Ren could hear the men talking and laughing around her, but she couldn’t care less, she felt amazing, more so than she had ever felt before in her whole life. Closing her eyes, she simply sat and enjoyed her bliss.
It felt like Nana had been stuck all over with needles, unable to move, unable to breathe. Her body ached with both cold and pain, skin feeling raw in some places, throbbing with each heartbeat. She hadn’t come to the beach with good intentions that day, but as the waves battered her around, she could hardly remember what they even were, or why they would be so important to do so. Another hard impact and she was slammed back against the sharp rocks behind her, feeling them scrape against her skin and tear at her clothes. She didn’t scream, didn’t thrash in the water, only floated motionless in the rough waves at the base of a cliff, waiting for her death to come as she was slammed once more against the rocks. The saltwater was painful in the scrapes, a clear sign she was still alive. “Ah... this is taking too long..” She has barely noticed that water had already filled her mouth and throat, staring blankly ahead as a dark shape in the water slowly moved closer. “Of course this is how I’m going to die... eaten by a shark..” She closed her eyes, resigning herself to her fate.
