"Hey hey hey there cutie," Clara said and leaned in to hug Brighid as she seemed to get upset by the mild confrontation regarding her strange behaviour that morning.
"It's alright. I've heard stranger things but ... y'know ... as crazy as it sounds it does seem like a logical explanation somehow. I mean ... the way you've been acting all morning is like the whole world, including your body, is completely new to you."
Clara let go of Brighid and sat back and focused on her breakfast for a few seconds.
"That's not to say I believe you though because it does sound crazy as fuck. However I don't think you should be on your own today so instead of getting off at the next stop I'll go with you to the zoo and be that little voice in your head reminding you of what reality you're in and how things work here. Ok?"
Clara re-focused on her breakfast and wagged her tail casually against the empty seat next to her.
"And also because I'm not really sure you'd actually call me tomorrow if I just gave you my number."

There was a cute yelp as Clara suddenly pulled her one-night-stand into a hug. "How could there be stranger things? The series aside, did not even manage the first episode." the redhead mumbled away as Clara let her go again. Of course it is hard to deny how she was handling her clothes this morning and at least she did state that she was not really believing this nonsense.

"That kind of voice would be quite welcome. If I can thank you somehow later for your time... please tell me." Brighid kept her voice low to not attract more attention than needed and while she was busy with her food, she could not stop herself watching that slightly wagging tail but was looking back up. "Well... might be... but only because, with some luck, I would not be 'me' anymore and the original 'me' would not know the number and things. This is so messed up... sorry." Brighid leaned back in her own seat only to be startled shortly after. "Oh... almost there... I mean, the station after the one coming up right now. I am so nervous..."

"Oh there are all kinds of strange things in the world, aliens, ghosts, sea monsters, the electoral system, ..."
Clara's list went on for rather a long time before she seamlessly changed topic to talk about the television series Brighid had mentioned which she offered to watch with Brighid so she could help her get into the story, if Brighid wanted to of course after the day was done.

Two stations later Clara took Brighid's hand and led her out of the train and up the escalator to street level. From there it was just a short walk to the Staten Island Zoo.
"Now if they ask, just tell them I'm your girlfriend and you had promised me a picnic so I'm tagging along until you've done what you're supposed," Clara said and wagged her tail slowly back and forth almost seductively.

Brighid listened on and it was easing her mind a bit that Clara was listing all kind of things, even some funny ones. "Uh... yeah... watching it would be fun but honestly, I hope I will make it back to my place before we have time for something like that." she skipped the mention that it would be a bit of a waste to skip out on getting to know someone like her a bit better. In some strange and alien way, the furred girl was rather interesting.

Of course, the redhead did not really need someone holding her hand and show her the way but the feeling was giving her a bit of security. She even nodded along at the idea of calling her a girlfriend, maybe adding to show her the place she would be working at in addition to a picnic might work wonders, but she really hoped no one would ask about her. All the while, her green eyes followed the tail but before she got hypnotized by it she pulled herself away and approached the entrance, hoping that employees would go through there as well and see how people would react to Clara following her.

As the pair arrived at main entrance to The Staten Island Zoo the male panther behind the counter looked curiously at Brighid.
"Flora is waiting for you at the staff entrance but I'll call and tell her you are here. It is quite a mess by now," he said and picked up the phone to make the call.
While he talked his eyes kept darting to the pair noticing that they were still holding hands as if one was leading the other rather than any romantic reasons. He raised his eyebrows and smiled at Clara and winked at Brighid as if to let her know that whoever the other girl was she was cute.

It took maybe five minutes before a tall Lynx arrived in a small vehicle not unlike a gold cart.
"Why didn't you use the staff entrance?" she asked and looked rather annoyed.
This didn't change much when she noticed Clara still holding Brighid's hand.
"And who's this?" she asked in a tone of voice that clearly indicated that she was not going to let Clara come along unless she was some kind of specialist Brighid had brought along.

Brighid gave the panther a shy smile "Ah yes, I thought it better this way." she said, no need to tell him anything else. Definitely looking a bit nervous, she was waiting with Clara, looking around until finally the car arrived. The poor redhead flinched as the lynx was scolding her. Nevertheless she stepped over to Flora, still holding Clara's hand to make clear she wanted to take her along.

"Why? Because of her. I did not want to sneak her in since she is no employee. That would not be right after all." her look turned over to Clara, giving her a bit of a smile even though she was needing her for support to calm her own nervousness. "And I need her help with Jane." Brighid added quickly. There was no need to tell Flora that Brighid herself was needing any emotional support she could get.
