Young Gods ( Cyrano x Daleeria)

" I had lunch with Cesar on Wednesday. He brought along J.R. and I brought Ty and we had a whole tete-a-tete. He's gonna give Chico turf in the New Mecca Projects. figure that whole shit show will keep him busy and too occupied to stir shit up." The New Mecca Projects were a housing projects that had been built up in the last year or two in the west side of La Libertad, replacing some of the old rundown buildings and abandoned industrial buildings out that way with a new housing project. The place had earned its name because most of the new immigrants who took advantage of the affordable housing were Muslim, some African-American, some were from Asia. Apparently, some dude named Khalid had gathered a lot of the local guys and formed a gang just for keeping Los Vagos from dealing to the people living in the projects. That way it would be a reward for what he had done in Denne, but also a way to keep him cutting his teeth.

"He and Xolotl sold a fuckton of H up the coast, so Cesar needs to give him some kind of reward that will also keep him out of trouble. NMP is the part of La Libertad farthest from up, so it should keep him and Bela out of our hair for the time being." Jax said as she sat down and passed him his beer. One of the things that he was looking forward to the most from the party tomorrow, besides having all of the people together, was the salsa that he knew Marisol was making and was going to bring. That woman made the best salsa Jax had ever tasted he swore, and Ty was spoiled for getting it all to himself. Parties were what 13th Street women did best and they all knew how to contribute.

"Maybe but it's not really for her at this point, it's for us, and you know what they say, go big or go home." He said looking around at the house that looked the exact opposite of a gang kingpin's home with every as pincess-y as possible. Thinking about all of the issues related to the business had him getting his mind off of things that might keep him down, and thanks to the beer it wasn't even happening in a stressful way. Though it did remind him of other things that they needed to talk about, or atleast that he needed to tell her about.

"Two more pieces of business I need to run by you. First off, T's coming, which has reminded me that we need to redo the porch and add in a fucking ramp somewhere in this house. The man lost his legs for the Regs and now his son has to carry him into my house. That's fucked up. So next month my project is gonna be the porch." T Freeman was Tyrone's dad, and OG who had taken a bullet to the spine and had been in a wheel chair for almost twenty years now. One of the ways that Tyrone had become so responsible was by taking care of his dad. "The other thing is that Theo's gonna be stopping by at the party, you know do the godfather thing." Jax added casually, one of the things that Jax would give the Di Capri's credit for was that they took their honor and obligations seriously, since Jax's godfather had gone to prison behind doing work for them now Boss Al took over the duties that Gayle could not pick up from up the coast.

Scarlet still didn't like the thought of Bela and Chico in the saddle together. A few months back she and Jax had run into an old school mate of Bela and Scar's, and one of Chico's extra baby mamas, Luisa. Now, Luisa might have been a part of Bela's circle, but she was one of the few who didn't participate or even approve of Bela's abuse of Scar's body. While initially Scar had hesitated to trust her, after a few drinks and a long conversation they decided they could carry a loose friendship, if only for the gossip on Bela. "Plus, I give it exactly 40 weeks after the day he gets out and she pops out another kid..." Scar remarked as she took another swig.

At his remark that the party wasn't really for Izzy. "I can think of at least one Uncle that will fight you on that. She's going to be the center of everyone's attention and we all know Daddy is going to be first in that line," Scar couldn't help but grin at her man, knowing that while Jax would be focused on socializing and the party, there'd be nothing standing in his way if Izzy demanded his attention. Even the other party goers knew that the Spawn of Scarlet was to be obeyed on her special day. "Besides, that's what I meant about having to outdo myself every year now. The kid doesn't care as long as she's got toys, attention and cake. Everyone else holds the fucking expectations on me."

Not that it frustrated her or anything to that affect. It was another fact of their life, the life she chose the moment she didn't turn tail and run when he went to jail and Jaide failed to stay whole. Everyone looked at Scar as a sign of loyalty and strength. And that meant hiding more secrets than most, and not letting a soul see her cracks in her heart.

Ah, the house and its completion was a nice subject of distraction from other things. There was still a bit to go, and they were getting farther ahead. "Get me the list of things you'll need and I can price everything and get you a figure, start getting things ordered. We've been meaning to tackle that for a bit, I feel bad we haven't done it sooner. I got the rest of the money for the kitchen together in the savings account right now. I made a little extra from royalties than expected from a couple of the lesbian things I did that have really taken off this month... Been thinking about getting one of those double ovens. Figured it'd be better for parties, and holidays."

She hadn't discussed it with him yet because up until his fight and her own extra break it hadn't been in the plan or the budget. "By this time next month kitchen and porch will be finished."

The Queen smiled at Jax. "It'll be good to see Theo. Seems like he's been pretty busy lately. We haven't had a chance for you to catch me up on all the business with the party and my work. Thanks for all you've been doing sticking to the house with the kids... I really appreciate it and I know Izzy's a big fan of extra time with you," there was nothing hotter than a good man and a good father in her world, and while her mate had his flaws the red headed porn star couldn't have asked for a better man.

The good thing about a 13th Street party was that Scarlet wasn't feeding half the criminal world by herself; everyone showed up with something whether it was food or liquor. Everyone had their signature dishes that men literally waged gang wars over for Dasia it was her salsa... Kate made killer jello shots that could knock even the biggest man down, not to mention Scar couldn't even come close to replicating the matriarch's potato salad. Scar herself was known for her 'skill with meat' on the grill at this point. She had even made Jax buy her a new grill at the start of the summer as an excuse to cook outside as often as possible.

"At least we'll have a good turn out. Please try to keep business related things until after Izzy crashes into a sugar coma, if possible. Blah blah blah, the whole spiel," Scarlet asked of him, though she seemed to do it more out of habit than any real concern about business being handled mid party, her pretty blue eyes resting on his handsome face with a softly teasing grin. Then she thought about the thing she had been thinking about for a while, something she had also said no to for a long time. "Hey I wanted to bring something up to you to see how you felt about it. We're doing good. Money is stabilizing, so are we as a family. Business is good... I was thinking about going on birth control. We've been pretty lucky all these years. And I've been told it's pretty easy to get pregnant after quitting breastfeeding, and I'm not quite ready for another infant. Thoughts?"

Jax emptied the neck of the beer he was drinking, as if to admit she was correct that he would be the first in line for the Izzy love fest that would be tomorrow. The former trap house was going to handle almost two hundred people tomorrow, which wouldn't exactly be the maximum that they'd filled in it at any one time, but it was certainly going to be a stress test on a lot of the repairs and updates they'd been doing. He'd made it clear that there wasn't going to be any of the usual fucking in the guest rooms that went down at parties like this, this was going to be a community even that would fill their drive way, backyard and house, but it wasn't going to be a rager. Especially with all the kids running around. Still he expected to find out about more than a few hook-ups that happened anyway.

Which was why he had made sure that the mattresses that were on the floor in the three spare bedrooms were clean and new. Making two of the newer Regs move and carry heavy mattresses up the steps and set them up. Because that was something he had the power to do now. And it was the newer ones who were likely to show up and fuck around. Which was one of the reasons why tomorrow wasn't a holiday for everyone from 13th Street, if a crew wasn't earning enough to take a day off, and weren't putting up the effort needed for Jax or Ty to let them be a day or two late on what they needed to kick up, then they still needed to find some way to earn tomorrow. Usually by sending one member to the party to show respect before needing to dip and get back to the corner. Nicky had told him that one of the psychology professors at HCU had been talking to him about possibly coming down to 13th Street and studying the way they did things. Jax had told Nicky that he would think about it.

"Tomorrow's a business holiday babe. Whole Street knows, they wanna start shit, they start it on Monday, because tomorrow's Izzy's birthday and no one is breaking the Sunday Truce. It's older than Gayle's Peace. " Jax knew that Scarlet knew all this, she had been given a crash course in Haven City history and the way the Street worked in her first two months living in the Jackson house. By this point in time she knew all of the history and rules, and what the Street meant, just as well as any native to it did. Jax had also made sure that the bouncers working the club tomorrow night were all guys who either wouldn't be at the party anyway or weren't gang members at all. This managing and being in charge of shit thing was sure coming natural to him. Though her question was certainly a curveball.

Fortunately she had waited until he had swallowed his last swig of beer before dropping that bomb on him. For the majority of the time that Jax had known Scar she had been catechistically opposed to birth control. Literally. Then she had just been opposed to it and not liked it. He had heard all of the reasons for why she shouldn't be on it come out of her mouth and now she was asking him for his thoughts on her getting on birthcontrol. He took another swig of beer and wished he could smoke at the table, he would probably need it for this conversation. But they had been serious with each other about no smoking in the house except in their room when she got pregnant.

"Didn't you used to always say how BC would fuck with your hormones and shit, make you like different things or have you go crazy or shit? If you're worried I could always just pull out or something." They both knew that his pull out game was shit, almost deliberately so. And that 'or something' probably meant more nights where he would be coming back smelling like some other slut's perfume. Though there had been less of them than usual since their date night. Only two this month so far. Which either meant that he was getting it during the day, or that he was actually being as faithful as he could be.

Scar knew more than Jax probably realized. Always intrigued by history class, she had gone out of her way, after months of stories from Joan, Kate and others, to dig into just how deeply the blood flowed down 13th Street. She knew the last name Ramage was just as feared and respected as some of the bigger names in Haven City. She knew Jax's parents had a violent- if not entertaining at least- history starting from Kate's young age of seventeen. She knew every crime, every struggle, because she had listened to and chronicled anything that wasn't necessarily going to land anyone alive in jail. There were four boxes of stuff labeled 'High School' that were passed off as old school reports and really was just filled with papers, books and a crap ton of pictures.

"You and I both know I'll make it like... A week and then it'll be back to where we are now if you just don't fuck me at all. And your pull out game is... Meh, at best: not complaining. You know how I feel about you pumping your load into me!" Scar grinned at him with a wink before emptying her beer. For a few moments she didn't say anything before looking down at the table. "It was just a thought anyways. I'm not even sure if I'd do it but... There are options that don't include me remembering a pill or any of that hormonal bullshit I was worried about. And it took me this long to get pregnant in the first place so I'm not even sure if it's worth worrying about. I just... "

Scar frowned for a moment and shook her head, about to get real and deep for a moment before deciding she didn't want to weigh him down with any more problems, especially her own insecurities. He had far more important things to stress about without a needy bitch trying to get much needed comfort out of him. "You know what, never mind. Stupid conversation. Want to smoke? We're done decorating and I still haven't heard the baby monitor go off so we probably got another 30 minutes of peace at the very least."

Scar got up from the table to grab herself another beer and choke her emotions down. Humor was how they fought the serious, heavy shit; "Though if I do get pregnant again, will you please sign off on Joan's script for this epic pregnancy porno she's got planned for me? We're talking more than I normally make in a year, I could double that if I can fit two in. Screw what your mom says; I can't wait for the MILF royalties, especially after like two or three kids? My tits are gonna be huuuuge~~~!"

Most people looking at the Street from the outside would think it was a heartless thing with no soul. Purely motivated by the hustle, the grift, and the lust for pieces of dead trees with dead white guys on them. Sure, from the outside looking in that might be a reasonable judgement, and sure there were crews that did run their corners like that. But, if you looked deeper at the people running successful corners that lasted more than a year or two you saw that they were the ones that had heart. That had something that rooted them to the community and the world. 91'er's had the Black Panther legacy and the memory of what Haven City had done to Freeport. Los Vagos had Chicanismo to frame themselves as fighting back against a system that made them criminal. Regulators had that too, only sometimes it hadn't been so easy to tell. You pull together people with all different color skins, different backgrounds, only common denominators being place and time then you needed something that brought them all together while allowing them to look past their differences.

On 13th Street, lesson number one was 'blood is thicker than water.' Not in the new sense that meant that family was more important than the people actually watching your back, but in the original meaning. Family was the people who shed blood with you, not the people who could trace their lineage back to the same gash or ball sack. Regulators were built on the blood, their code written in blood, because from the beginning the decision to stand together despite past loyalties and disagreements meant that if they were going to stand together, they needed to be committed to dying together as well. Of the guys that Jon and John had recruited to help them start this thing, over half of them had been part of another gang who wanted to come for their blood for leaving. The OG's had made them reconsider the wisdom of that line of thinking.

These were the thoughts on Jax's mind as he beat his alarm to the punch by at least an hour, resting his head on a soft pair of DD's. A couple of beers, some bud, and the best tricks of a professional lover still hadn't been able to remove all of the weight that the crown had on his head. His sleeping had been restless, fitful, and his dreams had been visited by the boys who had died in the squabbles that had popped up because other crews had wanted to test his mettle and see if he flinched. He had also been visited by the faces of the men he'd killed. Nine of them total in only four years. There were no illusions that they wouldn't be increasing in number as the years came on. That there weren't triple there number who were dead simply from his word, regardless of who pulled the trigger.

