Terminal 5 at LAX was as busy as usual; it wasn't the busiest of terminals and there wasn't that much there. Tom and Evie sat in Starbucks having said goodbye to family and friends before waiting for the flight out to Honolulu. A six hour flight. They were due to land early afternoon and the temperature was expected to be 28 degrees, about 10 degrees higher than LA at the moment. The flight was uneventful; they chatted, watched a movie, dozed in their seats. For all they had weapons with them, they managed to get through security fairly easily. The Transportation Security Agency provided a long set of procedures,,, how the guns needs to be packed and checked and how the ammunition needed to be packed and checked; Evie wasn't quite convinced that it was worth the hassle but she certainly wasn't going to argue over it. Tom sorted everything out and did everything by the book.

It took an hour to get from the airport to the hotel and they were checked in in about 10 minutes, bag being taken up to their room whilst they were filling in the paperwork. The room itself was spacious enough but by comparison to the last hotel 'room' Tom and Evie had been in, it was positively tiny. But then Evie hadn't booked a suite. She had booked a club level room... a large king size bed, dark wooden floors, marble bathroom and a balcony overlooking the ocean which had a small table and two chairs set out on it. When they entered the room, they both got their bearing, heading out on the balcony and looking around. They both decided to freshen up a little and then have a walk around the local area. Tom opened the suitcase and started looking out shorts and t-shirts whilst Evie went to have a look at the bathroom. She opened the door and switched on the light as she stepped inside. As the room exploded into the light, she stopped dead in her tracks.

"Tom." Slowly she backed up out of the room. "You know you said you like the idea of having a conversation with McGarrett?"

"Yeah?" Tom didn't even look up from the case.

"I think you might want to call him now." Evie looked at him as he looked up. "I got a feeling our vacation might just be over."

It was warm and very sunny when Tom & Evie's plane landed in Honolulu. It was so different from Los Angeles. Everyone acted and dressed more laid back. Hawaiian shirts and shorts were the dress code of the day. Tom had no colorful shirts, but he fully expected to buy a few before they left for home. Tom & Evie talked about calling Chin Ho Kelly after they got settled in. Chin had promised to show them around when he was in LA. They had decided on doing a little exploring on their own first. Do a little shopping for their family & friends back in Los Angeles. They would just spend a few hours by themselves before calling Chin. The plan was a sound one, but plans often get turned around when fate steps in. The scene from the balcony was beautiful. The beach was right there just waiting for Tom & Evie. Tom was feeling great when he started looking through his bag. He pulled out a t-shirt and found shorts while Evie went to the bathroom. Evie's voice which was once filled with joy, soon became filled with despair. Tom looked towards her as she was backing away from the bathroom. He could see a look of shock on her face. Tom moved acrossed the room joining Evie at the bathroom. He was concerned with what had changed her attitude. Tom slowly entered the bathroom and caught sight of what Evie saw. In their bathtub was the body of a naked woman. Tom knelt down to check out the body. Her hands were bound with duct tape behind her back. She showed signs of torture and there was a clear gunshot wound to the back of her head. Without touching anything. Tom rose up and rejoined Evie out of the bathroom. He reached into his pocket pulling out his cell phone.

Tom found Chin's number and quickly called it. Seconds later Chin answered. " Hey Chin......It's Tom Reed......Yeah Evie and I just got in.........We have a problem Chin.......There's a dead body in our bathroom. " Tom soon placed his phone back into his jeans. He looked at Evie and told her Chin was calling HPD and the Five-0 team was on their way. Tom leaned against the wall letting out a sigh. " We've stumbled into something big here. " Tom said as the first HPD unit pulled out just outside the hotel. It wasn't long before their hotel room was crawling with officers and crime scene techs. The first of Five-0 team to arrive was Chin & his new partner Catherine "Cat" Rollins the former US Navy Lieutenant intelligence officer who recently joined the Five-0 team.

Evie stared at Tom and then just shook her head.

“Was some time away from blood and bodies and others cops really too much too ask.” She smiled ruefully and then walked over to the in room refrigerator, fetched out a chilled bottle of water and then went and sat down heavily on the bed.

They heard the sirens approaching, heard the squeal of rubber on the roadway out front of the hotel. They didn’t need to look. The both imagined the police waiting for Chin and his 5-0 colleague, then Chin heading to the desk, advising them about the call asking to be taken up to the room straight away, telling them that the room was a crime scene. As she imagined it, Evie wondered whether the hotel had any spare rooms as the chances were, they weren’t going to be able to stay there. A few minutes after they heard the first alarms, the first knock on the door came. Tom let them in and then stepped back. Chin walked over and introduced them to Catherine. Tom and Evie explained that they had been in the room about five minutes and this was confirmed by the front desk. Someone suggested that they needed to get hold of the cleaning crew; find out when they finished in the room. There were also discussions about access. What kind of locks did the hotel have? How did the keys work? Who had access to the keys? Had any keys for that room not been returned lately? Could someone access the room… with a body… without being seen without a key? Ten minutes after Chin had arrived, the two remaining members of 5-0 turned up. Chin did the introductions once again and then brought McGarrett and Williams up to speed with what they had.

Evie stayed relatively quiet, letting Tom take the lead as much as anyone would allow. It was 5-0s crime scene after all. She couldn’t help but notice that they worked pretty smoothly together. They all seemed to compliment each other pretty well; Evie wondered whether someone looking in on the MCU ever thought the same.

Tom didn't speak the words Evie had before the HPD & the Five-0 team arrived, but he certainly felt as she did. His thoughts drifted back to their weekend in the mountains. It was to be a few days away from the crazy LA life. That weekend turned into a fight against worshipers of Satan who where holding a local girl against her will. In the end the girl was freed and a case that Tom had been working on in secret was closed. While all that was nice. It did seem that Tom & Evie couldn't just have a normal vacation. Trouble seemed to pop up no matter where they went. Here in the paradise that is Hawaii, they found themselves hip deep in a murder investigation. Tom joined Evie on the bed after the HPD took over the scene. They both gave statements to Chin and to Sergeant Duke Lukela of the Honolulu Police Department. The crime scene techs moved in and out of the bathroom, each carrying something different in their evidence bags. Soon the coroner arrived and started his work. The Chief Medical Examiner for Honolulu is Dr. Max Bergman. He was hard at work in the bathroom when Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett & Detective Sergeant Danny Williams made their appearance.

Chin brought Steve & Danny over to meet Tom & Evie. This was something that Tom had wanted. A meeting with his counter part on the Five-0 team. He just wanted it to be not so job related. The introductions were made. " I've heard a lot about you and your team Commander.....You do great work. " Tom said while shaking McGarrett's hand. Steve admitted to hearing a lot about Tom & the MCU. In fact Steve was impressed with how Tom captured Travis after his escape on the mainland. Danny jumped in and said it sounded like a stunt Steve would have done. But Danny added that he would have been shot during the chase. Cat had been busy on her cell phone during the introductions. When she hung up her phone, Cat had great news for Tom & Evie. Cat said that the hotel felt so bad about what happened. They were upgrading Tom & Evie to a suite with no extra charge. All they had to do was call the front desk when they were ready to have their bags taken up.

