"I'm sorry, Rika." Selene didn't have much of a choice. If Rika was giving up, she only had a small window of time to cast the demon out. She knew it would hurt horribly but it was her only hope. Taking the knife that the demon tried to stab her with earlier, she cut one of her fingers then drew a rune on her sister's forehead even as the demon tried to snap at her multiple times. She said the incantation that would cast the demon out and the body screamed and thrashed as the demon tried to fight the spell. But it was too weak for Selene's powers and it was expelled from Rika's body.

Selene turned to her sister but found that she was not breathing. Panicked, she stood from the bed and found her way to Shido's room, appearing where she was the night that she tried to kill Shido. She sees Summer there and grabs her arm, "I need your help now." In a whisper, the two were gone. Summer nearly dropped the book in surprise but somehow managed to keep her grasp on it. When they reappeared in Rika's room, Summer gasped in surprise. "What did you do?"

"I cast the demon out and this happened. You have to keep her alive. I know you can. You still have your Summer Court powers."

"I can keep her alive but unless you find a way to get her out of there, I can only do so much." Summer sighed and leaned forward, opening Rika's mouth to breathe life into her. Rika's chest rose and fell, able to breathe temporarily.

"Just do what you can." Selene sighed then saw the book near Summer's feet. She picked it up and began frantically flipping through the pages but saw that most of the spells had faded which meant that Shido didn't have much of her powers left. She dropped the book and looked at Summer. She had known that Summer Fae had the ability to heal but it was beyond them to raise people from the grave especially because they saw this as such a Dark ability.

Getting an idea, she told Summer, "Keep her alive. I have to talk to Shido." Selene left the room and headed back to Shido's room, bursting through the door angrily. "She's going to die if I don't ask you for help."

Rika's body thrashed about as the demon came out of her mouth, a shroud of darkness up into the air before dissipating away. However, just like that... her body became pale and soon her bodily functions began to fail one by one. Shido watched as suddenly Selene appeared, took Summer before they both warped out. He sighed as he continued to do his work, not really knowing what the situation with Rika was. they were bothering him, and he wasn't sure whether he should just put himself in a place where they couldn't find him, so that they would have to figure things out on their own. Just as he was thinking this though, it was Selene whom burst through the door again, seemingly quite angry as she shouted at him.

However, this was only further frustrating him. He didn't even bother to look back at her as he continued to write and compose the letters he needed to get done. "You should really quiet down you know, people might think you're assaulting me again and you wouldn't be of much help to Rika if you were locked down in the basement again now would you?" He asked her as he spoke slowly and calmly. After all, he hadn't figured out that the after affects of his spell were colliding so much with how Selene chose to handle Rika, especially with expelling the demon so quickly and mercilessly.

"Rika's going to die? Well, I didn't cast anything that might have that happen to her, and I'm not sure how you want me to help Selene. I don't have any of your powers anymore, nor am I really much for counterspells anyway. If she dies, it'll be upon you." He told her as he seemed intent on staying where he was. Maybe he didn't realize how dire the situtation was, or perhaps it was the fact that they had come to him one too many times. But whatever the case may be, it didn't look as if he was going to go with Selene unless she did it without his permission.

Selene felt like tearing her hair out by the roots. "I'd rather have them think I'm trying to kill you again so I can die with my sister." She scowled at him. "I'll do anything to have my sister back even if I have to have sex with you to do so. You can take my powers again. I'll give them to you permanently if that is what you want. There is a catch in that, however. One that I do not like nor would you." Bearing the dark king's heir was something Selene truly did not want to do. But if that meant Rika would live, she'd do it.

Summer was growing tired quick. If she kept reviving Rika, she'd lose all her manna and she'd be too tired to do anything before Selene gets back with Shido.