Rising from the bed he turned the alarm off on his phone, not that he would be needing it anymore, and slipped away before he could wake up the red-headed goddess who was sleeping so soundly in bed. She would just try to fuck the thoughts away, and he would normally thank her for it, but this morning he needed to be inside his head for a minute. The first birthday of your first daughter was a big day for a man like him, and it was good to begin it by reflecting on all that had come before, that had led to the reason for the occasion to celebrate today. Throwing on a pair of jeans he slipped on his belt, strapping his knife to his right hip and hiding his .45 behind his back. Then he threw on a black shirt and his colors. As he creeped down the steps he ran his hand over the bit of ceiling heading down the steps, thinking about the man who had owned this house before him. Melvin Reznik had been a solid soldier once, a real OG, but he'd started using the rock instead of just moving it. Which explained why the house needed so many repairs. Jax had bought the place off of him at a good price, and had Che Verga drive Vin out to the rehab center by the Rez where Jaide was apparently staying.

Moving through halls that had once been filled with the smell of crack smoke and the sound of crack orgies Jax looked in on his sleeping son and daughter. On the outside he could often appear hard, heartless even, but he was a white man in a ghetto that had grown tired of white men before his mother was even born. He needed to be hard, he needed to be ruthless, he needed to be ambitious, he needed to be loyal and he needed to show the Street that he wasn't just some white boy trying to play 'White Savior' just because his father and godfather had not been as bad as everyone had thought. He had always needed to be the one to do the wildest things, to back the toughest plays, and eventually make the toughest calls. That had earned him respect, and that respect had gotten him where he was. He needed to act like he knew what he was doing, both as a father and as a leader. It had taken him too long to realize that no one really knew what they were doing, they just did what they thought was best and let the chips fall where they may.

Slipping on his boots he took to the street, needing a walk to clear his head. Not entirely sure where he was going or what he was doing. Tyler Freeman had been on watch last night, Tyrone's little brother. Sitting on the stoop with a shotgun resting in his lap. When Jax came down the steps Tyler moved to stand, he was there to protect Jax more than he was there to protect anything else. But Jax waved him down. "Watch out for my people Tyler, I won't be gone long. And I won't leave the 'hood. Don't worry." Jax said, knowing that Tyrone had drilled into the heads of every one of Jax's hand picked guards that anything that happened to Jax on their watch would happen to them ten fold. Sometimes Tyrone could be a bit over-protective. Which, considering Jax's life might just be protective enough to keep him alive long enough to see JJ and Izzy grow up.

Turning left on 13th Street he walked the block, waving to the few old heads that were awake this early. Cutting past the fence on the Gayle property he walked up the thinly marked trail that led back into the hilly, wooded Glenwood Park. A little bit of the wild left in Haven City. 645 acres sounded like a lot when you heard it, but it wasn't damn near enough when you knew that on the other side was Glenwood, Nords turf. Once a whole ocean hadn't been far enough away from Nazi's for America, now he was supposed to feel comfortable and safe with a little more than a square mile between him and them. It wasn't enough. It was never going to be a enough. As he snaked through the stoner's trail, moving through the mist, he passed trees painted with graffiti and bits of stuff that had been set up as little hang outs for them when they came up. Somewhere up on top of this ridge was the spot where he had fingered Jaide for the first time. He had carved their names into a tree up here somewhere too. But damned if he could find either spot. Looking down into the valley below he could see a lot of things, including the spot where his father's body had been found. That was a spot he'd always be able to find. Gayle had consistently used the funds he had coming in to keep the park up to date. So the swings weren't the same swings that Jax had been pushed on as a kid, the spinner was gone entirely, whole new different style of playground set than when he was a kid, lots of changes. But it was still the same damn space.

Jax didn't move towards that spot, the place where his blood soaked into the grass and the rock. Where the crime scene photos had been taken. Jax had paid a cop to see those photos once. The word 'mutilated' didn't even begin to cover what they had done to his old man. The ME report had been worse. He didn't want to think about that today though, he didn't want to see those things again in his mind. Today was about the living.

Off to the right, there was an amphitheater, where bands would play for concerts and where local groups would have productions. Last spring Oak Hills High School had done Shakespeare in the Park. Jax had attended as a patron. Appearing to everyone to be a businessman with interests in the community. The silent partners behind a lot of businesses. Jax made his way down the hill towards the amphitheater, knowing what he was looking for was behind it.

The smell of paint was loud in the air, as well as the sound of the working hands and feet. When Jax rounded the bend of the amphitheater he found six young men, three black men, two Latino and one Asian, working on what was a giant mural against the back wall. Painter was standing back behind them looking at a reference piece to instruct them on what they were to be doing. The work wasn't done yet but Jax was already able to make out the man that was center to it. Still, he looked away from it, not wanting to see the mural until it was absolutely as Painter envisioned it. He would be satisficed looking at the reference piece though.

"Jax my man, what the hell are you doing out here this early?!" Painter asked while smiling and hugging the younger man. Painter had been an artist back in the day, did his best to stay unaffiliated, but had gone to the Regulators for protection when he needed it. He was the one who had designed the thirteen they used as a symbol, the ink that many of them wore, most of the art that now adorned Oak Hills walls was either done by Painter, or by his students. This one though, this one was going to be his masterpiece. The man had been talking it up to Jax for months. The Unholy Dead he had called it. At the center was John Jackson, his hair buzzed short like when he was at his best, wearing a black tank top, arms crossed so that they rested on his shoulders. M1911 in his right hand, KA-BAR in his left. The tattoos were accurate, the eyes, the eyes were Jax's eyes. Just older. The sun was shining bright behind him, in the middle of the sun was the thirteen with thirteen stars. Off to one side there was Sampson Mitchell, Fo-Fo, Dasia's dad. He'd been a 91'er, but he'd grown tired of all the senseless violence and had come around to Gayle's side. Risking his life to do so. A beating from dirty cops had left him near dead, and then they'd delivered him up to his old gang members to have him finished off. The Reg who had made that right was the only one to catch a death penalty. Rocko was riding the chair right beside Fo-Fo. On Johns right side was a man who everyone said looked like Jax, but Jax didn't see the resemblance, he hadn't even been four when his uncle Benjy had been shot down in the street. The first Reg to die and the impetus for everything that followed. In total there were fifteen Regulators pictured or referenced in the mural. The hope was that it would be done in time for August when the community would have an event and he'd be able to unveil it. Painter had put out the word that if anyone messed with this mural it would be seen as an act of war, and Jax had backed him up.

"I just couldn't sleep Painter, thinking about them." Painter had been one of the men who had put Jax in the position he was in now, which meant he was one of the ones that were required to bend an ear when Jax needed to vent.

"It your baby girl's first birthday and you're thinking about them? Man, how are you not laying in bed just getting your frustrations out right?" Painted smacked the younger man on the back and the two shared a laugh at that as they watched the artists work. A lot of murals and art that Painter had done, got done fast, but for this piece they were taking their time and getting every bit of it perfect. As if it was inside a church or something. Which, in a lot of ways Glennwood was sacred site to the Regs. Watered by the blood of saints.

"I guess I'm just thinkin', we know what it's all for and everything, but I still don't get why you gave the crown to me. Why not Che or Wylld or somebody from back in the day?" They were silent for a moment as Jax crossed his arms, looking at his father's eyes on the wall. Like all of them years were looking at him and measuring him up to the legends of the Street that had gone before.

"Because you ask that question Jax. And because you'll keep asking that question, and you'll keep feeling the weight of every brother that catches a body or a charge and you'll raise holy hell for every single one of them motherfuckers. Because the head that wears the crown because they think they deserve it? That's the head that'll bring us all down man. Now get the fuck out of here and fuck your woman. Go! Motherfucka before I go up there and do it myself!" Painter gave his boss a push and Jax laughed knowing that the man would never even think of trying on stepping out his wife.

That was the most important lesson of 13th Street, the one Jax thought about on the walk back to the house. The female of the species was more deadly than the male. It had been the women who had brought all of the men of the Regulators together for the first time; the women who often cooked the rock and loaded the guns. The women who called the lawyers and paid the bail when the man was behind bars. Without the women the world didn't run at all. Scar was awake by the time he came home, so he slipped in behind her in the kitchen and gave her a good long kiss. They ate breakfast, dressed the kids. Showered. And then it was time for people to start arriving. Tyrone and Marisol were the first ones to show up; Marisol carrying their son Tyr, Tyrone pushing T Freeman in his pimped out golden wheelchair. Jax and Tyrone needed to lift the crippled man up the steps, but beyond that it went well. Javier and Dasia weren't far behind them, Dasia sporting a two month baby bump and Javier fretting over every crooked step.

"I'm gonna get my peoples up here ese we're going to get you set up right." Javier said as he gave Jax a hug. His father Hernan Ortiz was driven in by Rico, Rico had done a ten year bid up at Denne for arson and had looked after Jax back when he had been there. Now he was one of his best bodyguards. Hernan had run 13th Street for Los Vagos once upon a time. Now the man was semi-retired running a landscaping business. Apparently you could make a lot of money growing weed in old lady's back yards. Not everyone came in with their families, but the ones who were real family came together. Ken, Song , and Nicky Takashi arrived with Moshe Wolfsham in toe. Ken and Song might have aged remarkably well, but they had gone to high school with Kate; Kenny being one of her oldest friends and Song being a few grades lower. Ken had knocked Song up not long after Kate got pregnant, and when his dad died he'd stepped up as the steel-eyed wheelman for the men who would become the Regs. Moshe was the main owner of Wolfsham & Takashi Gym on 12th Street. Now older and mostly confined to a wheel chair, the nonagenarian coach simply needed to roll up his right sleeve and show those six numbers to convince anyone he was the most badass man in the room. The old Jew had taught Jax everything he knew about fighting, and it was hard for Jax to look at the man who was like a grandfather to him, knowing that they'd probably be burying him before the year was out. More and more people showed up, girls from Phantasies, friends from the day care who would be good to show up on 13th Street. More and more gang bangers by the minute until the house was packed with people and there was food filling the tables in the yard. Kate was bouncing little Izzy on her knee sitting and chatting with Joan and some of the other moms while Jax was moving through the crowd mingling and JJ was in the living room playing COD with some of the boys his age. His nerves were starting to fray as the day went a bit longer. Not because of anything that was going on at the party, it was going great. But because of who wasn't there yet.

Che Verga had been Los Vagos, like Hernan, Rico and Rocko, but he was also connected to a lot of other things going on in the world and had been the biggest and most controversial pull to the Regulators. Even with having stepped back in order to spend more time with his family on the Rez and take care of Jaide, Jax had been certain that he would ahve been the one to take over the Regs. There was always that tension in the air, that Jax had something he felt Che should have, and that Che wanted his grandson to know his mother. Not be raised by two white people. Jax was starting on his third beer when he moved over to Scar at the grill, drumming a beat on her back. Of course, he knew that Che was not going to miss out on an opportunity to see his grandson. It was just -

"He's still not here yet, Queen." Jax wasn't usually this nervous.

Usually the red haired bombshell hated waking up alone; most days it meant he hadn't come home in the first place whether it was due to business or his hoing ways. Scar never felt jealous; she had no right… but sometimes waking up with his side of the bed cold stung a little bit. Especially when there had been a time in her life when even if Jax wasn't around she still had someone to wake up with and snuggle in these pre-dawn hours.

Jax's side of the bed wasn't cold though; he had only left it maybe fifteen or twenty minutes before her eyes opened reluctantly.

And besides… Scar needed a few moments to collect herself this morning. If Jax had been there she would have just gotten in her morning dose of sex, just duct tape over the problem, because having a fucking breakdown in front of him on this, the day of their daughter's first birthday, wasn't an option. But it also wasn't what was going to heal her and get her through the day. Sometimes a bitch just needed to be melancholy for thirty minutes.

Instead she slid out of bed and into the dark blue silk robe that was barely long enough to cover her ass. Jax had bought it for her pre-Izzy. A nice, surprise gift after her old cotton robe had died and she complained about wanting something way sexier but still comfortable. And people thought men couldn't shop for clothes. Hell, for all she knew he had enlisted the help of Dasia or Marisol to pick it out but it was the fact he had thought about it at all, had spent money on quality clothing for her, and then had fucked her senseless wearing it. It was split pretty wide at her bosom now- the perks and curses of pregnancy had been equally many. She still hadn't decided which the extra cup size was. It had taken a toll on her lingerie collection.

Scarlet threw open the window quietly as possible and grabbed a joint she had rolled the night before but had passed out with Jax's head on her chest before they could smoke it. It was that pre-dawn point where the street slowly transformed from that misty gray color to the lightest fade of pink. Scar wasn’t always up early enough to appreciate this, but she could picture Kate on her front porch thirty minutes ago smoking a cigarette and enjoying the morning quiet before a busy ass day. Scar got a lot of her habits from Kate, but waking up early was not her strong suit. Maybe if she took high doses of sleep meds like Kate, that would be a different story. She looked down at the clock on her phone, it was only just about 6:00 AM. Their alarms had been set for 6:30. That gave her a half hour to wake up and get herself right for the day.

