On the outside, Nikkos was holding himself together fairly well. But Calder could see past that and he pushed until his old friend broke. He needed to get the emotions out because throwing a book at Tomias's face wasn't enough. Though that part of the story made him smile a little simply for the fact that he had hurt Nikkos. Calder sat with him and let him rage and cry and, finally, sleep. The blond could only hope that it had helped Nikkos cleanse some of the hurt so that it wouldn't eat away at him and destroy him.

A few weeks went by and Tomias was positively torn to shreds. His love had not even called. He made no contact whatsoever and it made him worse and worse. He started out being all right. Few days. He needed the time. Then, as the other still did not come back, Tomias' self esteem dropped. He no longer cared what he looked like. Going to class in pajama pants and shirts. The latest, he showed up in boxers and nothing and, well, Relic and rune made him go back home.

The longer-haired male was now sitting out in their garden. Beard messy and his green eyes staring in front of him as he did so. Where was he? Nikkos truly did hate him. Now, he was just waiting to have a notice for a divorce. He did not want that, but it seemed to be the route they were going. Oh god he did not want that!

After a couple of weeks, Nikkos had convinced himself that he would not attempt to murder his husband. No. He loved Tomias. The man exaspirated him sometimes. And he had hurt him, but Nikkos still loved him. Taking a deep breath, the brunette stepped into their home and dropped his bag by the front door as he walked through to find Tomias. Finding him in the garden, Nikkos shut the wall around his heart, unable to help it. He was hurt and it was the only way he knew how to protect himself. Still, he couldn't help poking a little fun...

"I hope you used sunscreen or else you will have to explain to the doctors just why you have third degree burns...there."

Tomias perked up, hearing the other's voice and he gasped. "MY LOVE!" He quickly bolted up and rushed toward him. He instantly collapsed to his knees, lips kissing along the other's feet and whimpering a few more times. "Oh, nikkos! I've missed you so much!" he kissed his feet a few more times before looking up at him with a pathetic look to his features. "I ... I know I was wrong! I know that now. And I know that you won't forgive me right away. I ... I know you better than that. I'm hopeful! But ... um... Just ... just don't leave me. I'll make it up to you with my blood. WIth our many more years of life together. I will prove to you I will never ever lie to you again if I have to tell you everything I'm doing every minute of the day!" Drastic, yes, but he did not like the idea of having him leave again.

Nikkos shrugged and stepped away from Tomias, not ready to allow physical contact, even if his shoes were between their flesh. "That wall you broke down all those years ago?" He gave his husband a meaningful look until he was sure that Tomias understood. "You have your work cut out for you." It wasn't fair to not tell the other man what he would be up against, and it would be doing to Tomias exactly what he'd done to him, though on a different level. "I'll be sleeping in the guest room." He turned to bring his bag upstairs and gather some of his clothes and other things he might need while in his 'new' room.

Tomias stayed on his knees, looking up at the other while he spoke. He whimpered a few times before taking in a deep breath. "Yes! Okay. Yes." he nodded a little bit, nodding a few more times to just calm himself a little bit more. His love was back home. That was a good thing. "Let me help!" he called, jumping up and rushing to the other's bags. HE scooped them up and instantly began to walk up the stairs, leading the way toward the guest room. His heart racing in his chest as he tried to not just pounce him. That would only make him pissed.

While Nikkos wanted badly to push Tomias away and tell him not to bother, the brunette forced himself not to do so. Tomias was trying and, really, they had both suffered enough in the past few weeks. It was time to heal for them both, but he just needed a little help from his lover was all. And no matter what it took, Nikkos was going to allow Tomias to help. The brunette brought some of his clothing into the spare room, and his pillow before announcing that he was going to go shower. He gave a little sniff and suggested that Tomias do the same...in the master bath.

Tomias was happy. His husband was back. And he was not as closed-off as he had been when they first met. He was guarded, but at least he was doing okay enough to tease him.

The next couple weeks were not so bad. compared to the prior ones at least. the man shaved and trimmed his hair. He kept his distance from his husband. he cooked him breakfast. He left books for him in front of his door. Never pushing anything. Merely pampering him as best he could. currently, the male was sitting at his home desk, right leg to his chest while he jotted down a few notes on one of the papers.

He appreciated the effort that Tomias made, and slowly the wall began to break down a bit again. It was a slow process, but not quite as slow as when they'd first met. He found after a few weeks that he was feeling better. He stood in the kitchen cooking dinner, considering everything that had happened in the past month or so. While he knew he was justified in feeling hurt, he knew that he had overreacted a bit and the brunette figured that he had an apology to make, too. "Tomias?"

Tomias perked up when he heard the other's voice. He was actually coming to him? Turning to look at him, he pulled down the small glasses he had for reading. being old really was getting to him. "Yes, dear?" he asked, long lashes batting against his cheeks as he kept his eyes to the other.

Nikkos chewed on his lower lip for a moment before crossing the room and sitting on the desk, facing his husband. "I wanted to apologize for overreacting as badly as I did. That's not to say I wasn't justified in being hurt and angry. But I shouldn't have run away the way I did." The brunette leaned down and brushed his lips over Tomias' cheek.