"I believe you're assuming things Selene. There are few things I wouldn't like for eternally having powers such as yours. I'm guessing that permanent power either entails my marriage to you... or your pregnancy is not untrue?" He asked as he stood up, finally enjoying hearing somewhat of a fair deal come out of her mouth. "Bring me to Rika, if she's really that in trouble, you're going to tell me what I can do for her, since I don't much know many counter-spells or that of the sort." He told her as he walked over to her and waited for her to warp them to where Rika was.

He didn't bother to mention that no matter what happened to Rika, Selene would continue to stay alive, even if it were against her will. No, there was no need to bother Selene or piss her off now. She had really cornered herself this time, and he was ready to take advantage of a girl whom would do absolutely anything for a sister whom she herself had killed. After all... if this had all happened, he had put Rika's soul in a cage. So while she could not answer or speak with them... she'd still understand what was going on, and what events would transpire for her to get to such a dire situtation.

Selene sighed, realizing why she hated being in the Winter Castle all through the years. Dealing with monarchs was such a painful thing to do especially every day. She walked forward and touched Shido's arms, whisking them away back to Rika's room where Summer was tiring from trying to keep Rika alive. She looked at the two of them as Rika's breathing remained shallow. "I can't do it any longer. If you keep fighting, Rika's going to die." She looked really tired.

Selene was still scowling as she looked at Rika's quickly deteriorating body. She moved over and touched her sister's forehead, looking at Shido. Rika's skin felt cold to the touch and Selene knew they were getting very close to the end. If Shido did not do anything, her sister would be lost forever. "This is what you did. Now, undo what you did. You can decide on what you want for exchange." This was as close to begging as Selene would get. Selene was not used to begging for what she wanted, usually demanding got her what she wanted since she's never met someone who was a match for her magical skills.

Shido watched as it became more and more clear what was going on. She had removed the demon inside Rika forcefully, but Rika's soul was still trapped, and could not re-enter her body. He watched as it seemed Summer couldn't really do much anymore, but that also got him thinking a little. He watched Rika before he moved and patted her on the cheek, feeling how cold she had become, before he moved to Summer and pulled her aside. "That's enough, save your energy." He told her as now Summer would stop breathing life into Rika.

He whispered to her now, as he wondered whether she was still savable. "Summer... can you perform a revival spell, if I help you? I understand that some Summer's know it, but it's been forbidden. Since you're in my court, is it possible for you to perform?" He asked as he knew that soon Selene would either be crying or attempt in some way to do something crazy. Or, maybe she'd eavesdrop and see that he hadn't given up just yet.

Selene stayed by her sister's side, clutching Rika's hand tightly, not even bothering with Summer and Shido as Rika's breath slowed considerably.

Summer looked at Shido, wanting to say no. Revival spells were forbidden as a Summer elf no matter what land you go to. Raising the dead wasn't the issue. It was what happened to the person. If the person had asked, it would have been fine. But Rika was in no position to decide whether she wanted to reborn with all her memories stripped from her. But Summer wanted to help. Rika was a good person and Selene looked like she was going to break down any moment.

"If I do it, Rika's not going to be the same person. Every memory would be stripped. She wouldn't even remember who Selene is. I think with her bloodline, she can regain her skills but her memory would be lost forever. Doing that if the person does not wish it is unethical." Summer's hesitation was evident in her eyes. "Is there no other way for you to get her back?"

"Well... that's going to be up to Selene though. Prepare the spell and we shall ask her sister." He told her before he walked away as he looked over to Selene. "She's going to die no matter what I do... but Summer and I can revive her. However, she's going to be stripped of all her memories, and there's no telling whether she wants to be brought back from the dead in any case. If you want we could ask her in the afterlife, or we can perform it now." He told Selene, wondering what she thought of it. Personally, despite that it would take a longer time, and that it might produce more complications, he would first ask consent of Rika.

After all, she could not want to be revived, especially given that she'd be fought over in any case. This way she was given a peaceful death, and she'd want to go to the afterlife easily. However, he was going to place the final decision in the hands of Selene in any case, since she was the one begging him to save Rika. If Selene wanted to take the responsibility of reviving Rika without her permission, he'd do as she wished.

