A Runaway Hiding

He saw her black out and quickly went to work. His hand though large being a blacksmith were still deft. He found the break and with a few simple movements he quickly broke the slight amount of healing that had started healing it the wrong way. He set the bone to the right place and then quickly wrapped it tying it down tight so that the ankle could never move as long as the splint was in place. Turning from her he went and dished up the food into bowls and brought one over to her as the fumes should be wearing off before much longer.

Koli started coming out of the darkness to a hazy world of pain, even though she knew it could be a lot worse. Whatever he had given her to make her pass out was still in her her system a little longer, taking the edge off of the pain. She looked at him holding a bowl of warm food, and smiled up at him. She sat up slowly, trying not to jar her ankle too badly. "You know...you saved me earlier, let me rest in this bed, gave me food, and even splinted my ankle, and I still don't even know your name. You're nothing like any centaurs in the stories. You're kind and," she blushed slightly, "rather gentle."

Korinos smiled shaking his head, â??You should never listen to minstrels fancies an centaur would never hurt a soul unless they tried to hurt him first.â? He added some more herbs to a cup of water, â??Drink this it will help dull the pain.â? He knew that what he had said about centaurs wasnâ??t always true there was the mating fever, that grabbed the young centaurs and sent them out to get mates among the human females. However, he smirked, after a short time none of the girls complained unless there was a offer to take them back home. He blinked realizing that he hadnâ??t answered her, â??My name is Korinos.â?

She smiled and laughed softly, taking the cup of water from him. "Never trust minstrels period. They almost always tell biased stories to amuse the people and confuse the memories of the populations they serve." She quickly drank the bitter herbal water, grateful as it did start to dull the pain a little. "Thank you." She started nibbling at the food he had given her as well, smiling up at him the whole time. "Korinos...a rather exotic name. But I guess it suits you. I'm Koli."

He smiled, â??Exotic to humans may be common place among us Centaurs.â? Smirking he nodded, â??it is rather exotic even here.â? He went back to the fire making himself up a bowl of food before coming back over and settling down next to her eating slowly. â??So tell me Koli what had you out so far away from the nearest human settlement?â?

The girl sighed and shook her head slightly, looking down at her food. It took a moment for her to gather her thoughts before she spoke. "I-I ran away from home. I couldn't take living with my father any longer, since my mother died." Speaking about the loss of her mother caused her to sniff, and a lump in her throat to form. "She became ill not too long ago, and passed away soon after. My father was only looking out for himself, and wanted to marry me off to a very wealthy family, just because he wanted the money. The person I was supposed to marry was, shall we say, a lady's man of sorts. It wouldn't take long for him to tire of me."

Korinos nodded knowing that type of male they were unfortunately not restricted to the humans. He nodded to the door, â??Well with the snow and that ankle you wonâ??t be running anywhere anytime soon my dear, so I suggest you get some more rest.â? He reached behind her and plumped up her pillows smiling at her lightly brushing a strand of hair back from her face. â??Would you care from something to read or do while you lay here?â?

She smiled and leaned over the bed, careful not to move her injured ankle as she looked for the pack she had brought with her. "I happened to pack a couple of things with me, including a couple of books that I couldn't bear to leave behind." She pulled it up into her lap once her hand found it on the ground. She quickly opened it and pulled out a number of books, scattering them on the bed around her. Then she set the bag back down and picked up one book, reading it from a marked page.

He smiled nodding, â??Good then I shall leave you to your reading, if you get hungry between meals just let me know and I will make you something.â? He smiled and stood up to move over toward his workshop. He picked up a shield at the door testing it a little here or there shaking his head sighing, â??If you need anything I will be in here.â? He called out before he moved into his shop and the clang of the hammer started again.

She smiled as she listened to the sound of the hammer striking metal as he worked. The steady rhythm caused her to close her eyes and imagine just what he was doing in his shop. She set the book down, keeping her finger inside to mark the page, though she didn't pick it up again as she allowed her imagination to run away as he worked. She pictured that he was making a sword that would go along with the shield he had picked up moments before, and what the person who had them would do with them.

