Fox:
Oh dear... As Yusuke spoke, the fox couldn't help but picture the scene. A strong look of concentration on his face, Yusuke would have stared at the 'over medium-high' instruction like the recipe was insulting him on purpose; only to throw his hands in the air with a loud 'fuck it!' And set the stove to high.
Kurama snickered, hiding the noise with a polite mouthful of noodles.
At that setting the food would have started to burn very quickly, and Yusuke would be too stubborn to turn down the heat, so he'd just stir it faster in hopes of salvaging the meal. Shuichi couldn't stop his laugh this time; his food swallowed he looked at Yusuke and cleared his throat to stop the sound. "Over medium-high is a setting between medium and high. Once the shrimp is cooked the sauce is added and you turn the setting to low and leave it to simmer."
EDDE:
He pouted a bit at the laughter, but it seemed to lighten his mood as that serious look that had drawn across his face changed. It quickly grew confused. "But that's just medium high," he argued pointlessly, blinking a bit after the moment it took for him to realize his misunderstanding of the word 'over'. Finally, he laughed out his own stupidity. "Well, it's still a stupid way to say it," he concluded lightly.
After a few more bites of his own, he turned his attention to the hallway, having a need to rub at the bridge of his nose as he recognized the offensive smell he'd set through the house all over again when it seemed to be getting stronger as sat out. "And as for that frilly crap," he finally mentioned in a slightly heavier tone through that same embarrassment. "I didn't have any roses, but it has petals in it so it seemed like a good idea the time. And anyway, my mom tore the place apart while I was gone. The smell was helping, but now I remember why I don't like that stuff." It wasn't quite giving him a headache, but it sure Hell was threatening to.
Fox:
"It is a very... potent smell," he agreed, trying not to scrunch his nose in a childish manner. "Shall we be rid of it then?" He would never admit aloud that he would have preferred the stench of garbage; he would have been able to ignore that much easier. However, a sudden playful smile came to his lips. "Homemade dinner," or at least an attempted one, "eaten by candlelight, and a trail of flower petals leading to your bed."
Kurama placed his elbows on the table, his fingers laced and his chin resting on top of them. With a flirty gleam in his eyes he added, "Is there a movie next? Or should we skip it?"
EDDE:
He simply nodded toward the question of the potently spiced petal mixture just before finishing off the remaining broth in his bowl. He set it down as a tilt hit his head when redhead's stance shifted. There was a huff in his breath that displaced his bangs a bit through that same embarrassment that had rolled through him each time the things he'd done were brought up. Although the reason for the embarrassment changed swiftly through the look he was given and the last bit of what he had to say. Somehow in his upset over his screw up he'd missed the redhead mentioning that he'd seen where the trail led, so that didn't help the feeling.
He pouted a bit despite the heat that quite visibly traveled through him at the offer. That look Shuichi was giving him was almost intoxicating, and yet... He wasn't fishing for compliments but stating a rather obvious truth on the subject through his own opinion. "C'mon Shuichi. I screwed this up royally, and you know it. This dinner totally blows," he chuckled out, sounding a bit defeated for the crappy job he'd done. Although there actually was a movie he'd pulled out.
Oddly, though mostly as a derivative of his own thoughts on his attempts, he felt like the other teen was trying to humor him, and didn't think there was any need for that. Standing with a light smile, he collected the broom and dustpan to go and fix yet another thing he'd done that had turned into more of a nuisance than anything good, almost pointedly. If anything, he needed to fix at least this screw up first. Especially if the smell was bugging them both.
Fox:
Kurama chuckled and leaned down to blow out the candles. He still found the thought quite endearing. "The food, perhaps," he agreed with a slight nod before finishing off his own bowl. "Though in truth, I really don't mind it." The fox stood to gather their bowls with the intention of throwing them away... And get a better peek at the mess Yusuke managed to make.
"Besides, the night is far from over, is it not? Our date has hardly been ruined."
EDDE:
The detective returned the chuckle through a nod as he made his way into the hall to clean up the mess. "True." He agreed lightly.
The kitchen was a disaster area. While he'd tossed out any trash that he used when cooking, the mess primarily consisted of the actual cooking mess. The stove was covered in splattered sauce. In fact, a good deal of the closest counter to the stove, the wall, and even a small portion of the floor showed those obvious signs of the boiling of the sauce having gotten out of control.
