday?" she added and took stock of the room.
She had after all not been in there since it was assigned to her when she enrolled at Westbrook College. There was a singles bed against the wall to the right of the window, a small desk with a very uncomfortably-looking desk chair, a closet and a chest of drawers. Other than that the room was bare. It was obvious to anyone that it had not been in use for some time though nothing a bit of artwork couldn't fix.

Westbrook High: Loni @Frozen Princess

After lunch Loni had been wandering around in a bliss of sorts. Windy had finally admitted her attraction to girls and agreed to go on an actual date. It had been years now of teasing across the fence every morning, every evening, of accidental flashes while getting changed, of forgetting to close the blinds during a later afternoon session of pillow humping, Loni's favourite masturbation method with the shower a close second, though it was of course not as easy to accidentally show Windy how she used that particular method. In her head she was already planning for the evening, what to wear, how to tease Windy while getting ready for the date, but also going over in her mind what the date might lead to. Their first kiss for sure, at least the first one that wasn't just for practising how to kiss boys, as Windy had made clear the first time their lips touched. Loni had agreed but that was also the moment she had fallen in love with Windy, or rather realised that she was attracted to her next door neighbour, and close friend, of many years. Hopefully it would not end with just kissing though. There was so much more Loni wanted to try with Windy.

"Maybe it has to do with that speed thing?" she said as she came up behind the object of her desires.
"I mean, y'know. I'm pretty sure you burn through calories like fire burns through cotton when you do that. Think about it. It would make perfect sense that your metabolism has increased because of it."
She smiled as Windy turned around.
"Hi by the way. I'm so excited for tonight. I already know what I'm going to wear."

Ricci and Associates, about noon (Amaya) @Inkybus

Rebecca raised an eyebrow. A smirk playing at the corners of her mouth. "Amaya, that's brilliant! It doesn't matter that you want only me or Lucy, it's the fact you want to get to know us, and not be alone in a strange city. Besides, the state capitol is twice as big as us, population wise, and we aren't exactly that small ourselves." She then looked at the others. "Beau, handle any phone calls from other prospective parties for Amaya's contract. Lucy, double check he doesn't arrange appointments too close to each other. We'll need breathing room."

"That was only twice, and over six months apart!" Beau complained.

Reggie smirked. "That means you're due for your third." He teased. "I see why she said that."

Rebecca shrugged. "Be that as it may, it'll be a little over an hour, so if we want a few days to get to know each other, we'll need to hit the road this afternoon. Amaya, can you have a suitcase packed for four days, and back here by three this afternoon?" She looked at the time and grimaced. "Make that six. I need to save myself some time to pack also. Don't worry about the cost. I know a few days, three or four days, can be put in the expense budget without passing it on to you. I'm head of the team, so that makes me the most likely to have to go there anyway. Besides, I wouldn't mind getting to know you better, myself."

After getting her own suitcase, Rebecca arrived back at the law office to pick up Amaya in a powder blue Hyundai.

Amaya smiled a little, when Rebecca indicated that she would like to get closer too, though it was only briefly: the young woman wanted to be careful and school her emotions better, to avoid her thoughts showing on her face too much.

The banter between her legal team took her mind off things for a little bit, until Rebecca turned to her to plan the first step of the journey: packing what was needed for the trip. "It won't be an issue: the most complicated thing will probably be to speak to my neighbour to keep Lim for a bit, but I'll manage." The former nurse thought the woman living in the next-door house was missing her dogs and would accept Lim, to keep him safe for a week and a half, possibly.

Having said that, Amaya took leave from the group, wishing everyone well; she grabbed her bug-out dark grey duffle bag and put it where she could easily reach it, before going to her neighbor with Lim. Thankfully, the middle-aged office lady said yes and happily took Lim into her home, to get him used to the place and foster an easygoing bond.

Amaya turned all the electrics and the gas off for her apartment, before taking her duffle bag with clothing that could last her at least a couple of weeks, and made her way back to the office, where she met up with Rebecca. She put her bag where it wouldn't hinder the lawyer's driving and made herself as comfortable as she could too- though she was careful not to touch or otherwise inconvenience Rebecca.

And, of course, she never took off her gloves and kept her exposed skin to a minimum, to get used to her work attire as quickly as possible.

"Do you think the those in charge of seeing what I'm about already know about people with powers? I have a feeling they did not ask for many clarifications, so I'm inferring that they got tipped off by something or other..."

Westbrook High School outside gymnasium 1:25pm (Loni) @MsBloom

Windy gave a halfhearted smile with a shrug. "I guess. It's just I just burnt through my allowance getting six peanut bars. I mean my folks know, it's just..." She sighed. "I better get to gym class, I'm already banned from running, so while everyone else is jogging, I got to speedwalk and whatever this is." She then showed Loni what the physical education instructor had told her to do, hooking her fingers together behind her head and bringing one leg up, knee bent, and bending slightly to touch elbow to knee, and repeating with other leg and elbow. "All he said was it's stretching I'm allowed to do until my suit is ready. It's gotta be called something besides stretching, or calisthenics, or warm ups, come on." She then gave a smile. "Sooo, on a brighter note, see you at six for dinner and movie out?"

Delta Lambda Pi Fratority Westbrook College 1:45pm (Edith, Su-Ji) @MsBloom (Marko) @Inkybus

Ginger nodded, and got her mail from her fratority brother. "Good idea, which reminds me, tell everyone that lives here, I'm having a mandatory house meeting regarding grades and some rule infractions that have been rampant lately. You and Marko haven't got anything to worry about, and neither does Su-Ji, but I can't just single certain people out anymore. The whole house is just going to have to learn who's on the hot seat. Might finally wake half the house up. One on one isn't working. Please pass that along to the others as they come in?"

After getting a nod with a surprised look, Ginger continued up the stairs to the second floor. "Sorry you're getting in your room just as all this nonsense has been happening... Sheesh, I'm actually glad that police officer is here, maybe I can talk her into staying to sit in on the meeting. Why would she have the reporters here, though?" She rubbed her face. "We should have time after we see what the good detective wants. How long could it be? Especially with the reporters here as well? Your mom doesn't get off until what? Five?"

They walked into the room and saw the bed, which already had clean sheets, a desk chair, that Detective Holmes had turned backwards and sat, straddling the back, and the loveseat (two person couch) occupied by Sapphire (and maybe Edith if she didn't mind the closeness). "Hello... Cardio. Cheshire. Let's cut to the chase, shall we? I'm under orders from my captain to wrangle you lot into a team. Captain wants to meet you. As I pointed out yesterday, you've done nothing legally wrong, otherwise I'd be here with backup instead of a couple of reporters. Meet Scoops Davenport, Channel 3, and her camera operator." A glance to Edith. "I've never gotten your last name, Edith. Only have your first from introductions last night and hearing Sapphire mention it." A look to Ginger who stood there, looking gobsmacked. "The reporters will be our PR. Im also affected. I apparently have an eidetic memory. Close your mouth, hon, you're letting all the hot air out."

On the road to the State Capitol. About 6pm (Amaya) @Inkybus

Rebecca glanced over at her passenger, then back to the road. "You noticed that too, eh? I know my side of the conversation didn't leave much to be desired, just a lot of "I see"s and "uh-huh"s, but from what I was told, one would think that someone in the government knew what the meteorite was made of and expected this. The guy I spoke to, or rather he did all the talking, said that he wasn't surprised, and was glad that a medical official had healing abilities."

She turned her signal on as they headed onto the interstate and the capitol. After merging into the highway traffic, she spoke again. "After packing, I made a phone call back up there and actually spoke to some lady, I explained about the meeting already arranged, and asked for one between me and them ASAP. I want more details, but assured them, as they did ask, that you'll make the appointment on Friday. As far as THEY know, I'll be going to Westbrook to pick you up Thursday afternoon. I don't want them knowing you're already up there. Something smells rotten in Denmark, as the saying goes. I have you under an assumed last name, and you're my third cousin, You can use your first name, but not your last. For the next few days, it's Stuart. Amaya Stuart. If you keep your own first name. You're a shirt tail relation to the Knights, and you're meeting me for a holiday. They don't need to know anything else there at the hotel. I have an appointment at 8:30 tomorrow morning. Let's hope I get some satisfying answers." She gave Amaya a reassuring smile.