This was great news since this room wouldn't be used again for sometime. The body of the young woman was taken from the bathroom. Max soon appeared and greeted his friends. Steve introduced Max to Tom & Evie. But Max didn't need to be told who Tom was. After seeing Tom, Max's eyes glazed over as if he was seeing a Hollywood star. " I know Lieutenant Reed quite well even though we've never met. " Max said while staring at Tom. His eyes never once blinked. Tom was puzzled at how Max would know him, but all that was explained. Max told how he belonged to a group of amateur detectives. Each member of this group picked one famous modern day detective as their idol. Max had chosen Tom Reed of the Los Angeles Police Department. Steve looked very hurt that Max picked Tom over him. Max said that it was no slight against Commander McGarrett, or any member of the Five-0 team. Max admitted to being a fan of the Dirty Harry movies. He said that only one real life detective was like Clint Eastwood in those movies. And that was Tom Reed. Max went on to say how honored he was to meet Tom face to face. Danny then gave out a sigh and asked Max if there was a reason for coming over here other then to drool all over the floor? Max turned his head towards Danny slightly and said yes.

Max said that he believed the woman was killed somewhere other then in the bathroom. He believed that she was just dumped there. Max pointed to the lack of blood for this fact. He would have more details later, but he believed the gunshot in the back of the head came from .32 caliber bullet. Fired from at least 5 feet away from the victim. It was then said that the woman was tortured. Cigarette burns, small cuts and other marks could clearly be seen on her body. Max added that he would know more after the autopsy was completed. After Max had given a short rundown, he left. Danny looked over at Evie who was still sitting on the bed. She seemed very amused by Max and his hero worship of Tom over Steve. There was something familiar about her. Danny was sure he had seen her somewhere before. Although, he had only been to Los Angeles a few times. Danny was sure he never met Evie there. It was possible that Danny was mistaking Evie for someone else. Anything was possible right now.

It took Evie about 5 seconds to remember. 5 seconds of that spark of recognition followed by her memory searching itself to put the face in the right time and place such that she could remember. It had been pretty much 8 years since she had seen him but the memories suddenly all clicked together moments before he was introduced to her. At 18 years old Evie had left home, left her family and literally travelled to the other side of the country to attend Rutgers University in New Jersey to study Criminal Justice. As part of her programme she had done an internship with the Newark police. Being the daughter of a third generation cop, and having a father and two brothers in the LAPD had helped her secure what many saw as a great internship. Cops regularly came into the University to do class but with the internship she was out with them... Various departments and functions of Newark PD. She'd seen Danny Williams a few times in various places. She'd heard him in a few others; Danny was rarely the quiet man in the room particularly if he was annoyed - although she remembered that he used his hands a lot when he talked. But then she'd been given the chance of a ride-along not just with a uniform patrol car which was the usual thing but with a Detective. Her ride along had been with Detective Danny Williams. He hadn't been particularly happy at the arrangement but he took it seriously enough and Evie had hung on every word, even though a lot of what he said she had heard from her Dad.

As she shook his hand now, it didn't look like he remembered her. Why would he? It had been one day shift. Evie didn't say anything. She didn't say anything at all. She continued smiling as Max seemed to engage in a little hero-worshipping of Tom and laughed softly at Danny's comment. Then she listened as Max gave McGarrett and his team his report. She tried not to get drawn into the case. This was 5-0s case and she imagined McGarrett wouldn't be too pleased at someone interfering -even if they were cops from LA and even if they were known to his team. But then he and Tom seemed to be getting on okay.

Unlike Evie, Tom openly showed signs that he wanted in on the case. He & McGarrett trade thoughts on the subject while Cat & Chin were getting started on finding out who this woman was. Danny was still busy searching his memory for where he had seen Evie before. He left Steve & Tom who were talking shop and walked over to where Evie was sitting. Danny introduced himself which made Evie laugh while saying she knew who he was. " Of course you do. " Danny said while laughing himself. They had been introduced a short time ago by Chin. This was however the first time they were talking to each other. " I don't want this to sound like I'm trying to pick you up or anything.......After all you're with Dirty Harry over there and it's easy to see you two are a couple......But I get this feeling we've met before. " Danny started. " Now I could be wrong....You are a great looking woman and perhaps I've mixed you up with someone else.....But I still got that feeling. " Danny continued while his eyes looked over every inch of Evie's face. " I've been in LA a few times.....The last time was when we worked a case with the OSP team of the NCIS.........Could we have met then? " Danny had a look on his face like he was studying a puzzle. He needed just one piece which would make that picture clear. That missing piece was where he had met Evie before, if ever. Danny was hoping by asking Evie, she would put that missing piece into place for him. Meanwhile, Tom & Steve were getting along great. These two were clearly cut from the same cloth. Chin & Cat had left to start working who had access to the room and the key cards which opened the door. They would also ask around about who was the last person to use the room. This case was just getting started, but it wouldn't take long before the clues started rolling in.

Evie smiled and then laughed.

"You know Detective, it's a good job you're not trying to pick me up. A woman could be mightily offended at being told that she was good looking and then told that she was utterly forgettable." she saw Danny's expression change and she shook her head a little. "Don't worry about. I'm kidding. And... we have met before. But not in LA." Danny's expression was a mixture of confusion and puzzlement. She could almost see him thinking ;if not in LA where?'. Evie decided to put him out of his misery.

"It was about eight years ago. I was in my Senior year at College." She could see that the penny still hadn't dropped.

"At Rutgers.... I... I had an internship with Newark PD." As she said the word 'internship' she saw the recognition dawn. As she started to say that he had been forced to take her out on a ride-along, he shouted the words. "The ride-along!" Evie nodded. "You were so pissed at having to drag around some stupid college intern who barely knew the first thing about real policing."

After finding out that just who Evie was, Danny relaxed and sat down beside her. There had been so many ride along's during that time. It was easy to forget. Danny apologized for not remembering Evie. That night came rushing back into Danny's mind. He remembered Evie as being very eager with a lot of questions. Danny said he was glad Evie stuck with being a cop. He also congratulated her on making sergeant in less then 10 years. Danny had no doubts that it was tough on Evie. He was sure that her rep had suffered during her climb up the ladder. Danny had a female partner once. Being a female cop wasn't easy. It was even harder when that female was also good looking. People always pointed their fingers and whispered about how those woman really got their ranks. There were always those who thought woman in police work slept their way to the top. Jumping from one bed to another and securing a higher rank along the way. At the time, Danny may not have been happy about taking Evie on the ride along. But he was able to spot someone who he felt would make a good cop. Danny always believed that Evie would be one of those who made a good cop. Evie & Danny continued to talk. They were catching up on the time that passed since they last met. Danny asked how Evie ended up with Tom? As Danny asked his question he called Tom "The Terminator." Tom's reputation of being a cowboy cop was known even here in Hawaii. He also needed to know if that story Chin told of Tom leaping from an overpass was true. It wasn't that Danny didn't believe Chin's story. It was that Danny couldn't believe that there was someone else like McGarrett running around out there. One like McGarrett was bad enough. Having someone else like that on the Island would be worse. Danny was starting to get the feeling he should be wearing his bullet proof vest all the time now.

