Callista sat waiting in the bedroom, fearing why he did not come to her. The sun was already set and he had not arrived. This brought a new possibility for her fate to the table. This one was one she never thought she'd have to face. But if he did not come... Callista hung her head and gently began to cry. She truly had to be flawed! Perhaps it was for the best. If the man she was in love with did not want her... to die for Aphrodite might just be the only thing she was good for...
"AGATONE!" A woman's voice called rang out on the docks. "AGATONE PLEASE WAIT!!!" Turning, he would see that it was Callista's mother, running down the docks towards him. The moment she reached him, she fell to her knees before him, grasping onto his tunic, "Please! Agtone please! You can't leave! You can't go! Don't let my baby die please!" Letting go of his tunic, she bowed even further down towards the ground, begging him in an almost shameful manner. Every eye on the dock was watching them now. "You MUST complete the ritual! If you leave now, and Callista returns to the temple still a maiden, she will be deemed unworthy of her training. A failure unable to make the man she loves love her back. She will not be allowed to live! They will sacrifice her to Aphrodite! A virgin sacrifice! You cannot let my baby die! Please!"
Back at his home, the sun was long set now, and she was still alone. He was not coming. With a broken heart, Callista decided it was better to just return to the temple in shame. Better to leave now before her family found out and tried to stop her in the morning. Little did she know, Agatone's parents had already told hers. While her mother was down at the docks with him, her father was standing watch at her door, ready to stop her from leaving. When she opened the door, ready to leave with nothing but the clothing on her back (for who needed anything more when they were returning to their death), her father was right there. "You are not leaving..."
"Father, don't do this. He does not want me, the rules of the ritual are clear."
"You have until sunrise! He could still come to you!"
"No father... he will not come. He does not want me. He does not love me. I have failed."
"You are NOT leaving here!" But Callista was not listening. She turned from her father, ignoring all his protests and started to walk away from him. He followed her close at her heels. He would not be physical with her until it became desperate for it, until then, he just followed her and continued his protests.
Agatone's parent's were watching nearby. Whatever happened between the two last night, they both hoped that their son could put it aside and make things right still.