Westbrook High School outside gymnasium 1:25pm (Loni) @Frozen Princess (Windy)

"Yea whatever that is," Loni agreed with a chuckle at how ridiculous it looked while at the same time not being able to take her eyes off the way Windy's chest moved as she demonstrated the stretching exercise.
"I'm sure they call it something but y'know ... who cares really. I mean other than PE teachers and track coaches, right?"
She then returned Windy's smile but rather than just confirming their date she suggested dinner out but a movie in.
"It's cosier and like y'know, more private."
She accented the hint with a wink of her eye, let out a soft chuckle and left Windy to hurry along to training while she herself hurried off to math class.

Delta Lambda Pi Fratority Westbrook College 1:45pm (Edith, Su-Ji) @Frozen Princess (Erin, Ginger)

"Wilson," Edith, leaned up against the wall beside Sapphire, informed Detective Holmes of her last name.
"Edith Blossom Wilson in full. Apparently Mom couldn't decide which of her grandmothers' floral names, Rose and Daisy, to go with so she ummm ... well let's just say that I'm only telling you because you can easily look it up anyhow. The first one to even hint at my middle name will not be in my good graces. Ok?"

"A team? Like what ... Fantastic Four or something ..." Su-Ji asked and bit down on her bottom lip in a way that showed her upper left fang.
Her tail moved from side to side and then she started to chuckle.
"I suppose in one way it makes sense of course but really ... we're just supposed to group together because the WPD asks us to? And like what's the deal with having two reporters for a pr team? Sure I get it they can angle the news to our favour but are you sure they are willing to bend the truth, whatever that might be, compromise their journalistic ethics?"
She looked over at Sapphire and then shot a smile at Edith.

Edith glanced down at Sapphire. It was certainly a more than valid question, especially in the light of where their investigations was already leading them. Would Detective Holmes allow them to continue down that path, to further investigate the possibility of other similar events having perhaps given rise to other super powered humans. Would she allow them to continue digging into what might lead to some kind of government cover up?
"Yea. What do you say Scoops?" she asked, not without a fair amount of irony in her voice.

On the Road - Amaya "Melia" Sosa @Frozen Princess
"For a moment, I imagined that I was becoming paranoid. It's good to hear that that's not happening!"

Amaya quipped, when Rebecca mentioned that she felt something was off at the capitol. Not that the former nurse could do much further except maybe try to disappear: but if she did that, she would have to ditch her legal team and that was something she wanted to avoid as well.

"Yeah, well, if something is up with our politicians or secret services or whatever, I'll just have to move. I hear that Scandinavia is beautiful and very peaceful, for the time being."

After all, who could really be all that calm or peaceful with Russia very close-by? But that was a thought Amaya kept for herself.

Workshop | Fratority - Marko @Frozen Princess @MsBloom
MLPrn7x.png

Marko tinkered in his workshop, the smooth voice of Željko Joksimović singing in Marko's father-tongue over the sound of violins, piano and soft drums. During the refrain he hummed along, even as he focused most of his attention at the fiddly circuit board that would signal his future bike to change colours.

After finishing that bit, someone got his attention by knocking at the door of his workshop: it was a rented room in a building separate from the fratority proper, but it was still only at most five minutes by foot. So, he wiped off some of the grease from his hands and set out to meet up with Ginger, who needed people present to listen to something important.

He followed the student that had been sent to inform him, in companionable or, maybe, slightly awkward silence.

In the privacy of his own mind, he wondered what Ginger wanted to address: thankfully, the straightforward journey was over quickly and he arrived on site, though there were more people than he would have expected at first.

Westbrook High School Hall 1:25 pm @MsBloom (Loni)

Windy gave a self-conscious giggle. "Considering that I am track... And it doesn't help when the school's so small my track coach and PE instructor is the same person. I gotta get to gym. Pick you up at 6:00pm for dinner? Uh, considering I'm an open air vehicle, I advise against a skirt?" She gave a wink, smile and mimed she'd carry Loni to The Lighthouse. Windy had practiced with the cheer before, so she knew she could catch, hold and carry Loni, and other heavier girls despite her looking like she did.

After school, she got home, did her homework, showered, put on her red velvet tuxedo she had been saving for sophomore prom at the end of the year, and went next door with a bouquet of mixed garden flowers behind her back, and rang the doorbell. It was 6:10pm, the dinner would be 7:00, the earliest time Windy could reserve.

Delta Lambda Pi Fratority 1:45pm @Inkybus (Marko) @MsBloom (Edith, Su-Ji)

Erin raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Middle names are reserved for the mom, dad, and/or older siblings when you do something worthy of the three name call out." She cleared her throat. "Or if you have more... I've gotten the Erin Bridget Rosa Holmes a few times in my life especially as a teenager. I know how you feel about middle names."

Sapphire glanced over to where Edith was at the wall, and shrugged. Being PR also meant running interference against the tabloids. She leaned toward her and whispered, "If it keeps us out of the boss's hair, what little he has left, AND interferes with the tabloid reporters and vloggers? It's better. Tabloids give all of us a bad name Edith, and we, by being PR, can control the narrative to an extent. I'm in."

Erin put a finger to her cheek and tapped it rhythmically. "Considering there's four of us, and I have to play leader to appease my captain? I guess we are. I would also think of us as either the Avengers or Justice League. There's likely more than just four wanting to be heroes, and you know," she wiggled her badge on a chain she wore around her neck during down times she wasn't on a case. "Something with Justice or something like that couldn't hurt us. We would need a name for our team. As far as why my captain wants us all together, I don't know. She didn't say anything on that. Just that I have to be in charge, because I'm affected, I guess, and an actual law officer. She wants to meet everyone at the same time. Maybe she wants us to be accountable to each other? That's something you'd have to ask her... I'm not a mind reader, I just have, as you pointed out, Edith, an ability to remember things on a more computer like scale and just as quick, with a cloud as vast as my memories."

Sapphire got her in, "I doubt anyone wants us to compromise our ethics, Cheshire, journalistic or otherwise. This exploding meteorite over us wasn't the first time, Detective. To understand the possibility of the past repeating itself, and to be good PR for the team, Edith and I should investigate what really happened in 1949, as well as see about the more recent 2013 event. Even see what can be learned from the Tunguska event in 1908."

Erin raised an eyebrow, recognizing the impact of all those dates. "I see nothing wrong with two of those, but you'd be treading some very VERY thin ice investigating 1949 beyond it's narrative. Tread carefully. Your digging too deep would impact ALL of us. Westbrook could become a reservation akin to what happened to the Indians in the 1800s. Know THAT going in."

Scoops gave a genuinely terrified look towards Edith. Sapphire was descended from the American Indians. She knew all too well the government's treatment of her ancestors.

Ginger cleared her throat. "Okay. Good talk. The press is excused, but detective, I'd like your presence for the house meeting. Shall we get downstairs?"

Once downstairs at the dining table that sat 16, not including the head, Ginger asked Detective Holmes to sit with her near the head of the table as she banged her gavel to quiet the members of the house. She looked across to the full table except one seat, and took a breath. "I've asked a member of the WPD to sit in on this, because apparently some of you I've talked to continue to cause problems with not only your sisters and brothers in this house, but the others along our small Greek row. First, unless you are invited, stop bothering the co-eds at Alpha Theta Mu, and Gamma Omega Alpha Theta. Period. Also, to the boys, and you know who you are, if I hear of one more harassment of the Kappa sorority, there WILL be a reckoning. I'm not playing and neither is the Dean. Heads WILL roll. Also, we've been over this before. You have to keep a certain average grade to remain a member in good standing and over half of you are on the edge unless your grades improve. And I mean immediately." She produced a small paper from her purse and unfolded it. "Everyone knows everyone here, so I'm going to only read First names off this paper. If you do NOT hear your name, buckle your ass down if you want to stay!" After a breath, she read : "Marko, Kim (this would be Su-Ji)..." She blinked, glanced at Su-Ji, mouthed that she thought Kim was her last name, and continued, "William, Bridget..." A puzzled expression since she had the last name and glanced over to Erin. "Relation of yours?" A shake of her head before finishing, "Stephanie, Andrea and Ginger." She refolded the paper. "Those of you NOT called, you have one week to get out of danger of losing your membership due to bad grades. ONE. WEEK. Are we clear?!" She nodded to the detective.