Evie explained how Tom had been her Dad's partner and whether it was dumb luck or because someone thought it appropriate how she had finished up being partnered with him as soon as she got her detective shield. As she and Danny talked Steve, Max and Tom continued talking about the case. Periodically Steve would look over a little puzzled at what Danny and Evie could possibly be talking about and how come they seemed to be getting on so well so quickly. He would get that out of Danny later.

Once the body was gone and the crime techs were finished, the room started to empty. Evie put the couple of things they had taken out back into the suitcases and shut them up, then called down to the desk. They said goodbye to 5-0 and were taken up to the suite. The decor was much the same and the bedroom part of the suite looked exactly the same. There was a spacious living room attached to it and a balcony ran along the length of it and the bedroom. It wasn't as spacious as the last suite that Evie and Tom had been in back in LA, but Evie couldn't help but remember that weekend.

Evie followed Tom through to the bedroom and out onto the balcony. They stood side by side for a moment looking out before Tom moved behind Evie, wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back against him. She leaned back against him for a moment and then turned around in his arms. She placed her hands on his chest and then reached up on tiptoe and kissed him. She moaned softly as she felt his arms tighten around her and as Tom took a step forward pushing her back against the railing. After a couple of minutes making out, they broke the kiss and stepped back inside. Evie changed into a t-shirt and shorts; Tom into the Hawaiian shirt he had picked up at the airport and shorts. For the next couple of hours they walked around, found their bearings, identified a few places they had to see. Then they had headed back to the hotel, showered and agreed to have dinner there that night.

Over dinner, Tom still seemed a little distracted and it didn't take a genius to know that he was still thinking about the girl's body...about the crime...and about the story behind it. So much for the break away and just the two of them Evie thought.

"You know, if it were the other way around and McGarrett had turned up in LA, unless he was linked to the case some how, like Chin was, there's no way you'd let an outside cop get into one of your cases....but....you could always try asking.... Volunteer your services. He'll probably tell you thanks but no thanks, but you never know. If being on vacation whilst there's a crime to solve is such a chore..." Evie grinned a little as she picked up her glass of wine. "...he might be willing to give you a little relief from the boredom."

Tom knew Evie was right. He wouldn't want, nor let anyone outside detective join in on a case unless they had something to offer. Tom had nothing to offer McGarrett, or his Five-0 team. Working with Chin back in LA showed Tom that Lieutenant Kelly was a fine detective. Tom didn't know much about the others. He knew McGarrett through reputation and Evie explained how she met Danny Williams years ago. Steve told Tom that Catherine "Cat" Rollins was a former intelligence officer with the US Navy and had served on the USS Enterprise. The Five-0 team worked to together like a well oiled machine. Not unlike Tom's own MCU team. Tom knew that neither him, nor Evie had anything to offer on this case. There was no link that Tom knew of to Los Angeles, or any case the MCU had worked on. It seemed that their vacation wouldn't be derailed by the start of a new Five-0 case. Tom explained that he wasn't bored. It was just that being a cop for so long made it hard to focus on a vacation when a murder case was going on.........They don't need our help. " I'm sure McGarrett and his team will have the case solved in no time. " Tom said while lift his glass of wine to his lips. He took a drink before placing the glass back down. Tom & Evie went back to talking about their plans for the next few days. Where they'd be going and what they wanted to see. Tom suggested that after dinner they go for a walk along the beach. It was beautiful at this time during the evening. The sun was slowly setting. Tom & Evie had never stopped to watch and enjoy a sunset before. A letter was delivered to the hotel where Tom & Evie were staying. This letter was addressed to Lieutenant Thomas Reed.

Back in Los Angeles, James & Kim found themselves hip deep in not one murder, but two. Not long after Tom & Evie left for Hawaii, James & Kim were called to the Hollywood home of actor Edwin Gage. The British screen actor now living in LA was found by his cleaning lady. His body showed signs of torture in the same way that the female body in Hawaii had. He was also shot in the back of the head. Chief Beck wanted the MCU taking lead on this case since Gage was such a well known actor. James & Kim started their investigation. It had crossed James's mind to call Tom & Evie. But he really didn't really want to bother them with a case such as this. James & Kim were capable of handling a murder case. If they needed help, Jack & Steve were there ready to fill in. A couple of hours into the investigation, James got a call from the LA County Sheriff's Department. They had something that the MCU team needed to see. James & Kim drove to the Malibu address given to them. After arriving at the beautiful house on the beach, James & Kim were shown another dead body. The body of actor Lee Richmond showed signs of the same torture that Edwin Gage had suffered. James could feel in his bones that something was terribly wrong here. Two well known actors were dead. Both bodies had been tortured in a similar manner and found in their homes. James again thought about calling Tom. but decided against that. These cases although brutal in nature, were just murder cases. Certainly nothing to bring Tom & Evie home from their much needed vacation.

After dinner, Tom and Evie headed out for the beach in front of the hotel. Although it was dark there was still plenty of life around. Lots of couples having the same idea as Tom and Evie; walking on the cool sand as the sun was settling beyond the horizon. They agreed that they would spend the next couple of days on the beach and Tom could get practicing on his surfing. Evie would happily watch from the beach although Tom was adamant that he was going to get Evie on a board. They also agreed when they'd spend the day around the memorials around Pearl... The Nevada, the Oklahoma and the Arizona. After about 40 minutes of walking, they managed to find their way to a little quiet space near Fort Derussy Park. Tom sat down on the beach with Evie sat just in front of him between his legs, leaning back against him. Tom's hands slipped under Evie's t-shirt as he kissed at her neck. Evie's hands caressed Tom's thighs at the side of her as she closed her eyes and relaxed into him. For the next twenty minutes they were just lost in each other before Tom suggested that they should go back and go to bed. Evie liked the sound of that.

It didn't take them too long to get back to the hotel. Once there they decided to have a cold beer before heading upstairs. Tom went to the bar while Evie went to the desk to get their key. Evie was surprised when the key wasn't the only thing she was handed. She looked at the envelope and the typed name on the front as she walked to where Tom was.

"Looks like you've gotten someone's attention." She handed Tom the envelope as she picked up her beer.

Tom ordered two beers from the bartender while sitting down on a stool. The bar like many places in the general area of the Royal Hawaiian was filled with happy people. Most were people like Tom & Evie. Here on vacation, enjoying the peace & beauty which the Islands were famous for. The bartender quickly brought the beers which Tom paid for. He was taking a good long drink when Evie appeared. The envelope with Tom's name & rank clearly typed on the front was a surprise. It had no post mark which meant it wasn't delivered by the US Mail. As Evie sat down next to Tom, he opened the envelope and pulled out the letter. It was typed just as his name had been. Tom began to read the letter out loud so Evie could hear what was on the paper.