The Queen surveyed her kingdom as she pulled up her music app and shot straight to the playlist she used when she needed to just lance the damn wound. It had never been her goal to end up here, at the top of the proverbial and literal food chain. Hell, she had never really had goals of her own before. Scar was the ‘support wife’. She didn’t get her hands dirty (and she didn’t count fisting two tiny lesbians on camera getting her hands dirty at all), and while she could throw down if needed, she left the violence to Jax. Her skills lay in nurturing their children, keeping their home looking nice, and keeping a smile on his face when he needed her to lift his spirits.

Up until Jax had been tagged for leadership, the two of them were happy just being crazy together. She didn't care that she was just a porn star and model playing step-baby mama/wifey to a gangbanger and fighter. Jax had worn the weight well, shouldering the burden and showing every mother fucker who doubted him why he deserved the crown, and the legacy of his parents and their closest friends. Scar was just along for the ride. Jaide was preparing to be the biggest badass's badass bitch, having spent countless hours listening to Kate's stories and trying so hard to be that hard, that strong. All the redhead had been trying to do was survive, and maybe get a little love while she was at it. She was perfectly fine being their bottom, being the one who got everything last unless being rewarded. As far as she had been concerned at 16, Jaide had earned those rights, while she had not.

Been sitting eyes wide open behind these four walls, hoping you'd call
It's just a cruel existence like there's no point hoping at all

Scar took a long hit and held it in as the music washed over her, flooding her ears and letting the dam crack a little. As she opened her eyes though, the tears started flowing and she didn't try to hold them back.

Jaide.

The biggest hole in her heart. The one she'd bear for the rest of her and Jax's natural lives. The one he no doubt felt too. Scarlet had loved Jaide passionately, but Jax had loved her longer. That's why it didn't feel right to let him see these tears. It was the constant battle she fought; she wanted to seek comfort in the only person who could understand this unyielding, burning need for the mother of JJ. The woman that she couldn’t fix, that she didn’t pay enough attention to to realize how far her beloved had fallen. Maybe if she would have spent a bit more time at home instead of work, maybe if she had tried talking to Jaide, maybe, maybe, maybe- Scar had a basket full of maybes that she couldn’t do a fucking thing about. She was so sick of blaming herself, of blaming Jaide.

I don't wanna live forever, 'cause I know I'll be living in vain
And I don't wanna fit wherever
I just wanna keep calling your name until you come back home
I just wanna keep calling your name until you come back home
I just wanna keep calling your name until you come back home

It had been on her mind since the phone call; what if she could… just see Jaide for a minute or two? Have a real conversation with her? Maybe there was a shot if she was really clean that she could talk to Jax right? Her heart was screaming that it was the right call, even if Jax didn’t see it. Her mind was sending up all sorts of red flags telling her that was asking to never see her babies again. But Scar was a creature that dwelled on her heart way too often; Kate said it’d get her killed… Jax and Jaide had both asked her never to lose that, just in case they needed it when shit got real crazy. All it would take was an open door though and maybe, just maybe Scar and Jax could breathe again.

Scar leaned against the wall and sunk to the floor, the joint already out as she let herself sob and ran her hand through her hair, just wanting to stop living with this pain. Sure, she wanted Jax to be whole again too, but Scar was afraid she’d crumble without Jaide if the pressure kept building and she felt she had no one to lean back on herself.

Some day she’d be in charge of her own shit; it was already happening slowly. Pretty soon, not only would she be Jax’s Queen, but she’d have her own empire to keep afloat- if she failed to keep pace, to keep innovating and finding new ways for the studio and Phantasie’s to make money in the recently changing market of sex work, he suffered too. And her kids would suffer her not being around as much and that was weighing on her as well.

Baby, baby, I feel crazy
Up all night, all night and every day
I gave you something, but you gave me nothing
What is happening to me?

However, Scar didn’t want to wallow for too long. She got out what she needed and then dried her eyes like a big girl and stood up, letting the playlist continue on through her AirPods as she cleaned up the room a little bit and got herself more appropriately dressed in some PJ shorts and a tank top. She went ahead and popped her nipple rings and tongue ring out so it was a quicker change later.

I don't wanna live forever, 'cause I know I'll be living in vain
And I don't wanna fit wherever
I just wanna keep calling your name until you come back home
I just wanna keep calling your name until you come back home

She sat at the edge of the bed for a minute, pulling her headphones out as the song ended and she deemed that four minutes and six seconds enough crying for the day. She slipped an envelope out of her bedside table and opened it to reveal a couple of pictures; one of JJ in his basketball uniform before his first game that season that smile that ran from ear to ear 100% Jax’s, and one of JJ with Izzy in his lap ‘showing her’ how the PS4 controller worked. Two days ago she had printed them out and slipped them into the envelope with the full intention of giving them to Che when he came to the party. What he did with them after that wasn’t her business, but part of her hoped that he’d give them to Jaide… that both the old man and his daughter would get that at least one half of Jax and Scarlet was trying to test those waters. Still, even now she wasn’t sure she was going to hand it off to him or not. There were a lot of reasons to fear, but Scar also had excuses for anyone who asked. It was all she could do, or at least it felt like it was all she could do.

Timing was perfect though, as a light fussing and “ma ma ma ma da da da da” coo’d over the baby monitor. She hadn’t quite figured out that mama was Scar and Dada was Jax, but she had realized those two sounds got much excitement out of her parents when she put them together in sets like that. And it made them come.

Scar smiled and tied her hair back so Izzy wouldn’t yank it out and went downstairs to retrieve her youngest. “Happy birthday, Isabelle Grace.”

Izzy was worse for wear; she didn’t look like she had slept much and was rubbing her little face even if she wasn’t crying. There was just a light fussing as she caught sight of her mom and started reaching for Scar to pick her up. “Oh no… not today of all days…” Izzy had been drooling for a few days straight, a clear sign she was about to pop out a tooth or two. Teething had been the biggest struggle the last couple of months. Izzy pointed at her mouth and opened up to show her mom as if she knew her mother was already going to force it if she didn’t cooperate. “Well, Izzy Grace, you certainly go all in or go home huh?”

Scarlet could see the top parts of at least five teeth scattered throughout her gum line, looking swollen and red. Well, at least Izzy would be distracted from the pain by all the attention and gifts in a few short hours.

By the time Jax walked in, Scarlet was in the kitchen, Izzy half asleep with her face buried between her mom’s tits. Scarlet wasn’t sure if Izzy could actually breathe like that, but every time the mom moved her head, the birthday girl moved it straight back. Scar could feel the drool down her shirt. It was gross, but not the grossest thing she had dealt with as a mom.

“Hello, my love… We have a teething little birthday girl today. I gave her some Tylenol and put orajel on her gums,” Scarlet said softly as Jax kissed her, smiling softly at him. She offered the child to him as if she was the most precious package in the world, almost like she had the very day she had given birth. “Another half hour... The exact moment she made her first scream to the world..." she teared up again, but this time for a wholly different reason, and one that she didn't mind him laughing at. "I’m going to make pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Figure she can gum that to death with no issue. Mind taking her while I finish up?”

Breakfast was enjoyed as a family, they all got in quick showers and finally were dressed. Scar was wearing a cute light blue dress she had picked up the other day, with knee high brown boots and she left her hair down and ran a curling iron through a few choice sections for texture.

Izzy’s high chair was decorated like a pink throne with balloons and streamers and she was placed in it in her adorable little handmade dress, a pretty tiara on her head, and the ‘throne’ was situated about ten feet away from the door. This way, as everyone walked in, they could greet the little princess once they had said their hellos to Jax. Scarlet was already flitting around setting out drinks and food as everyone started filing in.

Scarlet had a dad and two brothers that she was dead to by this point… This… this was her real family, the people who had chosen and embraced her and for a moment she remembered that she WAS the Queen and that meant something. She did have people to rely on, even if the woman who had always been closest to her was gone. And right now, this Queen had a party to throw and people to feed. And people to boss around. She nudged Ty, asking him to get some of the younger Regs on hauling the kegs to keystone places in the house while Jax kept everyone greeted and making sure they paid Isabelle Grace Jackson the respect she deserved. For doing all of being the most adorable fucking kid in the world. Granted, it wasn't long before Izzy was picked up by Kate and Scarlet was swept up in being the perfect hostess. This is where she felt most whole, surrounded by everyone that had a hand in their success and have a way to give back to the community that had kept her safe and had kept her alive.

Naturally, Marisol and Scarlet posed Izzy and Tyr side-by-side for some cute photos of them in their dress clothes like stereotypical moms that would be shipping their kids together without ever saying that explicitly to their dads. Izzy usually hated other babies, seeming to view them as a potential threat to her attention factor. However, Izzy just sort of coo'd at Tyr and reached over to touch him out of curiosity- granted a rough curiosity that so end in her nearly falling over on him when her roley poley baby body couldn't keep it's balance as she reached over. And entire living room of people laughed at that as JJ helped her sit back up again.

So caught up in the whirlwind of movement and cooking that the beat drummed on her back sent a shiver up her spine and made her giggle, mostly because she hadn't been expecting it. "Who isn't here, my King?" The envelope was folded up so that the pictures didn't bend much and slipped into her boot earlier, and when he mentioned there was someone missing, Scar felt the weight of those pictures against her thigh and knew exactly what he was talking about immediately. "Yo, Ty, watch the grill for the few?"

"Why so you can go give your man a blowjob?" Marisol teased, as most of the kids seemed to have centralized into the living room and the babies were too young to repeat that shit yet.

Scarlet rolled her eyes and took Jax's hand, leading him away in a fashion that would suggest that's exactly why, even though it was more for show than anything else. Of course she wasn't going to disappear on Izzy's birthday just for a blowjob. In the kitchen Scar grabbed a beer from a cooler for herself and took a sip. "He might just be running late? Traffic from the Rez could have been rough... Don't worry, baby, I'm sure he'll show up..." she gave him a look that said she was a bit nervous as well. Her fear (or her deepest wish?) was that he'd show up with Jaide and there would be hell to pay. Hell she would gladly pay just to see if there was any forgiveness in Jax at all like there was in her. At this point, the anger and hurt from the things Jaide had said had dissipated and all she knew was this pain was far worse than any injury she had ever had.

"SABA!!!!" Just as the words were out of her mouth, she turned her head to hear JJ call out with telltale excitement.

"Okay, see!" Scar nodded at Jax. "Speak of the devil and he appears. Come on, let's go greet him."

Scar and Jax weaved through the crowd, Scar snatching Izzy from Kate real quick for another greeting, everyone telling them how great the party was as they passed, towards the front door where JJ was standing excitedly talking to Che Vergas. For a second Scar was more looking behind him to see if her fear/wish had come true. Izzy giggled at her mom and that chubby baby face was the thing she focused on to keep herself in the real world.

Even with Route 91, the drive from the Rez to Haven City was still close to two and a half hours through the mountains in Che's Mustang. Even though she had been seeing the man daily for over a year now, they still didn't talk much. Wasn't a lot to say some days. Two and a half hours in a car together meant a lot of time for silence, rock music, and a lot of time to get inside of her own head. She was one year sober today, they had gone to a AA meeting this morning, a little bit of celebration and testimony. Jaide had cried in front of a room full of fellow addicts as she talked about the trip they were going on and how it was the closest she was going to get to seeing her son, spending the day at a hotel in Oakwood while Che got all of the hugs and time with JJ.

Even after all this time, she still didn't call him dad.

Popping a piece of gum into her mouth she watched the mountains go by. Seven... Her 1 year sober medallion dangled from the elastic band at her wrist, spinning and bouncing with every bump on the road. Her thumb played with the white lighter in her hand, flicking it on and off in beat to the music, trying to find something-anything- to keep her head in the right space today. She had been working the steps, working them really well actually, but today would be a big test. Che was close to some of the guys in ROHC and Jaide had grown close to a few of the old ladies and sweet-butts who were also working the steps. She'd be spending the day with them for the most part, a bunch of addicts talking to each other could keep them all sober.

Step 1. We admitted we were powerless over our addiction - that our lives had become unmanageable.

Her life had become pretty un-fucking-manageable a long time before Isabella had been born, but hearing the news had been what it finally took for Jaide to admit the true hopelessness of her situation, that she was never going to see her son again. To see the two people she loved again. Unless she proved to them that she no longer loved something she could get in a bottle or a needle more. Jaide had not had power over her life for a long time, it had started purely medical, the doctor's had given her Percocet after giving birth to JJ had really fucked her shit up. She remembered the electrical pain running up her whole back, the aches that they left. Then there had been the headaches, the shakes she tried to hide. That pain that felt like an iron rod had been displaced inside of her body. On 13th Street you were spoiled for choices to get opioids, thanks to their various connects. Hell, their had been days where she'd been able to talk both of her loves into a relaxing day on some pills.

Only it had been more than that for her.

