Katsuki absentmindedly combed his fingers through his boyfriend's hair, pushing it back and out of his face. "Yeah, I told you it'd look better with it out of your face," he grinned, gently curling his fingers at the roots like he did when he was tugging on his hair while fucking his brains out.

He rested a calloused hand on the nape of his boyfriend's neck and squeezed it affectionately.

"Anyways," he mumbled, looking towards the fireplace that looked nice to curl next to, and enjoy some drinks. It looked like Iida was passing out some small goodie bags too. "Gonna catch you losers later," he said to Kiri and Kami, giving them a flippant wave with two fingers.

They ended up next to the fire with
some of the others, Shoto sitting on the mantel and Katsuki on the floor between his legs. He had one arm affectionately draped over his boyfriends chest while they talked with their classmates, mostly about things they were going to do over break, or how their finals had gone. They shared drinks and passed around snacks and played a few games and he was warm, happy, and a little buzzed.

"My course change got approved today, by the way," Shoto mentioned to Katsuki, but there was enough people around it wasn't exactly a private comment.

"Course change?" Iida asked. "You aren't going to be a pro hero?"

"No," Shoto corrected. "I am, I just switched to the Sidekick plan. Sir Nighteyes, actually."

"To work with Kacchan," Midoriya realized, but he hadn't said it to Todoroki so much as Bakugo, and he was giving him that look he did when he was thinking too hard about something.

"Damn," Sero whistled. "They'll make a kick ass team."

Katsuki leaned against Shoto and it was pretty blissful. He surprisingly didn't shout or yell at anybody but Mineta that whole evening and he hadn't even drunken so much that he could say the good mood was due to the alcohol, either. He was genuinely having a good time, not just with Shoto but... with everybody else, too. He kept his hand on Shoto's thigh, stroking him to feel grounded there, as if Shoto was a security blanket to remind him that it was okay to have fun.

When the subject of pro heroes came up, Katsuki had been tossing caramel popcorn in Kirishima's mouth across the room, his body having sunken down so much his head was leaning into Shoto's stomach now.

"Fuck yeah we are," he grinned.

"Why doesn't Todoroki-kun just work with you as a pro hero, then?" Uraraka asked.

"Because, Cheeks, then he can't be with me all the time," Katsuki blurted out without thinking, and only when it dawned on him how sappy that was, he amended. "I need a good sidekick."

Shoto ran his fingers through Katsuki's hair when he basically said he wanted them together always. The movement was half agreement and half comfort, for both of them. The physical contact seemed to be reminding Shoto himself that he was safe, and it was okay to share pieces of him with his friends.

"But ... you're one of the top five in our class, up there with these two," Momo said. It was the first time she'd spoken to him all party, and he had a feeling the only reason she was in their group at all was because Jiro was. "Are you sure that's what you want? To not be number one?"

Shoto nodded slowly.

"You've been thinking about this for awhile, haven't you?" Midoriya asked. "You don't really want to be at the top."

"Maybe he's just not top material," Mineta said, the heavy on the euphemism. "You sure you don't just want to be a housewife, Todoroki?"

"Watch it," he growled, and it was the first time in a long time he'd spat his words like he was spitting fire.

Katsuki moved his head around, turning towards whoever was talking like he was watching a ping-pong tournament. In the middle of the conversation, he couldn't help but feel a little like an asshole, like maybe he'd forced Shoto into abandoning his ambitions or something.

Shoto definitely had what it took to be a pro hero. He didn't even need a sidekick or any kind of support to shine, so he knew what a sacrifice that must have been for him to step down to be Bakugo's.

When Mineta spoke, too, he sat up so quickly he almost got whiplash. "What did you say, you punk?!" he growled. "He'll be a better hero than you'll ever be, you bottom scum! Say that again, I'll wipe the floor with your face!" He was so heated that Kirishima and Sero actually had to take each arm to yank him back so he didn't full-on assault him.