" I hope you enjoyed the gift that was left in your room. It was just something to welcome you and Evie to paradise. Two such famous detectives shouldn't have a mere fruit basket placed in their room by someone who couldn't understand what a struggle life and death really are. They should be greeted with the corpse of an innocent who was brutally murdered. That's a proper greeting for detectives. Lori Donovan fit the role of the innocent nicely. She really begged for her life well. The poor girl could have won an award, but sadly there are no awards for playing roles in real life and life has so many roles to play. Speaking of roles. Have you seen the movie Purgatory in Paradise? It came out a few months ago. It will soon be spoken of again. Only this time, it will be for real. I hope you & Evie enjoy what time you have left. Because I'll be joining you two soon. " The letter was unsigned.

Tom handed Evie the letter even though he read it too her. There was silence between them for a few moments. " The dead girl was a message........Meant for us. " Tom said as he slowly started to turn on the bar stool. He looked around the room at the 20 plus other people in the bar. They all seemed normal and happy, nothing was out of place. None of the faces however were familiar to Tom. Someone delivered that letter and that someone could still be around. Watching and waiting for their chance to strike. It was just a question of who and when they would play their hand. Tom asked Evie what she knew about the movie Purgatory in Paradise? He hadn't seen it, but did remember seeing it advertised in the newspaper.

Evie put her glass down slowly as Tom read out the letter. So much for a cold beer before bed. So much for bed. And in truth, the probably meant their vacation was done. But Evie was now as intrigued as Tom was. She took the letter carefully trying to hold only the very edges. She didn't expect that there was going to be any prints on the paper but just in case.... Evie shook her head a little, slowly as
she placed the letter on the bar after first checking it was dry.

"Some cop action movie set in LA. That's all I know. One of those movies where reality bears no resemblance." She looked up at Tom. "Do you want to call McGarrett? I'll check with the desk... In case they remember who handed this in." She eased herself off the stool and headed back to the front desk in the lobby. There was a smartly dressed young blonde girl stood there checking something on a computer screen.

"Hi...that letter that was left for Lieutenant Reed? Did you know who left it?" The girl shook her head. "No Ma'am. We had a group of new guests arrive and once they had all checked in, it was just lying on the end of the desk...just there." She pointed to the far end of the desk. "Okay, thanks." She went back to Tom and sat down.

"Did you call 5-0?"

Tom's mind started to work on who could be behind the letter. He nodded when Evie said about calling McGarrett while she checked the front desk for answers. Tom's list of enemies was long. During his 17 plus years as a cop, Tom racked up more enemies then he had friends. But it couldn't be someone from Tom distant past. It had to be someone from the last few years. Evie's name was mentioned in the letter. Plus the person said two such famous detectives. Tom looked over the letter again as he dialed McGarrett's cell phone. The words famous, roles, awards and movie just seemed to jump off the page. Tom was sure that the missing piece to this puzzle was that movie Purgatory in Paradise. Many confused purgatory with hell. It was believed by some that they were one in the same, but according to Roman Catholic teaching. Purgatory is a state, or place of purification, or temporary punishment. It's a place in between heaven & hell. Suddenly McGarrett's voice broke Tom's train of thought. He told Steve about the letter and what it said. Steve was already heading out for his truck when he told Tom, he'd be right there.

Tom's mind again drifted back into deep thought. Certainly someone like Osiris, or Mason Hill, or even Clayton Snow could be behind this letter and the killing of Lori Donovan. As far as Tom knew, all those men were still locked away in prison. Although it was possible one could have escaped without Tom hearing about it. Tom would have suspected Khaled Muta Ghanem. But Tom killed Khaled when he shot down his helicopter while trying to escape. Then Cyrus Gates came into mind, but he to was reported dead in Mexico along with Marie Cordova. Again Tom was snapped from his thoughts, but this time by Evie. Tom looked at Evie for a second before saying he called Steve. He said Steve would met them here at the hotel. Tom told Evie his belief that the movie Purgatory in Paradise was the key to who sent the letter and who killed that girl. He slipped the letter back into the envelope. Tom then started looking around the bar again. He wasn't looking for suspect this time. Tom was hoping to spot someone who may know this movie. His eyes fell on two girls sitting at a table not far away. Both girls looked to be in their early 20's. Just the type Tom thought would know about current movies.

Tom grabbed his beer and Evie's. He handed her to her before taking her hand and leading Evie to the table. Tom introduced himself and Evie before asking if they could sit. The two girls looked at Tom for a moment before saying sure. The two girls said their names were Marcy & Rachel. As it turned out they were from Los Angeles on vacation. Tom laughed while saying he and Evie were here from LA from the same reason. Marcy & Rachel believed Tom & Evie were swingers trying to pick them up. Neither of the girls minded this because Tom & Evie were both good looking and the girls were into kinky sex. The conversation quickly turned to current movies which is where Tom wanted it to go. He asked Marcy & Rachel what they knew about a movie called Purgatory in Paradise? Rachel said it was a fantastic movie about two LA cops who chase a madman to Hawaii where he planned on destroying the islands with a nuclear bomb. Marcy then sighed while saying it was a shame that Lee Richmond had died. Tom asked who that was? The girls just shook their heads not understanding how anyone couldn't know Lee Richmond. " He was only one of the hottest stars in Hollywood. " Marcy said while pulling out her mobile device and showed Tom a picture of Lee Richmond which was with the story of his body being found. Tom took the device and showed Evie the story. He pointed out that Richmond played the character of Tom Reese in that movie. One of his co stars was Tori Summers who played Eve Tyler. Just then McGarrett & Cat walked into the bar. Tom spotted them and waved. He thanked Marcy & Rachel for their help while giving Marcy her device back. " Let's go. " Tom said to Evie. As they were leaving the table, Rachel said maybe they could hook up later? She added that they didn't mind getting it on with other girls.

Tom & Evie rushed over to where Steve was standing with Cat. " Steve.....That girl who was found in our room was left there as a message......This isn't a normal murder case......It's a twisted game of revenge aimed at me and Evie. " Tom said before telling Steve & Cat about the movie and how it tied into the case. He showed them the letter which was left at the front desk. Cat said she had that movie download on her laptop. She confessed to downloading it without paying for it. Steve just rolled his eyes at Cat's confession. She then admitted to not having seen the movie yet. It was one of those things she was planning on doing, but didn't get the time. Tom suggested that they view the movie together. Cat said her laptop was back at Steve's house. Tom said he and Evie would met them out front. He wanted to swing by their room first before leaving for Steve's house. Tom wanted to pick up his & Evie's weapons. If someone from their past was on the island. Tom didn't want to be unarmed when they popped up.

Once Tom had told Evie that he had called McGarrett and suggested that the movie was key, Evie updated him with what the girl at the desk had said. "No description or ID coming from there. And I didn't see any cameras in the lobby. Tom was already looking around the room and Evie was a little surprised to have her beer handed back to her and then to be led across to the table with the two girls sitting at it.

As the two girls gave then the brief synopsis of the plot, suddenly Evie's memory kicked in.

"Oh God. Tom. The Princess. Najia. That damn movie we had to sit through. Remember. The male cop who was presented as the gun nut who kept saying really stupid corny lines. His female partner who went around half dressed...slept with pretty much anyone with a pulse. Remember?" She watched as Tom thought back and as the memories started to filter through, Evie commented that they needed to see it again.

