In the kingdom of Rathma the city capital city of Malie with a great port with commerce that came and went the gold flowed through the pockets of merchants and guild that called this town home. The guildhall was located just over looking the port with multiple bridges to connect it to the different levels of the city. From the front a man approached with a long dark cloak the flowed around him hiding his body and half of his face covering up all but his dangerous red eyes. On his back he carried a great sword that was almost the size of his body that was made out of a black metal which even with some scratches on the side it could be seen that it was not just a dye over the steel, the entire blade was made out of a black metal. Along the flat edge of the blade there were deep carvings that were jagged and curving to form some unknown language with red lines filling in the gaps that seemed to give the sword an evil feel to it much like a cultists blade at first glance. Many of those who had known him did not have to see under the cloak to know about his reputation, the sword alone said that. He was Shatos the wielder of the black blade and was a platinum ranked adventurer in the guild.

Entering the front of the guild hall Shatos could see all kinds of non-humans going about their business preparing or looking up at quests that had been posted. Off to the left side of the entrance were a few stands set up by the better merchants in town who focused on providing some of the best gear, potions and items of all kind that an adventurer might use. The cloaked figure then looked off towards the back of the room where a wall was covered in requests ranging from cheap and easy jobs on the left all the way to the hardest and best paying jobs on the right. His had been on the right half of the board where the higher paying jobs were. It requires him to bring at least one other companion of gold tier or higher as per their employers request.

Along the right wall were various rooms and stairs to take you to the other areas of the hall usually reserved for higher paying clientele and higher ranking members. He headed towards the desk to the right of these special room to address the guild maiden who usually handled the clients so that way she could summon up those who took his quest. As he approached she took notice of the Demon red eyes and stiffened up immediately. The woman was a foot shorter than him with large white cat ears, long blue hair and silvery blue eyes but as soon as he approached her hair stood on end as her instincts took over like they always did. Shuri looked up at him with a frightened look at first before calming herself and pulled out the guild file for his job and looking it over, "Nothing seems out of the order here Sir. Relatively simple job for someone of your rank and your partner will be along soon enough, I will have her meet you over there. Your employer has a cart set up to take you close to the objective." She said almost too formally and loudly than he would have liked.

Looking over at the neko girl with such a bright look that always stood out he rolled his eyes slightly from under the mask, "You didn't even ask for my ID Shuri.." he said which she almost glared back at him because it was obvious who he was even without the stupid card to prove his identity. If not for the giant sword and red eyes the very fact she she would almost get a heart attack any time he approached spoke plenty for the girl to never want to get on his bad side.

Shuri took a step away and stuck her arm out, "As I said over there!" She said trying to sound tough but her small voice and how her hair stood on end only caused the man to grin under his mask nodding deciding it was best to give her the room she sought. If there was anything that stood out about his life it is the fact that those with high levels of awareness always seemed to take notice of him even if he wasn't a threat which was both good and bad in his line of work he always needed practice.

A woman trailed through the streets of town, bustling and crowded as per usual, a tome in her grasp as her slender fingers navigated its pages. Her gaze flicked across the age-worn pages to read various incantations, spells, and otherwise as she strolled a tad obliviously through the streets. Coming to a more crowded area, her gaze would lift from her book's pages only to let out a soft sigh, her direction taking a turn through a few alleys to avoid the walking traffic as her gaze returned to its studying.

She couldn't have been more than a short sprint from the guild hall when two clear pairs of footsteps alerted her, the shadows of two men standing in her way leading her to stall in her tracks. "She's a pretty little thing, isn't she?" "She's wearing some high quality robes, there." "Probably swinging a heavy coin purse, too." Halting, closing her book as well as her eyes as she sighed, the woman would turn her steely, gray gaze to the two men standing in front of her.

"Despicable. You could at least try to be more original." Smiling coyly as the two faltered, she would lift a careful hand above her, outspreading her fingers in their direction as she cleared her voice. "Might as well try what I've been working on... Valestis!" Light glowed from her palm as the two men lifted up off of the ground and several feet into the air, yells and apologies eventually leaving the alleyway as the woman began to make her exit. "Guess you're in a bit of a pickle, boys! You interrupted me just as I was learning to reverse it." She laughed a little to herself as she pulled her book back out and slipped out of the alleyway and back into the streets, eyes intent again on its pages until she reached the guild hall.

As she stepped inside, she'd slip the tome into her sack, straightening out her robes gently before taking a deep breath and remembering who she'd been looking for here. She didn't know the exact details of the man she was to work with aside from some vague rumors about his presence and reputation, but in all, she still wasn't sure what to expect. Coming to the desk where Shuri stood, she'd step up behind a man she didn't believe she'd seen before. Tall, clearly built – plus his sword was quite a piece of work – and then there was the matter of the red eyes that sent a slight shiver even through her.

"As I said over there!"

Noting how wound up Shuri seemed, the kitsune woman would slide on forwards slyly, leaning along the desk and glancing between the two. "Giving her a hard time?" The woman chipped in smoothly, her gaze taking the time to take in the sight of the man fully, before continuing, "If you've got the papers, then you don't need to be teasing her, do you?" She spoke with a mixture of admonishment and playfulness, though she tried to keep it simple. A sneaky gleam lit her eyes as she smiled at him, brushing back a lock of her hair as she turned to face Shuri with a wide grin. "He's the brute I'm supposed to work with? Seems about right," she noted curiously, before finally fully turning to face him, a hand sliding to her hip as she straightened up a little– whether trying to impress him or to help detract from the difference in their height, she wasn't sure.

"I definitely couldn't be wrong to assume you're Shatos, from the look of you," She tilted her head a little, a little mischievous glint there again as she left her meaning ambiguous. He seemed to be attractive as the rumors said, surely, though his mask didn't reveal much. As for his stature and appearance, that also hit the mark. "My name's Nyx. I guess we'll be partners for a bit here," She explained, taking a few steps backwards, toward the table Shuri had mentioned earlier. Leaning a little playfully as she continued, she cheekily added, "Let's try not to rile up every pretty girl we come across, hmm?"

Smiling, pleased with herself, she'd take a seat cross-legged at the table they'd been directed to, near a side door off to the side of the room. Smoothing her hand over his legs to straighten out her robes, she'd let the fabric part at her knee as she leaned an elbow casually upon the table. "I came for the papers earlier, I was hoping to kill some time before the cart arrived. Though it seems it's not here yet..." Nyx stretched a little, her gaze shifting to meet his curiously.

Turning around the red eyed male heard a woman speak from behind him as he had started to walk away from the desk only to see a Kitsune woman smiling over at him amused by the way he made Shuri react. His crimson orbs hidden under the hood and mask seemed to study her for a moment as she spoke to the Neko girl which only caused him to narrow his eyes at the way she called him a brute without even seeing him in action. She seemed determined to open her mouth enough to get some kind of reaction out of him which was just fine because two could play at that game in the future.

Adjusting the straps just under the cloak he tightened the harness that held the giant blade up to his back while moving next to the table where he could both see Nyx and the open doorway. "That is what they call me at least. It's a... Pleasure." He said pausing for a kinder word than he wanted to say about the girl off the first impression she gave him. He had no problem with female adventurers in fact he enjoyed their presence on many occasions but he wasn't always fond of them all and this Nyx girl was already pushing into that category as something about her just bugged him slightly.