Erin nodded back, and arose. "I've heard of some of the harassment issues that have been going on in the college. I'll warn you now, the Westbrook PD does not take that lightly, and my understanding is, neither does the school. I'm the head detective for the police investigation into the meteor Sunday. If you have had any odd symptoms, please feel free to speak to me confidentially. I only need numbers, not names, along with what happened. My captain has only asked for statistic verification, to see if it matches the commissioner's estimation. I'll let you know if any "odd" symptom was a concern. I'm doubtful it will be. Ginger will be with me to ease concerns farther."

Ginger nodded, "Come talk to the detective about either thing mentioned. Harassment issues will be passed to the proper lead, symptoms from the meteor is her case, as she said. Please open up about either." She banged the gavel. "Meeting adjourned."

This would give Marko his opportunity to approach both his head sister and the detective, worry free. Erin would only raise an eyebrow, scoff and shake her head about his.

On the Road @Inkybus (Amaya)

Rebecca listened, but continued watching the traffic. "I can't blame you there, but I hope it doesn't come to that. We need healers on this side of the pond, too. Just do me a favor, and alert Gabe as well as me. He's been getting very disappointed... Among other things, with the government hoops and red tape. Even before this era of superpowers. Several people he thought he knew have changed in ethics. I've seen it as well. Like I said, this is across both party lines. The grab of power by the mayor, and consent from certain members of the council and the police commissioner of the opposite party, say that. I don't know who's in whose pocket, and I fear I'm possibly looking at a RICO case here."

After a breath, she changed the subject as they got off the interstate. "Let's both just plan on relaxing, now, get into your role as my third cousin so we don't draw suspicions from the wrong people, even by mistake." They pulled into the hotel parking garage. "Damn. Twenty dollars? Highway robbery." She muttered, giving the money over to go park. They could go in together, just making their check in time of 7:00.

(Everyone could be at seven, except Delta Lambda Pi)

On the Road - Amaya "Melia" Sosa @Frozen Princess
"There are healers with powers in Europe already?"

Amaya queried, skeptically. She did not believe for a second that that was the case: if someone existed with powers that healed other people, without also being able to teleport or somehow turn incorporeal or invisible to the senses, they would be very quickly swarmed by grateful and/or greedy people that wanted their help. And they would not be able to escape, without powers.

People would have their pictures, stories and news of it out in a heartbeat, in this… the age of technology. Social media was fast and unbiased like that.

This was precisely the reason Amaya had not healed any person other than a few unconscious patients and her colleague- and there were already rumors in her old hospital, due to the miraculous recovery of said patients.

No more than a handful of people, to keep the risk to a very minimum.

"Grab of power by the mayor? Wouldn't their political career sink immediately after the powers that go beyond them take notice? This is not democratic…"

She exited the car and accompanied Rebecca out of the parking garage and into the hotel proper when she left. Rebecca shrugged and gainsaid her, though did not offer her thoughts on the matter: Amaya frowned at that. If there was a healer with powers anywhere in the world... actual, provable your-arm-was-gone-and-then-it-was-back like, she wanted to know.

Together, they arrived at the concierge desk, eventually.

Delta Lambda Pi Fratority - Marko
MLPrn7x.png

Marko listened to Ginger lay it down all simple-like and nodded along with it: people who were in college were supposed to learn first and foremost. Networking and playing around came after that, that much he believed with certainty.

"I would like to reiterate the offer I made the first day. Repetitia iuvat, or so I have been told… if you need help studying engineering, I can set aside a few hours in a week and we can organise a tutoring session for ten bucks an hour."

He purposefully made the price basically minimum wage, so people wouldn't be too daunted by economical matters. It was no secret that he was the best when it came to engineering or physics in college, contending for the top spot a few times in the past… before he got the boost to his mind.

Everybody knew he could already be done with College and enter a ver well-paying position at a company, yet he remained to learn more and was there to help his junior and his peers.

Edith

When Sapphire explained the advantages of accepting Erin's offer of being PR Edith too nodded in agreement, especially as she also realised that perhaps the job might also include better funding as well as exclusive access to these people. Other than that and her initial objections about potential journalistic bias she didn't say much of anything about anything but rather just observed and listened. She did bite her bottom lip and met Sapphire's horrified look at the mention of Westbrook becoming a reservation, like those into which the First Nations had been forced into as the US government expanded their territories across the continent, with an acknowledging nod. But at the same time Erin's warning only made her want to investigate Roswell and Area 51 even more than the other two. She also found it curious that Erin had not mentioned either of those two places by name but simply referred to the incident by the year it had happened. Was the incident in truth as deeply disturbing as that of the name Tom Marvolo Riddle had chosen for himself when he decided to enslave the world under his rule, had Roswell become that which cannot be mentioned by name? At the same time Erin had not said to not investigate just to know that doing so might have serious consequences, not just for them personally but for all of Westbrook.

She was less interested in sitting through a Fratority meeting even though she had been a Delta Lambda Pi only a few months back, in fact the room she had shared with another girl from upstate New York was only two doors down from Su-Ji's, and so having been excused by Ginger or Cardio or whatever name she wanted to go by she walked out of the house and on her way almost bumped into a tall guy that had a slightly Eastern European look about him, but also, with his clean shaven head kind of looked a bit like Lex Luthor. She rolled her eyes at herself and once outside she walked across the quad, found a bench and sat down, lit a cigarette and mused about how it was such a sharp edge between college and adult life. It was less than a year ago she had been sitting on that very bench every morning with a large mug of ridiculously strong coffee, smoking her first cigarette of the day before going back in to shower and then head out for class if she had any or to the photo lab if she didn't. It was almost like it was another person entirely, someone who lived in an entirely different world altogether, certainly someone with fewer responsibilities.

Another thing she had never done on that bench when she was still a student and active member of the Fratority was to send an encrypted text message to the same ex girlfriend to whom she had sent the original files of the meteorite exploding, the same one that had exposed their history teacher Mr Baines as a sexual predator their last year of high school.
Need deep dig into weather balloon 1949.
Again she thought to herself, just because I'm being paranoid does not mean they are not out to get me. She had in fact laughed a bit when Ella had suggested the app for encrypted text messages as a means for them to communicate secretly if they needed to.

Su-Ji

Su-Ji too had mostly listened after having made her opening statements. She was not exactly fond of the idea of being forced into some kind of superhero team though. It would be a natural development perhaps for herself and Ginger to team up with others who had been affected by the meteorite one way or another but to have it be an order from the Westbrook PD was another thing altogether. She would have preferred to work alone, or with Ginger, in using her powers to stop bad people from doing bad things. She also realised that after what they had all seen at the Golden Spoon the day before that it would certainly take a group effort to stop a person like Blair from continuing to wreak havoc on the small town, and perhaps beyond.

She took a seat at the far end of the table from Ginger because it would make her a little less visible when everyone turned their attention to the head of the Fratority. She knew that much of what Ginger talked about did not affect her personally, at least not directly.
It is, she mouthed back to Ginger when for the umpteenth time she was reminded how some administrators of the american school system still seemed to struggle with the fact that her family name came before her given name, as the tradition was in Korea where she had been born and named. Often her registration papers for school and other organisations, even her drivers license, said Kim Su-Ji Thurston, effectively specifying both her family names while probably thinking the first was just another given name. She had thought that Ginger, whom she had known for at least four years now, would know this without having to ask. She had after all shown her her driver's licence with the error on it when she got it and they had laughed about it. At least having had her name called, even if it was the wrong order, meant she was not on any kind of academic probation. That would have indeed been embarrassing, to get kicked out for bad grades, when she had not yet even moved into her room upstairs.