Step 2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

There was a sign on the side of the mountain, one of those big billboards that someone paid too much money to get an advertisement about their guns tore or sex shop at the next exit. This one was a big sign that said "Jesus Saves" on it with a verse and a phone number beneath. Jaide knew the verse though, was a Psalm 50:14-15

"Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and pay your vows to the Most High;
15 and call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

It had been tough getting clean, coming down off all those things she had gotten up on. She'd gone cold turkey before, but this time it needed to stick. The shakes had nearly killed her, going through withdrawal in the old school way. Locked in a dirty motel room, no visitors save for Che who brought her clean water and food to eat. Vegetables. So many damn vegetables. Laying there in a pool of her own vomit, piss and sweat, after six days and six nights of withdrawal, she was ready to give damn near anything in order to get control of her own mind and body again. And on the seventh day, she had rested.

Step 3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God.

Once upon a time they'd joked that Jax walked like a god, fucked like one too, Jaide still loved the man, but in order to get herself sober she needed to recognize that there was a higher power than Jacob John Jackson. The Verga's were a Sephardic Jews, originally from Southern Spain, they'd come to the new world like many other people for similar reasons, strike it rich and get away from oppression. 0 for 2 on that end, but they'd kept their Lord and they'd kept their name. Jaide's mom had been Jewish on paper too, but the type that never really went to Shabbat. Jaide had been a lukewarm Jew at best, though she'd still had a bat mitzvah like all the other good Jewish girls. Her eyes rolled at the memory of Jax being Jax at her bat mitzvah, then making out with him in the back room. You grew up fast when you grew on the Street.

Che had gone through a period of his life where he went on a spiritual quest, started out Jewish, attended a few born again gatherings, studied with a legit yogi and a guru, got in touch with nature and learned the language and myths of the Rogue River Indians, and then when he'd gone to Israel he had a spiritual revelation at the Wailing Wall and come back to Judaism. Jaide had found God in that shitty motel room, and Che had helped her get to know Him. She was still learning, still growing, but she'd come to know something in the last year that she'd never dreamed of before.

Step 4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Spitting her gum out of the window she debated smoking a cigarette, and instead decided to put another piece of gum in. Eight... It had taken her awhile to get through that inventory. Tally up who she had been, who she was, and who she wanted to be. It was enough to make her want to drink. But, she wasn't going through all this trouble in Addicts Anonymous just to need to go down the street to Alcoholics Anonymous. So she'd gone through it all, her violent tendencies, her sluttishness, her lack of gratefulness, her self-hate. But also her good qualities too, that had been the benefit of it all. Seeing that her whole self was not the sum of all the despicable and wretched decisions she had made from the moment she had JJ. Or even the bad decisions she had made before ever taking that first pill. She'd gone through it all and then came the even harder step.

Step 5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

God and herself had been the easy ones. Once she got to confessing she had found herself unable to stop. But another person, that had been absolute hell. Sitting there with Che and going through all the fucked up shit she'd done. It had been easier to tell him about fucking a dealer to get a discount than it was to tell about the hardest memory. The fight with Scar and accidentally starting a fire at the Jackson house afterwards. Still she'd managed to break through and talk it all through, talk about cracking the pills into powder, putting them into the spoon and heating up the metal. About how that time, she hadn't been trying to get high. She'd been trying to die. She'd wept and wept and nestled into Che's arms and just let it all out.

Step 6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

An hour into the drive she was getting cramped. Finished nearly half a pack of gum too, just to keep her nerves from getting too on edge. Slipping out of her shoes and socks she places them on the dash board. The sun loved seeing more of her tan skin, but Jaide hated the look of her feet anymore. The black marks had faded months ago, so that the two little white scars were almost imperceptible to anyone who didn't know they were there. She knew they were there though. Two little dots that looked giant to her, though in reality they were smaller than the tip of her little finger. Nestled in the 'knuckles' behind her middle toe on her left foot. It had been easiest to bend down and press the needle into the vein there. So much involved with the steps was recognizing the reality that she could not change these things about herself, but that God, as she understood God, could.

Step 7. Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings.

Route 91 seemed to stretch straight to the East as far the eye can see, at least when you looked at it from a place like 13th Street. But when you rode it for two hours heading West, you realized that Jeffersonia and Haven City weren't actually at the same level, and so there was a long section in between where it angled North-West to cut across the mountains. Where the road curved to head back in straight West they stopped and pissed at a Wendy's and got some food. Che and Jaide were possibly the only two people in the parking lot that weren't white, with maybe one or two of the workers as well. They sat there on the hood of Che's Mustang and ate their fast food. Saturday's were Jaide's cheat day after all, so she enjoyed dipping her fries into a frosty while people watching. Che ate two burgers, and enjoyed a cigarette once he double-checked that it was fine with Jaide. She still smoked from time to time, but not this weekend.

Occasionally, the good people of Whereverthefuck would glance over at the two people from out of town just minding their own business. Of course, the two dark-skinned, tattooed out out-of-towners caused the good white people of Whereverthefuck to get nervous, and the age difference between these two obvious criminals of course must mean that something illicit was going on. Assholes apparently had never heard of something called father-daughter road trips. As Jaide was eating her fish sandwich she looked around the parking lot, pretending that she didn't miss eating bacon, and her eyes spotted a group of friends hanging out in the next lot over, there was a boy there that looked like he could be Jax, if Jax listened to country music and called his dad Uncle, but the important part was the way that the girl who was siting next to him was looking at him. The love in her eyes. The same way that Jaide looked at Scar and Jax back in the day. Like they were the only people in the whole world.

Step 8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

Her list wasn't as long as some. She had seen people who had been tricking for drugs most of their lives write out their lists every day in order to try and make it clear to themselves just how much they needed to do. Jaide's list had been a shorter one. Still a lot of work to do, but she'd gotten the list down to about seven or eight people that she needed to make amends to, the problem being that they were all on 13th Street. And Jax had made it clear that he would kill her if she came there. It was a strange feeling, loving someone who had threatened to end your life. That was something that the Street did to you, if someone did something like that to you and it was for a good reason, if it was for a reason that made sense to the Street. You couldn't honestly hold it against them. Jaide would have done the same if their positions were switched. Probably wouldn't have even given him the chance to run considering all the other shit Jax had done. Kate, for abusing her hospitality, JJ for the fire, Marisol for bumming money off of her for drugs, Dasia for calling her so many times while in rehab causing problems with her and Jaime, the doctor who had prescribed the pills to her, then there was Scarlet and Jax.

Step 9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

That was the step she was on, the step that seemed impossible. How was she supposed to make amends for the things she had done? How was she supposed to make amends if she couldn't contact any of the people she needed to make amends with? She had honestly thought about driving into 13th Street and calling Jax's bluff, doing her best to make amends to all of them and then let Jax do whatever he felt. That thought came to mind as she got herself situated in the hotel room in Oakwood, the girls would be coming over in about thirty minutes, she could always take Che's car and drive there herself. Make a scene and let the chips fall. But that was just a dream. So she settled in for a day of painful sobriety and friendship, as close to her son and her loves as she would ever get to be. Once she had kissed Che on the cheek and watched him drive away she looked to the West, reached into her pocket and pulled out a cigarette and a light.

Che was probably the oldest of the Regulators, 63, grey haired and semi-retired. the man spent most of his time out at the Rez with his family, his kids and his other grandkids, facilitating the gun trade for Kate and moving some drugs as well. He'd helped set up a set in Jeffersonia, nothing so big and grand as what they had here in HC, but powerful in its own way. Still, their style was different out on the Rez that it was on 13th Street. Che walked into the Jackson home wearing an honest to God denim vest over a black t-shirt, with blue-jeans that looked like they were from the 1970's and cowboy boots underneath, along with a broad-brimmed khaki hat with an eagle feather in it. On the back was the 13 with the thirteen stars. Hanging around his neck was a medicine bag and some kind of medallion. He looked like he had walked out of a totally different world, but one only needed to see the way the man carried himself to know that he belonged to the Street as much as any of them. Not that that precluded them from busting his balls about his sense of fashion.

"Look at this country-bumpkin looking motherfucker." Jax said, smiling and happy to see that his almost-father-in-law was smiling back. The two embraced, an actual hug not the typical gang hug and then Jax stepped to the side and let Che do what he was going to do. There was a large present sitting beside the door, much too large to be a gift for Izzy, but no doubt grandpa wasn't going to bring a gift for the birthday girl and not for his actual grandson.

"You are as beautiful as ever Escarlata." Che said with a grin that reminded anyone who saw it that he was only a sixty-three year old man on paper, and that his behavior in other regards was more befitting of one of his grandkids. In many ways, Jaide had fallen in love with her father in another man. Though also not in many other ways. Che moved and embraced Scarlet like she was his own daughter, giving her a kiss on the forehead. As he was standing there, he blocked Jax's view of his daughter and woman though he could see that Che was moving his hands. What he did not see, was that while one hand moved inside the pocket of his jacket to pull out a wrapped box, the other reached into a different pocket and pulled out a small bracelet, woven, the type you might see made in a rehab housing unit perhaps.

"And a happy birthday to you, you little cherub." Che said, placing the gift between the tiny little redhead's fingers. Handing off the box was used as cover though, to tie the quite too large bracelet around one of the baby's chubby ankles, angling it so that the baby's mother could see the name on the bracelet, in black letters. J A I D E.

"Now, JJ, why don't you open your present!" Che said, always happy to play the doting grandfather as he took the box and gave it to the boy who excited tour off the wrapping paper to reveal a guitar case, sized for a boy his age.

Jax turned his attention from his son's excitement to look at Scarlet, guaging her reaction and taking her advise on what to do next. Jaide's father was always a blindspot with him in some regards. So important for business, but also so volatile personally.

"Don't listen to that asshole," Scar gave Jax a quick smirk, "You're as handsome as ever, Che," Scar gave him a kiss on the cheek and returned his hug as tightly as she could without crushing the birthday girl in her arms.

There was always a little bit of tension in her around Che. She didn't always have the best sense of the man, and he had argued his point on Jaide several times throughout the time. Even though Jaide had burnt her bad, she didn't blame Che for wanting to ensure his grandson knew his heritage, and that Jaide knew her son. She would have done the same in his shoes, she had no doubt. That's why she had figured this was the best way to slide something to Jaide. The bracelet was just pure poetry on an already raw day. She very pointedly whispered in his ear: "Don't leave without saying goodbye, I got a couple of things before you. Pictures for your wall."

As she looked down at the thing Che wrapped around Izzy's ankle for a moment she lost her breath, seeing those five letters on that bracelet. J A I D E. All of her resolve and distraction from her grief this morning came flooding back and in a second of pure hard strength she willed the tears back. Her hand covered Che's and she gave him a pointed look as if her previous request was related to the name on that bracelet before letting him go dote on his grandson. Izzy giggled and looked at the box in her hands happily although she hadn't quite figured out that she had to unwrap it for what was inside, Scar slipping the bracelet off of Izzy's ankle before anyone noticed and slipping it into her bra.

Scarlet kissed Izzy's head and felt the weight of the bracelet against her skin and made up her resolve that Che would get those pictures, and therefore Jaide would get the pictures, and a number she had carefully scribbled to a burner phone she had picked up especially just for this. An open invitation, if Jaide wanted to take it, though she knew the risks in the contact. Maybe if she could just hear her voice again, not filled with anger at Jax making challenges out of pain.

"Maybe" was all the redhead had.

She gave Jax a smile as he looked at her before bringing Izzy over to him and reaching up to give him a kiss. "Well there goes any chance of peace and quiet," she chuckled as JJ tore into the wrapping paper and pulled out a guitar case. Not that Scarlet minded at all; she'd find some money for lessons if JJ wanted them and anything else he could easily learn off of YouTube. His woman was careful not to let on she had been shaken by a bracelet with the name of the one person they had both been pining over for far too long. Today, of all days, she didn't want him to worry about the past. She was doing plenty of that for him.

Didn't take long for Scarlet to leave Izzy in Jax's arms in order to relieve Ty of grill duty and go back to hosting a very busy party. People would be coming and going all day and she was in charge of making sure the beer was cold, the food was plenty and that everyone was greeted properly. It was a tall order. One she threw herself into fully to stop from thinking about the bracelet, the woman who had made it, and how badly she needed to feel her touch again.

There were still plenty of people to show up, and lots of party to be had.

Around the time word made its way that Che was saying his goodbyes, Scarlet had drawings and colorings JJ had been making for Saba stacked in her hands as part of her reasoning to specifically say goodbye. "Do you mind if I walk Che to his car, my King? I didn't get much chance to update him on anything important with JJ because I've been running around all day," she made her excuses as she got to the front door in time to see Che off.

"Thank you for coming, Che. It's always wonderful to see you," she smiled up at him and handed him a stack of colorings and drawings JJ had done for Saba. "When we told JJ you'd be coming he wanted to make sure you had lots of artwork to go back with. He's really excited by that guitar. I can walk you to your vehicle, if you'd like?"

She figured it was the only easy way to slip the letter to him. Originally she had intended to slip the envelope into the pile of drawings, but hadn't had a free second to pull it out of her boot.