"Wait..." Summer touched Shido's hand. "There's another reason why we don't do it. It's usually a life for a life. For Summer elves, we've learned that we can exchange trees for our lives instead of taking another Summer elf's life. If we really can't find anything, we use prisoners. So unless you have winter elves in your dungeons, I'm not sure if a tree would work for Rika."

Selene heard what Summer had said and she stood up and moved from Rika's quickly deteriorating body. She held out her hand a slight mist formed in front of Summer and Shido. Minutes later, the mist reformed and a winter elf stood in front of them, tied up and frightened. "Mistress?" She then looked over at Rika and gasped. "Mistress Rika!" Now that Selene and Rika were stuck in the dark court, there would be no use for their servant in their home.

"Do you have all that you need?" Selene spoke, staring Shido in the eye.

He watched as Selene suddenly summoned up a winter elf, tied up as she clearly knew who Rika was. However, this was not at all how he planned it. So, a life was required? He moved outwards and sent a guards to the dungeons to fetch a murderer, before he whispered to Summer again. "It does not need to be a winter elf does it? I'm sure you can sacrifice a warrior for a warrior." He told her before he watched and knew they were running out of time. The chained up murderer was brought in, a bag over his head as he was forced to kneel down in front of the bed.

"Come, we must start it before her soul is totally lost from this world." He announced before he pushed Summer towards the bed. He was not willing to sacrifice an innocent for Rika's life, at least not when he had plenty of those whom have killed without just cause. This one had ravaged a Winter Elven village, so it was just as well that he sacrifice his life to help a Winter elf. Hopefully, doing this wouldn't be too much more dangerous as he moved behind Summer and placed his hands on her shoulders as he began to slowly channel his dark energy into her, slowly so that she would be able to use it and it would not grip her with any negative side effects like he had done with Selene and Rika.

"It might work." Summer shrugged her shoulders. "But I would have preferred another winter elf. But I guess... if there truly is no one else." She eyed the winter elf that Selene had brought in and decided that an innocent life truly was not worth killing even for Rika. "I guess a dark elf would have to do."

Selene rolled her eyes then sent their servant away in a gust of cold wind. She turned back to her sister who was taking her last few breaths. "Do what has to be done. I do not care about the consequences." She spoke as she sat down next to her sister, fighting back tears as Rika took her last breath. She kissed her sister's cheek then walked away, leaving room for Summer to do her work.

Summer walked over and pulled off the bag that covered the man's face. Similar to what she did with Rika, she leaned in close but instead of breathing life into the murderer's lips, she inhaled, taking as much life force as she could. The spell, Summer repeated over and over in her head, was one that did not be said out loud to work. As she inhaled, the man could not move. His only movement came when Summer had taken all of his life force and he clutched his throat, toppling over.

Summer held her breath then walked towards Rika, opening her mouth as she blew into her mouth, giving the dark elf's life force to Rika. When she was done, she whispered a simple closing ritual spell and stepped back as she waited for Rika to come back to life.

He stopped flowing the magic into her once she was finished with the spell, and had closed it all off and stepped back. He whispered to her and kissed her on the cheek. "Well, you're going to have to remind me to watch out the next time I kiss you hmm?" He told her before he ordered the guard to take the prisoner away and to inform Selene that the spell had been complete. He looked over to Rika before he could tell that he had now lost a member of his court. No, Rika will have been reborn now back as a Winter elf, where her bloodline held strong. He walked over to the door as he spoke over to Selene.

"Your sister has been revived... and now you must keep your end of the deal. Release that which makes you barren, and tonight we shall begin our time together." He told her as he allowed her inside of course... but also waited for her to cast the spell in order to make herself ripe again. He didn't expect her to please him everyday, however... the more he could get power, the better it would become. Shido walked back over to Rika now, awaiting her to awake such that he could assess the damage.