He pushed his annoyance aside and crossed his arms while leaning back against the stone wall for some time taking in the way his partner seemed to get comfortable while they waited. He took in her appearance which seemed a bit more colorful than he was use to seeing in a companion which told him she was no thief or warrior so most likely she used magic or something to that effect. The shape of the sack she wore confirmed this as he could see the shape of a tome pushing against one of the edges which made him wonder what exactly she might do for him. He had been about to speak as much when a man in merchants clothes walked in looking around for a moment before one of the directors led the man to their table.

"I take it you are the companions Shatos and Nyx? My name is Herold and my employer sent me to come take you south. If everything is in order I would like to get going as soon as possible." The man said in a rush obviously running behind on schedule. He stood about 5'6" with orange-red short hair and a few extra pounds giving him a slightly curvy appearance. He wore a mostly black outfit with a white and golden vest having his merchants stamp on the vest.

Shatos looked over at the man then back at Nyx, "I believe we are ready yes. We can discuss the job on the road." He said softly and then followed the man out and down the stairs leading to the lower levels where several large carts with horses waited and directed them to rear cart which had a large tarp set up with actual seats to sit inside of. The man directed them inside and once seated the caravan of carts began to make their way to the south city gates following the main road towards a heavily forested area.

Shatos sat down as far inside the cart as he could while pulling the massive blade off his back setting it down from one side to the other in the back of the cart so it was ready to grab at a moments notice. His body was somewhat alert from the moment they left the guild hall all the way to the forests watching out the back opening of the cart. His eyes would occasionally glance over at Nyx once again analyzing her as they rode. His eyes seemed to take extra notice of the woman's assets when he would stare a bit longer.

Nyx was well aware she hadn't made a good first impression, though neither had he. Seeing Shuri get all bristled up didn't exactly mean great things for what she'd think of him. Besides, most higher class guild members she'd worked alongside so far were rather cocky and full of themselves with strength– she didn't assume he'd be any different. Relaxed even as she felt his gaze narrow on her, she'd only grin a bit wider as he replied to her. "A pleasure it is," she spoke softly, letting out almost a little sigh in return.

Her gaze scanned Shatos carefully as he crossed his arms to seemingly try to relax there, hoping to size him up a little, but continuously stuck on those intense eyes. It was hard to get comfortable with them set on her, so minimal words passed between them. Strumming her fingers lightly across her sack, she'd fidget just a bit where she sat. Nyx was almost thankful to hear Harold speak on up as he approached. "Perfect. Let's get going, then," she'd agree with ease, standing up again fluidly to follow after the two men.

She took in the sight of the caravan curiously, gaze intent as she took in the cart they'd be sitting in as Shatos went on in first. Standing at the back opening of the cart thoughtfully for a few moments, she'd clear her throat and extend her hands, gently smoothing them out before her as if to signal a wall. "Advelo," she announced softly, a soft light emitted as something resembling a translucent cloth covered the space at the back of the cart. Taking a slow breath, she'd then grin and relax a little. Turning to look at Shatos curiously, she'd pause to explain, "It veils us from the sight of those with malicious intent towards the caravan. If anyone were to attack, our presence wouldn't be known immediately."

Shrugging a little and moving to sit further in, she'd note how his blade extended so far along his side, drawing her to pick a seat straight across from him. Smoothing out her kimono, her hands passed over her form, her curves made evident with its draping across her body. Then sitting, she'd let her back rest against the front of the cart, leading her to face the opening at its end. Her legs drew up on the seats beside her, extending and relaxing somewhat comfortably. The slit in her fabrics shift up to expose a leg up to her thigh, not that she minded.

Her gaze was still alert as she let it travel to Shatos, her head tilting curiously but words finding a difficult time coming out. Nyx wasn't sure she even wanted to talk to him, but what other entertainment did she have? They still had the mission to talk about, regardless. She did feel the weight of his gaze, though his his intent with it unclear. "You're not a man of many words, are you? Or do you prefer only using them on those you choose to pick on?" She spoke a bit playfully, a sly grin forming on her lips. "Maybe you've already decided not to give me a hard time, since I'd prove a better opponent than a kitty like Shuri."

Rolling her shoulders back to stretch a little, she'd let her gaze travel along him for a moment before returning back to the cart's opening. "What's your actual specialty with fighting–– besides you know, carrying that hulking thing?"

Nyx spoke softly from across the cart one word, "Advelo." which caught his attention. He focused in on what she was doing now and as the kitsune explained it they would be hidden safely behind the cover of her magic as if there was nobody in this back cart. He raised an eyebrow at the way she prepared the spell so quickly and without needing any kind of suggestion to use it from him. That scored a few extra points in his book in her usefulness if she wasn't going to make herself useless later on by using it now.

"I didn't need words to scare Shuri. The girl's instincts are on full alert and for some reason has a heart attack anytime I get too close. Why is not my concern but should I not be amused with how she reacts? As for you I have mixed feelings on already, you're much too mouthy for one who has yet to show me any talents besides that of using an illusionary skill. While useful it doesn't out way the mouth you have on you since we met." He said in a flat bored voice. The red eyes moved over her form taking in the curves of her body with how she sat on the other side of the cart having no need to hide it that much and with how she chose to dress then she allowed herself to be eyed up which he for one would not refuse the desire to enjoy the sight of a womans curvy form. He had to admit if he needed a distraction she would indeed be useful for that against any warm blooded males and even some females.

As the cart hit some bumpy roads he turned to eye the entrance with her finding the time dragging on as they spoke, "That is my specialty. Woke up with no memory years ago and since then I mastered how to swing that." He said simply knowing her brutish comment earlier was on point in that regard but the fact she hadn't known that set him off when they first met. His hand moved to rest on the handle and as a point picked it up with one hand as if it were a sword meant for a single hand and his arm didn't shake at all despite the size of such a blade. His strength was truly remarkable to be able to wield such a heavy blade as if it were a one handed weapon. He then let go of it and pulled out a foot long dagger from his lower right leg showing off his hidden weapon, "In case I can't swing around such a weapon I do have a back up so I can at least handle myself in the worst circumstances."

"Now what about you?" He asked deciding if he had to explain his talents then she should do the same and he hoped she had more than just illusion spells to call on because he doubted that would help them if they faced anything without an actual mind to confuse such as undead. The warrior had face men and monsters, mages and warlocks. Magic was only as useful as your front line in a party, if he could cut down those protecting magic users they were doomed to fail in the efforts of controlling a battlefield with such weak spells like illusions or so he thought.

As the pair talked he pulled out the job file and began to go over the job in question. In the file it talked about an old dungeon in which a sorcerer locked away some kind of relic that was used by a demon to bring back and enslave the dead. The pair were to go an recover it before an enemy kingdom could get their hands on it and their employer was apparently lower nobility who had a knack for finding and recovering items for their king. On paper it sounded legit so Shatos didn't question any of that but what he had been focusing on is why they were brought together to do this job and not hire a full dungeon party, they had no rogue or ranger for trap expertise, while they could probably handle such things on their own he could not confirm that fact until Nyx explained her role.

His reply drew Nyx to raise her eyebrow at him, her expression curious and blank for a moment. "So, you do speak," she'd settle in simple response, letting out a soft sigh. Why was he rubbing her so wrong? Maybe it was because she'd immediately got such bad vibes from cocky, swordsman types as he seemed, but it could just be her being touchy, right? Letting her gaze flit back on over to him, she'd catch a glimpse of his eyes raking over her, leading a sly smile to draw over her face. For all he'd complained about her, he definitely didn't seem to mind looking. Nyx didn't think she minded him doing so, either.

