Serik's afternoon was dull, after his father had yelled at him for not returning home the night before so that he could be yelled at for his choice of date. The headlines of the morning paper, as he had expected, were exaggerated and while the official comment was printed, their actions hadn't shown "close friends" and so there was gossip, too. Serik was amused by it all, even if his parents were not.
"You are betrothed!"
He sighed. "Doesn't mean I'm going to go through with it, mother," he answered, bored, as he stood in a mirror to straighten his tie for his date.
"You must! You can carry on with your...dalliances, but discreetly, of course."
"No, mother. I will not be discreet about being with a man who I care deeply for." The doorbell rang and the blond squealed a little, running to answer it despite his mother's disapproving looks.
"It's only been one date, Serik!"
"Yes, mother," he answered before pulling the door open. "But it was what happened after the date that made me fall for him." The blond winked at her and opened the door, smiling widely.