He laid the shield back down smiling as it had been strengthened to a point that nothing a human could do would harm it. he picked up the large hunk of metal and stroked it with his strong hands looking at it. he had found it one day out on one of his many walks. It lay in a large crater seeming to have fallen from the sky. He was known for his skill with metal but it was more that he knew how to listen to what the metal wanted for itself, but this one was being stubborn and not telling him. he walked back out to the common room with the hunk and laid down near the fire almost forgetting about Koli.

In her imagining, Koli had curled up and fallen back asleep, smiling even in her dreamless rest. It wasn't until he came back in that she stretched and opened her eyes. She watched him lie down, and sighed softly. She didn't want to startle him, since he seemed so lost in his thoughts once more. Besides, she was just enjoying staring at his magnificent form resting beside the fire. Her stomach seemed to have a whole different idea, and it chose that moment to growl. To the young girl, it seemed to echo through out Korinos's home, and she blushed, pulling the blankets over her head in embarrassment if he heard.

He looked back over his shoulder as he did hear the sound of her stomach. Smiling at her he stood slowly coming back over to her and brushing her hair lightly. â??afternoon you seem like you might be hungry am I right?â?

Koli smiled and blushed all the more, tempted to stay there with the blankets over her head, hiding forever...at least until he touched her hair. She smiled and pulled the blankets back down to look up at him again. The smile on his face and the touch of his hand made her relax, and she involuntarily reached up to brush her fingers along his jaw. She wished for his lips to brush against hers, and to have him hold her in his arms forever. It was a few moments before she realized that he had asked her something, and she nodded. "I am rather hungry," she replied sheepishly.

He nodded, â??I will get you something though it might take a bit with needing to heat it up.â? He set about doing what needed to be done to start food.

Weeks passed and he continued what he had been doing as he had for years just coming out of his workshop to make food for them. He saw to her ankle and it healed quickly. As she was getting better he helped her around the house and showed her how to get to the food storage should he ever not be there. Finally he came back in one day nodding, â??The blizzard snow is mostly gone and your ankle seems to be healed well enoughâ?¦do you think you could survive a few days alone? I need to go out and meet with some other elders of my clan and it could take awhile since I live so far from the village.â?

She smiled and waited for the food, enjoying it again once he had heated it through. She was beyond grateful to him, and becoming ever more attracted to him, and just being close to him made her feel safe.

As the weeks went by, she grew even more fond of him, resting her hand on his side as she finally started walking again, using him as a kind of crutch in case her ankle gave out from underneath him. She sighed and limped around, her ankle still sore as she figured out her way around his home and to the food storage. She had found several of his books once she had finished hers, and she enjoyed reading about the centaur myths and legends. They really weren't so different from the human legends, even though a few main players were obviously centaurs. There were even mentions of humans being friends with the centaurs, but she had yet to figure out how things went so wrong between their races.

She picked up cooking when he left for periods of time, knowing that she needed to be able to take care of herself in case he was gone for any length of time. When he came back one day and told her that he was going to be gone for several days, she nodded, knowing how to take care of herself. Of course there had been a few snowstorms, but none were as bad as the blizzard that had brought them together, and the extra snow that built up was soon gone. "All right. I think I can manage by myself for a while. Go ahead and go. I'll take care of the house and everything." She grinned and sat on the bed, knowing that he had his own things to do.

He nodded smiling as he went to the door with his pack on his back almost like saddle bags â??Take good care of that ankle why I am gone I donâ??t want to come back and find youâ?¦â? he paused pain crossing his face for a moment, â??â?¦Hurtâ? he sighed nodding and walked out and away toward the village sighing as the memories of his wife came back and almost made him collapse on the ground. Pressing on he headed for the village pushing such thoughts aside.