Noting what he'd mentioned of his past, Nyx tilted her head with some thought. Waking up that way must've been rough... Maybe she was a bit soon to judge how he was acting. Her gaze followed his hand as he picked up the sword, her lips parting with some measure of awe at his strength. He didn't shake or show and difficulty moving it– whereas she could maybe drag, but not attempt to lift the thing whatsoever. Nodding in slow understanding, Nyx would find herself a little more at ease with him. He could definitely at least handle that sword. Now to prove she was worth that. Nyx felt her pride on the line here, needing to speak of her skills to this guy she'd already felt at odds with. Did she want to impress him? Shaking the thought, she'd smile coyly and sit on up, leaning in towards him slightly. "Illusory magic is a given, it takes hardly a thing from me as it's... sort of natural to me," she began casually, then thinking of her guild proficiencies, "I'm aware I don't dress like a rogue type, but I'm most proficient with stealth and some pretty handy thief's tricks. Most of my missions were done alone or with small parties, because I rarely raise an alarm. As far as fighting..."

Nyx scrunched her nose a little, not willing to outright state that it wasn't her strongest suit. Not outright. "I have an array of spells handy for combat, though I'm no specialist in brute force. Long-range, hands-off casting is easier. I can carry my own way in fights, though." She reasoned, careful with how she phrased things, her hands absent-mindedly reaching for her tome. Seeing him bring out the mission papers, she'd peek over them herself, though she did already have the just of it.

"I can probably get us into that dungeon without so much as a whisper of our entrance." She grinned cheekily, feeling the urge to brag bubbling up despite how silly it felt to say, "I've easily slipped into more guarded dungeons than I could count by hand. Dozens, probably? Granted you don't make a ruckus, I'd think we'd be fine."

Listening to what she said he gave a small scoffing sound and all though she couldn’t see his face at the moment he was grinning under the disguise he wore, “That’s a fancy way of saying you aren’t great at fighting isn’t it? Don’t worry I guess that’s why you have me after all.” He responded to her talk of having multiple long range spells. If anyone got up in her face it was unlikely she would be able to easily fight them off.

He had been more than willing to tease her but when she spoke of him being the one to make a ruckus he narrowed his eyes in response, “I might be wielding a giant sword but that doesn’t make me that bad about sneaking around. If the need calls for it I can be quiet. Of course if you fail at stealth I’ve cleared whole over twenty dungeons by myself so I’m not afraid of whatever beasts we find.” He declared with a playful wink.

He looked over at the entrance of the cart and then back at his companion, “You sure nobody can see us in here if they catch a glance?” He asked finishing the mask was annoying him and he wanted to take it off but it was easier to live a life outside of adventuring when possible enemies didn’t know your face. Since he usually took on some rather dirty jobs that often bordered on just plain assassination he was not always knows always being a typical adventurer.

Nyx averted his gaze and bit her bottom lip at his response, eventually letting it go as she let out a soft sigh. “It’s not as if I can’t handle fighting, I’m just not focused on that part all the time,” she reasoned stubbornly, unwilling to just give in to that. Her gaze rose to meet him again, focusing in on his mask curiously before shaking her head a little. Nyx had half a mind to wonder what his expressions were beneath it, but that might only further disappoint.

Nyx let out a short, playful laugh as he boasted of his own dungeon number, a mischievous glint again lighting her gaze as she turned to sit face him fully. She’d admit knowing he could be stealthy even with that weapon was not only impressive, but it was good news for her. Her hands rested lightly on the seat, her legs crossed in a relaxed fashion before her. “Feel free to play with whatever beasts we run into, but you’d be silly to think meeting them to fight is always the best tactic. I’m more than stealthy enough to handle a little dungeon— I’ve cleared plenty without alerting a single guard,” she boasted in return, straightening up her shoulders pridefully as she smiles cheekily over at him. Leaning in a little, she’d tilt her head slyly as she added, “Charmed twenty of a kingdom’s best knights to sneak into a Keep once. No sweat.”

Shatos’ question piqued her curiosity, leading her to look over at him for a moment before thinking on it further. Was it just to question her abilities? Crossing her arms as she eyed him, Nyx would give him a firm nod. “They couldn’t tell at all. Would probably have quite a hard time hearing us speaking, even,” she noted with a little smirk. “We’re more or less invisible, for now.”

Getting the answer he suspected the warrior pulled at his mask releasing a hidden strap that kept it up to his face and pulled it down around his neck while at the same time he pulled his hood back revealing his face to his companion. It wasn't something he would often do and it was a reason he often took jobs by himself was to give him that feel of a life that was away from the guild and those looking for revenge. Free of the hood he shook his head slightly pulling out the longer black hair poured around his face including covering one eye up. His look was much more regal and highborn despite not knowing his past he felt more comfortable in the finer things so that was always a clue he knew would some how relate to his history. His hand then reached down undoing the top part of his cloak opening it enough to get some airflow allowing his bare chest to be seen along with the white fur that went over his shoulders as part of his preferred outfit of choice. He also wore a necklace with several black tear shaped stones going around his neck which only stood out more against his pale like skin.

"Charmed twenty men? I suppose that is a feat for an illusionary caster but in that same time it took you to cast the spell i'd have cut them all down. Once I managed to take down as many enemies in four swings of my blade and that was with them wearing armor." He responded with a slightly cocky smirk on his face while eyeing up Nyx a bit more intensely now that he was more comfortable in the cart. It was unlikely the girl would go tell anyone who he really was but he wasn't so sure he wanted to keep the disguise up the whole ride with the intense heat beating down on the kingdom today being the middle of summer. "When your spells fail to befuddle one of those beasts you'll be praising my skills Nyx." He using her name for the first time which felt foreign on his tongue to call the woman by it but in its own way he couldn't deny it it had a unique way it to just roll off his tongue that he didn't mind.

Leaning out of the cart a bit he stared up at the sun noticing it was mid afternoon which meant still some time until camp so he moved himself to get comfortable again in the seat. He refocused on his partner noticing the way she had wanted to boast about her skills to him meant she wanted him to take her seriously and might be exaggerating her skills so he decided two could play this game which he had already began to do but why not really make her really feel the pressure he thought to himself, "You do know the last dungeon I went into I took out several undead mages and a lich lord. Not to count a battalion of skeletons but it wasn't that big of a deal when you get good enough with a blade you don't need to use stealth and people would love to know such things are dead not just avoided." He said while reaching into his pouch pulling out a water skin.

He pulled it up to his mouth popping the cap off with his teeth before drinking out of it. The taste of sweet fermented berries rolled past his tongue and into his throat as the cool wine poured out of the container. The slight glow of an enchantment around the top of it showed off a cooling spell to make sure the drink came out refreshing, obviously not something he could make himself but having plenty of gold he bought it along with a few other items to enjoy long travels. Looking over at Nyx he pulled it away from his mouth before leaning over to hand it to her, "Did you want a drink?" He asked trying to be courteous towards his companion even if he felt like she needed to be put in her place since she was only a gold rank.

What had first started out as a curious glance turned into a long and careful stare as Nyx watched him remove his mask, his hood next as Shatos freed himself to get a bit more comfortable. Her gaze trailed his face, his newly-unveiled features– his lips and jaw, then dipping to take in the shape of his necklace and part of his now bare torso. She'd definitely known she had the company of someone with good battle prowess, but now Nyx was also certain that he was more than easy on the eyes, too. Not shy about her staring, she'd let herself grin, her fluffy tail flicking to and fro behind her for a moment before she moved on from staring to look out the cart's back casually again.

