Welcome! Let's shoot the breeze here so the innocent family doesn't have to get shot, ha ha. Even if you haven't submitted a profile yet, you're welcome to post here while you're working on it.
 
Did I forget to link the IC thread? I'll put it up in the recruitment/interest check thread if it's not already there. But we've already started, so you're welcome to jump in once you're ready.
 
@Mathim I thought the plan was for the break in to be at night, when my char had just taken some erection pills and come home?
 
Not quite, the dad was pretending to go to work in the morning and would surprise his wife by instead taking the day off and coming home early.
 
I'll of course defer to the GM but I believe the general RP idea was for Dad to head off to work, thinking that Mom would then drive the Kids to school (or shoo them into their cars to drive themselves.) Then Dad's plan was to pop a Viagra as he called in sick or clocked out or whatever, and then come home for a day of pre-vacation loving with Mom starting early (say mid-morning. ) Only two problems with that: 1. Mom told the Kids they could stay home today, to get ready for the Family vacation and 2. There might just be some other folks at home by the time Dad returns.
 
OH! Okay, I had it remembered CLOSE to correctly. So I need to post Dad leaving but thinking that today is going to be much better than it turns out to be.
 
Yeah, even Dad is clueless that mom is going to let the kids stay home, which would have spoiled their fun. Him coming home unexpectedly does throw in a slight variable with the intruders' plan but shouldn't pose a problem.
 
If you look in the Character Profile thread, it looks like Falica (Mom) & Colonel Liam (Son) now know we've started. My suggestion would be to move forward with what we have now, but keep recruitment open & have other characters drop in if interest increases. (i.e. A third daughter could come home after having spent the night with a friend or whatever.) But it's of course Mathim's call as the GM.

Recruitment is always ongoing, certainly, so that isn't an issue. Late arrivals can be discussed on a case-by-case basis as they appear.
 
Greetings all, grey here obviously. So Mathim, Degenerate Art and I have set up a PM conversation to coordinate what the Invaders will do in this RP. In that conversation we’ve come to two conclusions: 1. That the RP has gotten off to an excellent start but 2. It seems to be in danger of stalling and dying (which would be a shame.) FWIW we think the former because everyone has come up with some great characters and put down solid introductory posts, and the latter because the posting has been rather sporadic. (A quick caveat: The latter point is simply an observation and not an attempt to point fingers or put pressure on anyone in any way. We understand that RL comes first, the holiday season can be especially busy and that communication about the start of the IC thread also may not have been the best.)

So in an effort to get this promising group RP back in gear and with Mathim’s blessing (as the OP/GM) we’re asking folks to do two things in response to this post (which I’m going to also PM to all the participants, to make sure it’s seen by everyone):

1. Let us know if you’re still interested in this group RP by replying either to this OOC thread post, to the PM or (best option) adding another post to the IC thread itself. This will let us know if we still have a critical mass for the RP, need to replace or write around anyone etc. If you don’t want to continue that’s certainly your call, no questions asked and if you just want to ghost away that’s fine too – if we haven’t heard from you by Monday or so, we’ll just figure you’re no longer interested.

2. If you are still interested, please keep in mind that the general flow of this RP (as envisioned by Mathim and based on the original source material) will be as follows:

a. Setting the scene via some introductory posts. This step has largely been completed in a very solid way.

b. Dad leaves the house, ostensibly for work, when he thinks it’s appropriate but ideally sooner rather than later; this is absolutely critical, because it is what will trigger the next step. (In conjunction with this Mom optionally might want to tell/remind the Kids they don’t have to go to school today, but that’s not a big deal.)

c. Shaun (the leader of the Invaders) initiates the home invasion, kicking off the main part of the RP.

d. Dad pops his Viagra and returns to the house whenever he wants to, only to discover that it’s not just Mom waiting for him. (Uh oh!)

Sound like a plan? And if you have any questions about any of the above, just ask!

P.S. In the course of our chatting, us Invaders have realized the above structure may be a tad overcomplicated for BMR, and that if it were to be tried again it’d probably be best to simplify it. Live and learn and all that, but for right now we’d like to see if we can get this off the ground as is. Cheers!
 
I'll be traveling and unlikely to post again until 12/24 at the earliest. Feel free to leave MC brooding in the utility room if any Reindeer Games begin before then. Happy Holidays!
 
Looks like things are kicking off. Real talk, though, I am not getting any alerts, which is not a good sign. I have the threads watched, but still nothing.
 
I've had a bit of a mood shift that's kept me from being enthused enough to post lately myself.
 
I am still getting alerts for the rp, so that's odd your not. Oh and Bishop, I'll be playing her rather realistically so watch out! ;)
 
Regarding the Alerts I'm still getting them, though sometimes a second post shortly after a first won't show up. But I think that's how the Alert system is supposed to work.

@XxxJabberWockyxxX Thanks for the heads up; Deke and I welcome the challenge! :cool: FWIW I've been enjoying how you've been writing Sam; I definitely see a lot of potential for her and Deke to interact in interesting ways as this RP (hopefully) evolves. We shall see!
 
I’m scared (interested) to see Sams reaction to seeing Baxter after Deke’s misinformation campaign. Seems like there might be some potential for Stockholm syndrome.