Che took the drawings from Scarlet gladly, a large smile on his face. JJ was his third grandson, with the total number up to six in the years in-between. A younger Che had gone out of his way to prove just how fecund he was, and that attitude hadn't died until he had been past forty. There were little Verga's all up and down the Pacific Northwest, a remnant of his years riding with Vibora before settling on the Rez. Haven City had just been another stop in his life, a place where he had stayed longer than most, but still a stop. It was honestly a miracle that Jaide was the only bastard he had running around in HC, but he had done his best to do right by all of his kids that he knew about. One of the ways he was hoping to do that was to mend the breach between his grandson's father and mother. A breach that Che couldn't help but think would have never occurred if he had been more active in his daughter's life.

When Scarlet offered to walk Che to his car he gave her a once over and then raised an eyebrow. "The last time a Jaxson woman walked me to my car alone, she pressed a knife against my back and threatened to sever my spine." There was humor in his voice at the memory, but not enough to fully pull of the ambiguity of the anecdote. It was certainly something that Kate Jackson would do, and encounters between him and Kate had been known to be a little volatile in the six years that Che had visited his daughter while she lived under Kate's roof. It was a true event, part of the Legend of John Jackson in the lead up to the founding of the Regulators, but only Kate and Che were witnesses to it, so he was going to just let Scarlet stew on whether he was joking or not.

In either case, Che tucked the portfolio of the young artist underneath his right arm and offered his left arm to Scar so that he could walk with her to his car. He had not parked far from the Jackson house, the street itself was fairly filled with people who had needed to come from other parts of Oak Hills or elsewhere in order to get to the party. Back in the day all you really needed to get a block party going on 13th Street was to start setting things up in your driveway and the others would gather with you and bring everything else you needed. It was a nice, warm Saturday night in Haven City and Che enjoyed the short walk next to a beautiful woman as he came up on his muscle car. Both Jaide's father and her daddy had the same taste in cars.

Slipping out of Scar's arm he gave her a bit of a sad smile. "You know it's her anniversary right? One year sober today, and she's celebrating at a motel in Oakwood."

"Ah well, see the difference between me and the last Jackson woman to walk you to your car is I'm not just a rebranded Ramage. Also I don't have a knife on me right now." Scarlet gave him the sweetest smile with a wink, just before Kate on the front porch called out: "Don't you lie to that girl Che Verga, I threatened to sever your spine but that was after already threatening your balls!"

There was no doubt there was at least some truth behind the exchange; Scar hadn't seen Kate in her glory days but the woman had taught her everything about knives, weapons and how to use them, and Kate's record of violence spoke for itself. And tension wasn't the word for the interactions she had seen between Che and Kate in her younger years when she had first slipped into Jaide's arms.

As she stopped next to Che's car, Scar reached down to her boot with a shared sad smile, slipping her secret gift out.

"I do know. She... Told Jax over the phone the day we called to invite you to the party. It was a tense situation... But I heard her voice Che, the voice of the girl who dragged my ass to that school lunch table and changed my life forever; the sober, stable Jaide," there was confession in her voice as she slipped the envelope in his hand, opening it up and flashing the pictures, particularly the number on the back of the final picture. Her voice was shaking, holding back tears she couldn't risk in case anyone got suspicious. Knowing that she was so close... Scar just wanted to slide into his car, and make excuses when she came back. It was a fight not to break as she thought about those dark curls and how much she wanted to just hold Jaide. "Bringing her to Oakwood was risky, Che... I... There's an opening. A crack in the wall... that if I can just convinced Jax..."

Her hand slipped into her dress pocket and she pulled out the bracelet he had given Izzy earlier, pressing it to her lips before slipping it back. She knew Jax would never go for it if she told him her plan, but also she knew in her soul Jax was broken too and neither of them were ever going to feel whole again without Jaide there between them. Scarlet was often Jax's conscious though. The voice that made him see reason. She just needed to see Jaide, needed to prove to Jax that Jaide was serious.

"Is she... Is she really doing good Che? I need honesty and not you protecting her. I'm doing this for JJ more than anyone else, but I have both kids to think of. And I want her to know them, but she's relapsed before; I know you understand that we're fighting hard to keep the kids out of this life and for them to make something of themselves," Scar was staring into his eyes, dead set on him understanding just how serious she was.

For so long she had thought it would be impossible to reach this point, for her to forgive Jaide, for Jax to be vulnerable enough for her to weasel this in there...but now there was an opening and God damn it all if she wasn't going to dive off the deep end and take it. Every stupid risk she had ever taken had paid of. Now it was time to test those waters again.

"The life we live here is still something that's a temptation, constantly for her, and I'm not about to stick her in a decision where she has to be forced to make a choice she's not strong enough to make... But... "

Scarlet stopped as a couple of people walked by on their way in, waving hello and telling them were the beer was set up. Once past, she looked back up on Che, letting all her pain and hope unto that one look before changing the subject: "Jax and I have been talking about bringing JJ out to the Rez more. Shits finally cooling down here, and my schedule at the studio and JJ's basketball are calming down. We have more free weekends. He misses his Saba a lot. We meant to do that this past year but finishing the house has been our priority this summer. The plumbing going back in January messed our money up. You know how it goes, blessing and burdens of home ownership. But I figured these pictures could brighten up the house."

She shifted some hair out of her face. "JJ loves his gift. He was already in my phone looking up YouTube tutorials. He's so smart. I should get back to the party, before Jax thinks I'm making out with you!" she popped up to kiss both of his cheeks before resting her hand on the one that hold the envelope that could change their lives forever, again. "We never stopped loving her. That was the hardest part. Tell her that for me? Or better yet she can use that number and I'll tell her myself."

Che walked with the dangerous red head to the place where he had parked his nice muscle car. There were several million dollars worth of car currently sitting on 13th Street heading east towards the cul-de-sac. Honestly the money in cars currently on the block was probably worth more than all of the property values on the block combined, if you left the Gayle house out of it, but not one of them would be touched. That was one of the beauties of the Regulators, neighbors didn't jack up neighbors cars any more one 13th Street. Instead they went over to Glenwood or Pinesend, or deeper into Oak Hills to do their dirt when they needed to jack a car to get their ends. Of course, everyone knew that if they needed some help with making ends meet for the month, they just needed to walk up to the nearest blue-star Reg ( the crew leaders and officers) and they would see that your situation was handled.

Getting to the car he leaned against it and withdrew a cigarette from his jacket pocket and pressed it to his lips, lighting it, taking a pull and then exhaling before answering Scar's many questions.

"She's doing as good as any woman a year clean of hard drugs can be. Every day is its own day, but we're out by the Rez, if she wanted to get her lode on she could do it as easy as that." He snapped his fingers to accent his point. "Any dealer in Table Rock or Jeffersonia would deal to her in a heart beat, even my boys, because she has the money and attitude to back up any request she makes. But she hasn't gone near those boys. She's stuck with her group home and swinging by my place when she can. " When she mentioned basketball he shook his head and laughed. " I told Gayle we needed to push for that soccer field in Glennwood Park, get the hoppers playing a real sport." He joked, letting his bit of Spanish machismo show through. Still it was obvious that he was joking and loved his grandson.

"I'll tell her everything." Che promised as he took the envelope and slid it into the glove box. He gave her one last hug and then looked down the street. A black Maserati Granturismo with tinted windows turned the corner and was making its way towards the house. "Well when the real money starts showing up to the party, you know it's time for me to leave." He joked before moving around to the front of his car and getting in. He lifted a hand as he drove by, waving goodbye to Scar as he droved past the Maserati going separate ways.

The expensive black car rolling up on 13th Street with two mafiosos inside of it brought back memories for Kate, to an incident in the late Spring to early Summer of 1996. Right after the first jewelry store heist that the original crew had pulled off in Glennwood Terrace. The Italians on that day had been in an Audi and they hadn't been there for a courtesy call. Berto Vitale had been consigliere to two generations of Di Capri bosses and the GT Gang (as the news was calling the robberies at the time) hadn't paid their tax for operating in Haven City. Back then you had needed to pay your crime tax to either the Hongs, the Bratva, Los Vagos or Di Capri. The Italians had just been the ones to find out who the robbers were before the others. For that reason, Vitale had brought two gun thugs with him in case there was trouble. Theo Jolicoeur was a friend though, the messaggiorno for his cousin who liaised with the leaders of the street-level gangs in Haven City. At least, that was the extent of his job that anyone on 13tth Street cared about his job. The short guy who had been driving the car followed just behind Theo wearing a plain white t-shirt and jeans with a shoulder holster displayed openly was obviously a gun thug. Joe Pusateri moved his shoulders with the bull dog like swagger that accompanied the type. Over the rims of his sunglasses he gave Scar an appreciative glance, not knowing who she was or who she belonged to.

Kate took a long drag from her cigarette eyeing up the new bodyguard, fixing him with a gunslinger look that measured him from head to toe and back, judging what would happen if he reached for either of the guns under his arms. The answer was: if the thug pulled first, Kate would gut shot Theo making sure that there was no way the threat to her family would risk actually being a threat. Putting the butt of her cigarette out in the ashtray next to her, she leaned back slightly and shouted into the open door of the Jackson house. "Jacob! The Mob's here to see you!" She said and then fixed a smile that said 'I'm a crazy, trigger-happy old lady, what are you going to do?' which Theo answered with his own diplomatic grin and produced a box of Cuban cigars from under his arm.

"What is this 'mafia'?" Theo joked, playing up a stereotypical Italian accent, since he could actually speak Italian the fake accent was actually pretty good, before passing the box of cigars to Kate. "For you, Mrs. Jackson." He said like a student giving an apple to the teacher.

"You always were my favorite." She said as if she were the favorite aunt talking to her favorite nephew. All of it was a game, of carefully measured moves and Kathryn Jackson had been playing the game since Theo was barely a dream in his late daddy's balls.

"Thanks Mom." Jax said stepping out onto the porch and greeting Theo with a hug, not the Regulator hug that the OG's had came up with so long ago, but instead a different, normal man-hug. There was no question of him sizing up the bodyguard or any sign of caution, he had three young Regs across the block watching the party, and others down the block on the corner. He was untouchable in his kingdom and the lack of caution was itself a show of power. The Di Capris could act like gods on Olympus out on their hill in Venice, but on the Street Jax was reigning in hell.

"Great to see you man, glad you could make it." He said as the two broke the embrace, a very thick envelope having exchanged hands from the mafioso to the gang leader. Izzy's birthday gift plus extra. The Di Capris knew how to keep the Regulator-Mafia alliance going strong. History was good, but fat stacks were even better.

"Glad to be here Jax, always good to be at a party where I'm not the only brother you know?" Theo joked and then looked back at Kate and down the street at Scarlet. his next words were whispered, always the spy master. "Though I do have some business we should probably talk about before I enjoy the festivities too much." Jax nodded, serious for a moment, then put on his gang leader face again and called down the street.

"Scarlet, get your fine ass up here! we've got guests and Joan said she wanted to talk to you about something!" There was a smile on his face though, he had spent his whole life in the panopticon and the roles he needed to play were all part of the Street.

Scarlet waved Che off, and gave herself a minute to reign her emotions back in together. This was supposed to be a happy night, and yet for the second time in less than 24 hours she had found herself with tears in her eyes for the same damn woman.

He was barely down the street when she heard her King calling and naturally she answered by strutting that fine ass he was talking about back down to her front yard. Tears gone, eyes clearing, she passed Theo and the guy who had looked at her like she was a piece of meat. She had long stopped being offended by that; as long as he quickly understood which lion got to eat off of her. Or take shots off of her. In typical diva fashion, she did so with an extra sway to her hips; nearly every guy on the front porch either blatantly stared at the porn star, or were avoiding doing so.

"Yes, My King?" her look was pure devotion as she pressed herself against his side to kiss his neck. "Sorry, Che and I were talking about getting JJ out to the Rez more, didn't mean to take so long," Scarlet whispered to him and then suddenly had on her hostess face as she turned to their newest guests.

"Theo! I'm so glad you could make it! If you're looking to pay respect to the Birthday Princess she's in the living room with the kids," she stepped forward and leaned in to kiss his cheek in greeting. Made small chat like necessary, and her mind wandering to what Joan could possibly want to discuss. This was meant to be a no business day, and it wasn't often Joan got too personal….

"Remember, keep the business minimal, please?" Scarlet smiled at Jax, though her warning was more aimed at Theo. After all, this was her Princess' birthday and that was essentially a holiday to her. Many people had gotten a similar warning. There was a time and a place. "Joan still in the dining room?"

"Last I saw her, she was in the backyard. Izzy's playing nice with Ty's little one in the living room," Kate spoke as she inspected the cigars with approval and hit her menthol before looking at the redhead that was essentially her daughter in law with something in her eyes that Scar couldn't identify. Kate was always a bit of an enigma to Scar but the porn star was always on edge whenever she saw something new on the woman's face. This was a woman who had killed, who had set the world and a man's heart on fire that had ended in tragedy. Kate had seen so much more than her share of death and pain. To say she ass intense was putting it mild. Still, Scar knew what Kate would do for her son and her grandchildren… as much fear and respect as she had for Kate, as a mother she understood now the strength of a mother's love. A grandmother as well, clearly.