"Mmmh, that's only to say that you find blood on your hands easier than simply tricking people." She commented, a mischievous look in her eyes as she reasoned, "Killing is necessary for a lot of missions, but that amount of blood and death could be a waste." Nyx reasoned calmly, shrugging her shoulders a little. The thought of his kills certainly didn't bother her– she just preferred another method. That seemed to be the running theme here. That, and their boasts were becoming more and more clear. His gaze weighing heavy upon her again, she'd turn to him curiously, tilting her head as she eyed him again. To her, he did appear somehow noble, if not at least wealthy. That could just be some of his guild gains, but something about the fur and pendants, not to mention the way he held himself, certainly caught her attention. Her name rolling off his tongue was music to her ears, much to even her own surprise.

Letting out a small, but relaxed laugh at the concept, she'd smile with amusement. "Maybe perhaps then I'll finally praise you, Shatos," she returned the gesture with some emphasis, finding it a bit more personal to finally state his name, but also thinking she could rather get used to it, "but you'd sooner be thankful for me, getting most of the attention off of our backs and having snatched the item, despite any enchantments, locks, or traps." Was it a challenge? Their conversation definitely had the feel of one, but she couldn't deny that she was also relaxing here with him.

Nyx raised her chin at a tilt in thought after he returned her boast, not denying an inward pull of admiration towards him, but also clearly unwilling to back down. Whether she was a tier beneath him in the guild or not, Nyx refused to feel lesser. Besides, she did have her own stories up her sleeve. Shaking her head a little, she'd tease, "However did you manage, what with that massive sword and ego?" The comment wasn't made maliciously– but she did find it fun to push and prod at him. "I don't go without kills, I just pick them wisely." She reasoned, biting her bottom lip thoughtfully for a few moments before going on, "Besides, I do have capabilities without magic. I grappled with an orc lord once... It was quite embarrassing for him." Then pausing to remember, she'd scrunch her nose a little, "He was rather grotesque."

Letting her gaze drift to the sights of the woods and the caravan beyond the cart, she'd stretch, arching her back and lifting her arms up behind her head. Readjusting to stretch her legs out on the seats along the cart's side again, Nyx would be rather comfortable by the time she heard his offer. Eyeing the water skin curiously for a moment, she would grin at the sight of the enchantment. Considering her words for a moment beforehand and willing to drop her pride for the small gesture, she'd nod and take it in her hands. "Sure. Thank you," Nyx spoke softly, taking a drink and savoring both its taste and refreshing temperature, she'd be quick to hand it back on over. Wiping one of the corners of her mouth with her thumb, Nyx let herself lean back up against the cart, a soft yawn parting her lips.

"Perhaps we'd best rest now, before nightfall? I doubt any of these men will be staying up the night." She suggested, eyeing Shatos curiously.

Watching her drink down some of the cool wine he brought with him he couldn't help but take an extra glance over at Nyx. He wrote her off as a normal traveling companion but he not truly taken in her features before now. With her head tilted back and her the look of slight relief on her face in that moment getting to cool her palate with the sweet drink the Kitsune woman had features that looked soft and gentle which matched her outfit and her skills out of combat. He surely gave her a hard time over the fact she seemed to be willing to avoid combat but when push came to shove she would most likely be more fierce that he was willing to give her credit for. As she lowered her head to hand him back the water skin those soft kind looking features took on a calm more relaxed look which was very different from the woman he initially met that seemed to be looking to rile him up.

"Perhaps we'd best rest now, before nightfall? I doubt any of these men will be staying up the night."

He couldn't find fault with her statement and was sure to a degree she was right, if something or someone was to ambush them even the guards of the caravan couldn't be trusted when it came to their mission and lives, they could run with what they could carry and leave others to die for all they knew as not many men were as honorable as they seemed. With a nod and slight smile he admitted himself the ability to agree with her statement, "Very well lets rest." He said softly leaning back into the cart seat he put away the drink before doing what he could to relax and let his eyes rest in particular.

As the evening descended the caravan came to stop and circled the carts up to keep everyone close by, Shatos felt the carts starting to turn in a wide arc which made him open his eyes and look out the back where the front of the caravan could be seen circling around to come meet up to the back. With a small yawn he reached over and ran his hand along Nyx's arm and shoulder giving her a good shake while feeling the fine material on the kimono she wore. He took the moment while trying to wake her up to kneel down next to her examining the curves of her face and her kitsune ears while taking in her scent finding she smelt nice for some reason he found it enjoyable. His crimson eyes stared at hers when they opened and he smiled a bit, "time to wake up, it is almost night." He said softly while pulling his hood and mask back up hiding most of his features as well as keeping his face warmer in the cool night air that would soon descent upon them. With the lack of cloud cover it would be starry night and it would get cold faster than normal in this hill forest region.

Moving back to his side of the cart he picked up his sword holding it forward at his side while moving out of the cart disrupting the spell she had that kept them hidden before anyone took notice of the lack of adventurers in the back of the cart. He moved towards the middle of the flat area they chose to stop at seeing the merchants moving a few stones together to make a fire pit as well as pulling out some small containers of food they planned on cooking over the fire. Herald was standing there watching everyone starting to come together to work while the few guards of the caravan moved towards the woods to investigate the area. When he saw Shatos he approached the cloaked swordsman, "I know this is unusual but can you and Miss Nyx go gather up some wood? Our guard is checking for signs of goblins or beasts that might attack in the night and a man like yourself might be able to carry more than they could." He suggested to the pair.

Shatos looked over at Nyx from where he had just come from and then back at Herald, "Consider it done." He said in firm voice before turning back and heading off into the woods while waving his hand towards his magician to follow. It hadn't taken long to reach the edge of the treeline since the forests were so thick it was a surprise that they found a clearing as big as they did. Looking over his pink haired companion he he noticed how close she had gotten in the woods and gave her a small push on her lower back towards a pile of sticks, "Grab what you can of those and I'll grab some larger pieces." He said taking command and moved in a similar direction seeing some thicker trees had fallen just a bit further past the ones he directed her towards.

Nyx was a little surprised he agreed with her suggestion so easily, but she welcomed the sentiment. Grinning, pleased, she'd stretch once more before turning on her side, lying herself down and across the row of chairs she'd been sitting on. Arms curling up beneath her head, she'd be asleep faster than she'd thought possible in a cart with a stranger. Whether it was because she had some small sense of trust for him or she was exhausted, she wouldn't be able to tell.

"Time to wake up, it is almost night."

Opening her eyes slowly to see Shatos kneeling before her, Nyx took a second to take in his features, just before the mask came back down over his face. "Not too bad of a rest, for chairs," she commented sleepily. Returning his smile with a small one of her own, she'd stretch and yawn, coming to stand with a soft sigh. Following him out of the cart, the magical veil she'd cast there dissipating with their movement. Nyx would take in the sights of the camp as it was getting set up, trailing on after Shatos with a curious, shifting gaze. As Herald spoke up, she'd peek around Shatos to listen in, giving a little shrug in reply. It was no big task, especially considering their surroundings. Plus, it'd give them a warm place to sit late into the night.

