Moon Slave...[In More Than One Way]

She clung to him, giggling as he carried her down the hall and out of her parents' room. She heard his words and kissed him back with heat as they entered her room. She was pushed back against the wall and she did not resist in the least, in fact leaning into him as she moved her hands to tangle in his hair. But soon he pulled back and she blinked at him a moment before he spoke. She blushed a little but kept eye-contact. She smiled shyly.

"We can get married within the next two weeks. It's a tradition amongst my family to get married during the crescent moon. If you hadn't noticed all of them by now."

She snickered a little, blushing a tad bit more.

He smiled softly, kissing her deeply and holding her close to him. "I guess we have less than two weeks to have the Vampire and Lycans make peace, then. because I want both at our wedding. It will help with making blood ties, and later, conception." He gently nipped her lip before looking outside, knowing what time it was from the position of the moon. "It's time to get going." He said softly.

"Unless you want to try for five weeks?"

She added helpfully. Or at least she hoped it was helpful to him. The thought of trying to unite the two bloodlines sounded about as fun as getting her teeth cleaned and pulled. She nodded at him as he spoke about having to leave to go meet with the council. She heard the bustling of her household as she guided outside and downstairs. Bran was waiting them and he flushed with pride rather than embarrassment. He remembered how her mother looked in that outfit the only time she wore it and it brought tears to his eyes. But he was silent about his inner yearnings.

"My lord, my lady, the car awaits outside."

He opened the doors and led them to the car, the driver holding the door open for the both of them. She turned to Bran and hugged him as she whispered she would return and that everything would be okay and that they would all be okay. Bran waved them off along with the rest of her household as she slipped inside the vehicle with Alex. The driver shut the door as they moved onto their destination.

He followed her outside, and instantly found a dislike for Bran. He didn't like anyone that gave her looks like that, never the less anyone close to her. But he would sit there and take it for now. He entered the car with her and cuddled up to her as they took off.

"You don't like him."

It wasn't a question but a statement as the drove down the only road that led to the manor. It would take awhile to get the council meeting place, but they wouldn't be late. She turned to Alex as she laced their fingers together. It wasn't hard to tell that he was displeased.

"He isn't after me, Alex. He's been with my family since my father and mother were children. He's my grandfather, in a way."

He nodded slowly as he heard her words, his fingers lacing together with hers. He brought her hand up and kissed the back gently before moving it to rest on his lap. "I am completely fine with him, love."

She sighed lightly as she stared at him, shivering at the contact of his lips against her skin. She gave him a lazy smile as they turned a corner. She just continued to smile at him.

"It's okay if you don't like him."

The woods and trees started to dissipate the closer they got to the clearing that the council members used. But it was still a ways away. She rested her head on Alex's shoulder as she closed her eyes and breathed in his scent.

He turned his head and kissed her lightly, cuddling up against her. "I will behave for you." He said softly, closing his eyes. "Just for you, I will do anything. I will go to the ends of the earth."

"To Hell and back, beloved...there's no place I wouldn't go for you."

She snuggled closer to his body as the car continued to move at a leisurely pace. The trees were practically gone now, just a strip of road as the moon rose higher in the sky, almost reaching its zenith. The drive seemed to continue on forever until the car came to a stop within a ring of trees. She lifted her head as the driver turned off the car and opened her door, escorting her out onto the soft, tough grass. He waited for Alex to exit before he spoke.

"The council will be arriving within the next five minutes. I will wait here for you to return."

She smiled at him and he sat back in the car as she twined her fingers with Alex's once more.

He heard those words as he stepped out of the car. His fingers wrapped with hers, and he let her lead the way. "Let's get this done. I cannot wait to be home with you again, love."

She stepped lightly with him, his words caressing her skin as she smiled. They entered the center of the clearing, which bore a large rock with several ledges dented into it. She sensed quickly that other wolves were entering, drawn by both her scent, power, and the call of the council. They were the alphas of the surrounding packs with a representative of their choice. They snarled at Alex before they school their features. They were to witness only. The rock before them soon filled with men of all ages, totaling in thirteen. The leader of the council was a handsome man who looked no older than Alex, but looks were deceiving. His yellow-gold eyes focused on the vampire before turning to look at her.

"Amaris...a vampire in our midst. Why?"

The rest of the wolves went silent at his words, the power of the Marrok strong and commanding. But Amaris was able to strand against it, especially with Alex beside her. She did not relinquish her grip, nor did she offer any explanation as to why he was here as of yet. She bowed her head in the slightest before she looked back up at him.

