About the leaving Florida situation; yeeeeeikes, yeah...sadly, Florida is a very bad place to be these days, maybe it always was. 
It's sad but unsurprising to hear from someone who's been there that all the stories I've heard about the political lunacy going on down in Florida is not exaggerated. It's become the dumping ground of the worst sorts of white supremacists and anti-public nutcases. That anyone would actually literally openly shout the words "Go back to X!", in this day and age...this country really hasn't moved past its roots.
It is good that you are getting out of an environment like that it is good that you are ABLE to get out of an environment like that. May you find somewhere to live that you can feel welcomed and belonging...