Heading into the trees along Shatos, her eyes would curiously scan the trees, trailing up to the tops and between their trunks. The foliage was dense, maybe even a bit eerie, but Nyx was pleased to see that they found a clearing nonetheless. Grass and some wildflowers littered the ground, lush and soft, the stars beginning to come out overhead. Taking in a deep breath and looking around with a quiet smile, she'd let herself relax again, waking up more fully and feeling at ease. That was, until she felt a hand pushing at her. Turning to Shatos, surprised and a bit taken back with his tone, she'd let her smile fade to a slight frown. "That wasn't very nice,"she replied in turn, cheekily grinning as she turned to repay the favor.

Lifting one of her hands, she'd let it go in a small slap to his butt, a mischievous glint lighting her features in delight at the payback. "Why don't you go get some sticks, I'm also capable of moving branches," she urged playfully, despite their obvious difference in size. Nyx could've let it go that he was more capable of this than her, but the commanding tone got to her, what could she say? Besides, his butt had proved pretty firm. Tucking her hands behind her proudly, she'd slip on in front of him to continue their walk, sneaking a meaningful glance back at him.

The slap on the ass was unexpected but not unwelcomed as the kitsune caster strolled on ahead of him casting glances back as if she were sizing up his response. The playfulness in his eyes shown as soon as she thought she could get away with such an action and he easily caught up to her. His arm reaching out to grab hers and spinning her around to face him. A moment later he had her pressed up against the tree they had stopped next to and leaned in over her a bit still wearing his mask and hood. His eyes with all that could be seen glowed in a dark way in the shadows of the forest, his body leaning forward right up in front of hers and his hand on her hip.

“I’m stronger and more capable.. I’ll get the branches and if you slap me like that again I’ll show you what a real slap is.” He said with a quiet but deeper voice. With a pull of his hand the mask fell from his face revealing his suave smile and the joy he had on his face from pushing her in such a compromising position. He leaned in as if he was going to kiss her but stopped before letting their lips connect he gained a slightly more amused look before pulling away.

Hidden away by the beauty of nature the pair seemed to be nothing but a shadow in the forest so much so that a guard passed by them several feel away not noticing the pair or not acknowledging them with his voice having been so low. If he had he would have assumed the pair were doing more than just getting sticks and still might think that they were.

Waiting for the man to move away he pulled away while pulling his mask up and winked over at his companion, “Now go get those sticks and maybe I’ll let you feel my lips next time..” He said sure of himself that he had her frustrated and surprised as he was so use to doing to any woman who actually had spent any time alone with him. He suddenly began to walk away with an extra bit of energy in his steps finding himself more amused now.

Nyx felt her cheeky pride challenged by that playful look in his eyes, her tail swaying behind her in anticipation of his next move. Clearly, he wasn't going to just give up after that, and neither would she be. She picked up on his footsteps as he sped up to catch her, having expected as much as she was whirled around to face him. Her feet glided gracefully to match the motions he pulled her into, a sly expression on her face as she looked up at him through her lashes. With her back pressed to the rough bark, she'd tilt her head curiously up at him, still awaiting his plan.

Shatos' tone of his voice and his word choice make her eyes widen just a bit, but she didn't lose her mischievous expression. In fact, the situation she found herself in probably only heightened her enthusiasm to mess with him. Her eyes trailed after his hands as they removed his mask again, Nyx finding herself almost glad for the sight of the rest of his face again. It was much easier to read, but she'd also be lying if she didn't find that suave smile appealing. Part of her also wanted to see it wiped from his features. "That's still to be decided. Besides, I'm not sure I'd give you the opportunity to really slap me," she challenged, squaring her shoulder even as he pressed closer to hers.

Nyx faked a bit of a bored look as he began to lean in, her eyes rolling, but eventually settling back in on him as her breath hitched a little. Was he actually going to steal a kiss from her? In that little rush, Nyx wasn't sure if she'd actually have minded that. Locking gazes with him curiously as began to pull away, she'd lift her chin at him, running her fingers through one of her locks of hair thoughtfully. Her gaze would find the approaching man in the trees behind them, flicking along with his movements, her lips pursed cockily. It was silly to think, even in their reckless little teasing, that someone else would fail to notice them. How foolish.

Nyx let out a short laugh at his response, a hand raising to cover her mouth as she moved to trail after him again. "Oh please, let me?" She teased in response, her gaze still playful as she continued to laugh just a bit. "You'd be lucky for the chance." She wouldn't admit that he'd surprised her just a little, and maybe she did feel her body heat just a tad in reply to his actions, but she was far from backing down. Nyx wasn't about to just let him get away with all of that.

She did begin to gather some sticks and dried mosses for kindling in her sack, but as she stopped and leaned over to do so, her gaze would still flicker playfully over to him. "Maybe if you were a man worth my time, I'd let you earn one." Nyx snickered just a bit again, still shaking her head at his words. Not to poke fun, of course, but to tease him. She didn't know why she was so intent on doing so, but it was proving well worthwhile. With his back to her, she tilted her head at him curiously, a feisty little idea lighting her face.

Stepping up behind him, she'd wrap her hands up around his middle boldly, fingers trailing and feeling his form from over his clothing. They felt along what was exposed of his torso, nails raking down gently to feel for his abs. Nyx spoke in a lower voice this time, "Pretty great shape, I'd suppose. Thick and muscled for sure, but whether it's good put to use, mmmh," Nyx spoke in a playfully fake appraisal of him, almost as if checking out a piece of meat, stepping on back and letting out a soft sigh, "Not sure it that'd do for me." She may have faked disappointment, but her cheeky smile only grew by the moment.

His steps slowed down as he turned his head to look back at her as she responded to him after the false kiss. His eyes showed curiosity in them as the man took notice of the way she said that so playful and with a laugh at his actions. You'd be lucky for the chance. The way she said that spurned a flame in him that seemed to make him stare much more intensely at her with passion and a desire to turn those words around on her. He words earned a soft scoff sound from him before he turned away and continued down his path towards the larger branches he could find and bring back to camp before the sun finished going down.

"Many women begged just for another moment against these lips. Do not think yourself so immune to them either." He responded with a small amount of drama in his voice giving off a soft laugh afterwards deciding he might be laying it on a bit thick but if there was one thing the black swordsman knew it was how to entice a woman. He couldn't even recall the last time a woman didn't offer herself willingly to him that he chose to sleep with. It was so rare he had to entice a woman into the act.

She had surprised him with how she kept control of herself and didn't allow too much surprise to show on her face but even he had seen it even slightly there was a contest in the way she looked back at him when he pulled that move even if it was hidden under an act or possibly an actual desire to prove herself to him beyond just another conquest he could have. Deep down he began to truly enjoy the game they started and he was curious if they kept this up who would break to the others advances first. Neither seemed willing to give in and yet both wanted to continue this teasing.

Lost in his thoughts he never heard her approaching him so it came as a surprise when he felt her smaller hands wrapping around his torso and resting on his abs. His gaze traveled down to where she trailed the fingers along his form in a way that he would have shoved any other person away but he found himself intrigued as she seemed to be feeling him out as if testing his ability to be a good mate for her and her future children. "Oh I failed your test? I do find myself so very disappointed." He said turning himself around in her grasp while bringing his hand up to run through her long pink hair making sure to run his fingers right along her kitsune ear while moving down her back and his other hand moved along her side right around her curvy hip letting the tips of his fingers rub along the edge of her ass feeling how rounded it was. The hand in her hair moved slowly down to the small of her back and around to the other side also feeling her hips and slightly more so running over her ass getting a better feeling that moment while he pressed his body forward into hers slightly feeling the way their bodies pressed against each other giving him a good idea how large her chest was with out it pressed into him.

