When using actors/actresses to represent your characters, do you ever base the character off of roles that actor has played?

Do you use anime or art? Why or why not?

Do you mind which type of pictures your partners use to represent their characters?
Does it affect how you visualize things if you use one type of picture but they use the other(like, if you have a celeb and they have an anime character)?

If no,
Why don't you use pictures for you characters? Feel free to explain.

I use images.

I use photos representing real people. Why?: When a partner prefers to use images but prefers images of real people.
How do you choose: I look for guys that look attractive by my particular standards.
Do I use actors/celebrities: I try to shy away from 'well known' faces.
For the last question if I do use someone 'famous' It's not usually due to their roles.

I use both anime art and 'regular'/drawn art. Why: I enjoy having visual representations of characters.
I use other people's art. I can't draw. At all. If i could, I would use my art though.
Doesn't matter to me if someone uses their own art or someone else's.
I have used canons for non canon characters.

I've used imagery for both characters and locations, clothing, or other details of a scene. I don't always do the imagery for non characters though.
I haven't used reaction images/gifs in an RP. Not sure why, just haven't.

I prefer drawn/anime art over real art.
I don't mix and match styles. If someone is using a real reference, I do the same or just describe my character if I can't find an image. Same for if they use drawn art of any sort.

Do you use photos representing real people? Why or why not?

Yes. I feel in RP, be it erotic or otherwise, it adds to the fantasy of what you’re writing. Even when I’m just reading a book, I imagine the characters as real people.

How do you choose who represents your characters the best?

Here on BMR, I don’t choose, I let my playing partner choose whom they’d like to look at when we play. On and in another RP with a friend of mine, if I’m playing a male character, I use someone that I like to look at, that I find good looking and that fits into what I imagine that character to look like. If it’s a female I’m playing, again, I try to get a sense of what she’d look like and go with that. For instance, if I imagine the character to be of shorter stature and has dark hair, I might choose Mila Kunis. If I feel my make character has kind of a brooding, tattoo’d rockstar look, I’d choose Zacky Vengeance.

Do you ever use actors/celebrities?

Yes. I have fantasies! Lmao

When using actors/actresses to represent your characters, do you ever base the character off of roles that actor has played?

No. Not really. As a matter of fact, most of my characters aren’t much like the actors/actresses at all.

Do you use anime or art? Why or why not?

No. I am not an anime fan firstly. Secondly, while I do love and appreciate art as a whole.....(yes even anime at times if the images are done right), Anime, Art, Cartoonish images....do absolutely nothing for me.

When using pics, how often do you use them during the rp?

Depends on my partner, honestly. Some of them only use images either once or very sparingly. Most of my partners actually are like this. I reciprocate as a general rule. On occasion though, I’ll throw one in, even if they don’t use pictures themselves.

Do you just use it for the character profile and then that's it?

Again, depends on my partner. I have had ones that do in fact use a picture only ones, during their characters introduction to the story. Again, I reciprocate.

Or do you also include reaction pics and gifs to accent your posts at crucial moments during the rp?
Why or why not?

I have one partner, my King, my number 1.........we are always going back and forth including reaction pictures and gifs, not always at crucial moments, sometimes just to show a facial expression in a single moment. I have another partner that I don’t think he’s ever posted a pic for me but I do throw reactions pics his way from time to time.

Do you mind which type of pictures your partners use to represent their characters?

Yes. I am admittedly picky, here on BMR anyways. It’s part of the fantasy of the erotic portions of the story I suppose. But all of my partners have been very accommodating and agree to satiate my Chris Pratt obsession. Lol

Does it affect how you visualize things if you use one type of picture but they use the other(like, if you have a celeb and they have an anime character)?

Never come across this because honestly, I put it right out there in my RT that the cartoonish images do nothing for me. So I kind of don’t allow this to happen. Because I know it would indeed affect my visualization of the story as a whole. I would at that point rather not use pictures at all. I have a good imagination and I can readily bring Pratt’s face to mind....so. Lol

Yes I do use Pictures.

