Ah yes, you all were very young when it happened. Very well, I will tell you the tale.
A long time ago, us Witches lived in harmony with the other humans in a distant land known as the Unix Region. However, one day, their Emperors and Kings decreed our powers illegal, and we were banished from civilization. We continued to live our lives in the forests and woods, until one day, disaster struck.
A great evil loomed over our lands, terrorizing the humans who discarded us. We believed that their problems were theirs, until the children of these people ventured into our territories, begging for us to help. Taking pity on the young ones who were not as stubborn or discriminative as their forefathers, we decided to aid them. Many of our strongest witches ventured into battle. They ordered some of the other elders, myself included, to take the young ones to the original homelands of the Witches where we will live and prosper away from danger - the Archipelago of Giants. It wasn't a decision I liked, but I had to, to ensure our survival.
When we arrived, be it by sea or sky, we divided ourselves based on the energies that these islands emitted to make us stronger - strong enough to have the edge against any threat that may come to us. These islands were the Sandstorm Island, Blizzard Island, Metal Ore Island, Thunderbolt Island, and of course - Dragon's Maw Island, where we stand now.
Those who came to Dragon's Maw Island did not expect it to already be inhabited by people with an affinity for Dragon-type Pokemon. They were known by many names, but called themselves the Vikings, due to them constantly sailing out. Over here on Dragon's Maw Island, the Vikings live with dragons Pokemon, and the young ones even train alongside them in the Academy.
Around them, we make sure to blend in by taking the forms of Pokemon - perhaps wild, perhaps a pet.
Either way, this is our life on Dragon's Maw island now.

Hello all, welcome to Pokemon Witch Saga: Dragons & Giants!
A good warning: This will contain Scarlet & Violet Pokemon. Avoid if you want to avoid ruining any experience you want. Obviously, we won't have story spoilers for those.
This roleplay is about Witches, Vikings, Crusaders and Pokemon. And all that. I guess.
Terminology & Types of Characters
In their original lands, Unix, the populace began to call them Witches and it stuck. There was a time in Unix when Witches were celebrated, until they weren't. Apparently, in the Giant Archipelago, Witches were formerly known as Berserkers, as the first Witches wore the skins of Pokemon to transform into them. In fact, the Vikings use the term Berserker over Witch when telling tales about them.
Witches have the ability to turn to and from Pokemon. To do that, they will require a catalyst in the form of a part of the Pokemon, its equipment or something, said to contain the Pokemon's energy or even spirit. Of course, they need more than that, like proper training, focus, etc, but we'll get to that when we get to that. Those who have descended from prior Witches will have an easier time learning the arts, but one of a more diluted bloodline or no Witch lineage at all will take longer, but it's not impossible.
Regarding catalysts:
If a Witch has used it to transform enough times (by default, all starting Transformations are this), they can transform into that form without the catalyst, with the drawback of the Pokemon form being more feral and instinctive due to the lack of catalyst to properly anchor the energies to the body. This feral, instinctive nature can be trained and tamed.
All in all, Catalysts are required to attain Transformations, but are not neccessary to keep them.
Witches can use weaker versions of their Pokemon form's moves in their human forms, and can even partially sprout or morph traits of their Pokemon forms to do so. More experienced witches can tap into the shrinking capabilities of Pokemon to alter their size in human form, but only between the sizes of their human forms and Pokemon forms. Some witches do this to appear to be tiny little fairies.
When Witches fully transform, their catalyst merges with them and their clothes do not adapt, which is why most witches prefer to wear temporary clothing or no clothing at all, or wear the skins that are to be used as catalysts.
While there are some side effects of becoming more Pokemon-like in behaviour by transforming into one too often, most witches do not see it as one due to their oneness with nature. It is likely that generations of witches passing on their traits have allowed them to adapt to this side effect to some extent, making their human side and Pokemon side more in harmony.
Witches can potentially gain more than one Pokemon form. However, due to them being synchronized to one already, to gain a second one, this second Pokemon needs to share a type with the first, a third must share at least one type with the other two, so on.
By default, Witches live for 300 years, still looking relatively youthful in the 100s. They can potentially live longer if their Pokemon forms have that capability. A witch is considered an elder at 100 years.
Witches are mostly female, with males being rare to the point where a term for them hasn't been coined yet.

They are seafarers, but this particular group has settled on Dragon's Maw Island. Apparently, they used to not be fond of dragon Pokemon, until a hero taught them that they could live in harmony with them as friends, so they did.
A good group of people sent by the Emperor of Unix. Their current mission is to rid of the Witches, as it is believed that they are behind the evil that looms over their now destroyed lands. They travel by sea, in an attempt to find them.
Aesthetics-wise, they resemble knights, Paladins and whatnot.
Apparently they have spies on Dragon's Maw Island who have found out that witches of the Dragon-type live there, so they will be prepared for that.

Allowed & Disallowed Pokemon
You must be wondering what's allowed or not - at least at the start, anyways. This refers to what you can start with. You might be able to acquire some of these later.
Legendaries & Mythicals - Nope.
Ultra Beasts - Will be limited. Ask before claiming one.
Paradox Pokemon - No.
'Modern' Pokemon - Pokemon that appear to be modern & manmade in nature. If there is evidence that these Pokemon have lived for eons, such as Magnemite line living since the Kalos War or the Voltorb line existing in folktale and legends of the past (granted this applies to the wooden Hisui form, so use that), then by all means. Koffing is allowed since it seems to thrive in volcanoes but its buddy Grimer who relies on modern pollution to survive is not, the obvious ones like Porygon line, Castform, etc are out. Just ask to check first.
Fossil Pokemon - Still debating. As Witch Transformations, they're allowed.
Everything Else - Should be fine.

Witch, Viking or Crusader?
Appearance:
In case the picture is insufficient.

History:
Say some things.
Pokemon Transformations:
Only applies for Witches, see template below and insert here however many times appropriate. While less experienced or younger Witches will only be allowed one transformation to start with, older Witches can have two or three, as long as any one transformation shares at least one type with another.
If you have both Transformations & a Team, you can only start with up to 4 Pokemon between both.
Pokemon Team:
While everyone's allowed to have one, it's reccommended that Witches have a smaller one or even no team at all, since they can already turn into Pokemon. Also I'm gating this to three Pokemon maximum. I'll allow more with justification e.g. they're a housepet that mostly stays at home, they're the equivalent of your sheepdog, etc. Again, see template below and insert here however many times appropriate.