"Samuel, it's been quite a long time. This is Alexander. He belongs to me which is why he is here."

Some of the more temperamental wolves growled and she silenced them with a simple look. Silence reigned again as Samuel thought over her use of words.

He watched the Lycans come in around him, taking places in the room. Had this been even a week before, he would have gone into a blood fury and killed them all. But he kept himself calm. He heard the question from what looked like their leader, and Amaris' response. Thinking silence from him the best course of action for the moment, he decided to take a seat, moving himself to a sitting position as he picked his feet up, floating in the air Indian-style. He kept his senses flared open, ready to defend the two of them if need be.

The council members watched Alex very carefully, taking in every feature, listening to every sound he made. Amaris was used to such scrutiny and she did not flinch when the wolves scanned her outfit, lingering a little too long. One of the elder council members shifted his gaze between the two of them as he crossed his legs. He had seen this sort of display before with her parents. He recognized the clothing and he chuckled to himself. Samuel's lips curved up in a light smile as he looked back at the old wolf.

"Charles, you are amused. Whatever for?"

The one identified as Charles closed his eyes with a light grin as he looked up at Amaris, his green eyes flashing in the moonlight. However, his words for Alex.

"Wolves are rather territorial and protective of the females within their territory. Especially the unmated ones with the stronger bloodlines. But do not get me wrong, they are not just for breeding."

He looked over at Alex, eyes unwavering.

"You know that as well as I do, Alexander. I thought I recognized you, a strong being in your own right. So tell me...how is it that someone such as yourself, notorious for hating our kind, is now mated to one."

Amaris didn't flinch or show any surprise, but the other wolves did, including Samuel. He wasn't as calm in nature as his brother, but he usually held his temper. Not now, though. He moved swiftly, grabbing Amaris's arm as he shoved her hair away from her neck. The Mark stared him in the face and he kept the growl that was building in his throat at bay. He spoke, his voice calm despite his demeanor as he looked between Alex and Amaris.

"Consensual?"

It was all he needed to ask. Amaris simply looked at him, a light smile curving her lips. She didn't try to remove Samuel's hand from her arm. He wasn't hurting her in the least.

"It was."

He heard the words that were angled towards him, and his head snapped towards the male. "If you have to ask, then I will tell you another time. I am in no mood for stories at the moment." His eyes went back around the room, and he saw that Samuel moved forward and pulled her top down slightly before grabbing her arm. He was quick, moving forward and grabbing Samuel's wrist tight, pulling it away.

"If you value your life, you will not touch her like that again." He said in a low, dangerous voice. A hatred for this man instantly flared up, wanting to rend him for even thinking about touching his mate in such a forceful way.

Samuel looked at the vampire touching him and pulled his lips back in a sneer but he did not move. At least the vampire had one thing right. He looked at Amaris, the howling and growls of the witnessing wolves mere echoes. It was difficult to believe she had chosen a vampire over a wolf. He had seen her grow up, having courted her in her younger years before he found his own mate, Ashling. He looked between Alex and Amaris a moment before he took a deep breath and looked at the vampire.

"You will unhand me. I shall not touch her again."

Amaris brushed her hair back, showing off her mark for everyone to see, even if the way she had planned it to go had gone rather badly. She lightly touched Alex's hand and cheek. She smiled lightly at him, her voice very soft.

"Alex, release him. He meant no harm. Werewolves have tempers, bad tempers, but he would never hurt me."

She turned to Samuel, her calm spreading over the other werewolves. They were still growling, but it was softer now and less maddening. She looked to Charles and sighed lightly. The other wolves of the council remained passive. Charles and Samuel had the heaviest influences in this whole thing. She gave her old friend a smile.

"Alex is my mated partner. We belong to one another, despite our races, or perhaps, because of that difference. Either way, I am no longer available for mating rights. And no, Charles, I am not sorry in the least."

The old man winked at her with a chuckle. Samuel looked at her with a sigh. He waited for the backlash of the assembled wolves. He wasn't disappointed.

His eyes were narrowed, and his teeth bared in his own snarl at Samuel, but at Amaris' words, he let him go, taking a half step back to be next to her. His eyes slowly went around the room. "Me and Amaris come with word of a idea we came up with. Both of our species are dying out. We run without mates because we are losing the feeling of it, we cannot find those we are suppose to be with.