Sadly I honestly can't get into using RL face claims. It just feels weird to me, and since my RPs tend to be more inspired by stuff like anime, video games and comics it's kinda hard to fit in say David Tennant in a shonen battle anime themed deal. Also when it comes to sex... well some of the kinks and stuff I like would be absolutely ridiculous and outright horrifying when you imagine it on a real person. Plus i've seen people use pictures that were clearly taken from some rando person's facebook and like "Yooo what is you doing man?"
The only time I would ever use an RL picture would be for something like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai (mostly for the armor and suits of course)

Yes I do use anime/art for my stuff. As I mentioned before, the general art style fits better with my plots and stories.
I do use other people's art, doesn't really matter to me if someone else does or not.
Using a Canon for a non-canon. KIIIINDA... While I wouldn't use Naruto for an OC, if I need a pic for say a villain I would go for some more obscure characters like Garuda in Fighting EX Layer.

I've used images for scenery, weaponry, clothing, etc

I use drawn pictures.
I’m interested in non-humans, so real life pics don’t apply.
I do not think I’ve used a canon pic for an OC, but not against the premise.
Mainly I use them more to give inspiration, to serve as an example of the species or body type or an outfit, rather than a faceclaims. And only during planning phase
Other people’s art because I have no talent.

Real people - not someone from FB but who allowed his pic to circulate. I may base on a role, if the clothes or look fit.

Realistic art is fine. I have no drawing talent. I am fine with an OC getting a character pic unless this character will play too LOL

Mostly just for the profile pic. If I find a great pic for a scene I may post it, or even send it OOC, but I can't commit to this.

My Partner can use anything realistic. NOT anime unless we're writing anime RP. I would rather nothing to an anime.

A non realistic or anime pic could inspire a plot but not represent a character.

I do use pictures quite a bit if it's difficult to describe what the character might look like, or if I can easily find a picture that's accurate enough. For example, I have an image dump of wolf anthros for my lycan RPs, since there's a lot of interpretations to what werewolves might look like.

The only limit I might have is real photos of famous people... Just a bit too weird for me. Stock photos, maybe.

Also, anime is a bit of a hit or miss for me. Can't really say what kinds of anime style would work.

If yes:

Do you use photos representing real people? Why or why not? If by real you mean flesh and blood, then yes, but I prefer to use people who are public figures in some way as my faceclaims like celebrities, actors, or models.
How do you choose who represents your characters the best? I tend to have an image in my head and search until I find something that “fits”, though occasionally it's the other way around. I'll see a picture and my brain will go: that.
Do you ever use actors/celebrities? I use them for a “visual” reference only (demeanor/face/voice). I won't play the actual celebrity (i.e. celebrity x fan roleplays are a hard no for me).
When using actors/actresses to represent your characters, do you ever base the character off of roles that actor has played? It depends: a lot of times I’ll get inspiration for a character or find an image that fits a character based off of a role the actor has played, and thus I tend to lean more towards using those images as references over others. It just depends on what fits the character best.

Do you use anime or art? Why or why not? Sometimes, but it depends on the art. I shy away from using “lazy anime” as references.
When using drawn representations, do you use other people's art? If I find a suitable image, yes (though I hate myself for it)...
Or do you draw your own? I have in the past, but I’ve been really lazy about digging out my tablet here lately...
Does either matter to you? I'd prefer to use things I've drawn myself, but again -- I'm lazy af about it.
Have you ever used a canon anime picture for a non-canon character? (ex: like using Naruto's pic and screenshots but your character is an OC) I’ve probably used fanart of a canon character as a reference or as inspiration unknowingly, but I don't like a lot of the newer animes coming out (or more specifically their art style), so that often saves me from from using references from the source material.

When using pics, how often do you use them during the rp? Normally I only use them when introducing a character.
Do you just use it for the character profile and then that's it? …See above?
Or do you also include reaction pics and gifs to accent your posts at crucial moments during the rp? I haven’t, but if I ever found one suitable I might – especially if it’s a long-term story (short-term stories I tend to be a little lazier about character references).
Why or why not? I’m more concerned with writing a post that my partner enjoys rather than agonising over finding the perfect image for that post. I'm not against doing it if I have something in mind, but I'm not going to lose time/stress about trying to find something.