The Queen surveyed her kingdom and the people that filled it. People who had literally brought her into their world and now trusted her to support the King. Dasia sat in a chair, Javier fussing over her constantly much to the independent woman's chagrin; it was clear she was lovingly exasperated with him and Scar stopped, clapping Javier on the shoulder. "Do me a favor, Javi, go haul that keg over there to the front room," even though she had lower people to do it, Javier rarely told her no. Dasia visibly chuckled as he scrammed off to go do it.

"Thanks, Red. It was cute at first but now it's non stop!" the two women chuckled. "So much for those red heels I bought!! Ankles are already swelling. We need to do a shopping trip. Maternity clothes for me, new dress that fits those shoes for you??"

The red head agreed wholeheartedly before excusing herself. Izzy and Tyr were half crashed in Ty's lap, fighting sleep. Izzy spotted her mama and giggled, waving and simultaneously lifting Scar's heart back from the pit that thoughts of Jaide had put it in. Ty gave her a nod as Marisol walked back over with a bottle for Tyr, trying to get him to crash early so they could be adults.

The wilderness that was 13th street had been hard to navigate at first. For so long she had been the newcomer, the hot strange Catholic girl who was always five steps behind and running to catch up… which if you asked any one of their closest friends would agree was fun to watch if only to see her boobs smack her in the face.

The lioness wove through the crowded room, smiling at everyone she passed, getting praised for her party throwing all for a 1st birthday party. "I never would have done anything like this for Javi. Not for something he wouldn't remember," Scar overheard Jacinta, Javier's mom, say.

"Ah but this was really only half about Izzy. This is just as much for the whole family as it is for her!" it really was a celebration all the way around.

So many people, all here for them or at least their booze… Scar would never have Jackson as a last name, she was sure, but that didn't make her feel any less apart of the legacy.

A legacy that in part had always included Joan. Kate's best friend, and Jon Gayle's wife. Joan was the right amount of ambitious for her man, exactly like Scar had become for Jax once she realized all she had to gain by not being afraid to be balls deep in this. Time and time again she had proved that her softness was her greatest asset, but only because it hid the true strength beneath.

Beauty played a part, but Joan Gayle was a woman who saw promise and talent long before anyone else; Kate told a story that everyone half believed, that Joan had smirked at her husband the day Jax was born and said, "That kid's going to tile these streets someday…" obviously it was a prophecy come true…

"There you are. For a second I wonder if Jax had distracted you with dick," Joan sat in her lawn chair throne with a cigarette in one hand and a large margarita in the other, a seat across from her as if she had been Waiting. Scar noted the area was quite empty of other bodies as she sat.

"Nah, that's for the after party. I deserve something for birthing the kid, right?" the redhead joked, but there was a seriousness to Joan that quieted Scar.

"As long as it's not another fucking kid, right?" Joan asked as if that would fuck up what she was about to discuss with Scar.

"Yeah. Preferably not that. Not that shit's finally straight."

"Scarlet Lawrence there's nothing straight about you. And it's time to talk about extending your reach… having the title of Queen comes with a lot of perks… but you could be getting more…"

In the end, the business that Theo wanted to talk to Jax about was a lot less complicated than he had thought it would be. The peace with the Hong Triad and the NLG was going well. Chico was the only issue on the Los Vagos end of things, and he was being handled properly by Cesar. It turned out that burning a few Nazis alive was all you needed to do to get them to start acting right. 91'er's hadn't been causing waves in the first place since they had all of their own stuff to deal with. The urban geography just didn't allow for them to be as unified as the Regs or Los Vagos were. So really all that Theo needed was to give Jax a list of names of people that didn't need to be seen around Haven City anymore, but that it also needed to look like they were in trouble with people who weren't the Di Capri family. Jax would pass the names on to certain people he trusted and some more guys would earn their stripes. All of it would be worked out with Ty and Javi, maybe give one of the kills to Javi so that he could have a bit more money to spend when it came baby time. No on wanted Dasia going to a low-quality hopsital for her birth.

The rest of the night actually ended up being pretty mellow for a 13th Street party. No one got caught doing cocaine off anywhere they shouldn't, no one was dumb enough to bring any other products beside weed to the Jackson house, and all-in-all it was a nice warm night with family and friends. Kate needed to be walked home by two Regs because she had started to drink herself into a stupor at some point and no one had been paying attention enough to stop her. Which wasn't really a surprise, any event like this where John should be, Kate eventually decided to not be conscious of by the end of it. It was one of the reasons that Jax and Jaide ended up the way they were, being raised by an alcoholic teen mom like that. But she had never made Jax question her love for him, and being raised by a drunk mom could've ended up a whole lot worse for him than it did. Izzy and Tyr ended up falling asleep together, which Marisol got a few really cute pictures of before they ended up leaving.

Izzy falling asleep didn't stop the party though. And it was a little after two o'clock before Jax and Scar were finally able to slip into bed together and debrief about the day, including that Scar was getting a promotion to street-level management of girls. Which was an odd business structure in general but it was something Jax was both suprised and exctied about. At the end of the day Jax went to sleep next to the woman he loved, with just enough of all the good stuff to almost forget about that Jaide shaped hole inside of him.

It took her three days to work up the nerve to call Scarlet. All Sunday she paced with her phone in hand, before going to the pool and swimming away as much of her excess energy as she could. There weren't any pools out on the Rez so it was a more difficult workout than she was used to. Between the workout and the chlorine Jaide simply hadn't had the energy to stay awake long enough to make the phone call. On Monday she got halfway through typing the phone number a dozen times, but kept telling herlsef that Jax would be there, or that she was at work, or a hundred other excuses for why she couldn't just call the love of her life he obviously wanted her to get in touch, dspite the risk. She cried herself to sleep that night, cuddling the blankets and wishing that Scar was there with her. It was the hardest night since she had gotten clean, wanting something, anything, to take the pain away.

Finally, at noon on Tuesday, she picked up the phone and dialed the number, waiting to see if the love of her life would answer it.

Joan was handing her another key to the kingdom. "I'm not going to lie. It's not an easy task, but you're organized enough, and it's time you step up and show them what a queen looks like. This is the house the Regs have built. Blood has been shed to get us this far, so don't fuck it up."

Scar choked her terror down though and gave Joan an unhesitating: "Why would I fuck that up? I love money and my head as much as the next bitch here..." Joan smirked proudly at the attitude.

That night Scar confessed to Jax that she was worried she really would fuck it up, and if she did they'd both fall... But the better cut would be hella nice and just sky rocket them further to their dreams. "Hell by end of next year maybe most of the house will be complete. I want to get something nice for the kids too..." she passed out talking about all the things that would get done, even if it meant her time would be strained until she learned to balance everything.

The day Jaide called was the day that changed everything for Scar. Nothing was happening in the studio, as a matter of fact she was the only personel on site today. A down time day, Scar had started her day at 4am just to get the place reorganized and functional again after a busy few weeks. Sort of a mental reset. She had her work cut out for her.

Scar's pocket buzzed. She looked at her phone on the desk, the one that was used in her daily life for the kids, emergency contacts and probably at least 1000 naked photos that had been sent to Jax over the years... That reminded her she had a missed text from Jax earlier while she had been cleaning the storage room.

The burner phone was pulled out of her pocket; only one person had this number. Scar stared at the unknown number, almost not answering it in her surprise. While she had been waiting for this, she wasn't sure if she was ready to handle it with everything else on her mind... But maybe hearing that voice would make everything clear again, bring clarity back to her heart and head.

Finally, just before the last ring that would have sent the caller to voice mail, Scarlet opened the flip phone and hit accept. "H-hey..." her voice was quaking and to keep her free hand from shaking she started clicking her pen. This was it. If Jax found out, Scar would be a dead woman...but Scarlet Lawrence already had a plan for that...

Every ring on the line sent aftershocks through Jaide's body as she stood, leaning against the dresser in her motel room, trying not to shake with anxiety and excitement. It took everything she had not to give in after the third ring, to admit that Scar had changed her mind and that she didn't really want to talk to Jaide. Or worse, this was all a trap to see if Jaide would be dumb enough to defy Jax. The wait to see whether Scar answered the phone was utter agony and it had Jaide fumbling for a pack of gum and shoving a piece into her mouth to vigorously chew at the same tempo that her heart was running at. Three.

Then Scarlet answered her phone, and with one word Jaide felt her body light on fire while a ballet of butterflies performed in her stomach. It was the type of sensation that would've made more sense for a teenage girl who was still trying to navigate that sense of gay panic that overcame her every time Scarlet Lawrence did damn near anything, even if it wasn't being the gayest girl at Oak Hills High. Jaide's legs felt weak and she needed to brace herself against the dresser in order to prevent them from giving out. She was a girl who had stood tall in plenty of 'scrimmages', nearly bashed the head in of more than one chola who had not come at her correct; had hustled and grifted her way through six years of being an addict, doing whatever she could to get her next high- though she had never tricked. One of the few lines she hadn't crossed.

For what seemed like eternity the only sound on the line was Jaide chewing bubblegum. Not so obnoxious that it would grind on either of their nerves, but in the deafening silence it seemed like a roar. Twice she took in a breath to say something, but the words wouldn't come. None of them were particularly up to date on mental health issues, so all of the tell-tale signs of a possible anxiety attack went over Jaide's head. The intense breathing, the stimming, the way her heart felt like it was going to beat out of her chest and her eyes looked like they had just dropped some serious shit. Then her eyes fell on the picture of JJ that Che had given her and the whole world seemed to slow back down to normal speed.

"Hey, babe." Jaide said and then paused, surprising herself with how much love there was in just those two words. She and Jax were endgame from the start, day one's since day one, but Jaide and Scar were something else entirely, and hearing her voice again had tears filling her eyes instantly. Jaide didnt' cry, but when she did it was ugly tears and frustration tears. It was so obvious through the phone what was happening when she started to sniffle. "I missed your voice so much, Scar."

For a moment, Scar wasn't sure if there was anyone there. Obviously, she could hear the gum chewing, but at this point she didn't know it was Jaide's coping mechanism... Tears welled up while she waited to say anything... She didn't want to overwhelm Jaide suddenly by blasting her mouth off.

"Hey, babe."

Scar fucking broke.

The pen dropped to her desk. Tears, running down her cheeks as her heart threatened to either explode in her chest or to crawl up her esophagus and choke her, fell on the desk after the pen like rain.

"I missed your voice so much, Scar."

She was not wearing her Jax-proof make up today, hell all she had on was a bit of máscara and foundation... It was a day of physical labor for her after all... So it didn't take long for the tears to stain her cheeks black as she started to silently sob.

For weeks she had been thinking and debating on what she would say to Jaide for the first time... There was anger, pain, love, loneliness and at the same time her heart told her she was making a huge mistake and would lose everything if she fucked up... This phone call could make or break Scar's life. She didn't take her first words lightly.

"Every night, after I've put the kids to bed and Jax is out doing hoodrat shit with his boys or his side bitches, I crawl in bed by myself... And every single fucking night the only thing I want in the world is to feel your god damn body next to mine... I miss your voice, your hands, that little squeak you make when I pop up behind you and startle you, your fucking hair and face and everything else about you. Jax and I have fucked so many hos trying to fill this fucking void in our hearts." Scar ground out between light sobs, sitting at her desk and shaking. She reached out to her newest habit; a vape pen with a refillable cartridge and she took a huge hit and let the nicotine filled vape fill her lungs before exhaling. "Not even replaying all that shit you said that night makes it go away. There's not enough booze, drugs or sex in the world that makes it ever go away... The only time I fall asleep not craving you is when he's home in bed fucking me numb. And I'm pretty sure he's in the same place, and I absolutely hate that we can't be complete without you even after all these years of trying..."

By now, the tears had lessened at least and Scar pulled a napkin out and tries cleaning up her make up in the little mirror by her desk. "You uh... Caught me at a perfect time. I'm by myself at the studio right now. Late spring cleaning. I'm... Glad Che gave you the pictures... I know Jax is going to gut me and leave me in the street if he ever finds out..."

It was a reality she was willing to deal with convinced if she played these cards right that Jaide would be back in the fold by the end of the year. "Congrats on your year of sobriety. I'm... Really proud of you. Che seems really proud too, and we both know that man doesn't show shit he doesn't want others to see... Fuck... I... Jaide..."

She didn't know what else to say to the woman she had been missing so desperately.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck FUCK.

This was too much! She couldn't do this! She didn't deserve this. She needed to hang up. She needed to run. She needed to get out of this motel room! She needed to- her arm started to itch. It was the arm that was holding the phone, her right arm. Right where the forearm met the bicep. There was ink there to cover it all up, but if she looked closely she could still see her favorite vein, her favorite injection site. That itch was how it started, the beginning of that needle calling her back to being that bitch that she didn't want to be anymore. That bitch that she wasn't anymore, but didn't have the self-confidence to accept. The whole time that Scar talked, Jaide just sobbed, a waterfall of ugly tears flowing down her face and mixing with snot above her lip. She tried to wipe everything away. The tears kept coming, but at least the snot was stopping.

