She had to swallow the desirous whine that threatened to tear from her throat.
"I find it brave...not many are willing to change their destinies, let alone to one that allows them to help others.."
She laughed softly and shook her head, "I'm sorry, that isn't my intention.." They stayed and talked for a little while before she finally went home. She was not ashamed, she eased the ache Ike unintentionally gave her, wishing it was him who eased her need.
This continued for a while, Ike giving his usual powerful sermons, offering Bryn more helpful advice in Confession, just trying to make sure everything was alright.
Eventually, when she came to sermon, she would be anxious again. But not because of the people glaring at her. Oh, no. He recognized this kind of fear. This was the kind when you were afraid to turn your back for too long, every movement made her skin crawl and your nerves jumpy. What was going on?
"A-Ah..." She pulled at the cover she wore, as if the tighter she wore it, it would make her less visible, "You remember how I said I left the brothel I worked at...? I've been noticing some of the muscle men there have been in the same areas I'm in...I once saw them outside my home..."
"What..? Bryn, that's terrible.." he said. "Well.. no matter how bad the man is, surely they'd respect a church.. how about you stay here for a night or two..?" He offered.
She would have hugged him if she could, but she didn't want to tempt him by getting too close to him. Could she even hug a priest anyway? No, probably not. It would be a conflict of interest.
"Thank you so much..."