Everyone moved when Bakugo did, some just tensing for a fight, others in motion. It was Kaminari who pushed Mineta off, snapping, "Yeah, go away you freak, no one asked you to come over here!" while his friends kept Bakugo from committing a crime.

Mineta left grumbling something about no one taking a joke and Shoto sat with his eyes closed for a moment, calming down his own anger. It'd been so long since he'd been anything but calm that he almost forgot what it was like to be so irritated. He pushed himself off mantel and ran a hand up Katsuki's tense back. "It's okay," he said, softly. "I'm okay."

When Katsuki was pissed off, he rarely came down without venting it in some unhealthy way. That was why all eyes were on him now as he stood there seething and huffing like some maddened bull. It only took Shoto's comforting hand on his back for the tension to bleed out of his shoulders, and everyone looked on as they witnessed Shoto actually deflate Katsuki's temper like some wet balloon.

He grumbled. "Anyone else got something smart to say?" he muttered at their circle of friends who shook their heads.

"Honestly, I'm glad you scared him away, Bakugo-kun, I was starting to get creeped out," Momo said.

When his friends, too used to his violent outbursts, went back to what they were doing, he pressed a quick kiss to Shoto's forehead. "Are you really? I'll fucking punt him out the window if you're not."

The kiss to his forehead eased whatever irritation Shoto was still harboring, and he nodded as he stepped closer to his boyfriend. Their friends had taken the news of their relationship so well that he hadn't expected a comment like that to hit so close to home, but the fact that no one else said anything helped.

It wasn't that he cared what Mineta thought, because he didn't. There was just something about the way he'd said it. "I mean, I wouldn't stop you. But I'm fine."

Maybe, part of him worried his father was going to say something similar.

Katsuki knew he didn't need to coddle his boyfriend. Shoto knew how strong he was, how he could and had topped nearly everyone in their high school class. But that didn't change how overprotective Katsuki was about him sometimes. Scratch that, all the time.

"Just enjoy the night," he said, squeezing Shoto's arms. It felt weird coming from him. "It's Christmas." Well, in a few days it would be, but the atmosphere that their friends had made here made it feel like it was.

Shoto nodded, and after a quick kiss he pushed his worries from his mind and rejoined his friend group. After awhile he passed out his presents, to Kirishima who grinned and placed his shark plushie on his head for the rest of the night, wearing it around like a hat. And Mina, who squealed and hugged him tightly (he awkwardly stood there for a moment before eventually hugging her back and wiping her lipstick off his cheek after she kissed him there), and Midoriya who thanked him with bright eyes before running off to his dorm to find a safe place for it.

He hadn't told anyone he was getting gifts, so he hadn't expected any in return, but Mina presented him with one and he sat on the rec room couch as he opened it. It was a photo of him and Katsuki, taken on campus. They were just walking, Katsuki's arm thrown around his shoulders, likely in the middle of saying something, his grin wide and sharp. Shoto was looking up at him, his own smile small but eyes bright. He'd never seen himself look so ... happy.

He squeezed Mina's hand. "Thank you."

She smiled and ruffled his hair. "You're welcome, 'Roki."

What was most surprising for Katsuki was that people actually bothered to give him presents his year round. He'd gathered a few from Kaminari, Kirishima, and even Midoriya, and by the end of that exchange his arms were full of presents that he didn't know what to do with.

He wandered over to Shoto in time for him to peek at the photo over his shoulder and kissed the nape of his neck with a stupid little grin.

"Here," he said, passing over to Shoto a crudely wrapped present that he'd honestly tried to gift-wrap before he got frustrated and just slapped a bow on it. It was a simple white scarf, fluffy and knitted, with a red 'S' knitted into one end. "Merry Christmas, or whatever," he murmured.