The pots were piled on either side of the sink, saucepan with burned sauce still stuck to the bottom, noodle pan still looking a bit slimy despite having been rinsed out. The pan that Yusuke had substituted for a wok was on its own side, covered in water to soak at the bits of horribly charred remains of the stir fry that clung to it.
A couple improperly boiled stale noodles, perhaps the one part of the meal that wasn't his fault for how long ago they'd been bought, lined the sink from where he'd strained the pot. Bits of food that had escaped him during the process of cooking sat about variously close to the stove area. One could tell there had been the attempt to start cleaning the of it, as the burner he'd used to boil the water for their noodles was completely devoid of mess, but that was as far as it went, most likely interrupted the other teen's arrival.
The trash was filled with the hard, slimy noodles, bitter smelling burned sauce, and mostly charred stir fry. Several cooking utensils still sat about in various locations about the room, showing off the last of the remains of the chaos the poor boy had experienced in such a very valiant attempt at giving the redhead a good meal.
He walked into the kitchen a few moments after fox, not having had much to pull up in the trail of potpourri he'd left out. He sighed lightly at the mess he'd made as he poured it into the trash and shut the lid securely. "You know," he teased warmly as he looked over the mess for a moment before inevitably landing back on, and rolling over fox all over again. He seemed to be having trouble keeping his eyes from gluing to him, even during his moments of pouting that didn't last as they normally would for the effect the pampered teen had on him. "I didn't let you in here for a reason." He indicated the mess, of course. Although it had mainly had to do with their empty cupboards.
Fox:
Well it wasn't... that bad. The fox looked over the mess and again pictured Yusuke's attempts in the kitchen, and cringed when he thought of the poor teen getting splattered with boiling sauce. The scent of burnt food was strong but not overpowering and he looked over the pan he wasn't sure would survive the terrible burning. "I am aware," he answered smoothly, dropping the disposable bowls in the trash. Kurama enjoyed the feeling of Yusuke's eyes roaming over him and reveled in it for several seconds before turning his attention on the other teen.
Using his height to his advantage, Kurama rested his arms over the other's shoulders and leaned in for a soft kiss that didn't last nearly long enough. "You did not need to go through such trials for me, Yusuke. I am quite happy as it is." The smile he gave Yusuke was warm before he leaned in for another, longer kiss that they could melt into together. Soft suction and gentle nips, playful flicks of the tongue and long laving laps.
EDDE:
Yusuke blinked a bit as the redhead moved to loom over him slightly. A smile softened his features as lips pressed to his, not changing through what he'd had to say this time as he got over his need to deny how much work he'd out into this since it had all been revealed.
"Yea well, I said I would." He offered the explanation as those lips came at him again, falling into their offer and playing back happily as his hands landed on the taller boy's hips and tugged then into a secure grip. The way he'd said it was as if it should be obvious.
As stated, he'd said would. He'd even bragged about how awesome the meal was going to be when he'd been so sure he could handle the cooking. What would it say about him if he hadn't at least tried? Of course, his stubborn nature had him trying probably past the point that it made sense anymore, but that was just how he was.
He needed more practice, but that wasn't something to think about right now. Right now, he was focused on how close Kurama was, and on returning light nips and suckles. He pressed further, niggling his tongue pay the fox's lips and offering that attention to the roof of his mouth that he liked so much.
Fox:
Emerald eyes slid shut as Kurama tilted his head to mold their lips together, breathing through his nose to avoid breaking their very lovely kiss. "Mnha," the tickling of Yusuke's tongue pulled it from his slightly parted lips. His hips shifted forward into the hold, the warmth of the detective's palms easily seeped through his tight jeans. He'd be regretting them soon, he was sure.
The redhead stepped closer, pressing them flush together with a happy sigh. With great reluctance Shuichi pulled back with the hopes of something much better. "Shall I leave a trail of rose petals?" The tease was light, but the offer was genuine. The sweet aroma would mask the lingering scent of potpourri.
EDDE:
He was enjoying the closeness of their kiss, more so as Shuichi moved closer, a warm noise passing through him at the change. He blinked once up at the other as he pulled away from his lips, a soft chuckle on his own. "That's what it's supposed to be, right?"
It took a bit of effort pull his attention away, but his eyes slid toward the hall. "Next time," he offered lightly. "I'll have a better idea of what I'm doing, hm?" It was still a little odd to feel so complaisant, but he'd noticed before the fox had such an effect on him already.