"We had our attention on her Ladyship through a lot of that movie and the rest of the time we were too stunned by the portrayal of the two main characters to take much notice of the what little plot there seemed to be. We need to see it again." As Evie finished speaking so Tom saw McGarrett and Catherine. They stood up and thanked the girls before saying goodnight. When they suggested hooking up, Tom looked at Evie then back to the girls. He said they probably weren't going to have the time but in truth he was a little disappointed at having to turn down the offer.

They headed over and Evie said nothing as Tom explained what he thought he'd worked out by that time. Tom handed McGarrett the letter and he and Evie watched as McGarrett and Catherine read through it quickly. When Catherine commented that she had the movie, they quickly agreed to go back to McGarrett's to re watch it, but they first picked up their guns. Evie was now as eager to know what this was all about and who was out for them, but she couldn't help be a little disappointed as she slipped on the holster and then located the Glock into it after loading it. She slipped a shirt over the top of the t-shirt and that did a little to cover up the holster. And then she headed back down to the lobby with Tom. Twenty minutes later they were pulling up at the McGarrett house.

Tom had totally forgotten about seeing that movie. It had slipped his memory because Tom spent most of the movie trying to keeping Princess Najia's hands to herself. Thankfully Evie remembered it which brought it back to Tom's memory. From what Tom could remember, the movie featured over the top characters based on him & Evie. Tom like Evie wanted to see it again and they would soon enough. After getting their weapons, Tom & Evie joined Cat & Steve out front. They drove in Steve's truck back to the McGarrett home. It took perhaps five minutes for Cat to get her laptop and get the movie going. 10 minutes into the movie, Tom was shaking his head. This was the worst piece of trash he had ever seen. A porn movie had better acting then this crap. The character of Eve Tyler was painted as the office slut. Willingly jumping into bed with cops & crooks alike. Somehow she helped her partner, Tom Reese stop the bad guy at the end. Reese was the loner cop with the chip on his shoulder. He had one corny line after another when he wasn't blowing someone away.

The movie dragged on for a good 30 minutes before the main bad guy, one Randy Simon was seen. The actor Edwin Gage played the part of a psychotic madman well. It brought a chill to Tom's body which ran down his spine. The only character who seemed real was Randy Simon. That was because Tom & Evie knew who the character was based upon. Edwin Gage played the part of Simon Randell like he was the same man. There was no doubt in Tom's mind who sent the letter and who had the girl murdered. " My God.......He's alive.....And he's coming after us. " Tom said while standing up. Steve & Catherine both looked at each other. They looked at Tom, then shifted their eyes towards Evie. " Who's alive?.......Who's coming after you two? " Steve asked to anyone who was listening. It was easy to see that Tom was shaken by the character on the screen. Steve & Catherine sat waiting for an answer. Their eyes shifting from Tom to Evie and back again. Finally Cat placed her hand on Evie's shoulder. " Evie?.......What's going on here?......Who are we dealing with? " Cat asked hoping to pull Evie out of her own blank stare.

Evie looked at Tom a little wide eyed as she came to the same inevitable conclusion that Tom had. She looked at Catherine then at the small screen as the credits rolled. She looked back at the expectant faces of the two members of 5-0.

"Simon Randall is a killer. Intelligent man. He was a Sociology professor at UC Berkeley. He... He lost it. Started lecturing kids on how society was evil. Got himself a little cult...the Family... Which aimed to bring down society and then the Professor would become a new God in the new world order." She looked at Tom for a moment. "Tom and my Dad took him down first time about 11 years ago. Him and his little group had killed more than 20 people. Both of them were shot up pretty bad in the process." In her head Evie was remembering Steve breaking the news to her that Jack had been shot; she remembered the frequent hospital visits; she remembered the recovery. She looked back at Steve and Catherine.

"About a year ago, the department of Corrections decided to move him. With a little help from some remaining friends, he got out." She took a breath. "He killed my mother ... Crucified her...and ... He tried a second time to kill my Dad. " She remembered the warehouse. She remembered the image of her Dad tied to the chair. She remembered Randall placing the muzzle of her own Glock against her shoulder. She remembered the explosion. Without thinking her hand came up to her shoulder...rubbed at it gently. It was the only scar she had. "Last time we saw him, he disappeared in a hail of gunfire and a very large explosion. Probability was that he was dead, but we never found his body. James...my younger brother... He was never really convinced Simon Randall was dead." She looked at Tom. "Guess he was right after all."

Tom stood silent as Evie told the tail of Simon Randell. Each time she spoke about the past. That moment flashed in Tom's mind. It was all so clear, as if it had happened just days ago. Even the confrontation between Tom, Jack & Simon seemed to be only days old. Now like the phoenix, it seemed that Simon had risen from the ashes of the past. Returning to continue his work of destroying society and building a new one. Evie's last line spoken made Tom turn and look at her. Only a fool would try to deny the facts which were written out in front of him. Tom was no fool and Evie was right. James was always sure Simon was still alive. " No offence to you or your team Steve.......But you have no idea what is coming. " Tom finally spoke. " Simon Randell will kill anyone and everyone.......He'll try and turn these islands into hell on Earth. " Tom then asked Evie to call James back in LA. He wanted her to find out about Lee Richmond's murder. Steve stood up saying that they could lock down the islands. Keep anyone from the mainland from flying in. Tom just shook his head while saying Simon was probably already here. " He wouldn't have exposed himself unless he was already somewhere on the islands. " Tom added. Deep down Steve knew Tom was right. A man who had set his sights on destroying the world and rebuilding a new one wouldn't announce himself before showing up. Steve asked Cat to call Danny & Chin. He told her to tell them to met at the Five-0 headquarters. Steve then dialed the Governor of Hawaii on his cell phone. He need to tell his boss that a madman had come to paradise with murder on his mind. Just what Simon Randell was planning was any body's guess. Killing Tom & Evie wouldn't be his only reason for coming to Hawaii. He could have done that in Los Angeles. Simon always had a bigger plan to cap off his revenge killings. The Hawaiian Islands and possibly the world was at stake in this high risk game and Simon always enjoyed a good game.

The thought of Simon still being alive chilled Evie to the bone. She could imagine her father's reaction. And that of her brothers'. James would certainly take no pleasure in being right. Evie nodded at Tom's suggestion that she call home. She stepped away from the others as she pulled her cell phone from her back pocket and she walked somewhat aimlessly to the other end of the room. It was late. As she clicked the speed dial link and listened to the phone connecting and ringing, she imagined all the places he might be; at home or out on a date or at Jack's or Steve's. He picked up.

"What? Are you bored already. All that sun sea and sand and you're missing work?" Evie couldn't help but smile.

"Hello to you too." She hesitated for a moment and the smile disappeared. "Where are you?" James matched her hesitation. He knew that if he told her she would know that something had happened. He didn't know she was already a couple of steps ahead of where he thought she was.

"I'm guessing you're still at work? I need some information about Lee Richmond's death. The MCU have that case don't we?"

"How did you...what...."

"Simon Randall is back." Evie could imagine James' expression, could picture him sitting at his desk. He didn't need to say anything. She imagined him thinking through the same events as she had.