Loni

After a few more classes Loni went straight home, had a quick snack of cucumber sticks and a handful of cherry tomatoes. She did most of her homework and a quick aerobics session as she always did. She had the blinds and curtains open as she stood in front of her bed, fully visible from Windy's window, doing everything from burpees to jumping jacks, very well aware that most of the exercises made her breasts jiggle. Every time she caught a glimpse of Windy across the fence she smiled happily and then, without closing the curtains or the blinds, she undressed and got into the shower.

By the time Windy rang the doorbell Loni was already heading downstairs in a tight red dress with matching shoes, (and very little else). This was entirely planned so that she would make an entrance for Windy coming down the stairs. It was her mother who opened the door but as soon as she saw her daughter coming downstairs like a queen and the big smile on Windy's face she made herself scarce but not before mouthing to Loni: About time.
Out loud she simply told Windy that she expected her daughter home no later than eleven.

Delta Lambda Pi Fratority around 3:00pm @Inkybus (Marko) @MsBloom (Su-Ji)

With the meeting over, and the few people with issues for the detective dealt with, Ginger and Erin went their separate ways.

Erin approached Marko, to speak to him privately one on one. "I want to thank you again for your help with tutoring. That is sure to go a long way in, at least, the academic end. Although I don't see how any of your symptoms would be a factor, or send red flags up with my captain, I wanted to approach you on the subject of whether you knew about anyone else." She then showed him the list she had made, by order of her captain, handing the paper over. He would recognize at least three of the names. Ginger's, Su-Ji's, and her own. He might recognize Blair and Windy's (but hers only as the waitress at the Golden Spoon). Blair's, unfortunately, would have a big red X next to it with a note also in red. Caused scene and severe damage to property at Golden Spoon. At large. She didn't know about Amaya Sosa or Duchess Olivia Nevrakis. Or anyone else for that matter. Obviously, there was more to the story than the narrative, although it was true, too. Erin WAS the lead detective in the meteor, by order of her captain. She was also ordered by her to create a team of metahumans to be brought to the captain to be deputized... But not even Erin knew that right now that the plan WAS to deputize the heroes.

"As soon as I finish here with you, I have to talk to her." She tapped the paper at Windy's name.

Ginger, meanwhile, met up with Su-Ji. "Okay, let's get your stuff and Nefertiti before your mom gets home. I don't think either one of us wants to try to explain your, ahh, transformation, to your mom."

771 Sunset Street¹, 6:10pm and later The Lighthouse restaurant. @MsBloom (Loni)

Windy blushed at Loni's mom, giving the curfew. "At least Loni's got an extra hour. Mom just told me to be home by ten, because it's a school night."

"Dang, Loni!" She gave a wolf-whistle, presenting her with the flowers. "Although I hope your dress won't flair. I mean even the city streets speed limits of 35... I mean I'm open air." Physics weren't exactly her strong suit. Zapper was constantly helping her in that department.

Hefting Loni up in a princess carry, and bracing herself, she closed the door behind them and took off down the sidewalk, right past the patrol officer, who blew his whistle. "Use the STREET if you're going to go that fast! And obey the traffic laws!"

Windy would accidentally turn into driveway of the mall where the restaurant was stand alone, looking out over the river, just as the light turned red, essentially, possibly earning her first citation. After all, the traffic camera would catch her picture... And speed on the turn. 33 mph. At least her speed was legal.

The hostess at the front looked both over. "Reservation?"

After catching her breath, Windy nodded. "For two, under MacEnroe. Seven o'clock. Patio."

The hostess nodded after finding them, checked the clock which said 6:45 and said, "Very well. Follow me." She led them to a booth on the patio overlooking the river, presenting both with their menus. "Enjoy your meal, ladies, the wait staff will be by momentarily."

Windy took a moment to take in the hard redwood flooring and railings, the 19th century style lighting and even the awning over their heads, before looking at Loni and smiling. "First time I've been here, I'm kinda glad I could see it with you. Umm, have you been here before?"

Capitol Hyatt Regency 7:00 pm @Inkybus (Amaya)

The concierge at the desk sighed as he checked the reservation. "Knight, Knight.... Not seeing you."

Rebecca muttered under her breath that Ilona or Luka would never have screwed this up, followed by. "Joaquin, we're going to have words..." Also only quiet enough for Amaya to hear. To the concierge, she said, "Try under my third cousin, here. Last name Stuart. S-t-u..."

The concierge cut her off, "Yes, here you are. 708 and 710. Shared bathroom. Here's your cards, enjoy your stay with us." Rebecca sighed. It was supposed to be one room with a double bed. She shook her head. "Well...." She was cut off as the concierge called her back.

"Did you say you're Rebecca Knight? I have a message for you from a Gabriel Ricci?"

Rebecca sighed and took the message. Sorry I didn't catch Joaquin's screw up earlier. Use only one of the rooms. Both should have double beds.

She showed Gabe's note to Amaya. "You pick. Apparently it's under your name." She whispered. "Which one do we use?"

1-The suburban addresses are six numbers apart. The MacEnroes are still right next door at 777.

Capitol Hyatt Regency - Amaya "Melia" Sosa @Frozen Princess
When it came out that the reservation was in her name, she sighed and then shrugged in a 'what can you do' manner, though it was slightly exaggerated.

As soon as they were on the way again and, in her opinion, out of earshot from the concierge or any other people nearby, she turned to Rebecca and listened to the message: "Let's take 710, then."

She did not pick it for any particular reason, as her swift shrug indicated a moment later.

Delta Lambda Pi Fratority - Marko
MLPrn7x.png

Marko stepped to the side along with Erin, when she indicated to him that she wanted to have a word in private with him: he stopped at a polite talking distance and then listened to the end.

"No need to thank me, ma'am: I am getting some money out of it, after all. I'm Marko Stojanovic, nice to meet you..?"

He introduced himself politely, though did not offer a hand for a handshake due to recent health regulations sticking pretty well with him.

"What exactly do you mean by 'symptoms'? Did the meteorite bring a hitherto undiscovered illness?"

He suspected that she meant 'people with powers', but did not know for sure. And, of course, he would not admit to having powers in the first place: that would go against the whole point of having a secret identity, which he would want to achieve his future goals at speed.

Su-Ji @Frozen Princess (Ginger)

It was well into the afternoon when Su-Ji and Ginger finally had a moment to themselves to take care of the more practical details of moving Su-Ji into the dorms at the Delta Lambda Pi Fratority. It wouldn't be an all too strenuous move, at least not initially. There were already all the basic furniture set up in the room and all that really needed to be moved from Su-Ji's room at home were clothes, books, wall decorations and a few minor knick-knacks. Books and her lap top as well of course and last but far from least Nefertiti. It could all be done in two hours if they didn't get distracted and so the two friends set off back to the apartment where Nefertiti greeted them sitting a few feet away from the door, tail wrapped around her front paws as if she had known they were about to arrive, and she probably had known, cats do after all have much keener senses than most humans, and it was not unusual at all for Nef to greet Su-Ji this way. She did however not say anything but rather just followed the two woman around as they began to pack up Su-Ji's stuff.

She hopped onto the windowsill and sat there acting mostly disinterested in their human activities but she did momentarily look at Su-Ji who nodded back at her.
"That's right Nef. We're moving out. From now on we'll be staying at the Fratority and you will be its official mascot, earning your keep by catching mice and stuff."
Whether or not she actually did roll her eyes before rolling herself up into a ball in the spot of sun on the windowsill it appeared to Su-Ji, and perhaps to Ginger too, that she did.
"Hey. No need to act all offended about it. I'm sure you will be appreciated in other ways too by the students who live there. Just imagine how many legs there will be to rub up against, how many hands to pet you."
Su-Ji smiled as it was now obvious that Nefertiti was doing her very best to ignore her, acting as if none of the above interested her in the least.
"And don't worry I'm bringing your bed as well."