Tomias remained where he was, listening to the other and smiling warmly at the male's lips against his cheek. Turning a little more, he took a hold of the other's fingertips, pulling them to his lips and kissing them softly. "You were justified, sweetie. You truly were." He sighed heavily, eyes staying up with his. "Kills me to admit this, but Calder helped me realize that I should have told you. I should have just said that while I was wooing you, I had been dating others. And I am truly sorry for that. I did not mean to hurt you. That would never be my motivation, Nikkos. I love you, and only you, and I am sorry that I hurt you. I ... so very promised to not do that, yet I did. I'm sorry."

"I know I was justified in how I was feeling," he answered while allowing Tomias to kiss his fingertips. "But I still shouldn't have run away." Nikkos shrugged a little bit and stood from the desk, pulling his husband up from his chair and wrapping his arms around Tomias' waist. "I know that you love me. And that you didn't keep the information from me to deliberately hurt me." He nuzzled against his lover's cheek. "And I love you."

Tomias felt his heart flutter. His heart racing with the utter excitement he felt with his words. His arms lifted and wrapped around his shoulders. He pressed a soft kiss to the other's forehead, resting his lips there for another moment before he slowly pulled away. "You make me so happy, Nikkos." he whispered, pulling back and trailing his fingers through the other's locks, trailing through them and sighing a little more. "Thank you for not hating me, my love." he kissed his forehead once more, taking in a deep breath and relaxing a little more. "maybe tonight ... We can cuddle on the couch?" he wanted to sleep in the same bed, but still did not want to push him at all. Distance was still good to have. Not that he wanted it, but knew it would probably help.

Nikkos sighed softly and nuzzled into his husband's neck as Tomias wrapped his arms around him. He'd missed being in the other man's arms. And he felt his heart swell at Tomias's attempt to continue to take things slowly with him as his heart finished healing. The brunette nodded his agreement and pressed another kiss to his lover's cheek before pulling away to finish dinner. "I do love you, Tomias. Even if I sometimes want to strangle the life out of you."

Tomias smiled warmly. "And I gladly accept that." he whispered, kissing his forehead once more before he pulled back with a light sigh. "I never expected anything less from the day we met." He grinned and then leaned forward to press their heads together once more. "Shall we go eat?"

He nodded and lead his husband to the kitchen and set dinner down on the table for them. Nikkos sat too and ate, for the first time since he came home they had a conversation that wasn't broken by awkward silences. It was nice, and it lead into a quiet evening on the sofa with Tomias wrapped securely around him. Nikkos felt his heart truly begin to mend as he felt the protection that his husband's arms offered sink deeper into him.

Tomias was a good boy for another week and a half. Until he could not stand being away from his love. That and they were getting to be closer and closer, so it was not like he was going to ruin anything. Hopefully! Sneaking into the guest bedroom, the pajama-bottom clad male slowly moved forward. Seeing his lover curled up in the bed and he smiled even more. Gently, he crawled on top of the sheets, lying beside the other. Arms moving around his torso and he pulled the male against his chest.

The next week or so went well. Nikkos felt himself opening up more and more, and it felt good to be closer to their normal relationship again. But he was still sleeping in the guest room, even though he couldn't truly justify it. The brunette told himself that he would move back into their bedroom at the end of the week. Tomias, though, seemed to have other ideas. He groaned and pushed his husband away. "If you walk away now, I'll forget that you temporarily lost your mind," he muttered, huffing a little bit.

Tomias whimpered softly, rolling away to the other side of the bed and staring at the other. "Can i at least sleep on the floor?" he mumbled, tugging at the sheets beside his form. Eyes staying with the male's silhouette in the shadows. He missed sleeping beside him. Listening to him breathe. being near him. He really did not want to go back to sleeping alone in the room.

"It's not about you," he answered. Tomias was easy to read after so long together, and Nikkos wasn't shy about letting him know that. "If you don't go back to the room and let me sleep, I'll go back to the hotel." Okay so he was bluffing. That wasn't the point. Tomias would believe him, at least until he thought about the threat.

"NIGHT BABE!" he quickly jumped up, kissed his temple, then scurried out to rush out of the bedroom. Though, instead of going back to his, the man wound up camping outside of the other's room. Pillow and blanket was all he needed. He laid against teh wall, not caring about how uncomfortable it was. He needed to be at least somewhat close to his love.

Nikkos sighed and figured it was as good as he was going to get.

The next morning, he woke up early and shuffled out of the room to shower, being sure to give Tomias a decent kick. "I said the bedroom, not the hallway." Shaking his head, the brunette showed and moved downstairs to make breakfast. The routine continued each night for the next three days, and finally Nikkos was getting exasperated. Sunday night when he heard Tomias settle in the hallway, Nikkos threw his shoe at the door. "If you don't go to the room I'm making this my permanent room!"

Tomias whined as he stood up and opened the door, looking in at the other in the bed. "But .. I just want to be near you, damnit! I'm not touching you. I'm not snoring. I'm fucking up my back, sure, but I'm not affecting you! I CANT SLEEP WITHOUT YOU! God. I go there and it's just ... bloody tossing and turning until I finally smell your breakfast and saunter down. I'm getting bags under my eyes! I'm turning ugly!" he whimpered, hands coming to rest over his eyes that truly looked tired.

Nikkos sighed. His husband truly did look pathetic. With a little huff, the brunette threw the covers off of him and got out of the bed, taking his pillows in one hand. He took Tomias' wrist in the other and began to lead him down the hallway towards the master bedroom. "You're centuries old and you act worse than our children did when they were one!" He shook his head. "Do you want Jack's blankie and teddy, too?"