"We... We had a body waiting for us... In the hotel room. She was... She was a mess. Then There was this letter... Anyway... We heard that Lee Richmond was dead and it could be linked."she heard James sitting forward in his chair.

"It's not the only case we have. We haven't got the PM reports yet so the TOD might put things the other way around but Richmond is our second body. The first was another actor called Edwin Gage. Both appear to have been killed in the same way."

"Torture and then shot in the back of the head?"

"Yeah. How did you..."

"Same as our vic here. Tom is talking with 5-0 now. They got our case earlier. Looks like we're on either side of the same case. McGarrett is doing his thing, getting things moving here." James gave Evie all the details they had at that point which wasn't that much. Evie gave James Lori's name, details of her death and of the letter. They agreed to keep in touch and they finished the call with James saying he needed to go and tell Jack about Randall.

"Be careful." Evie smiled. "You too... And don't let Dad get on a plane to come out here. Tell him the MCU and 5-0 have got it."

With the call finished, Evie returned to the others and filled them in on the details of Richmond's death and also broke the news of Edwin Gage's murder.

"Okay." Steve looked around them. "Danny and Chin are going to meet us at the office. Let's get over there and see what we have, where we go next to make sure we put this guy down for good." Catherine closed down the laptop and the four of them headed for 5-0's HQ.

The drive to Five-0's headquarters took very little time. This was due to the fact that Steve had a lead foot and he blew through more then one red light. Such driving wasn't new to Evie. Her father & Tom drove in the same manner when they were in a hurry. Soon the famous Aliiolani Hale building came into view. Out front in the courtyard stood the statue of King Kamehameha. His right hand raised into the air as if he was greeting Tom & Evie. Steve drove his truck into the parking area. Everyone exited quickly and dashed into the building. Danny & Chin were already waiting in the Five-0 office when the others arrived. Tom was impressed with the setup McGarrett's team had. The computer table in the center of the main area caught Tom's eye right away. He commented to Evie that they needed a new office. Something more updated and less like a squad room. The MCU had computers, but nothing so high tech. The group formed up around the the large computer. Chin had already been working on a number of things. One of which was getting Simon Randell's LAPD file. With a swipe of his hand, Chin made a picture of Simon fly from the table to a large computer screen hanging from the wall. Steve then asked for Tom to take over.

Tom moved around the computer and stood beside the screen. He filled Danny & Chin in on how dangerous Simon Randell really was. Tom said that Simon doesn't care about wrong, or right. He doesn't care about breaking laws since he doesn't believe in them anyway. Tom continued by saying how Simon enjoys killing. He would kill every man, woman & child on the Earth and not bat an eyelash. Tom said that Simon was very intelligent, but also insane. Simon's IQ was well above genius level which Chin pointed out. " We are dealing with a man who wants to kill as many people as possible......Then rebuild society in his own image. " Evie then spoke of how Simon sees himself as God and his mission is to bring about the end of the world. Danny questioned Tom on how Simon stayed hidden for so long? Tom said that Simon doesn't strike until he's ready. Evie then told Danny & Chin about the gun battle at the LA Docks. Obviously Simon survived, but he must have been injured to have stayed underground for so long. Like a snake, Simon stayed hidden away until he was healed and whatever he was planning on doing next was ready to be unleashed upon the world.

Once Tom had finished talking about Simon, it was Chin's turn to jump in. He told everyone about starting a search of people coming on to the island while investigating Lori Donovan's death. Chin's hand again swiped over the computer sending an image onto the screen. " This group landed on Oahu 2 hours after Tom & Evie landed. " The pictured showed a man in a wheelchair. His face covered in bandages. Behind him pushing his chair was a beautiful blonde woman dressed as a nurse. Behind her was a man wearing a large hat with glasses & beard and mustache. A second man was walking next to the man in the wheelchair. Chin zoomed in on the woman first, bring her face up. Then her California driver's license appeared next to the image from the airport. " This is Tori Summers.....From that Purgatory in Paradise movie Cat told me about.......The man walking next to the wheelchair is Raphael Lobo.....He's got a record a mile long. " Chin made Raphael's LAPD mugshot appear along with some of his background. " Lobo's been involved with many street gangs over the years.......He's done time for B & E.......Armed Robbery........Rape........And murder........All done while he was still under the age of 18........Lobo was released from a youth center and sent to prison six years ago after his 18th birthday.........There he served time until he was cut loose 6 months ago. " Chin couldn't identify who the men in the wheel chair was, or who the man wearing the hat was. He did say that the beard & mustache looked fake. " Obviously this man knew he would be on camera and wanted to hide his face........Perhaps because he knew Tom and Evie could identify him. " Danny then spoke up asking how many old enemies Tom & Evie brought with them from LA? Chin said that Simon wasn't on the island when Lori Donovan was murdered. This meant that someone on Oahu was working with Simon Randell.

Catherine was the next to talk. She told how the Royal Hawaiian used key cards to open the room doors. Cat said that Lori worked at the Royal Hawaiian as a housekeeper. Her own card was used to dump her body in Tom & Evie's room. It was possible Lori was tortured for information on what room Tom & Evie would be staying in. The hotel manager said that Lori cleaned that same room getting it ready for Evie Taylor. She was then reported missing to the HPD the same day. 24 hours later, her body was found in the bathroom of the room she last cleaned. Catherine then read over the report Max filed with Five on Lori Donovan. She said Max had found that the woman was burned with cigarettes and showed signs of being electrocuted. From the marks on her body, Max stated that the cord from a small appliance was used to torture her. This wasn't enough to kill her, but it was enough to cause pain and damage to the skin. The cord was taken from perhaps a toaster. The ends were split before it was plugged in and used to torture Lori.

An eerie silence fell over the room. Never before had McGarrett and his team ran into anyone who was so cold. Suddenly the silence was broken when McGarrett's phone went off. Steve reached into his pocket pulling the phone out. His face turned pale very quickly after answering the phone. " Okay......Put the call through. " Steve said as he lowered the phone. He placed his phone on the computer and tied it to the loud speakers while telling Tom someone wanted to speak with him. " This is Commander McGarrett of 5-0......Go ahead. " There was a moment of silence before a gravely voice came on. " Ah yes.......Commander Steven McGarrett.......Leader of the famous 5-0 task force........I expected you and your team to take part in my little game.......I've done my homework on your group commander........I know everything there is to know about your team. " The voice was very horse sounding, but there was no doubt that it belonged to Simon Randell. " Your pretty little girlfriend Catherine must be standing next to you........I would enjoy making her scream and beg for her life. " Cat who was standing beside Steve looked at him with panic in her eyes. " You son of a bitch!......I'll make sure your body is fed to the sharks! " Steve yelled out which only brought laughter from Simon. " I'm sure you would commander.....But you won't get that chance. " Simon added before Tom yelled at Simon to stop! " Enough Simon!......Stop these games now! " Simon fell silent before greeting Tom. " Stop the game?....Before it's even started?.......Thomas.....You know I can't do that........I must complete my work of destroying mankind so I can rebuild it........And the games only make it more fun. " Tom shook his head, he then asked what Simon was planning on doing this time? Simon again laughed. " Straight to the point Thomas.......You'll never change. " Simon then started talking about his plans. Doing such s thing didn't bother Simon. Telling everyone his plans was part of Simon's game. " Thanks to the United States Government I now have the means to bring about mass death.......I plan on releasing what I've taken and killing as many people as possible. "

Tom looked around at everyone standing at the computer. He knew Simon wouldn't make something like that up. If he couldn't do it, he wouldn't have said it. " Simon......It's me that you really want......Stop this plan and I'll willing give myself up too you........You can do whatever you want too me.......Just don't hurt anyone else. " Tom spoke in a clear calm voice. All eyes in the room were now looking at Tom. " You play the role of hero well Thomas.......But the game won't change.......I'll give you 36 hours to find me.......If you can't in 36 hours I'll release the plague on the good people of Hawaii. " Simon then included a warning. He said if any attempt was made to warn the population of Hawaii, or of America. He'd release the plague and the game would be over. Everyone knew that the news would cause the population to panic and many would die just from that. Simon said that through police work, he could be found. But the clock was ticking.