Shoto almost jumped when he felt someone behind him, but he was so used to Katsuki that he relaxed into the kiss pressed to the nape of his neck. He leaned back on the couch to look up at him and smiled softly, but then blinked at the present being handed to him.

He set his gift from Mina aside before taking the mess of wrapping, not commenting on it and still peeling it open carefully so he didn't accidentally mess up whatever was inside.

He smiled again once he revealed it, pulling the scarf out to its full length and running his fingers over it before tracing the S knitted at the end. He wrapped it around his neck despite the warmth in the room, up to his nose where he nuzzled into the fluff.

After a moment he jumped up, taking his presents with him back to their dorm, and when he returned it was with a gift in red shiny paper, so perfectly wrapped that it could have been a professional job. He pushed it into his boyfriends hands with a blush peeking out from his scarf, even though he knew Katsuki would like the PS5 inside.

Katsuki blinked a few times as if his brain couldn't compute how adorable Shoto looked in his new scarf. He knew he'd bought it but something about it just made it look like the scarf had been made to sit on Shoto like that. He smiled awkwardly, almost like he was nervous of being caught.

And when his boyfriend returned with a weighted gift, Katsuki got excited, tearing through the glossy wrapping like a beast to uncover what was inside. "Holy shit!" he barked loud enough to attract everyone's attention. "You got me a PS5?!"

Kirishima and Kaminari flocked to him, yelling about how they were coming over to play games.

He still couldn't believe that it was real and hugged it to his chest like a little boy, then kissed Shoto silly, all in front of their friends. It had to be the alcohol making him so... elated. "Fuck, I love you," he whispered under his breath as they parted.

"All that work you spent wrapping it," Mina said, watching Bakugo rip into his gift. She'd helped Todoroki buy it and wrap it, so she'd been excited to watch it get opened, but Shoto just shrugged. He didn't mind the paper getting destroyed - in fact, he was glad Katsuki was so excited.

"Told you he'd love it," he told his friend, and she grinned at him before he was suddenly swept into his boyfriends arms. He wasn't sure if it was the kiss or the alcohol that made his mind all fuzzy, but his smile was back as they parted.

"I love you too," he said softly, then a little louder, "I got you the old Grand Theft Autos because they were selling them used, but any other games are on you, babe." It'd already been a pricy present - not that he minded - but what use was a gaming system without anything to play?

Katsuki grinned even wider. Grand Theft Auto was definitely up his alley because what did Katsuki enjoy if not some simulated chaos? His friends seemed to be just as excited to play with him, or at least watch him play, since a PS5 was so far out of a college student's budget that they could only dream of playing it.

"This was fucking expensive, wasn't it?" he asked. "Thanks, babe. You mind if the losers come over to play it?" He jerked a thumb over to Kaminari and Kirishima. He didn't know when the hell he'd started asking for permission to do things. Maybe this was what it felt like to be whipped.

Shoto shrugged at the question and answered it the same way Katsuki had when he'd asked how much their beds had cost: "Don't worry about it."

He turned his gaze to Kirishima and Kaminari and stayed silent long enough that they glanced at each other before Kaminari hit his knees and started begging, and Kirishima took the shark plushie off his head and put it under his chin instead while he turned on the puppy-dog eyes.

Finally, he stopped torturing them and shook his head. "Of course I don't mind." He was glad Katsuki was getting closer to his friends. It felt good for them.

Kaminari and Kirishima raced off towards their dormitory while placing bets on who'd get there fast, and before Bakugo took off, he stopped to walk behind with Shoto, grinning from ear-to-ear. "Man, I can't believe you got me a PS5," he chuckled.

He lifted his brows when a thought crossed his mind. "Should probably clean up all the toys and stuff lying around," he grinned, seeing Kirishima and Kaminari waiting for them to open the door. He definitely got a kick out of Shoto getting embarrassed about it. "Like your collar in the restroom... the vibrator next to our bed..."