"What if that was because we shun those that are our other halves?" He looked around, slowly circling to look every one of them in the eyes. "We have already proven that the differences of Lycans and Vampires are vague and few at the most. We both are being of the darkness! What makes us say that we cannot live together?"

One of the Alphas from the next territory over stepped from the circle and crossed his arms. He appeared to be hardly older than seventeen at best, but he was fierce as well as loyal. Amaris had known him for awhile, and sighed lightly as he spoke up.

"Pretty words, vampire. But only so much can be accomplished with words. I would call your idea completely bonkers if Amaris didn't believe it herself. I don't object to your theory because we are a dying breed, same as your own. It's taken too long to adapt for it to make a difference with either race. Plus, the humans hunt us. But what made you come up with this theory?"

Amaris noticed some of the other wolves had taken up curious expressions, relaxing their stances. But it was the council she was worrying about. Too few of them seemed to be considering Alex's words. Charles and Samuel chose to remain silent, poker faces in place. But she knew they were thinking about it. She didn't show fear or doubt as she looked up to Alex, knowing that what the council wanted was to hear Alex's testimony.

"What makes me come up with this theory?" He repeated, his face set, slightly dark but his voice was alive like it has never been before. "I have my own reasons." His hand went up to the top of his shirt. He unbuttoned a few buttons before tugging part of it to the side, revealing the mark that was on his collar, the same one that was on Amaris. "This was definitely one of the first clues to my theory." He started, letting his shirt fall back into place, two of the sunburst arms still showing a bit.

He took a step forward to look him deeper in the eye, though it was clear he was watching everyone in the room. "Vampires have been doing much more than just sucking blood for all these centuries. We have been working in genetics, and as I am sure some of you know, I was far in the loop with that. We have taken lycan blood from some of the dead, and what was found was so shocking to my kind that we silenced it completely.

he looked around the room, teeth bared slightly to emphasize the importance of what he was about to say. "Except for the lack of some heme parts in the Vampire blood - something that we think we have figured out, almost - Lycan and Vampire blood is exactly the same." He waited a moment to let that sink in. Then he decided to let out the final of his weapons.

He turned to Amaris, pulling her closer to him, fingers on one hand lacing with hers. "And Amaris has conceived. If Lycans and Vampires were so different, they wouldn't be able to conceive at all. Vampires have a problem with conceiving at all, but we had no problems with it."

Whoever in the group saw the mark had to concede to that point. Even some of the more stern and conservative council members. Rafe, the wolf he had spoken up, seemed rather pleased with himself. All eyes were on Alex now, and the others were more interested in what he had to say rather than tearing his throat open. He looked up at Alex when he stepped near, keeping eye contact. He wasn't exactly shocked with the findings of the vampires, since he had been working with one named Carmen, who was a geneticist and rather attractive. He looked briefly between Amaris and Alex and found that what the two were claiming could very well be true. He knew of several vampires who found sanctuary in Wolfy mates, his twin sister included. He sighed lightly as he watched Alex move away and speak about Amaris being with child. Almost every male in the room bore the same expression: Dropped jaw, or shock. Few looked with outrage, but it was clear that no blood would be shed. At least, Rafe hoped so.

Amaris had been silent, making eye contact with several wolves she knew personally, some she didn't know, but still she looked at them. They were listening, even if they didn't want to hear what Alex had to say. She had known about the medical research, helping with the funding on the werewolves side. But they hadn't made it that far with the gene sequencing and such. The vampires were a step ahead of them. She smiled lightly as Alex walked over to her and pulled her close, lacing their fingers together. She heard his words and blinked in slight shock of her own at what he implied. She was...pregnant? She hadn't even thought she was, just that her stomach had been upset because of the council meeting and the potential of losing Alex. She looked down at her stomach and rested her hand over the flat planes. There was a chorus of shocked voices, the council members exchanging words in loud whispers. But Amaris could have cared less. She looked up at Alex, her expression questioning.

"You are sure?"

She kept her voice soft and low, only wanting him to hear even with them surrounded by wolves. She heard one wolf claim that the whole thing was an outrage and that the child was an abomination. He was easily silenced, knocked unconscious by a heavy blow from Rafe. He smiled at the two of them like a school boy as he laced his fingers behind his head. He looked at the couple and then the council members.

"So when should we schedule the wedding?"