About 20 minutes before Simon's phone call. A large cardboard box was found in the parking lot outside the Central Station in Los Angeles. Written on the outside of the box in red was the message " A gift for the MCU." James & Kim were called to the parking lot. The area had been sealed off in case there was a bomb inside. The bomb squad was called in and scanned the box using an ultra sound machine. They discovered a body inside the box. James was handed a letter which was found near the box. He opened the letter and read over the paper inside. James's eyes flew open wide and yelled for everyone to get away from the box! He said a plague victim was inside! James told Kim to call the CDC in Atlanta. He then told other officers to contact all the hospitals in the county. This letter was signed by Simon Randell. James pulled out his cell phone and dialed Evie's number. Back in Hawaii, Evie's cell phone went off. " You should take that Evie my dear.......I'm sure it's your brother James or another family member with news from home. " Simon figured that Evie would get the call from home. Family members often call their loved ones in times of great distress. Simon also had plenty of inside information thanks to the LAPD mole.

Evie and Tom sat in the rear as Steve sped through the streets of honolulu. Evie couldn't help but think this wasn't how she imagined getting her first look at the City or the island. She was already resigned to the fact that the so called vacation was going to consist of one walk on on beach. If it was possible to dislike Randall more than she had before, she did. She took a breath and pushed her resentment at the loss of the vacation out of her head. It was replaced by memories of Simon. Of her dad beaten and bloodied. Of hails of bullets and large explosions. And none of it changed anything. Simon was still alive. Still bent on his own version of Revelations.

When the truck stopped she followed the others quietly. Tom was right. 5-0s HQ looked good. Clean. Modern. Hi tech. She couldn't help wonder what Chin must have thought seeing the MCU.

She listened to Tom although there was nothing new for her. She listened to Chin, looking closely at the images on the screen. Tori Summers she knew from the film. She stared at Lobo. She was reminded a little of Rodrigues ... one of the prisoners Mason Hill 'introduced' her to at San Quentin... She wondered whether he wore the Latino Devils tattoo somewhere under his jacket and shirt. She listened to Cat. Donovan had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time. As Cat described her injuries Evie was reminded of the warehouse once again.... Her dad tied to the chair whilst she had been strung up from the ceiling. The phone ringing broke her memory but seconds later the familiar voice made her almost shiver. She looked at the phone resting on the computer table as she listened. Only on the mention of the plague did she look up and meet the surprised gaze of others. Tom's response was not what she had expected though. That he would have made such an offer took her by surprise and that he was so quick to be willing to walk away from people who cared about him... Seemingly without giving it a second thought. Even if he had no problem walking away from her, there was Alyssa and his father. Simon would never hand over what he had. He'd kill Tom and then carry on with his plan. Tom had to know that. Her own phone ringing in her back pocket broke her train of thought. She pulled the phone out and then froze as Simon spoke directly to her. A sense of panic suddenly filled her. What was it that had happened in LA? Had Simon done something to her Dad or to Steve? That he mentioned James suggested it wasn't him. She looked at the screen and saw James picture. She pushed a button and brought the phone to her ear.

"Yeah...yeah. What?" Evie was intentionally saying very little, conscious of Simon being able to hear what she did say. "Okay. I call you later." She ended the call and looked around the room and then back down to Steve's phone. She said nothing

Tom knew that Simon would kill him. His offer to give himself up was made in the hopes that Simon could be talked out of his plan of mess murder. Tom was willing to sacrifice himself to save millions. Among those who could be saved would be Evie, Alyssa, his father and friends. The people he cared most for. Evie never did understand Tom's heroic actions and perhaps she never would. Tom never used the word hero when speaking of himself. Others did and those reports who were fair often called Tom a hero. Tom was willing to pay a high price to make sure those close to him were safe from harm. This was apart of his character and something that would never change. Simon as expected, turned down Tom's offer. He had plans on catching Tom & Evie as they grew closer to finding him. Simon knew that Tom & Evie would work together on this case. Like a skillful games master, Simon would lead Tom & Evie towards him while leading the Five-0 team away. Once Simon had Tom & Evie in his grip. They would suffer greatly.

There was silence in the room as Evie spoke on her phone. The room remained quiet even after the phone call was over. Evie stood there saying nothing. Everyone stared at Evie wondering why she was being silent. Finally Simon spoke up again. " What's wrong Evie?......Does the cat have your tongue? " Simon laughed. " Obviously Evie has been dazzled by my brilliance.........So since she can't speak I'll tell you what she knows. " Simon continued. " A plague victim has been found in Los Angeles........Right outside the Central Station........Don't worry though.......It was just a street bum......Just a way of showing I can do what I say........I assure you all that this bum will be the first of many......You have 36 hours and counting " The phone then went dead. McGarrett got the HPD dispatcher back on the line. He knew they were tracing the call, but Simon used a burner phone that couldn't be traced. " DAMN IT! " Steve growled out in disgust. He then told everyone that the trace didn't work. " Okay......we have to use police work....So what leads do we have? " Tom said looking towards Chin who was standing by with more info. He was going to tell everyone about the clues they had so far. But that changed when Simon called.

Chin swiped his hand over the computer sending two pictures up onto the screen. " HPD found prints from these two men in the bathroom where Lori was found......The one of the right is William Wu......Known as Billy......The second man is Charles "Chuckie" Parr.......Both are locals and could be linked to Simon. " Tom was glad that they at least had a clear starting point. Steve said he needed to fill the Governor in. He left the computer and entered his office. While Steve was gone, Cat spoke of how traces of motor oil had been found by Max on Lori's body. Chin pointed out that Chuckie Parr worked in a garage. Steve reappeared after about 10 minutes. " You two are cleared to work in Hawaii. " Steve said as he handed both Evie & Tom Five-0 badges. " You're both now members of the Five-0 task force. " This was quite a surprise. Tom expected to work with the team. but joining their team hadn't crossed his mind. Steve told Chin & Catherine to keep digging. He & Danny were going after Billy Wu. Steve then said Tom & Evie could go get Chuckie Parr. Chin was sending addresses for both men to Steve's cell phone and Evie's cell phone. Along with the address, Chin included directions on how to get there from Five-0 Headquarters. There was one slight problem. Tom & Evie hadn't rented a car. Steve had that covered. He said that an unmarked HPD police unit should be downstairs by the time they reach the parking lot. Both teams then left heading out to catch their suspects.