Do you mind which type of pictures your partners use to represent their characters? I prefer flesh and blood faceclaims, but as long as it’s not an art style I abhor I wouldn’t mind drawn references.
Does it affect how you visualize things if you use one type of picture but they use the other(like, if you have a celeb and they have an anime character)? Again, it depends on what art style is used for drawn references. If the reference is artistic/semi-realistic in some way or has a lot of personality it I don't mind at all, but if the reference is something that looks like it was taken from Pokemon or Naturo (sorry-not-sorry) the different mediums it'll make it difficult to visualise what that character is supposed to look like against the character with the flesh and blood faceclaim.

Do you use pictures to represent your characters in role-plays?
Yes most verily

Do you use photos representing real people? Why or why not?
How do you choose who represents your characters the best?
Do you ever use actors/celebrities?
When using actors/actresses to represent your characters, do you ever base the character off of roles that actor has played?

I will try and answer this all within the one statement. We on the internet are not bound by the page or the word; we are free to use all media in our RPs, from video to music to gifs, and so on. It adds an extra sensory dimension to the RP and makes it more immersive. Consequently I enjoy using pics of celebs (or quasi-celebs) because it adds depth to their character. A picture is worth a thousand words. They provide a face and frame that helps explore the persona further, beyond even the most eloquent written description. The choice of who to use is often based on how I think the character would be best portrayed - using the right faceclaim can really make it "work" sometimes. Certainly I'll bear an actor's roles in mind in certain cases, like a historical-themed RP, where characters they have played will work well visually.

Do you use anime or art? Why or why not?
Well anime does nothing for me, but I'm not opposed to some nice art being used if my partner really liked it.

When using pics, how often do you use them during the rp?
Do you just use it for the character profile and then that's it?
Or do you also include reaction pics and gifs to accent your posts at crucial moments during the rp?
Why or why not?

Yes to all of this, for reasons I explained above. Some of my best partners have done the same too, and it's really made for memorable RPs.

Do you mind which type of pictures your partners use to represent their characters?
As some current and ex-partners would probably know, I can be a stickler on this. I consider myself agreeable enough when it comes to developing an RP, and usually I'm more than happy to meet any compromise my partner might ask of me. But choosing the right face is extremely important!

I try to avoid face claims cause they never match the image i have in my head. I just end up getting frustrated with looking for the right pic, or close enough pic, and spend way too much time on it. I do use pictures as an inspiration source for stories. Like i'd gather pictures for settings, fashion, etc...several faces that give me the right vibe i'm trying to go for or can represent the lifetyle the characters are living.

I don't really care if my partner uses a picture for their character though, whatever helps with the writing. I also don't care what type of art it is as long as its not pornographic, cause i end up getting partners sending me nude pics saying "this is what they look like"....and i end up getting frustrated cause i had no need seeing a horse dick -,-

And i absolutely hate it when my partners choose a pic for -me-. Asking me to rp as this person or they ask is it okay if i use this pic for myself to visualize your character. I'd rather they didn't cause the pics usually look nothing like the character, and it's going to ruin my idea of my character cause i have my own visuals about them >.<

Do you use pictures to represent your characters in role-plays? Yes, almost always.

Do you use photos representing real people? Why or why not? This is certainly preferred, but I do occasionally use illustrations, especially if it's a story set in a fantasy or sci-fi setting. That said, even if it is a fantastical setting, I will often try to look for an image from a TV show or movie. It makes it seem more real to me, like they truly exist in their world.
How do you choose who represents your characters the best? I usually find a solid base image and then manipulate it in Photoshop, as needed. I've also created characters because of images.
Do you ever use actors/celebrities? Yes.
When using actors/actresses to represent your characters, do you ever base the character off of roles that actor has played? Sometimes.