Under his mask the dark haired male gave a satisfied smile taking advantage of the fact she couldn't see his face at the moment to not need to hide his true amusement besides in his eyes. He kept his eyes still and slowly tracing her facial features not allowing them to travel lower, not needing them to travel lower having had plenty of time to study her body in the cart. He breathed in softly as his face hid it's amusement in case she tried to remove his mask, "Properly sized hips and bust, proportionally ideal for any woman who could bare my children but most likely I'd break you if we consummated. it is truly a shame.." he said acting more disappointed while staring down into her eyes. He gave that jab at her body's stamina and capability with playfulness in his tone even if he tried to look not so amused while saying it.

The drama in his tone made Nyx laugh a little again, more out of enjoyment than making fun. They both seemed to understand that they were merely teasing each other by now, and she was thankful that she'd found a travel companion who could take her poking fun. In fact, he didn't seem to have trouble at all turning it on her. "As that has yet to happen, I see no reason I'd ever beg for you. I have yet to bow to any man's will." She replied smoothly, pleased. As a matter of fact, she hadn't– not to say she hadn't laid with men before, but usually out of her own invitation. Nyx was choosy, independent, and rather unafraid to take on much more than a submissive role even with affection or intimacy. That applied here, too. Some part of her was aware that maybe she was checking out his ability, humor, and shape to be that kind of partner. Maybe.

Nyx huffed at his reaction, rolling her eyes again as she let out a slight laugh, "Do try to seem as if it hurt your ego any." Her gaze shone curiously as he turned to face her again, eyes locking with his as she allowed his hands to move over her form. She'd be lying to say his hands didn't warm her any, her body naturally drawn to his touch. That being said, she'd merely tilt her head a little in reply, to suit the hand running through her hair. Her lips parting just a bit only to form a small smile at his words. "You act as if I'd agreed to any such tryst." She began coyly, her hands running down along his to grab his wrists, squeezing them as if to bid them closer before shoving them gently away from her. Nyx's eyes narrowed on him, challengingly, "I assure you, I'd break to no man. I'm not sure you'd even manage to handle the ride I give."

Content with that, she'd let out a little, thoughtful hum as she backed away from his grasp and back into the rest of the clearing. "A shame," she'd return the gesture with a cheeky grin before turning her back to him to continue grabbing more firewood. Nyx ended up filling her sack with kindling and smaller sticks, leaving her arms open. Looking about the clearing thoughtfully, she'd see a stack of branches from a smaller, downed tree, and grin. Gathering them into a pile, she'd wait for them to be ready to head back to camp before placing her hands above them. "Valestis!" She repeated the simple spell from earlier, the pile she certainly couldn't have carried on her own now trailing in the air in front of her along their walk back. It took quite some concentration to focus on each part– but it proved good practice and she was more than willing to leave her gaze free of Shatos for a while, given good reason.

Upon return to camp, she'd set the branches she'd gathered in a new pile, letting out a huff of slight wear as she set the enchantment to an end. Taking a moment to rub her hands together, she'd watch as both fire and food were prepared, gaze finally trailing back to Shatos curiously as they were invited to take up one of the smaller fire pits they'd prepared for themselves. Accepting the offer of food, she'd trail along to sit beside their own, small fire casually, spreading her robes out as she claimed a place at one of the fireside logs. "Not too bad, for a free meal," she noted aloud about the fish they'd been given, calm now as she glanced at Shatos from over the fireplace.

As she pulled away the cloaked warrior narrowed back on her eyes making sure to stare fiercely back at her as if she were a foe he was staring down in a fight. Her reply took away the serious look in his eyes and he actually laughed at how she would challenge him. "Just because you would not bow does not mean you'd ever break me foxy. You may yet find out how truly durable of a man I am and if you did well I wish for the safety of my body." He responded in jest deciding it was better to let her comments not affect him too much or else he might actually take them as a challenge and if that were the case he would not be able to stop himself from truly trying to seduce his companion instead of focusing on the job like he should.

Turning away he moved to collect the large sticks and fallen wood that he could find in the near by trees. He pulled it up over his shoulder carrying it with no real problems despite the fact he still had the massive sword attached to his back this whole time. He turned back over to the kitsune letting her lead them back towards camp while he followed behind her more than enjoying the view as she walked her hips moved back and forth and her fluffy tail swayed hypnotically to the man. He wouldn't deny she was an exotic beauty he was enjoying more and more as he learned she was no wall flower or submissive companion despite her lower rank. She was a firecracker and hopefully she proved she was as useful as she had boasted.

As soon as they brought the wood he helped the men break down the larger pieces and move them to the locations they set up for the fires while each of the groups got one going. He soon moved aside and let the other men work on foods and fires getting good blazes going so they could good a meal for the entire group. He followed the gaze of their guests to a smaller fire place where he and his companion could have some privacy away from the group. He thanked Herald before moving over to the large log that had been set up next to it leaving the other log across from him for his companion to sit down at which she did.

"Indeed it smells wonderful." he responded as his hand slipped up over his mask and he had pulled it down revealing his face as they ate in privacy. He did notice a few glances from those in the distance since he had revealed himself but in the darkness and flames he doubted they would recognize him on the streets Malie when he wasn't working. As long as he could hide his face just enough so he wasn't recognized then he could live care free outside of the guild and the adventures he was sent on. It had started to become a problem for the higher up members to leave the hall and not be bombarded with those who basically worshiped their skill or someone who wanted a crack at them for what was done over at contract.

Biting into the fish he had to admit it was better than he suspected it would be having not been a fan of seafood of any kind. He would not so easily turn up a free meal from his employers though so he quickly devoured all the easy to eat meat before tossing the bones into the flames to burn away what was left so nothing sought the food out tonight while the caravan slept. He looked over his kitsune companion leaving his mask off while he undid the strap on his sword harness and allowed the large blade to fall to the ground behind him relieving him of its weight.

"So tell me Nyx what makes you so sure you could handle me? You already coped a feel without my permission so you must be interested enough." He teased gaining a little grin of playfulness on his face while looking over seeing others turning in to their carts or tents they had set up ignoring the two companions sitting at their own flame. Shatos reached back into his pouch pulling the enchanted water skin out popping it open again and bringing it up to his lips for a large gulp to wash down the grilled fish and replace it with a sweeter flavor before offering her the drink again deciding it could be more fun if they shared the rest of this pouch over the nights talk.

Nyx chuckled his last response off, eyeing him with even more curiosity than earlier. "Perhaps we'll prove compatible partners, after all." She grinned deviously, allowing her teasing to take more of a neutral turn. It wasn't as if she wanted to fully upset him– provoke him, maybe, but she wasn't sure to what point she wanted to quite yet. Granted, that feel she took was more than explanatory that his body would probably prove worth ravaging. Nyx tried to dispel the thought as all settled down, many of the other men now seeming to be turning in for the night and leaving the two of them alone with their campfire.

The fire lit his face almost suitably, his skin glowing and his red eyes seeming even more intense as Nyx glanced over at him between eating. She found herself tilting her head at him just a bit as she grinned from her seat, relaxing and leaning a hand on the log to support her. It had been a peaceful day and she couldn't see it taking a turn for the worse, yet, so some company by the firelight didn't seem so bad. Especially, if it was someone capable of matching strides with her, like him. Not that she'd say that aloud. Finishing off her fish and following suit by tossing its bones into the fire, Nyx would let herself relax there, stretching where she sat and even stealing glances of the stars. The heavy thud of his sword meeting the ground did startle her a little, enough for her gaze to flicker to him.