"You've never kissed me." Summer pointed out then moved out of the room. She was tired from using up all her energy to keep Rika alive and to revive her. She went to her room and went to bed, feeling quite exhausted. She lay in bed for quite a while thinking of what Shido had said to Selene. Had Selene promised Shido to give him an heir in exchange for Rika's life? And Shido actually wanted it. She wondered if it was possible that Shido thought that Selene was the one to be his bride. After all, it seemed most prudent to have such a powerful wife.

Summer sat up suddenly, surprised that she was suddenly jealous of Selene. She didn't know when her fear of the dark king had turned to admiration but somewhere along the line it happened. And now, she had to find a way to make him see that she was the right bride for him. After all, part of her belonged to this court.

Selene entered the room and looked at Rika who was now breathing steadily but still appeared to be asleep. She cast the necessary spell and she lifted her belly to show him the mark on her waist that prevented her from getting pregnant was gone. When she was alone once more, she'd cast another spell but not one that would make her barren but one that would make it difficult for her to get pregnant. It was the only way she thought she could delay it from happening to buy her enough time to get out of the situation. It would go unnoticed but the more powerful Shido becomes, the easily he'll be able to detect the spell so she must hurry.

Selene's thoughts were interrupted as Rika's eyes blinked open. They were ice blue again and she shifted, sitting up to look at the two people who were in this room with her. She looked at a nearby mirror and touched her face, seeing her silver hair and pale features. The woman in the room looked like her. But the man... he wasn't a winter elf. That she was sure of. "Where am I? Who are you?"

He watched as she left, and mentioned that he hadn't kissed her yet. She was right, and perhaps he had been leaving her out of this while process. She was somewhat special to him, so he couldn't just do with her as he pleased. Really, she would most likely be the best to get along with him in the long run, with their connections and all, but she didn't seem to have too much to offer in power. And with all of his hands full with all of the winter elves, and their problems... well, perhaps he'd visit her on the off days he didn't spend getting the most out of Selene.

Shido thought about walking in order to speak with Summer, but as the thought crossed his mind, he heard Rika's voice as he moved over to her and sat down on the bed in which she had been placed. "Well well, seems you're awake again Rika. You're in the Dark Elven court... you died, and I brought you back to life, with the help of a Summer elf. I am the King of the Dark Elves, Shido... Do you know who she is at least?" He asked as he pointed to Selene. however, it was already quite clear to him that she had no recognition of her sister either. Well, they were finally on a level playing field. Rika, although she was a winter elf now held no bias. And he knew that this would be a beginning of a little feud between the two. He had no real intentions of bringing back her memories, although... perhaps he could get Selene to play into his hands and become entrapped in becoming forceful and mean to Rika in order to get her way.

The pressure was all on Selene now. She was running against the clock from becoming pregnant, and lso was totally alone now without Big Sis Rika there to help her, or even offer her advice. Now it was just her and the dark king, and while she had the powers and the brains to overcome the obstacles... did she have the time and the resolve to stay calm and under control?

Rika had listened to what Shido had said but stared at Selene the entire time. The woman looked extremely tired but she was looking back at her with a spark of hope in her eyes that soon died down when she answered, "No." She turned to Shido again. "I don't understand. How did I die? Why did you bring me back?" She looked from Shido to Selene and back to Shido, utterly confused.

"I'm your sister, Rika." Selene shuffled close to the bed, standing close to it but not close enough to stand next to Shido who she still despised. "You died and I asked him to bring you back." She said, wanting to make sure Rika knew that she wanted her alive and had gone to great lengths to get it done. But Rika still seemed confused, not understanding what was happening and most especially why they were in the Dark Court when they were Winter Elves. It only seemed proper for Winter elves to stay where they were supposed to.