Do you use anime or art? Why or why not? No to anime and yes to art. I find anime doesn't typically speak to the types of characters I tend to play.
When using drawn representations, do you use other people's art? Usually other's.
Or do you draw your own? Sometimes.
Does either matter to you? Not really, as long as the quality of the art if top notch.
Have you ever used a canon anime picture for a non-canon character? Nope.

When using pics, how often do you use them during the rp? Often.
Do you just use it for the character profile and then that's it? Nope, I'll include them for locations, what the characters are wearing, items they own, etc. etc. etc.
Or do you also include reaction pics and gifs to accent your posts at crucial moments during the rp? Sometimes.
Why or why not? A picture can be worth a 1000 words.

Do you mind which type of pictures your partners use to represent their characters? I'm generally open to whatever they wish to use. Who am I to judge what speaks to them?
Does it affect how you visualize things if you use one type of picture but they use the other(like, if you have a celeb and they have an anime character)? Not really, because it's still just a reference to work from. Although, since I do prefer realistic images, I tend to visualize a real person, based on the reference, as well as, more importantly, what is written in the story.

Do you use pictures to represent your characters in role-plays?

If yes

How do you choose who represents your characters the best?

When using actors/actresses to represent your characters, do you ever base the character off of roles that actor has played?
Sometimes. I prefer real people. I go for someone who best encapsulates the look and feel of the character and RP I am going for.
Yes, I sometimes use celebs.
No, usually the actors work has nothing to do with the character they will be used for.
Overall it tends to be a case of finding the right look for the RP and character.

Do you use anime or art? Why or why not?

Does either matter to you?

No, Anime etc does nothing for me.
Realist art is ok but I have not used it.
I can't draw but would if I could.
Yes. Realist art or pics but not Anime etc.
Never used Anime etc.

When using pics, how often do you use them during the rp?
Do you just use it for the character profile and then that's it?
Or do you also include reaction pics and gifs to accent your posts at crucial moments during the rp?
Why or why not?
Just once at the start. Sometimes just via PM to my partner.
Yep.
Nope.
I don't need pics at all really.

Do you mind which type of pictures your partners use to represent their characters?
Does it affect how you visualize things if you use one type of picture but they use the other(like, if you have a celeb and they have an anime character)?
Yes, no anime, cartoons etc. Realist art preferred.
Yes, I can't take cartoons, anime seriously, it kills it for me.
Yes, if the face claim is of an 18 year old model and the character is meant to be her 40's then that will make me walk away. I have seen action type RP's where the faceclaim is of some skinny girl who couldn't possibly lift the weaponry that she will be expected to. If face claims will be used try and make them plausible.

Do you use pictures to represent your characters in role-plays?
Yes

If yes
Do you use photos representing real people? Why or why not?
Yes. I imagine my roleplays as realistic-looking with real-looking people, settings, and props.

How do you choose who represents your characters the best?
I might have had someone in mind, then imagined them when a story idea seemed appropriate for the mood I gave them in my head. I also have a large image library and brose it when creating a new character. It's usually a combination of their look and the mood they present in the image.

Do you ever use actors/celebrities?
Yes, as well as professional models and "instamodels".

When using actors/actresses to represent your characters, do you ever base the character off of roles that actor has played?
Very, very rarely. More often than not, if a role they played stuck in my head, I can't use them for something else.

Do you use anime or art? Why or why not?
I can use realistic art as a second choice.
I can't use anime. My brain can't smash hard black lines and flat colors against flesh and blood.

When using drawn representations, do you use other people's art?
Never. It's immoral to use artist's work without paying them for it, or at least asking explicit permission (which most will not grant you). And just because it's been re-shared a dozen times doesn't mean it's not stolen property.

Or do you draw your own?
I make my own 3D art of my characters, often.

Does either matter to you?
Yes. I own my art, and no one is being cheated out of their income.