Nefertiti's bed, in which she rarely slept during the nights which she preferred to spend in bed with Su-Ji but which she took a fair amount of naps in during the day was an elevated wicker basket with a soft pillow inside that showed clear signs of also being used as a scratching board. And with that all packed into Su-Ji's Cooper Mini Hatch Su-Ji went back up to get Nefertiti into her portable cage only to find the cat already inside.
"Admit that you are a little excited about moving, right?"
"Fresh hunting grounds are of course always fun," Nef said.
"But all those other people better show som respect and not try to use me as some kind of petting zoo. Us cats are quite picky about such things."
"Don't worry. I will make sure to inform them that they have to let you come to them first, ok?"
Su-Ji then took out the collar the dean had demanded Nefertiti wore. It was a simple leather collar with a name tag on it.
"Just one last thing Nef. I'm sorry but you will have to wear this as well?"
"A Collar? You're serious?" Nef said, quite offended by the idea of having to wear anything that would mark her as anything but a free cat.
"It's that or you can't live with me. You will have to stay here with Mom."
"I'm a cat first, some kind of human hybrid thing second. I can come and go as I please. I doubt it would be very difficult to sneak into your new home undetected whenever it pleases me."
Su-Ji sighed.
"Of course it wouldn't. I don't think anyone would think so. It's just that well ... the Fratority needs to be able to identify you as well you ... Look, it's got your name on it and everything."
"one of them yes. What about Cleopatra, why isn't that on there?"
Su-Ji sighed again and explained that contrary to popular belief not everyone knew about all cats having three names: First a familiar name used on a daily basis, then a more particular name to help you keep your tail perpendicular and to strut about with pride and not a care in the world, and last a secret name that no human will ever discover, that only the cat would know and never confess, an ineffable name for you to contemplate in profound meditation, what humans might call staring blankly into nothing."
Nefertiti just smiled or at least appeared to smile the way cats sometimes do even though their lips lack the muscle to actually smile but said nothing in response.
"If you like we can maybe exchange it later for something more to your own tastes," Su-Ji continued.
"Something more ... goth perhaps, with a few cool spikes. And of course both your names that are know to others than yourself. Consider this one temporary, ok?"
"Promise?"
Su-Ji nodded.
"So tonight we shop for a replacement then?"
"Promise. We'll have a look online and you can have any collar and pendant you want.
With a lick of her left paw Nefertiti then agreed to wear the collar.

Loni @Frozen Princess (Windy)

"I know what we can use that extra hour for," Loni said once they were away from her house.
It was a bit weird to be carried all through Westbrook, wearing a tight red dress that clung enticingly to her body, by a speed walking Windy, passing cars stopping at most of the red lights except for the last one which Loni assumed Windy passed by mistake. Luckily though the dress was at least long enough to not flash everyone they passed, especially considering that Loni wore nothing underneath it. Now there would have been a viral video on social media for sure.

Still, Loni felt very much on display as Windy walked up to the restaurant's hostess still carrying her.
"You can put me down now," she whispered as if to remind Windy that she did have legs of her own to stand on.
This was followed by a partially embarrassed giggle and a smile at the hostess once her feet actually touched the ground again and she had smoothed out her dress.

As the hostess then showed them to their table Loni took Windy's hand and couldn't stop the blissful smile spreading across her face. There were a few heads that turned to look at them but Loni just didn't care. Perhaps same-sex couples weren't all that common in Westbrook as in larger cities, at least not officially, but Loni didn't mind people looking at them like some sort of curiousity. They might just as well be looking at them because they had noticed the rather unusual way in which they had arrived at the restaurant.

Moments after they had been seated a waitress, not more than a few years older than themselves, appeared to take their orders.

Blair/Alexa Monday night

Blair and Alexa had perhaps not known each other very well before the meteor forever changed their lives but the had always known of each other, recognised each other as freaks as the term around Westbrook surely was for people like them who were not comfortable with the gender they had been assigned at birth, even though they differed in their perceived gender, Alex Guthrie (now Alexa) being entirely female at her core while Blair was non-binary, (neither male nor female and both).

It was for this reason that Blair approached Alexa when they realised that she too had taken residence at the flophouse.
"So ... Don't take this the wrong way but ... you've changed. Meteor related I would presume."
Alexa nodded and glanced down at the small but still fairly obvious protrusions on her chest, the breasts she had grown literally over night and which she hoped would continue to grow, at least a little more, with time.
"And not just that. I've changed entirely. I am female in every respect now, though ..."
She hesitated and closed her eyes as she heard the voice inside her, the voice that had not been there before she had changed.
Your deepest wish come true, but all wishes comes with a price, do they not?
She explained about the shadow she felt inside her.
"An alien parasite perhaps," Blair suggested.
"Like Venom."
Alexa nodded. It made sense. Why assume that the meteor that had exploded over Westbrook Sunday evening had not contained some form of primitive life form, or even the hibernating spores of an advanced life form. Perhaps this meant there were others just like her out there, perhaps the one that had attached itself to her was the only one that had survived the explosion.

The two had talked through their first night as metahumans and found they also shared an anger, not to say rage, against the society that had refused to accept them as they were, that had ridiculed and bullied them. Blair also realised that having someone like Alexa at their side when seeking revenge for the abuse they had suffered up until the night before would give them a clear advantage and together the two of them would be even more unstoppable than they had already proved themself to be in their own right.

Tuesday night @Inkybus (Schro)

Having spent most of Tuesday discovering and exploring each others' new found abilities together Blair and Alexa now found themselves in gangland, as they called it, the territory of Hijos de Renzo, the children of Renzo, whoever Renzo might be. They had been walking around side by side for a while, Alexa mostly in her shadow form and thus barely discernible to even the keenest eye. She would be little for than a flicker of extra deep darkness in the corner of the eye and when Blair finally approached a young man who did not really look to fit in with a gang that used a Hispanic name but who was clearly the man to talk to about buying drugs.

Westbrook College/Su-Ji's Home @MsBloom (Su-Ji)

With Ginger watching on with an eyebrow raised, since all she was hearing was Su-Ji's side of the conversation in English, she finally shook her head, and started taking the things out to the car, starting with Nefertiti's cat bed. She soon learned, she'd need to put the stuff around it to get everything in the first trip. She shook her head as she swore the cat HAD indeed rolled her eyes.

When it looked like all the meowing on Nefertiti's side was finished, "I think that's the most vocal I think I've ever heard her. What was the issue? Her student ID?" Got it in one. "I hope you explained to her that we all have to have one. Even us humans. Granted not everyone wears it around the neck, but a few do." Although she was talking to Su-Ji, she was looking at Nefertiti as she said the last sentence.

Ginger sighed as she got back in the car with all Su-Ji's things and her little cat, too¹. "I can't help you unpack, unfortunately. It's Tuesday. My turn to cook. Those of us who can, have dinner duty, meaning cooking for the whole house. Thankfully, you'll have someone else doing your pots, pans and cooking utensils on your day, unless you can't cook?" She rubbed her temples. "You'd think I would remember that, as long as we've been friends... Hellova week so far. Rate I'm going, I'll forget my head if it wasn't fastened on."

She sighed as she headed for the kitchen, "I'll call when dinner's ready, just unpack and relax." She smiled.

@Inkybus (Marko)

Meanwhile, Erin gave a chuckle as she patted Marko's back, and answered cordially. "Only thing I need is what type of symptoms. Broad strokes. I'll read mine." She flipped a page. "Meteor related symptoms, mental and emotional. Self care of rest. Professional, had first visit with police therapist." She closed the pad. "I saw him after my captain chewed me out, and put me on the meteor case, Marko. I just needed someone to vent to after she basically benched me. My own symptoms are emotionally taxing, and I suppose you can call meteor induced powers 'symptoms' if you want. I just have to in my report to the captain. I don't know why the commissioner needs this shit, and even the captain in her tirade even said he's overstepping. Who CARES how the meteor affected us? I'm just doing this to appease the powers that be, and keep my job. Do I put you down with anything?"