He was ignoring the sounds of shock and some outrage from a member, pulling Amaris close to him and nuzzling his lips against her neck. he lifted them up to her ear and whispered. "Completely sure. Few know that I have the gift of far seek. I saw our child, I already told you that. That wasn't any dream. That was a vision. you are with our son, love."

He turned away from her to address the Lycan council. "I am not sure for when the wedding will be. I still have to talk to my side of this. Even if there is cooperation of the Lycans, the Vampires might be slightly darker with it. I want some at the wedding, though. We will see if that helps the bloodlines, as well."

She sighed as he nuzzled her neck, feeling tears forming in her eyes from joy, but she held them back; she could cry later. She wrapped her arms about him in an embrace for a brief moment before she pulled back when he moved to address the council. She saw Rafe grinning at her and she couldn't help but smile back. The council members were still looking at Alex, before a few of them nodded and then turned to each other to discuss the matter further. Samuel and Charles rose to stand near Amaris and her mate. She smiled at them and was soon locked in a double embrace by the brothers. She laughed softly until they released her.

"No doubt. We can smell it. You sly dog, you."

Amaris laughed at Samuel and then looked at Charles, her expression gentling. Charles had lost his mate at a very young age and it had been a long time since. She wondered if he would find another mate, perhaps a vampire, but it was a stretch. He no longer bore his Mark, so he was done with mourning her loss. Still, she hoped he could find happiness with someone. Charles knew what she was thinking and he smiled a little, considering what he saw in her expression before he and Samuel joined the other members. She looked up at Alex, lacing their fingers again.

"And now we wait."

He watched Amaris get hugged by the two of them, heard her share some words with them, but his mind was elsewhere. he was formulating plans, ideas. Ways to win the Vampires to his cause. To the saving of their race. But he felt amaris pull close to him soon, and his arms went around her, holding her close to him. Time to wait for the judgement here. They needed a victory with them.

Amaris rested her head against Alex's chest a moment, just breathing in his scent. There were a few wolves who obviously didn't like this whole arrangement and would get their revenge later. They wouldn't live another day if they tried to openly attack them with the council present. The council debated for a long time, but not too long. It took them roughly an hour to debate with each other, some voices heating up in argument before cooling back down into whispers. Samuel, as head of the council, had full control as to whether or not to approve the full council's decision. And as being the Marrok, alpha of all alphas, his word was law. The young wolf soon stepped from the group of men who had gone silent as he stepped up to Alex and Amaris. His face looked grim before he gave a boyish smile.

"You have our blessing and we back you. However, if the vampires can agree to show us their findings, we'll be able to better control the masses. Some of the council are unconvinced but will concede to you if a neutral meeting can be set up and the research explained. Just be warned, some here do not wish you well and may try to attack you, even with my word that you are to be left alone."

He looked around at the other wolves, raising his voice even if he didn't need to. They could all hear him fine from where he stood, but he needed them to feel the power in his words.

"Amaris and her mated partner are not to be touched. If I find that any of you has caused her, her unborn child, and Alex any harm, you will not be exiled. You will be eliminated."

With that, Samuel turned, the meeting drawing to an end. The council dispersed, some greeting the two of them, others just giving stern nods. The wolves returned to their territories. Rafe remained behind to chat with the two of them a moment longer.

"My sister is mated to a vampire. She's quite happy with him. I'm sure you will keep her happy, ya? She's like a sister to me."

He listened to the words that came from Samuel. He heard the words that a attack might come, and he steeled himself. Nothing would get through him. He was sure of it. But they had their blessing. That was all they needed. Now, for the Vampires.

When everyone started to leave, he turned to Amaris, giving her a light but long, loving kiss, holding her body to his. But Rafe came towards them, and he heard his words. Alex tuned his head to look at him with a small smile. "I will always take care of her. If you think otherwise, you have a lot to learn about Vampires."

"I suppose I do. My brother-in-law never talks."

Rafe said with a chuckle as he waved and then left the two alone. Amaris sighed after her wonderful kiss, having returned it with just as much love. She pressed against his body, feeling that familiar low burn in her stomach. Since the meeting was over, her mind had begun to wander elsewhere. She placed a kiss to Alex's cheek before she spoke.

"Lets go home, love."

She smiled lightly at him as she led him back to the car. The driver opened the door for them and then closed it once they were inside. After that the car would start up and they were head back towards the mansion, Amaris curled up against Alex's side as she relaxed.