"I don't understand. Why are we here?" She looked at Shido. He was the Dark King but if he had wanted her dead, she wouldn't have brought her back to life. She trusted him. She trusted Selene as well but mostly due to the fact that they were sisters and she was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

He chuckled as Rika asked as to why she was here. It seemed she didn't like the fact that she was brought back to life, something that he had of course... addressed to Selene already. However, perhaps he could show a little of his good side to her, even though it wasn't really much at all. "You're in the Dark Court because I want you as my bride. In fact, I kidnapped you from the winter courts because your Queen would not permit such a thing, and then I defeated you in a duel to win over your allegiance. Your sister here was sent by her Queen to kill me and get you back. You saved me, and in turn your sister was captured. I cast a little spell on you, and when your sister was let free, she attempted to free you from the spell, and that is what killed you. Despite my own wishes to ask you in the afterlife whether you wished to come back, your sister took it upon herself to make that decision for you."

He decided that was a good enough summary of what went on. Although it most likely would hurt her brain to think about it too hard, and the fact that he had twisted the story a little...It was mostly the truth. Of course, Selene would have her own chance to fill her heads with her own little propaganda, but it seemed that with a clear mind and another perspective... Rika was trusting in him, and at least didn't automatically throw herself in her sister's arms.

Rika tried to process everything Shido had said. On one hand, Shido had kidnapped her and made her swear allegiance to him and possibly even put her against her own sister to protect his life. On the other, Selene had sacrificed her own safety to get her back and tried to free her from Shido's spell but messed up and now brought her back to life. She was alive but Rika didn't really think not remembering anything was coming back to life. She would have not wished this for herself even if she was dying. Confused and tired, she looked at the two of them. "I would like to rest for a moment. I will try to sort my thoughts out."

"Of course," Selene spoke up, looking at her sister. "You must be really tired after the ordeal you just went through. I'll stay with you and make sure you're alright."

"No, no..." Rika shook her head. "You must go too. This is too much for me to take in."

Hurt, Selene stood and nodded her head. "If that's what you want..." She turned her back and went out of the door but stayed by it, just in case Rika needed anything.

Shido watched as she decided to move both of them out of her room as he decided not to make such a decision so easy on her. "Well, if you do not allow your sister to stay in the room, she will be placed back in the dungeon, and no special privileges will be given to her if she's down there. She'll be received as nothing more than a prisoner." He told her as he looked over to Selene, wondering how she might react to him saying that. Sure, he was giving her a little bit of an edge, but he was also hoping she might string a bad nerve with her sister. A risk-reward, he didn't want her in the dungeon where he couldn't monitor her, and plus with the two in the same room, he felt things would be more simple to manage. However, Selene would be called out to his room over the next few nights... as she now owed him for what he had done for her.

"Selene, remember to bring her for her meals when it is time." He told her before he moved to leave the room. He knew he was being unfair paying more attention to these two girls, but... well, they required more attention than Summer. Both were more risky, and since now only Summer was the one tied to his court and unable to leave... they'd require even more supervision.

"I'm not going anywhere if that's what you're so worried about." Selene frowned up at Shido. "I'm going to stay here until I can take my sister home... or at least send her home." She bit her bottom lip as she thought of bearing Shido's heir. If she did get pregnant, she swore that she would not leave her child in the Dark Court and still raise her as a descendant of the Neigeux clan.

~*~

The night came and Selene knew that Shido might call her into his chambers to start the process. Rika was still resting but Selene had brought food up for her in case she woke up and was hungry. She ate dinner quietly then promptly left, returning by her sister's door in case Rika needed anything. Summer, on the other hand, spent most of the dinner chatting amiably with the noble who sat next to her. It was true that the Dark Fey liked Summer more than either of the sisters because of her Dark blood and her father's connection to the Dark Court.

Before Shido could call for Selene, Summer appeared at his door, her hand hesitated briefly from knocking on it and she spent a long time considering how she should approach Shido with her request. She was going to ask for him to remove the collar and in exchange, she would promise that she would not try to leave the Dark Court. She intended to show Shido her loyalty, hoping to show him that he should not really count him out when it comes to the game.