Jaide didn't cry. Jax never cried. It just wasn't their way of processing emotion. Their way of processing emotion was to fuck it away. They didn't let little things like reality, or the fact that they did cry like normal people from time to time, get in the way of that lie that they told themselves. But Jaide was full on sobbing now and she knew that Scar could hear her. At some point the gum in her mouth just vanished. She didn't know if she'd swallowed it on accident or if it had fallen out. It didn't matter.

"Congrats on your year of sobriety. I'm... Really proud of you." MotherFUCK. Jaide could do this. She had to do this. But God, it was hard, so damn hard. A lot harder than crawling back into that needle and forgeetting the world. She hadn't started out on heroin - who the fuck did!? It had been the oxys and the percs and all those painkillers that the hospital gave her after the pregnancy. When the scripts ran out it was easier to get more, the Regs had dozens of pill mills all over Oak Hills and she'd already had enough ink to get the family discount. Jax and Scar had even gone to pick up pills for her from time to time on weekends when she was really hurting. She'd spent the last two or three months of senior year in a near constant haze of opiates. But she played sober well and the two other teens in the Trio hadn't been able to tell the difference between a little more than casual use and total dependency. It hadn't been until Jax exiled her that she slipped fully into Heroin. When he was in prison she'd dip a little bit on her joints, make it look like she was getting better and just smoking weed, but once she got out of rehab that first time and realized how serious he had been- she went straight to the needle.

She was not going back!

The sound of her gritting her teeth and her fist hitting the dresser was probably scary for Scar to hear, but Jaide was angry now. She was fighting a battle and she was going to win. She was going to say what she needed to say and she was going to stay sober no matter what.

"Fuck- Scar. I'm so-so fucking sorry for everything. For the drugs, and the things I said, oh fuck I wish I could take every fucking word back. I'm just so fucking sorry. Fuck." There was a pause, the briefest moment of silence, and just before Scar spoke again Jaide cut her off. "You need to hang up babe, you need to lose whatever burner you're talking on. I can't fuck you two up anymore. I can't let you get fucked up over my fuck-up." She was sincere, if the choice was between life without them- without JJ, and Jax feeling like he needed to hurt Scar, then she'd take life without them than letting them do that. Still, she didn't have the strength to hang up. Scar had always been her real drug.

"Can't let me get fucked up over your fuck up...... Jesus H Christ, Jaide I've been fucked up for years because of it already... The day I gave birth I looked to my right and instead of you fucking there to kiss me and tell me how pretty our baby girl was I had a drunk Kate giggling because I was bawling like a little bitch because there was a 5'5" gaping black hole in my heart. I refused an epidural, I was so scared they were going to fuck me up like they did you that I made sure to shut that shit down..." Scar sat there puffing on her vape and trying not to start crying again.

"Baby... We're dying without you... In that deep metaphorical sense that every day the crowns on our head get heavier... Joan's got me running street shit and directing and writing scripts, Jax runs his stuff and makes his money... The kids... JJ is the best fucking big brother I could ask for, even when he's annoyed with her chubby ass for screeching in the middle of a cutscene," Scar managed a little chuckle in there. Mostly because the head image was hilarious; disgruntled JJ with a controller in his lap patiently trying to get Izzy to quiet down so he could hear... JJ reading books to Izzy... Him letting him strum a string on his guitar the other day... These were all things Scar wanted Jaide to be able to see.

The red head wasn't sure how long she sat there, thinking and listening to anything Jaide may have to say in return, looking at the bracelet she kept around her wrist, at least when she was completely alone. The moment people showed up it got tucked away. "I heard your phone call with Jax. Heard that fire in your voice when you basically told him to fuck off... It cracked something in Jax, even if he's been hiding it well. Between business, Izzy's party and everything he's been able to bury it a little but I felt a shift and I feel like if there's ever been a time to try this, it's now... Look I understand if you don't want to. If you don't trust me. I'm not even sure how much I trust you. But I know I love you, and frankly I don't think either of us can live without you. I don't want to have another baby without you by my side, or waste another year feeling this incomplete and watching Jax walk away from me whenever something reminds him of you. I'm not willing to grow old without you sandwiched in bed with us... Let me come see you. I need to see you... And I'll figure things out with Jax as it goes, but I know he wants you back just as much as I do."

It was a gamble. She could lose everything. But for a woman who had already lost everything once before, and who felt like her world had crumbled when Jaide left, Scar felt like she had more to gain from this.

Only Scar could go from the deepest call out that made Jaide want to just scream and curse at her in a way that actually meant Jaide loved her- to that little contagious chuckle about how cute their babies were together and how good of a big brother JJ had turned into without turning into a hood rat like Jaide or Jax had needed to turn into. Jaide had only really gotten to experience being a sibling when she had been getting clean out on the Rez, meeting her siblings in Che's real family, plus a few other bastards that had shown up over time. She ahd actively run away from the idea of being a sister when her mother had married a sailor with multiple little kids already. If Jax had ever had the opportunity to be a big brother he likely would've killed someone for messing with them by now. And the thought of what a Jackson-Little-Sister would've looked like. And that mental image just broke Jaide. She was still crying, but she was also laughing too.

"I fucking love you, red. You dumb slut." Jaide said, and it was normal Jaide, saying things Jaide would have said to Scar that really meant she loved her even if she was being moody or in the mood to play with that degradation kink she knew Scarlet had, or a thousand other reasons why Jaide couldn't just say 'I love you' like a normal person under normal circumstances. She always had to add something else in there that showed that she was a 'bad bitch' and not one of the 'pussies'. Because the ghetto life was just PTSD with extra steps. Her psychiatrist at rehab had had a fucking field day trying to diagnose her and handle all of the crazy shit that was going on in her head. Especially since Jaide didn't trust anything she was prescribed anymore. Not that she didn't have good reason to.

Things got serious for a moment after that, talking about the phone call that she had had with Jax. She had been so pissed at Jax for what he had said, it had taken her a minute to figure out that he had been testing her. Jax had always been smart about that shit, while Jaide was more- impulsive. The psychiatrist said it was probably ADHD, but Jaide wasn't looking for labels for everything that was broken about her brain at this point. She had quite opiates completely, cut back on smoking and cut back on drinking a ton so she was good for the moment. She wasn't looking to basically getting hooked on amphetamines to maybe, possibly keep her brain stable.

"Let me come see you, I need to see you."

For a few seconds Jaide's heart stopped and her breath hitched. There was nothing else she wanted in the whole world. But there was nothing else she knew that could cause more trouble than that either. It was a huge gamble. A gamble the responsible part of her brain wanted to reject, to scream that she didn't want Scar so bad that she'd risk her life. But those words couldn't come out of her mouth. They wouldn't come out of her mouth. Reaching out she put another piece of gum in her mouth. Instead she whispered three words, trusting Scar to work out everything else.

"I can't wait."

Past Days
----
She was every school boys dream. Walking down these strange halls in her shortest Catholic school skirt, black shirt that framed those DD cups perfectly, every guy turned to notice her. There was a little strut to her steps. She still looked like every bit the Catholic school slut she was, realistically, and that seemed to be doing it for the crowd. It wasn't the guys she was interested in though, she was half eying up the girls trying to figure out if there was a single lesbian in this place or if high school was now going to be boring.

Scar still remembered the first time she saw Jaide, locker next to hers. Jax had his tongue shoved so deep in her mouth, the blushing red head next to them couldn't help but be impressed. She didn't know their names just then, but she couldn't help her eyes roaming down Jaide's tan arms and down to the junction where the two horny teenagers were grinding.

The red haired new girl shook her head and grabbed her books, trying to make this class in time. What she didn't expect was to plop her happy ass in a seat in the back of the class, only to see the same couple that had been playing tonsil hockey next to her a few minutes earlier saunter in. Jax was draped over Jaide's shoulder whispering in her ear and making her laugh.

Scar gulped, her panties a little wetter at the sound of the brunette's laugh. Fuck. Not a crush on the first day?! How fucking corny was that… "Great…" Scar sunk further into her seat and started reviewing the syllabus from her last class like the OCD straight A student she was.

As wrapped up as she was she didn't notice a third girl join them, the three of them whispering and occasionally looking over and the newest addition of their class.

Roll call came. "Jax? Surprised you joined us today, what a pleasant surprise! Josephine Lawrence? Ah, you're our newest addition. Why don't you introduce yourself to the class, go ahead and stand up!" Scarlet looked mortified as every eye turned to her and her raised hand. The male teacher stood there staring at her until she stood up and looked around the room. Just a sea of faces she didn't know. Just more people to try to use her like Bela did…

"Hi… I actually preferred to be called Scarlet. Don't call me Josie. Last person to call me that got her nose broken and me kicked out of Catholic school," she sat down after her quick speech that drew a few chuckles around the room. Scar was glad when the syllabus was read and class was done.

An hour later at lunch was where her whole life changed. Scar had seen Jaide walking up to the table after setting her tray down by a bunch of friends and the guy that Scar could only assume was her boyfriend, but never figured it'd lead to where it did.

Jaide was the first person to call her Scarlet. The first to make her feel welcome and invite her to the table. If it hadn't been for Jaide that day, Scar never would have met Jax who gave her a smile that made her wonder if she was really so gay after all…

Present Day

Scarlet stared up at the motel. So far her plan had worked perfectly. Kate had the kids, Jax was… otherwise occupied and probably would be for several hours judging by the predicament he had been left in with one of her newest hires, Monae. Scar almost felt bad for lying like this… but it was for the greater good.

Much like that first day at Oak Hills, she was dressed to kill but this time it was a very different vision. The red halter top was just enough to cover her now much larger tits, thanks to Izzy, and she paired it with black ripped booty shorts, and Scar wasn't even sure if she was capable of walking without heels on. Her hair was down, just like that first morning. She looked at the motel and considered if she should be here or not before marching over to the room number she had memorized for the last two days.

The knock was an unsure 'tap tap tap'.

Days Gone By

If Jaide's jaw hadn't been occupied with sucking on Jax's bottom lip while their tongues played that game of Jaide's pretending it was a bad bitch only to roll over easy for Jax in an instant it would have hit the floor when she laid eyes on the new girl. She had definitely dressed to impress, in comparison to most of the hoodrats who just worked on avoiding dress code violations or getting creeped on too much by some of the teachers. Oak Hills High wasn't exactly a destination of choice for most young teachers fresh out of college. If a teacher ended up here, they were either really dedicated or no where else would take them. More often the latter than the former.

Jaide wasn't thinking about shit like pervy teachers at the moment though, she was busing grinding her crotch straight into Jax's getting every little bit of friction she could to try to put out fhe fire that was going on between her legs. She hadn't dressed up too much for her school today. Tight blue jeans that hugged her ass, a navy blue top that barely hid her belly button ring and a push-up bra underneath that turned her barely there- B cups into the illusions of C's. Jax's eyes were shut as their lips pulled away, a trail of saliva connecting their mouths before he pressed his lips against Jaide's neck on the opposite side from Scar. This gave Jaide the change to size up the new girl, and make eye contact with her, running her hand back in her brown hair to reveal the tattoo behind her left ear, a red star with a black thirteen in the middle of it. Jaide wasn't a star-fucker, she was a straight up Regulator bitch.

It was easy to pretend that that little extra dampness between her legs was from the mauling Jax was giving her neck, and not the way that ass looked swaying from side to side as it walked away to class. Jaide and Jax barely made it to class before the bell rang. Jax was whispering all kinds of sexy things into Jaide's ear, and Jaide wasn't laughing, she was full on giggling! Jaide spared a glance for the red head with the tits the size of Jaide's head, most girls would be a little insecure around a girl that looked like that, especially with a boyfriend with Wandering Dick Syndrome as bad as Jax's, but Jaide didn't feel insecure in the slightest looking at the red head. Though she did look away quickly before she could get caught.

When Scarlet introduced herself, Marisol rolled her eyes and whispered under her breath, "This bitch is fake as fuck." The girl from the ghetto wasn't impressed by the suburban girl who showed up to her first day dressed like a whole hoe buffet, but then tried to talk trash when she introduced herself like she actually had any respect on her name. Jaide did have to admit that it wasn't the best introduction that could be made, someone would definitely need to show her the ropes or she was going to get into some serious trouble. They were maybe fifty white kids in the whole school of two thousand, she was like throwing steak into a cage full of tigers.

When Jaide saw Scarlet later at lunch, she made her decision on an impules, the tables in the cafeteria sat eight and OG crew made seven. So before anyone else could take that last seat, or some of those skinheads that were eyeing her up could make a play, Jaide made her own move.

"Hey! Scarlet, you're seats right here!" Jaide had all but commaned patting the open seat next to her. The rest had been history.

Present Day

If Scarlet could've been more specific about the time she would get there then she would've been, but Jaide absolutely hated waiting to find out whether she had gotten away or not. Take Jaide on a stakeout, or any hoodrat shit where she needed to sit still and be patient then she would be the perfect soldier. Have her wait for literally anything else and she would start to go stir crazy. Jaide had bopped down to the liquor store on the corner the night before and picked up a bottle of vodka and some orange juice, thinking the two might just chill and drink screw drivers or something like they used to as kids, vodka had been plentiful at the Jackson house, and the liquor store hadn't had any of the other brands that Jaide remembered Scar liking.