Evie didn't really care that the others might think she was stupid or struck dumb. She had no intention though of giving Simon the satisfaction of hearing anything in her voice in reaction to what James had told her. It also wasn't general practice to let suspects know what you knew but in letting Simon speak it was also possible that he might tell them something they didn't. As it happened Simon pretty much covered the key points. That CDC had been called wasn't mentioned but obviously everyone would have known that as it was standard operating procedure. She continued to stand in silence whilst Steve and Chin and Catherine took them through the details about Billy Wu and Charles Parr. When Steve reappeared and gave her and Tom 5-0 badges, she stared at it for a moment and then looked at Tom who seemed to be quite chuffed at the 'reassignment'. Steve and Tom moved back to the computer table leaving Evie stood looking at the badge. Danny stepped over to her.

"He does that. He had me reassigned from HPD as his partner without even asking... Not a word. Just turned up at my door in the pouring rain and told me that I worked for him. A few hours later he got me shot and I punched him. Evie looked at Danny and couldn't help but smile.

Once Steve had allocated the duties, Evie followed Tom out to the car. She read out the directions to Tom so that they could get to Parr's address. It was well past midnight and they were expecting to find Parr home and tucked up in bed. In between giving directions, Evie called James back and brought him up to date on what they knew. She told him about the conversation with Simon and she asked how Jack had taken the news. James apologised for the way things had turned out for their vacation.

"Hardly your fault. It was stupid to think that any kind of vacation was possible. Should have known better." They signed off just as Tom pulled up outside Parr's house. They parked for a while watching the house. There were still some signs of life. Flickering low lights suggested that a TV was on in one room. Evie waited for Tom to make the decision to go.

"Are we just making an arrest and taking him back to 5-0?" Evie asked. Tom nodded. There was certainly enough evidence for an arrest. They got out of the car and walked up to the door. Tom knocked. After a few moments of silence, Tom and Evie looked at each other. Evie nodded and as both of them pulled their firearms, Tom immediately headed around the back of the house. Moments later, Evie heard a crash, and some groans. She moved around the side of the house yo be met by Parr, cuffed, walking in front of Tom. She moved to one side and let them past and then followed. Tom was reading Parr his rights but Parr just wanted to know what was going on. When he was done with the Miranda, Tom mentioned Lori.

"We just want to know why your fingerprints would be there."

After reversing the directions, twenty minutes later, they were back at 5-0 HQ and booking in their prisoner.

It was just dumb luck that Tom caught Parr. Moving around to cover the back was just SOP for any police officer. Tom didn't expect Parr to run since there was no way he could know the police were at his door. Not unless he peeked out and saw them. Parr climbed from a rear window, but lost his grip and crashed into some garage cans. Tom had stopped at the corner of the house after seeing the lower half of a man's body hanging from the window. He leaned against the house as Chuckie hit the cans. His groans filled the quiet night air. Tom pulled a zip tie from his back pocket and secured Chuckie's hands. After picking Chuckie up from the ground, Tom pushed him towards the front. As they walked passed Evie, Tom just shrugged his shoulders. Some questions were asked after Chuckie was read his rights. He decided to keep silent. Tom put him into the backseat then climbed in himself. He tossed Evie the keys before doing so. Evie drove back to 5-0 hq where Chuckie was booked. He was then taken to a room with a single chair. Here Chuckie would sit until Steve & Danny got back.

Steve & Danny didn't find Billy at home. They found him at a bar which he hung out at. After a chase and a fight, Billy was cuffed and taken into custody. Steve & Danny returned some 20 minutes after Tom & Evie had. Billy was booked then taken into another room with only a single chair sitting in the middle. They had enough on both men to make a murder charge stick, but they all wanted Simon. Tom had an idea that worked well for him & Jack over the years. When they had two suspects, they would tell each one that the other one was rolling over on them. Setting them up for a single murder charge. Since their prints were the only ones inside that bathroom. They could go down for murder, or help in finding Simon. Steve liked Tom's idea. He was glad that they thought alike. Tom & Evie went in to talk with Chuckie while Steve & Danny went to see Billy.

Both men were tight lipped at the beginning. However after hearing that their friend was ratting on them, the men decided to be helpful. The two men spoke of how they were hired to kidnap this girl then dump her body back in the room. They both denied killing her. When asked who hired them, the men couldn't come up with a name. However they said he was some kind of doctor, or scientist. They also said he met them at a bar called TJ's on Kapiolani Boulevard. The man who hired Billy & Chuckie was described as being in his late 50's or early 60's. He was balding, but had gray on what hair he had left. The man wore black rimmed glasses. Stood about 5'7" tall and weighted 140 lbs. They said he was also white. Once the interrogations were completed. Tom, Evie, Steve & Danny met up and compered notes. The stories sounded alike, although some details were slightly different. Billy said the man was more bald while Chuckie said the man's hair was grayer. One more important detail was given by Billy. He said this man liked good looking women who were easy to pick up.

It was decided that the Five-0 team would check out TJ's on the following night. Both Evie & Catherine were asked to go undercover. They would go into TJ's and hang around. Play pool, shot darts and watch for a man who looked like the description. The plan was for the girls to look and act easy enough for this man to try and pick them up. The guys would all be hanging around the bar keeping Evie & Cat in sight. Until it was time to bust their suspect. It was late by now. Everyone headed off for the night. They would meet back up the next day. Simon knew that Billy & Chuckie would get caught. He planned it that way. Having them in custody was just the first step in his game.

Evie and Tom had gotten the 10.00am flight from LAX; 5 hours and 50 minutes after take off they had landed at Honolulu but the time was only 13.50. By the time they had gotten through security, taken the one hour transfer to the hotel only to find a body in their bathroom. Once 5-0 and HPD had been and gone, they'd walked, had dinner and walked a little more only to then find themselves dragged into the investigation of an old enemy. It was now the early hours of the morning. They had been up for nearly 24 hours when they walked out of the interrogation room and back up to 5-0's HQ.

The four of them talked through what both suspects had said and then with input from Catherine and Chin they agreed on a plan for the following night. It meant that Evie would need to go shopping when the stores opened as she hadn't bought the kind of clothes she was going to need for TJs. First of all though they all needed a little sleep. Tom and Evie headed back to the Royal Hawaiian. Evie was going to call James until Tom pointed out that it was the middle of the night and she probably wouldn't get the best of responses, particularly with the day that him and Kim would have had.

They managed to get a few hours before showering and having breakfast. Evie headed downtown to find the appropriate kind of dress for the bar and then met Tom back at the hotel before then headed back to 5-0. Evie had gotten herself a short red dress that fitted very well and left just the right amount to the imagination. With it she had a pair of red high heels. When she walked with Tom, Steve, Danny, Chin and Catherine were all there, with Catherine dressed equally provocatively. There were some knowing smiles around the room before they got on to planning out how they were going to run the operation at the bar.