Spotting him getting comfortable, she figured it a good time to do the same. Standing up and untying her robes, she'd let them slip from her shoulders, sending him a cheeky little wink before her second layer of clothing was revealed. Beneath the fine robes, Nyx wore a simple, white sleeveless shirt and a pair of black, belted pants– much more suitable to sleep in, but also far more fitting to her need for stealth. Draping her robes across her shoulders for warmth, she'd settle back in her seat with a comfortable grin.

"Have you been thinking about it all this time? Interested sounds a bit strong, but call me curious," She began, letting out a soft chuckle as she let her gaze move back to Shatos finally, the playful aspects of his features sending a rather genuine, small smile to her lips. Pursing them as she thought, she'd let her gaze become playful as her tail flicked behind her gently. "Oh? I'm well aware I could, it's not just a thought." Nyx began boldly, laughing a little, "Even if you were a lot to handle, I know my own capabilities. I can match a partner's pace, if not outdo them." The comment was thoughtful as she leaned on in, resting a hand in her palm as she peered across the fire at him intently. "I'd never let someone simply subdue or dominate me– so if you ask how I know, it's because I'd do far more than just lay on my back for you."

As the last of the caravan turned in for the night Shatos pulled back his hood revealing his thick long black hair and enjoyed the cool air as it washed over him now free of the restraints he kept over his face. The glow of the fire gave off a warm inviting feel between them that he couldn't quite ignore despite all the minor sexual tension he could feel between them this was a new different environment the pair would be able to talk more intimately even through the gloating and poking fun at each other he felt more calm in the cool night air like this. He watched as she took the water skin and drank from it before handing it back and followed his example of getting more comfortable.

When she stood up his eyes followed her curious what she was doing. When her hands began to untie the sash on her robe he was quickly becoming much more interested in seeing just how much she wore beneath it. Seeing her shoulders he was watching quite intently but as soon as she winked her reminded himself of all the things they had said and done back in the forest. Sure enough as the robe came off of her form she revealed the clothes underneath that much more suited for a thief than the kimono had been which made him start to believe what she said earlier about her using stealth and spells as her preferred options when available. He wasn't against them but he couldn't let her think that he would bend to her way of doing things just because she wasn't as formidable in combat as he was.

"A woman doesn't usually come up and grope my body out of curiosity, that's usually what i get bought a drink over." he responded with a playful chuckle himself while bringing the wine back up to his lips and take a couple large gulps of the chilled wine before handing it back over to Nyx again with a raised eyebrow not giving her the satisfaction of a truly interested look at her reply, "If you say so. I suppose maybe we wouldn't be that compatible... women often only tell me how they would never let me dominate them and next thing I know that becomes their sole focus is submitting to me." He said acting like he was cursed to always be able to get his way and dominate any woman he took to bed. He did eye her up at bit as he finished talking about that to see her reaction to such a statement.

Undoing the clasps at the front of his cloak he opened up the top to reveal his nearly bare chest underneath while he looked up away from his partner and stared up at the starry sky for some time again before speaking, "I actually do want to find a partner who wont submit so easily but everyone talks more than actually acts. I suppose I'll have plenty of time to find a proper partner though..." He said cryptically hinting to his unknown race or age that he himself didn't even know. His own body had barely aged at all in the many years it had been since he woke up to find he had no memories of his past, just a large demonic looking sword and miles of land he didn't recognize.

He eventually lowered his head to look back at the kitsune woman giving her a small kind smile seeing how she had been actually decent company to be around. He tilted his head a bit as he once again stared over into her eyes for a moment as if he noticed something new but it was less about what he noticed and more of a familiar feeling he got from her as if she was like someone he use to know a long time ago before his memories had been erased. He had no idea who she reminded him of but in that gear and with the fires light glowing faintly off her skin she reminded him of this feeling of warmed that started from in his chest and filled his whole body within moments which caused him to undo more of his cloak and eventually pull it off in a hurry to cool himself. His face and skin was red in color and he was sweating slightly but he closed his eyes suddenly and tried to calm himself unsure why but his heart had taken a turn and began to race as the memories started to fade leaving an imprint of that feeling in his chest that he hadn't felt in his years since he woke up that day. He leaned over groaning slightly and took a deep breath of the smoky fire trying to calm himself in a hurry.

"I was simply appraising a man who'd mentioned kissing me. How else was I to know if I'd allow it?" Nyx teased in response, chuckling a little. "Besides, you're the one providing drinks." She crossed her legs in front of her, letting out a slight yawn as if the subject were boring her, raising a curious eyebrow at him after his later comment. "Perhaps we wouldn't be compatible, indeed. If you're only used to women submitting, you probably couldn't handle me... Besides, as much as I enjoy proving men wrong, I tire of big egos translating to sloppy lovers." Grinning cheekily, she'd take a relaxing deep breath, her gaze shifting up to the stars as they became more widespread.

It was then that she heard him sound what might have been a bit more sentimental, though she was more curious about how he'd ended that statement. "Plenty of time, hmm?" She repeated softly, tilting her head in curiosity but slow to look back down to him. Leaning up on her hands, she'd plant her palms down on the log beside her as she let the teasing come to a stop once she noted something odd about her companion. Besides that small, kind smile that made her eyes widen a little. Nyx's expression softened as she saw it, a hesitantly warm smile coming to rest on her lips as well. He really was fun company– much more enjoyable than most of her other traveling companions had been so far.

She watched him undress further with a rather relaxed expression, but a touch of confusion began to light her features as she saw the red coloring washing over him. "Shatos?" She questioned gently at first, confusion soon to turn into concern as he bent on over and let out a slight groan. Forgetting their earlier conversations, Nyx stood and approached him readily, sitting just beside him as one of her hands rose to grab his nearest shoulder. "Hey, you look like you're burning up– Are you feeling okay?" She'd hate to admit it, but some genuine concern washed over her. Nyx looked over the bones of the fish they'd eaten, the empty lines of trees, their little campsite, looking to see if something may have hurt him or set this reaction off. Her eyebrows drawing slightly together, she'd remain more or less calm as her other hand rose to rest against his forehead, her expression becoming serious as she considered what could've been the cause.

With no idea what was actually going on he brought his hand up to feel another hand already on his forehead feeling the intense heat and flushed feeling of his skin. His eyes widened in surprise at the way she moved up to him and even put her hands on his skin but hadn't noticed at all as his heart rapidly beat inside his chest giving off a painful rush of adrenaline and his mind raced through a thousand images in a millisecond. None of the images were clear or even memorable to him at first but when he leaned his head up he took the hand off of his forehead seeing it was covered in the sweat that had built up on his skin. He followed the pale lovely skin of her hand up along her arm slowly until it reached her face but the image he saw and what was real weren't the same.

Staring forward he saw a woman with long pointed ears, crimson eyes and long blonde hair. She had a kind concerned smile and wore an outfit that was green and black with a bow and quiver over her shoulder while her shoulder had a large one sided shoulder guard that displayed the head of a wolf in silver metal and several long eagle like features going down her arm under it. For a moment he heard a voice different from the one he was just talking to, more firm but just as kind and compassionate, "Are you feeling okay my love?" the last two words hung alone and no longer melded with what Nyx had said. Just like that the vision was over and the just as lovely kitsune woman took her place almost the exact posture the previous woman had been sitting at with the fire illuminating her features just the same. He stared into her eyes still feeling his heart race but he began to take deep slower breaths to calm himself.