7:00pm

Westbrook International Airport

Olivia Nevrakis frowned and crossed her arms, as she stared down the hapless Air Force Lieutenant. "You want to run that by me again?! WHY aren't you letting anyone leave? It's been two days! You've had your mandatory 48 hours! It's actually," she checked her watch with a glower. "Fifty!"

Air Force Captain Elizabeth Hennessy sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Look, Duchess, your guess is as good as mine. We've been cleared by the State. This seems to be local, and since it's after five, we're stuck until eight tomorrow morning."

Olivia took a deep breath. "You guys are basically holding me and any other people traveling internationally up. King Liam wants me home yesterday, but I had to explain about the mandatory 48 hour shutdown after the meteor exploded. People were going to visit family in the old country. Business meetings have to be rescheduled or cancelled outright. Those of us that are dignitaries can't go to their homes, which will cause hurt feelings with countries at best, international incidents at worse. We can go out of city, but not across state or international lines? What kind of crap is that?!"

Hennessy held up a hand as her radio squawked. She hit the button. "Captain Hennessy, here."

"Fly Girl, you asked for the Governor? He's calling back."

"Patch him through. I've got a foreign diplomat here that's trying to get home."

"Roger."

After a minute, the Governor's voice came over the radio. "Governor Fox, what's the issue? Captain, I told your brass already you guys are clear."

"We're being held here under orders to ground all international flights. I have the Cordonian Ambassador here, with me. The next voice you hear will be hers." She held out the radio. "All yours, Duchess."

Olivia grumbled, cleared her throat and began speaking. "Good evening, Governor Fox. Olivia Nevrakis. I've been called home and cannot get clearance to fly out. As the Captain said, Sir, she's been told by higher ups, among her brass, to ground all international flights out of Westbrook. My private jet has been locked up. Like I was telling her, I'm not the only one trying to get to the old country. There's people trying to visit family that live across the pond, or even across the southern border, even South America. If you have already cleared us to fly, what is the hold up? This can constitute kidnapping or unlawful incarceration. Take your pick. Either way, I'm about to tell King Liam not to bother having his embassy here, or anywhere in this state."

"We don't want that, Duchess, having the Cordonian Embassy in a landlocked state like this is exactly what your king wanted, right? It'll just take me a moment to fax your clearance to the Colonel in charge. Hold on for me."

Captain Hennessy made small talk with Olivia as they waited. Both kept checking their watches, Olivia glowering more and more, while Elizabeth gave flawless eye rolls and sighs of exasperation.

Fox came over the radio, irately, and obviously on the phone. "I'm the head you're supposed to be listening to, Colonel! You open up that damned airport RIGHT NOW, and let these people go! I hear you talking, but all I'm getting is excuses! Don't make me come down there! Then call the President, I dare you! I outrank the mayor!" After a shaky breath. "I suppose you heard, ladies. I'll be down there after my meeting in the morning with a lawyer from Westbrook. Apparently some politicos are overstepping. We are NOT a dictatorship. I'd like to speak to both of you. Some place public, yet indistinguishable."

Olivia rubbed her face. "It might be packed with college students, but there's the West Side Roast by the college, Governor."

"Perfect. I'll see you there, and maybe I can speak to some college students while I'm there. Ten thirty sound fine?"

"West Side Roast has sandwiches. Make it eleven, I can speak to King Liam by then." Olivia explained. "Breakfast rush will be over. It's usually until ten, and they have a two hour loll, besides, WiFi."

With a chuckle, Governor Fox agreed and said, "Good enough. I'll see you there."
(Set up for @Inkybus Marko to pop in on meeting Wednesday)

The Lighthouse @MsBloom (Loni)

Windy had looked over the menu while they were waiting, and glanced at Loni. She retook her hand across the table. "Mostly fish and seafood. Maybe I should have made it for Friday, huh? I'd heard such good things about this place though."

She looked up at the waitress and smiled. "Surf and Turf platter. Lemon pepper tilapia, and the steak medium well. Give me double order of buttered peas and onions for the sides and a pitcher of iced tea. That' drink is okay for you, right?" She asked, looking over to Loni for her order, knowing she had planned for this and had enough money, unless she herself ate more. The Surf and Turf platter came at another table nearby, and it was huge. If Windy didn't have a high metabolism now, it would have easily fed them both!

Capitol Hyatt Regency @Inkybus (Amaya)

Rebecca nodded with a smile. "710 it is." She stayed silent until they got inside the room and shut the door. Rebecca then said the plan. "Apparently, my meeting tomorrow is going to be in the governor's mansion. Lina had one there in a board room that would make ours you've been, at our offices, look like a living room in an apartment by comparison. I'm seeing someone from the party, as well as Governor Fox. After the meeting, we can touch base with what happened and then take the rest of the day off. We'll prepare Thursday for our Friday morning meeting. This evening is ours, what would you like to do?"

Capitol Hyatt Regency - Amaya "Melia" Sosa @Frozen Princess (Rebecca)
"Good schedule."

Amaya declared, after hearing out her attorney: she seemed to approve of the plans for the next days and, similarly, entered their temporary sleeping place, parking her luggage off to the side where it wouldn't be in the way.

"Do you like playing pool?"

The metahuman had an idea for an outing that eve, checking out various venues that had games and drinks, though with a cozy ambience.

Delta Lambda Pi Fratority - Marko @Frozen Princess (Erin)
MLPrn7x.png

Marko watched Erin mostly in a neutral manner, that became more wary after a couple minutes. When Erin reached out to attempt and pat him on the back, his wariness spilled into uncomfortableness and stopped her movement cold by interposing his left arm with her wrist.

"Please don't be this familiar with me, ma'am."

His eyes looked at her coolly, as he mulled over what and how to say it best and finally his thin lips parted again, tone more brusque than anything:

"I apologise, I can't help you there. Astrology, geology and the like are not areas I have studied or that interest me at present. If that's all?"

The student obviously wants to quit the conversation and take his leave.

~ That wednesday ~ West Side Roast ~ 10:15-ish ~ (Duchess Olivia)

Marko decided to listen to his craving for a good brunch consisting of the huge chicken sub over at the West Side Roast.

He had spent the previous evening checking himself and his workshop over for spying tech. Hidden bugs to record audio or video gave him the idea to quickly tinker up a power scanner to find out gadgets that needed power to work. He had cobbled something together in a couple of hours, muttering to himself in his workshop and oblivious to the world: the barcode scanner he had bought ages ago for a gag was dismantled and re-fitted with custom tech and put to good use immediately.

That night he spent going over every nook and cranny of all his clothes, belongings and living spaces, until his spike in caution was appeased by finding out that he had no bugs. Or ratcheted up to a paranoid level, if it turned out that something had been bugged after all!

Either way, his force-skeleton was hidden under a pair of baggy sweatpants as well as a bulky brown leather jacket: rolling his shoulders, he stepped into the diner and went to the cashier to place his order.

Hijos de Renzo turf | an alley - Schro @MsBloom (Blair and Alexa)
8h5Ijoj.png

"You did alright with the last one, so keep that up."

A voice said from the alley that Blair and Alexa were approaching. Rounding the corner, they found out that the speaker was a person sitting on some cardboard atop a dumpster, wearing grey sweatpants, as well as a long-sleeved grey shirt. The top half of his face was covered by a black mask that looked like a human, but with a nose that was overly-crooked, with a fake wart on the left side. It also had a white hood-veil that covered the head of the costumed freak.

"Oh, What's up?"

With the strange freak was a normal-looking gangster that obviously belonged to the Hijos de Renzo, at least to someone street-savvy, who could recognize the gang colors that were present on his clothes. A pretty swell lemon-yellow armband tied on his bicep, as well as an iron chain necklace. This normal guy had a weary expression, possibly from interacting with Schro, who was looking the new arrival(s) up and down, eyes considering behind that mask.