Her morning had been pretty mundane as it was, a swim in the pool as soon as it opened up to try and clear her head, then a breakfast of motel cereal, yogurt, a banana and a sausage biscuit (after checking five times that it was beef and not ham) and she'd been left with hours to wile away while she waited for either the love of her life to show up at the door, or for the other love of her life to show up and put a cap in her ass for trying this stunt at all. It would've been nerve racking if the waiting wasn't so boring. The clock on the nightstand ticked by the hours and Jaide lay on the bed flicking her switchblade open and closed while wearing nothing but an oversized flannel shirt that went to about mid-thigh. Her hair took absolutely forever to dry.

When those nervous knocks came on the door she knew that Scar had managed to ditch her tail and that the plan had worked. That they would have hours, if not the whole day, to be with each other again. Jaide had imagined so many ways it could go, had rehearsed what she was going to say a thousand times. But in the moment of it all, she just stabbed her switchblade into the nightstand and leapt up, barely looking through the peephole before opening the door. There was a moment of pause as Jaide took all of Scar in; her eyes widening at just how huge her tits had gotten and how good she looked post pregnancy. For a moment she thought that Scar had gotten taller than her, then she realized that it was just the heels. Everything went by so fast that all she could think to say was, "Oh fuck." And then she leapt forward to cup Scar's cheeks and crash their lips and bodies together.

In all of the excitement she had forgotten to put on pants.

Scarlet didn't break down immediately, that was a good sign. Instead her eyes went from Jaide's feet and all the way up those naked legs to that oversized flannel shirt and finalized on the eyes and hair that were almost exactly as Scar remembered.

Their bodies clashed, Scarlet's softer and more feminine than ever as she surged forward, shutting the door behind her and moaning straight into Jaide's lips. Her backpack hit the floor next to the now closed door. She had brought so many things to show Jaide, to let her get caught up with their world again. This was about the emotional reconnecting as much as anything else. She knew her love would have questions. She wanted to give her what answers she could.

How, after so much time could she tasted exactly how Scar remembered, just a lot less weed and booze covering it up? The red head didn't fucking care. All she cared about was wrapping her arms around Jaide, her hands sliding down to the taller girl's naked ass to grip tightly as she guided her back to the bed.

From that perfect ass, Scar's hands roamed straight up Jaide's sides to her nipples and their mouths parted only so Jaide could have her neck devoured by her little sub bitch... "No pants? Just for me?" Scar smirked against the tender flesh of her throat, teasing lovingly as her those long manicured nails dug into Jaide's hips as they crashed landed on the bed together. "I've missed you so much. I love you so much. I brought lots of stuff to do and show you. We have all evening together, Jax won't be done until late and the kids are having a sleepover party at Kate's..."

Scar pulled away enough just to look down at the body underneath her... To see that woman that she had been craving for so long. And she didn't know how to proceed from there... Should they just fuck and get it over with so they could think clearly? Or should they hold back and not move so fast? Scar hadn't quite expected the passionate response even though in all of the run downs in her head she desperately had hoped to be writhing together on a motel bed... Her fingers fiddling with buttons as if she couldn't decide whether to undress Jaide all the way or not. "I... Don't want to push this too far... I'm not just here for your body even if all I want to do is sit on your face and eat you out until we pass out..."

From the moment their lips touched Jaide's whole body was exploding with passion like she hadn't felt in years. In the haze of opioids and pain she had added many notches to her body count, men and women both, but none of them had made her feel the way Scarlet and Jax did with so simple of a touch as this. The grip of her nails on Jaide's ass brought back so many memories as they propelyed themselves through the space until Jaide was crashing onto the bed, letting out a little squick as she bounced on the surprisingly firm mattress. The touch to her nipples had sent her to another world for a moment and any thought of handling anything else besides the throbbing need between her thighs had vanished from her mind. It'd been too long since she had been touched like this, kissed like this. Love like this.

The truly amazing part was how much had changed and still stayed the same about the two women from when they were barely out of girlhood and navigating the awkwardness of teenage-momdom. Jaide had always been the more 'butch' of the two, or as little of a meaning as that had for the badass bisexual, theStreet had required that she stayed fit, ready to run or knife when necessary. Her new fitness routine had kept her tight, her ass becoming even better with the amount of squats she was doing. Despite that, the workout that was hauling around baby Izzy had put Scar in a place where if she wanted Jaide to move somewhere, Jaide would move .

"I thought you might want a snack after your drive." Jaide joked, the white lie obvious on her face. Any other lie Jaide was perfect on, but covering up for things like she had lost track of time and forgotten to put any other clothes on. It was the little bit of embarrassment that played across her cheeks that let someone who knew her catch her in the lie. But all Jaide could really think about in the moment was the way Scar's fingers were playing with her buttons and how perfect that lock of red hair would look between her legs. Jaide wrapped her left calf above Scar's ass and pulled her in between her legs, a satisfied grin playing on her lips.

"Scar shut up and show me you haven't forgotten how to really kiss." Jaide said, confidence returning for a moment, there was no thought in the moment, it was all automatic and just like that they were sub and domme again. At least in Jaide's mind. There would be time for thoughts once she'd got her nut.

Scar hadn't exactly explained what she wanted him to do very well. Sure she had told him about this really fine bitch who was starting to work at Phantasies who had a slight attitude problem, namely she didn't fuck white boys and had been talking shit. Which was fine, everyone was entitled their own opinion, except for the fact that she was a working girl and new, which meant she didn't get to be that picky when it came to who she worked with. Jax hadn't asked at what level the girl worked for at for Phantasies, whether she was part of Scar's new street level responsibilities, if she was in the escort service, or just making movies. He didn't really care. All that Scar had given him was her address, when she would be there, and that she needed the problem solved.

So of course, Jax's plan was to solve the problem with his dick.

His Camaro was conspicuous in the parking lot of the apartment building that the girl he was looking for lived in, alongside all of the rundown junkers and other trash cars sitting outside of the graffiti covered building. Tyler was watching Scar for the day, about once a month Scar got to have a day to herself, but even then she needed to be looked after, and Jax had two guys watching his back from another car further down the way. Mostly looking out for cops given how deep into Oak Hills this apartment was. Stepping up to the apartment building Jax didn't need to wait long to find a way in, sweet old lady needed help with her groceries. Then he followed the room numbers until he came to the one that Scar had giveen him. An authoritative knock announced his presence, and he was ready when the door finally opened.

"Hey, Monae right? I'm Jax. Scar told you I was going to be dropping by right?" Jax asked her with his panty dropper grin on his face as he shamelessly checked her out from top to bottom. As for him, he was wearing his Regs' hoodie again, jeans, and combat boots. Plus his gun and knife. The bulge in his hoodie pocket was enough weed and coke for them to party on all day. The thought never occured to him how a girl new to the Street might find a large, white gang leader rolling up to your crib to 'talk' a bit intimidating.

Scar all but ripped that flannel off of her with ease, mouth diving straight for a hard nipple and pulling it into her mouth. There was no gentleness behind her touch, just raw love and need for the woman laying below her.

Those red lips abused the fuck out of Jaide's breasts, as her hands felt every other inch of skin her mouth wasn't covering. "Damn have I missed you... No woman compares to you..."

Scar meant every word she said as she kissed her way down that toned stomach and gripped Jaide's legs and spread them. Even if Jaide was the domme, there was one thing Jaide typically let her control and it was this. Her tongue circled Jaide's clit a few times as her fingers kneaded the soft thighs she was gripping.

And then for the first time in far too long, Scar got a taste of what she'd been missing so much. She ran her tongue down along that slit, slipping between the lips and diving her tongue deeper. "Fuck... You taste better than y ever..." And suddenly Scar had her face fully buried in between Jaide's legs as she devoured her pussy.

She had only been in Haven City a month. This place was trash. But so was home. New York City was just as full of filth... Maybe that's why she had ended up here, in this crap apartment, splitting her work time between studio and stripping. Really, she was appreciative to Joan and Scar for the work, but she and the red haired Queen were already butting heads. See Monae exclusively fucked black men, and Scar kept trying to tell her there wasn't much in their market for exclusively straight black woman vs black man... Lots of interracial, lots of lesbian, among other things... They had reached an impasse the other day when Scar said she had something that would change the 21-year-old's mind.

Monae was finishing up her work out when the knock came, the kind of knock that the 5-0 gave when they were coming to arrest someone. She had forgotten all about Scar's mentioning Jax coming over for some 'training' or that the red headed woman had initially joked about knowing a white dick anyone would kill to fuck. She certainly didn't make the fucking connection even if Scarlet had mentioned it. She had been too busy denying white dick and getting pissed at her boss for not listening.

She was still soaked and sweat and in a sports bra and yoga pants when she answered the door. The handsome white guy at the door didn't look like a cop, but that didn't mean shit around here as far as Monae was concerned. The city she had come from was similar in that fact, that cops had learned how to blend. Either way he was a hell of a lot taller than the 5'4" tattoo'd beauty and she knew just vía rep that he could take her out if she back talked too much.

Jax quickly introduced himself and Monae blinked and eyed him up and down, squirming at that smile... How the hell was this guy so hot? She had seen his picture on Scarlet's desk, with Scar and two kids. This wasn't just any white guy, this was a danger gang leader. "Scar mentioned a white guy any girl in this city would kill to fuck, I didn't realize it was her old man..." there was a lot of attitude in her voice, it was clear she hadn't quite learned her place in the Streets yet, especially when it came to Scarlet. "Uh,come in. Sorry, I didn't realize she was serious about this, I figured she was joking to be honest. Yeah, I'm Monae Michaels."

She moved to the side and let him into the small studio apartment. The kitchen was right off the door, just a narrow room with enough space for a single person to cook. The rest of the apartment was pretty barren, queen sized bed in the corner of the room, a couch and a TV sitting on a coffee table. Immediately to their left was the bathroom. There was a yoga mat on the floor which she bent over to pick up and roll up.

Jaide's nipples ahd always been very sensitive, a fact that Jax and Scarlet had taken particular delight in over the years. They had made plenty of games out of teasing her nipples and trying to get her as worked up as possible without touching her anywhere else. The first time Jaide and Scarlet had learned that she could cum just from having her nipples stimulated had led to many tortorous and humiliating incidents of Scarlet seeing if she could give Jaide an orgasm without being noticed in as many public places as possible. From the moment that Scarlet's lips returned to Jaide's breasts her mind was gone. All of her brain power had shifted to that bead with 80,000 nerves between her legs, her hips bucking and the most embarrassing moan escaping her lips.

Her mind and voice only came back to her temporarily as Scarlet kissed her way down Jaide's body. "You like the new ink?" Jaide asked playfully before a loud grunt escaped her lips at her brown thighs being pushed open. Jaide was one of those lucky few girls who just turned into a beautiful golden brown after enough time in the sun, and Jaide didn't have a single tan line on her despite having spent plenty of time out by the pool since getting to the motel. Back on 13th Street she'd never been able to get enough sun to avoid that. If there was one thing that Scar could pull off well was playing a power bottom when she was particularly pussy hungry and Jaide. Was. Here. For. It.

As soon as Scar's tongue got to doing what it did best Jaide let out another moan and reached above her head to grip the headboard as she squirmed. It quickly became a contest between Jaide's thighs and Scarlet's arms to see who was really in control in this moment while the Latina Jewish girl fell in love all over again with the image of the redheaded shiksa between her thighs.

Most people in Oak Hills, if they got an unannounced visit from any Reg, let alone anyone even close to being as high up as Jax, they'd be worried that they were about to leave their apartment wrapped up in a carpet. It was serious bad news to get his attention without knowing what you had done. Sure, the Regulators whole purpose was to protect the community and keep the bodies from dropping anywhere they couldn't be explained away, but if they thought you were a threat or a problem for the community then they took you out with extreme prejudice. Jax didn't even need to say a word to emphasize how quickly he could do serious physical and financial harm to people Monae's size and status. People from Oak Hills got the point quickly, and a lot of out-of-towners learned the way things worked quickly too.

These New York bitches though, they came out West, couldn't make it in LA because they were average bitches in New York or LA, but drop them in Haven City where they were 8's and 9's and they suddenly thought that they could have an attitude. As Jax's eyes roamed over Monae's body he silently thanked Scarlet, this was exactly what he needed to work out all of the stress that Jaide was causing in his mind. Stretching out he let out a groan and looked around the space, nodding his head as if to say 'not bad, not bad.' Then turned his eyes to Monae enjoying the viewe as she bent over to get the mattress.

"Yeah so I figured I'd stop by, see how you were doing, how you were settling in and everything. I like making sure my girls land right." He said letting that possessive statement hang in the air for a second before adding, "I'm what you might call Joan's silent partner." He explained before reaching into his hoodie pocket and setting an ounce of weed, an ounce of cocaine, $2500 and a pipe and some rolling paper onto the kitchen counter. He left them there without a word and looked at Monae for her reaction, that 'you're going to be sucking your juices out of your panties by the time i'm done with you' smile staying on his face as he cocked an eyebrow towards her.