"I..I...I think.." he said in quiet much more timid voice in that moment unsure if this was some kind of spell or illusion technique that he had never experienced but how else could he explain what he just saw. The image was too real and too carefully detailed to be made up and with the way he still heard Nyx mixed in with that woman's voice there was no way he could deny that wasn't a true illusion. "I just need a moment.." He said reaching over for the container filled with wine and drank most of it in a rush to cool his body and to let the alcohol take effect in calming his body from what seemed like a memory he had forgotten.

He turned away from her for a moment staring into the flames as if waiting for anything else to come to him or if the ordeal was over. He couldn't but look back at Nyx after a moment before letting his lips curve slightly into a smile and picking up the black cloak he had just ripped off of his body finding the ties on it were ripped apart when he had took it off in a rush but that didn't matter to him, he brought the cool cloth to his face and wiped away the sweat and heat with a loud sigh of relief. He let his one visible eye turn back to the kitsune again while wiping away the sweat, "Thank you.. You don't need to be concerned about me." He said softly as he pulled the cloak away from his face putting it down on the log away from her before reaching over to the hand that was on his shoulder pulling it into his with a firm but soft grip that even with how strong he was and how he swung that sword around still felt smooth to the touch unlike a normal mans who would be calloused after years of hard work swinging such an item around.

"I..I...I think.."

Hearing the man who'd sounded perfectly healthy and capable just moments ago stammer in such a quiet voice, Nyx's gaze widened upon him. Maybe he really was ill. In that case, what was the proper thing to do here? She doubted the client would take well to them simply backing out of the mission. Perhaps he could rest and she could just... Lost in thought as she looked over him, her hands firm on his flared, hot skin, Nyx would be shook from them as he spoke up more clearly. "Oh, good," she murmured quietly, letting out a slow breath but still looking over him warily. Nyx wasn't sure what to think about what had happened, but he did seem to calm down.

She leaned back just a little from him, removing the hand at his forehead but keeping the one on his shoulder. He felt warm, firm, and warm– it was odd to think, but she had almost forgotten it was there by the time he had pulled it into his. "Ah––" Nyx began distractedly, eyes watching they hands for a moment before flicking to look at him. "Well, it's natural when someone starts to look so sickly." She reasoned, sending him a coy little smile before relaxing fully. He did seem to be okay now, after all. Looking over his features from this close, the fire lighting his face, Nyx would let her head tilt curiously. "You're sure you're okay now? I didn't push too many buttons, hmm?" She teased slightly, considering withdrawing her hand from his at this point. She hesitantly decided against it for now. He was warm and his touch did draw her in a little, even if admitting that would wound her pride.

She seemed somewhat relieved to hear that he was fine but he noticed how quickly her coy smile came back causing him to smile back just the same, "I looked sickly did I? I guess there is a first time for everything." He said hinting at his immunity to sickness as the man had never been sick a day in his life and had a recovery time that would put some healing mages to the test to keep up with. He took the moment to look away at his cloak knowing he could try to wear it still but it was unlikely it would continue hiding his body and clothes which would give him away anyways to those who actually took notice of what people wore usually.

At her words he looked back suddenly with a glance catching the tilt of her head which caused him to do the same slightly tilting his head back to the side to eye her up more closely, "I think you stopped just a few short of actually being a problem but if you insist on pushing buttons.." He trailed off letting go of her hand and reached out pulling the kitsune woman over to sit right up next to him while letting his grin widen a bit, "I did just lose my cloak and you look like you could keep a guy warm with that fluffy tail.." He said in a softer suggestive tone. His eyes stared at her doing his best to forget about what he had seen but even now he could see those vivid crimson eyes that matched his own over lapping Nyx's and his heartbeat slightly increased again. He only felt a small rush this time but after a couple blinks the image was gone leaving him looking back into her eyes which were more or less just a lovely to stare into. A thought that almost made him back away wondering where that came from but he forced himself to stay still and not make any sudden movements in his attempts to tease the lovely woman he found himself slowly becoming more attracted to her even if he had no intentions of such things.

Around them the night grew darker, the forest became alive with the predators and prey of the night moving within its shadows but the pair sat on the log in the light of the fire unaware of any of that stuff. The stars were glowing high above them as one of the two moons started to rise in the sky, the current moon had a blueish glow and illuminated the lands enough that even outside of the range of their fire the pair could see any threats coming which there were none if either were to break away from their staring at each other long enough to look.

Seeing his smile return, Nyx really did start to relax again. Drawing in, holding, and slowly letting out a deep breath, she'd feel the tension in her body leave as she sat there beside him. "A first time, hmm? You poor thing," she chuckled in playful reply, narrowing her gaze at him slightly, sensing there was still something of a boast in there. She'd never met someone who'd never got sick once before, but in all honesty, it wasn't the strangest thing to hear. Instead, she'd let her thoughts linger over it curiously.

"Oh?" Nyx began to reply at his first words, intrigued and amused as his hand shifted to pull her in beside him. A warm smile spread over her lips, caught between the two feelings. The mention of keeping a man warm made her roll her eyes a little, but the genuine smile never left her face as she laughed. Drawing a hand up to cover her mouth, she'd speak much more softly now. "I wonder what kind of problem I truly am, if you're so willing to lay hands upon me. Maybe I have indeed wound you up a bit tight?" Nyx had half a mind to pull away and taunt him further, but she remained seated. Instead, one of her hands rose to touch where his chest was bare, her thumb sliding across his warm skin as her thoughtful gaze followed it.

Lifting her gaze to meet his, she'd let herself give in to that deep stare she received, her own hesitant but intent to maintain that precious eye contact. Nyx could've sworn it made her heart skip a few beats in her chest during those many quiet moments. Lowering her gaze suddenly as she remembered herself, she'd only let it rise to his face again once she'd recalled her situation with him. Her tail curled up around her, brushing past him gently but not lingering there as she replied cheekily, "Besides, I thought you'd deemed me incompatible. I'm not so sure I'd bother to warm a man who's sized me up to be so minimal, wrong as he'd be."

He stared deep into her eyes until finally she broke their gaze and looked down. Somehow the feeling that he made her submit to his stare encouraged the action and made him stay as close as he was before. When he tail wrapped up around her, touching him he reached his hand out to run his fingers along the fur tracing his fingers through it.

“Maybe.. just maybe... Maybe I made a miscalculation. I wouldn’t know until we tried after all.” He said as if it were hard to say he could be wrong or that he lied. With a glance along her body he decided that it couldn’t hurt to say it once in awhile for the right.. motivation.

“Besides even if I was wrong you seem to have judge me as unlikely to be a good partner. Unless you are going to admit you were wrong?” He said actually expecting her to stand her ground on this as women usually do but it just meant he would have ammunition for later if he could prove the girl didn’t think such things.

As the fire started to dim he grabbed a large piece of wood and put it into the burning flames. After moving it around till it was in the right spot he moved to sit back down next to her getting as close as possible when he did, “You ever feel like you’re going crazy? You’re never quite sure if the things you see and experience are even your thoughts some times?” He asked out of the blue unsure why he wanted to talk about this to Nyx or why she wouldn’t just think him crazy.