Loni @Frozen Princess (Windy)

Not having the same heightened metabolism Windy did Loni ordered a more regular sized meal of seared Tuna with soy sauce on a bed of black rice. The iced tea was quite alright with her to drink with the meal even if perhaps she herself would have chosen something more along the lines of a Pepsi. This was however Windy's treat and Loni didn't really mind. In fact she was much too infatuated with Windy to really mind about anything. She wouldn't have minded sharing the surf and turf platter either even though she had never really understood the idea of mixing steak and fish in the same meal.

She mostly forgot to eat once the food came as all her attention was focused on Windy and how beautiful she really was, all dressed up the way she was, and of course the smile that lingered on Loni's face also came from the fact that she knew exactly what was waiting underneath those clothes. She had seen Windy undressed enough times for her to easily bring up the image in her head. Perhaps later that evening that would if not spoil then at least dampen the excitement of their first time together, whether it would be just kissing and making out or more. Still though, Loni might have seen Windy undressed before but she still hadn't felt her body in her hands and just thinking about it she could almost feel her fingertips burning.

By the time the meal was over the two walked hand in hand along the river promenade with the stars and moon fading in above them. They stopped at the far end where there was an observation point overlooking the ravine on the other side of the river where the plane and most of the meteorite had crashed. Loni pulled Windy close and kissed her, softly at first but more passionately with each touch of their lips.
"What do you say we head back and use that extra hour I have before I have to be home for more of this?"

Blair & Alexa @Inkybus (Schro)

Alexa still kept in the shadows as Blair walked up to the man in the sweat suit and rather odd looking mask. It was almost as if he was dressed like some kind of superhero, or a bizarre character from a commedia dell'arte performance. This had Blair looking at him for a while longer than they had at first intended, kind of taken by the appearance.
"Two bags of weed and four Molly," they said and indicated with their hand that he had money.

Su-Ji & Nefertiti @Frozen Princess (Ginger)

"You know I can cook, at least well enough to not poison anyone, unless I want to," Su-Ji said and laughed softly at just how confused her old friend seemed at the moment but no wonder. She had had a hectic couple of days.
"I'll be sure to sign up when I come down for dinner."

With Ginger gone to the kitchen to cook dinner for the Fratority Su-Ji began unpacking her things. It was after all not a lot of stuff that needed to be put away. She put up a few posters on the walls, spread out a few candles in dark shades, some of them scented, on metal plates around the room and began to put away her clothes.

In the meantime Nefertiti took the opportunity to explore her new home. She followed Ginger to the kitchen where she was reasonably sure that bite size pieces of meat, fish and cheese might drop to the floor in front of her. She knew better than to beg though but rather she simply made her presence known and acted as if she couldn't really care less if someone dropped any delicacies her way. On the way she met a few of the new humans she assumed were the one Su-Ji had promised would not pet her until she allowed them and it seemed most of them were on board with that already.

What Nefertiti had not noticed, still being in her travelling cage, was that one of the first things Su-Ji had done as she arrived back at the Fratority was to put up a poster on the message board informing the other residents about Nefertiti's arrival and asking them to please respect her personal space: "Let here come to you first," it said at the bottom of the poster.

Having taken stock of all those other people Nefertiti made her way up the stairs only to find the door and the window overlooking the roof both locked. This would certainly not do and she would have words about it with Su-Ji when she got back down. How could these people expect her to live here if they didn't install cat doors to allow her to move around freely. She had noticed that there wasn't one in the door to where Su-Ji would live either.

She did however spend some time on the windowsill looking out the window. The roof seemed much larger than her old rooftop garden but with much fewer plants. It seemed to be mostly concrete which of course was boring because it certainly did not attract as many birds as for instance bushes did.

Delta Lambda Pi (wrap-up, about 3:15)

Erin didn't want to pressure him if he didn't want to even say he was having mental issues with the meteor exploding, and put her hands up when he blocked the pat. She closed her pad, after all, according to the captain, she didn't need names or specifics. She nodded, when he asked if that was all. No sense making something out of nothing.

7:45pm everywhere else.

Capitol (Amaya) @Inkybus

It had been a while since Rebecca had been out on the town, even down in Westbrook. She nodded, smiled, and said, "If it's still there, I know the perfect place. First place I went to in the state after I got back from Minnesota after getting my law degree. O'Flaherty's Pub on Talbot Street in Little Ireland. Billiards, darts, pints of almost any Irish lager or ale you can think of. They also have top shelf Irish whiskey. Decent eats as well, well, except the Shamrock pie." She made a face and shivered. "I swear it's like eating grass, or at least, REAL shamrocks. Everything else is good. So, what do you say? O'Flaherty's?" She'd pull out a medium length strapped green dress to put on for the night out.

If Amaya did take Rebecca up on that particular pub, she would also find pub quiz, cribbage, leprechaun hat toss, live music, and a place outside for Cornhole, shuffleboard and Quoits; they could essentially stay until the last bell. Though, they might not want to go all the way to 2am, considering Rebecca had to go to the governor's mansion in the morning.

Westbrook (Loni) @MsBloom

By the time, Erin would get to Windy's place, Windy and Loni were already out on the date, but expected back soon. Erin left a message with Mary, and decided to wait for Windy's call, knowing it probably wouldn't be until Wednesday morning sometime, if not lunch.

At the riverwalk after several kissing on the lips, and a passionate liplock, that Windy gave, that left even her breathless, she nodded, and scooped her up in the princess carry for the "ride" home, and headed back, heeding the traffic laws. This time, Windy remembered to set Loni down on her feet, before crossing the threshold of the front door of the MacEnroe residence.

"I'm home!" She called out, as she pointed Loni to the steps, leading up to her room.

"It's just after nine. Everything went alright, didn't it?"

"Sure did, Mom, we're gonna go to my room for a bit. I promise I will save Loni enough time to get next door before her curfew." Windy promised. "The Lighthouse is really awesome. They have a very nautical vibe, as well as mostly seafood dishes."

"Nice to know, but you can't have that bedroom door shut, while Loni's up there."

Windy balked. "Mooom! It's LONI! Besides, we're both girls!"

Mary came into the living room, long enough after they came in for Loni to already be up the stairs. "Uh-huh, but Loni is special, isn't she? You've finally admitted to yourself what your dad and I have suspected for some time. This was your first date. You're SEEING Loni, isn't that right?"

Windy fidgeted. "Mooom, I reiterate, we're both GIRLS! It's not like we can get each other pregnant!"

Mary put her hands on her hips. "And it's exactly this fussing about the rule, is why the door stays open. I've been to exploration slumber parties, I may not have gotten involved in their nonsense, but I've seen what happens. I don't want to see you ruin your relationship with your girlfriend. Door. Open. We clear, or does she go home early?"

Windy sighed and nodded, slinking up the stairs, "We're clear."

When she entered her room, she rubbed her face, took off the jacket part of her tuxedo, slung it over a bedpost and looked at Loni. "I suppose you heard. She didn't say we couldn't make out, she just said we can't close the door and REALLY make out." She sighed. "I'm so curious, though. I'd like to do more than just kissing your lips." She bit her lower lip, looking Loni over, and patting the spot next to the bed. "I guess, you'd have to lead, and yet stay within my parents' boundaries." The longing to really explore being lesbian, clear in her eyes.

Capitol Hyatt Regency - Amaya "Melia" Sosa @Frozen Princess
Rebecca's suggestion got an affirmative answer from Amaya, who knelt to open her luggage.

"O'Flaherty's Pub it is! Though I won't be able to buy alcohol: fingerfood will have to do."

She was considered an adult, at nineteen years of age, but she still could not legally drink in the US of A. Something that she considered wrong, if her dry tone was anything to go by.

From her clothes, she chose a simple set of unisex blue-gray straight trousers, a feminine black blouse that probably was a size or half a size too big, simple silver ring earrings, white ankle socks and black trainers.