"I promise I'll take care of myself as long as you promise to do the same." She smiled and watched him leave from the doorway until she could no longer see him. A soft sigh left her lips, and she reluctantly went back into the longhouse to make dinner. She had seen the look on his face, and she knew that he had seen something terrible happen to a loved one. She sat down to prepare her meal, still unable to stand for too long on her mostly healed foot. She made a simple yet very tasty stew for herself. It was enough to last her a few days while her friend was gone. While her meal cooked, she stood and wandered around the house, seeing the door to his workshop. She looked inside, seeing everything he had been working on, a large variety of shields and weapons. She smiled, knowing just how gentle his hands really were. It seemed like an oxymoron, but it was certainly a welcome one. As she made her way back to the fire to check on her meal, she saw a post that was kind of in a corner. She wondered why she had never seen it before, since it seemed like such an odd thing to have in his house. It was also placed in front of a mirror. Its purpose escaped the young girl, so she just went back to her stew, stirring it a little before dishing herself some and sitting down to eat.

He traveled making good time reaching the village later that night. Going to his brotherâ??s house he was quickly welcomed in his young nephew trotting quickly over to be picked up and tossed around. He hadnâ??t had such a good time with his family since his wife had died and though he didnâ??t notice his brother and sister in law did. After the young child was put to bed they forced him to sit down and began to question him about it. it took awhile but finally he mentioned Koli and his sister-in-law just about pounced on him in happiness as he looked on in shock. He honestly didnâ??t understand what the two of them were going on about. That night though he had a idea as he lay in his bed thinking about her and growling uncomfortably hard.

After she finished her dinner, Koli lay down to go to sleep. Instead of sleeping, though, her thoughts kept drifting to Korinos. She wondered how he was doing, and if he was thinking about her. She yelped and blushed at that selfish thought. Despite the fact that she knew he was nowhere nearby, she couldn't help look around the room guiltily. She stood and put some more wood on the fire to keep it going through the night, kneeling down in front of it with a blanket around her shoulders. The more she tried to focus on something mundane to get her to fall asleep, the more her thoughts kept coming back to the handsome centaur. Each time she thought about him, she would feel a molten heat in her lower stomach. It was an unfamiliar feeling, but not wholly unwelcome. After a little while, she curled up where she sat in front of the fire and drifted off to sleep.

The next day went as it had been planned nothing but a lot of meetings and gatherings. He sighed wishing that they could just get on with the work that he had been called so that he could just go home. It surprised him what it was that wanted to bring him home, not just his normal desire to be alone, rather it was because he wanted to be with Koli and it was that simple.

Koli woke the next morning and washed her face in a bowl of water that had formerly been snow. Then she found some of the clothes he had left behind for her and started to decide which outfit to wear. She chose a mid thigh length dress that was nice and comfortable to wear around the house. She couldn't wait for Korinos to come home, though it seemed to stem from loneliness and something else. She read the books for a while, but when they could no longer hold her attentions, she went to the post to try to figure out what it was.

Korinos just sat through the ceremony of what needed to be done but he wished that it wasnâ??t so long or complicated. Sighing he waited for the sun to set and the meetings and ceremony to end. Finally he was back at his brotherâ??s for the night and having to hide how happy it made him that his brother was asking all these questions about Koli and Korinos was â??forcedâ?? to answer them. He told them that he planned to bring her to the village and find her a mate since she was not already. They blinked at him in stunned silence, â??We thought that youâ?¦you know the way you talk about herâ?¦â? his brother was more lost then his wife who just shook her head, â??You love her and donâ??t even realize it.â?

Koli sat on the bed, having found some paper after some looking around the house. She wrote a friendly note to her best friend, since her birthday was coming up soon. Of course, she couldn't help herself and started writing all about Korinos. Of course, she never mentioned that he was a centaur, but she didn't skimp on the details about just how handsome he was. After she finished it, she folded it and sealed it. Then, she decided to go investigate the post again. She found a platform that folded out with grooves that she could rest her forearms against and grip onto. A slight draft moved through the room and it was then that she realized her ass and pussy were bare to the rest of the room. She blushed slightly and absently started to rub at her slit. She moaned softly and closed her eyes, imagining that it was Korinos playing with her.

After arguing with his sister in law for hours that he wasnâ??t in love with Koli he decided to make a point of it and make sure to bring her up in the business tomorrow. It was done often when it was a woman they had found stranded in the woods. He set his mind to be sure that he did it the first chance he got. Finally turning in for bed his mind once again plagued with thoughts oh Koli this time on the mating poll touching herself begging him to touch her.