Have you ever used a canon anime picture for a non-canon character? (ex: like using Naruto's pic and screenshots but your character is an OC)
blech

When using pics, how often do you use them during the rp?
I post at the beginning.
If I have multiple shots of a real person, I might share one with more skin when the time is right.
On the rare occasion that a partner sticks around for more than a couple weeks, I often will make more art of my 3D character and share. It's usually related to what is going on in the RP, like changes of clothes or something sexy.

Do you just use it for the character profile and then that's it?
Or do you also include reaction pics and gifs to accent your posts at crucial moments during the rp?
Why or why not?
I've made 3D animations, but I think that animated gifs would break immersion in a RP scene.

Do you mind which type of pictures your partners use to represent their characters?
Yes, I state in my RT that if they need to use anime, we can just write descriptions of our characters.

Does it affect how you visualize things if you use one type of picture but they use the other(like, if you have a celeb and they have an anime character)?
Yes. Sexual intercourse between noids and doodles is forbidden, as this can be dangerous for both dimensions.

*shudder* 🤮

Hm. Fun question.

Do you use pictures to represent your characters in role-plays? Sometimes, yes. Mostly as an aide to visualization or when the image inspired the character.

Do you use photos representing real people? Why or why not?

Yes, if I find a real people picture that suits my character. Typically it’ll be a model or celebrity, because I tend to imagine it as that actor playing the role in the movie adaptation. I’d be deeply uncomfortable just using random people from Facebook, though. Go figure.

When I use an actor I know as my face claim, their on-screen persona will influence my character to a small degree. Unless I’m playing as the character they played, of course.

Do you use anime or art? Why or why not?

I don’t tend to use much anime art for face claims, unless I’m playing a specific character. I do use a lot of paintings and drawings, though. Other people’s paintings and drawings, specifically. My stick figures rarely capture the look I’m going for. I try to avoid using well-known characters for OCs, though.

When using pics, how often do you use them during the rp?

Typically I only use them for when the character is first introduced. On occasion I’ll also use pictures of places or things (vehicles, clothes, etc) as a supplement to descriptions.

Or do you also include reaction pics and gifs to accent your posts at crucial moments during the rp?
Why or why not?

I don’t. It never really occurred to me.

Do you mind which type of pictures your partners use to represent their characters?
Does it affect how you visualize things if you use one type of picture but they use the other(like, if you have a celeb and they have an anime character)?

I do not, but I’ll usually try to match what they use. Like, if my partner uses a celebrity I’ll generally use one as well.

Do you use photos representing real people? Why or why not?

Yes. I use them, because it's easier to use a photo than it is to expect my partner to find art of an acceptable quality or style that I enjoy. It's also annoying to find art that matches what my partner picks, or to ever expect my partner to match the art style of something I have picked. An anime picture paired against an American comic book style image does not make a cohesive image in my head. I also do not pair photos and illustrations together, as I'm not interested in playing in the Who Framed Roger Rabbit Cinematic Universe. lol

How do you choose who represents your characters the best?

Whoever I find attractive or cool looking, and fits the general vibe of the character. I never go in with specific physical traits in mind.

Do you ever use actors/celebrities?

Only if ignorantly chosen, or that's the point of the role-play. I avoid it mostly.

When using actors/actresses to represent your characters, do you ever base the character off of roles that actor has played?

Only if that's the point of the role-play.

Do you use anime or art? Why or why not?

Very rarely, and for reasons stated above. I use them only when my partner won't budge or it is more suitable for the topic of the role-play.

When using drawn representations, do you use other people's art?

Other people's art. I can't draw to save my life.

Have you ever used a canon anime picture for a non-canon character? (ex: like using Naruto's pic and screenshots but your character is an OC)

I have in the past, mostly out of ignorance. I avoid it just like I avoid using images of celebrities.

When using pics, how often do you use them during the rp?

I very rarely insert them into my posts. I mostly just use them for inspiration when writing. I'm very poor at holding a mental image. Inserting images and hunting down different images to insert is too much trouble. I'd rather just write the post and be done with it.

Do you mind which type of pictures your partners use to represent their characters?

Yes. I am very turned off by partners using images of exceptionally low quality (crappy jpegs with artifacts), and I'm also not into mixed media.