The metahuman got changed and then followed Rebecca to find out what the best route was they would take to reach the irish pub.

"Do you play these kind of 'pub games' often?"

Amaya asked, conversationally as well as curious to learn more about her partner-in-law.

Hijos de Renzo turf | an alley - Schro @MsBloom
8h5Ijoj.png

Schro had already noticed that there was two sets of perceptions from just one point, though he did not react outwardly until it was time to speak. Looking over to the newbie drug-dealer for just a moment, he addressed the strangers that had entered the alley:

"Two bags of weed and four Molly would generally be…"

He mulled it over and gave a fair price, that sat comfortably on the fence named 'average'. It was not a good or a bad deal, just the middle way.

"But I would be willing to change that."

His smile and his words shocked the newbie drugdealer, who was the one that carried the drugs and had never seen the young caucasian be so open to discuss prices before. Ignoring his shocked mutterings, Schro informed the prospective buyers:

"We are in a bit of a sitch right now. Couple of coppers have gotten wind that I'm here and are coming to check out the place. You have a minute to skedaddle and get away without any pigs catching your scent. But if you help me out here, I'll lop off twelve percent of the price."

His blue eye looked Blair over, while the other looked through the vision of the cop veering into a street close by. They were fast approaching and keeping their unit informed.

Loni @Frozen Princess (Windy)

While Windy argued biology and open doors with her mom Loni had made it all the way up to Windy's room and by the time her girlfriend, they were girlfriends now, right, (Loni certainly hoped that whatever had already happened and what might still happen that evening it was more to Windy than just ... an experiment), entered the room she would find Loni sitting at the desk browsing something on her phone which she put down the moment Windy entered.
"Most of it yea. Nice try using biology on your mom," Loni said and giggled t the thought of her and Windy getting each other pregnant.
Perhaps it would be possible some time in the future, through gene-splicing or some other such experimental technology. They were of course far too young to even think about it as it was.
"There is a lot we can still do though," she added and shot Windy a seductive smile and sat down next to Windy.
"First of all, as I am sure you already know, one major advantage of being a girl is that ... well we don't really have to take things out to get the job done, if you know what I mean."
She laid down on her back, winked at Windy and then slowly pulled her dress up to show Windy she wasn't wearing anything under, no fabric to cover her vulva, surrounded as it was by a thin carpet of neatly groomed soft blonde pubes.
"Skirts and dresses help too of course."
She winked again and then took Windy's hand and guided it to the very top of those soft hairs.
"You're a girl too so ... just do what you usually do to make yourself feel good. I'll let you know if it doesn't tickle my feathers."

Blair & Alexa @Inkybus (Schro)

"A minute huh? That's quite precise. How can you be so sure when they are going to arrive?"
Blair looked at Schro and then it dawned on them.
"Of course. The meteorite. Right?"
They then nodded. Twenty percent discount on the drugs did sound like a good deal for an opportunity to kick some police ass. Hopefully it would find its way back to that bitch of a detective who had failed them long ago.
"I'm game," they said and glanced to the shadows behind Schro's accomplice.
"What about you Alexa?"

Briefly revealing herself in her non-shadow form Alexa nodded and a sinister smile spread across her face.
"Yea. Let them come," she said and faded back into shadow form.

Not long after as the police car stopped outside the alley its windshield was crushed by a hail of small black pebbles, or bullets as one might perhaps also call them. The cops had not even had time to exit the car.

O'Flaherty's Pub, Little Ireland, State Capitol. About 8:00 pm @Inkybus (Amaya)

Once Rebecca oriented herself with her downtown surroundings, she pointed north. "Two blocks up and four west. You could probably do this six blocks in your sleep. I certainly can, even in these heels. We might need a cab or Dryve, back."

Rebecca led Amaya to a pretty old fashioned looking pub, with large plate glass windows full of Irish ales names. Overhead, in stereotypical green neon but in cursive lettering was "O'Flaherty's" with the shamrock as an apostrophe between the O and F. Another seemingly stereotype was the glass in the door in the shape of a four leaf clover, instead of the three leafed one in the neon sign.

Inside, the live band was playing a rousing number right out of Riverdance, with many people doing their version of the familiar steps. No one looked very professional doing the taps, and some seemed out of step.

Near the dance floor, were both trivia, cribbage and the hat toss tables. Along the opposite walls from the bar were billiards tables and three "lanes" for darts, the latter all had queues waiting to play.

The bar was lined up longwise along one wall, with two bartenders serving the counter, or setting up trays for the waitresses who were wearing a white just off the shoulders frilly top and tight dark green slacks to their ankles, and shoes that just looked a little more than Mary Janes with four inch medium size heels.

"Becky! I ant seen ye fer a minnit! Where ye bean keepin' yerself?"

For Rebecca, the Irish brogue was unmistakable. After a deep breath, she turned to the buxom fellow redhead, who was in a somewhat similar outfit as the other waitresses save a green blazer and gold tag, labelling her as the head. She smiled and stuck out her hand. "Hello, Shannon ye ol' cailin! How have you been? Where's your pa? I've been in Westbrook, with Ricci and Associates. Senior partner, fellow founder."

Shannon smiled and gave a hearty handshake. "Oh, Papa's about somewheres, I assure ye. I can't complain, pub's bean doin' exceptional." She eyed Amaya approvingly. "An' who might yer eye candy be. She's a fair cailin, herself." She grinned elbowing Rebecca a bit hard, yet still playfully.

"My third cousin." She nodded to Amaya to allow her to introduce herself, as long as she used Stuart for the last name. Amaya Sosa wasn't supposed to be up at the Capitol yet, and she didn't know how much she could trust her old friend Shannon, or her father (both NPCs) with who Amaya really was, even as far as client. "And there's two for preferably a booth." The pub was barely half full, there would be a booth, somewhere.

Windy's bedroom 9:15 pm @MsBloom (Loni)

Windy watched as Loni moved and her breath caught as Loni talked to her with a seductive voice. She blushed, bit her lip, and her breath caught again, as she had right in front of her, on her bed, Loni offering her touching privilege. Her eyes roamed the area, she smiled and gulped, and found herself starting to get damp.

With another gulp and clearing of her throat, she admitted, blushing redder, "I-I could n-never go, y'know, c-c-commando like that." She had nodded regarding the dress and skirt, she liked how free she felt in them, but was very uncomfortable at the same time, and even exposed, if she wore them at fancy functions like eating out and dances.

"Like I touch myself." She said hesitant, before caressing the area a few times, before using two fingers to slide up and down the slit, watching for Loni's reaction. Once she got the feel of her fingers along Loni's slit, she began rubbing along the actual slit separating the two sides of the labia. She worked her way back up to the clitoris and used a flipping motion with her forefinger similar to what she did on herself... A sort of rubbing the bean, since the touch never left the skin. "L-like this?" She asked, squirming and trying to pull her slacks at least down, around her own damp box. She was definitely feeling the heat in her core, and she actually liked it, but damnit, her pants were now in her way!

Westbrook Police District, Westbrook HS area. Erin 9:15pm

When the report came in on the shadowy bullets, Erin hopped up, grabbing her blazer jacket. "If these are metas, that involves me, I need to be the backup." Erin stated. "As head detective..."

"You will leave it to the detective in charge of the gang case, Holmes. You have enough on your plate. Just wait for the human Race Car to get back to you. I took you off the gang case for a reason. You froze up!" The Captain (NPC, she still needs a name) barked. "Stay in your lane, or I'll bench you even on the meteor case. Are we clear?"

Erin frowned. "This seems like meta, which IS related to MY case, ma'am."

The older detective that took over the gang case squeezed Erin's shoulder reassuring. "Relájate, hija. I'll call you if I need your help. You may be over me, but you're like a daughter to me, Erin. So, I reiterate, relájate, hija. Comprende?"

Erin let out her breath in an exasperated sigh. If the older man was going to go father on her... "Si, Papi. If you're sure."

The Captain pointed to the door. "Good. You're dismissed for the night. I'll see you in the morning. Go home, Erin!"