Shoto hadn't thought about the mess in their room until Katsuki brought it up, and then he stopped walking all together. They weren't sloppy for the most part - there wasn't enough room to be. But they had a tendency to leave their sex stuff out because they were too exhausted after to clean up.

He was red again, the scarf still hiding most of his blush, when he kept walking and narrowed his eyes at the two boys. "Stay," he ordered, opening their door only enough to slide in behind it.

He gathered everything up quickly, storing it in their unused bedroom and closing the door soundly before he let the guys in.

"What's up with Todoroki?" Kirishima looked puzzled when Shoto made a big show of sliding inside first.

Katsuki had his arms crossed over his PS5 and looked pretty smug. "He's hiding all of our sex toys," he grinned. The three snickered about it when Shoto slipped out of the room after cleaning up the crime scene. As the boys lunged in like children, Katsuki handed Kirishima the console to set-up since he couldn't be bothered with that part.

"You want some alone time, give me a nudge and I'll kick them out," he told Shoto. "Are you gonna watch?"

Shoto nodded and said, "I'll watch." Before he kissed his boyfriend on the cheek and left the boys to set up while he went to change into his pajamas, wearing a shirt for once and keeping his scarf over his shoulders.

He came back with the games he'd had hidden away. The boys had made themselves comfortable on the edge of the hastily made futons and Shoto sat on the floor in front of Katsuki, with his bag of Christmas snacks to watch. There were only two controllers, but he wasn't worried about it, they'd figure it out.

When Shoto sat in front of him, Katsuki pulled his boyfriend into his arms, winding his arms around to hold his controller. This felt normal. It felt... nice, to be accepted by the people he called his friends, to know they wouldn't judge him just for being with Shoto.

The three got into it, Kirishima and Kaminari taking turns on the one controller since GTA was a single-player game.

"These futons are nice," Kirishima grinned. "It definitely matches the aesthetic Todoroki was going for in high school." Kaminari had brought some spiked eggnog and beer halfway in and they were drinking again, the yelling getting louder the more competitive the three got.

He was ... comfortable. More comfortable than he'd ever really been in his life, especially outside of their dorm room. He liked having other people in there, having noise and drinks and friends. He remembered too easily a time when something like this hadn't even seemed possible.

He watched them play and made comments and kicked Kaminari off the futons one time when he made a big deal about seducing a sex worker into a car and howled like madman when it started rocking.

He hadn't even noticed how well the futons matched his own aesthetic until Kirishima pointed it out, and he leaned his head back to steal a kiss, smiling softly. "Having a good time?"

Katsuki was far too immersed in the game, having a little too much fun punching random people on the streets and yanking them out of their cars to go on chaotic joy rides. Kirishima made a comment that the blond was definitely not cut out for hero work with that kind of mindset.

The blond grinned, kissing his boyfriend upside-down on the lips when Shoto tilted his head up. "Hell yeah," he said. "Might have a hard time getting me off this thing now." Not to mention the boys would be over quite often during winter break if they were staying the short period.

"Are you?" he asked, kissing Shoto on the tip of his nose.

Shoto's nose crinkled when Katsuki kissed it, and he nodded. He was having a really good time.

"I'm pretty sure I can think of ways to get you off it," he murmured, and only when Kaminari wolf whistled did he realize he'd still said it loud enough to be overheard. He blushed slightly, but he wasn't wrong - he had a feeling if he dropped to his knees, he could get Katsuki to put the controller down.

"Just put a sock on the door if we aren't allowed over," Kirishima joked. "That's what the rest of us do."

"Shut up," Katsuki snorted. He would have to use that trick to get people to leave them alone when he was breeding the hell out of Shoto.

When he started to feel a little drunk, Katsuki passed over the controller to Kaminari and wound both arms snugly around Shoto, burying his face into the crook of his neck and just breathing in his boyfriend's comforting scent to ground him.

"You tired?" he mumbled in his deep voice by the shell of Shoto's ear.
