Here's the story to set the scene...

Welcome to Mahou Academy an integrated college that is made up mainly of animal people (Humans with ears, tails, etc...) but every once in a while a human is allowed to enter if they've shown care and respect to animals throughout their lives. Nikolai is the first human student to enter the school in over 150 years. When Nikolai first enters the school gates the headmaster gives him a small red collar with a beautiful silver bell on it and tells him to give it to someone special. Nikolai is unaware of what the collar means but after touring campus for a while he becomes friends with a animal girl and gives her the collar. All the animal students in the school know the collar is the ultimate sign of affection and that if it is accepted by one of the animal students that student becomes the lover/servant of the human that gave it to them. Now that Nikolai has given it away to the animal girl they must live together and also try and avoid the jealousy of other students who either hate the girl or want to take her place.

Nikolai slowly got off the empty bus and squinted as the bright light of the afternoon sun came glaring down on him, "Wow this is a really unique place if they sent a whole bus to pick up just one person..." he thought to himself as he began walking towards the school gates when he spotted an old man with a set of lion ears and a tail waiting for him. "Good afternoon Mr. Nikolai welcome to Mahou Academy my name is Mr. Leon and I am the headmaster here at Mahou. I suppose you have a lot of questions but they will all be answered in due time." he said cryptically as he handed Nikolai an elegant red collar with a silver bell attached to it. Nikolai looked at the collar in awe as he looked at the old man, "This is a really nice collar why did you give it to me?" he asked as he continued inspecting it noticing a small set of words engraved on the bell, "To my dearest... Mr. Leon what is this?" he asked more confused than before. The old lion laughed as he patted Nikolai on the shoulder, "It is for someone special be careful to not let anyone see it until you plan to give it to that special person." he said with a grin as he began walking away leaving Nikolai to go forward and explore campus alone as he slipped the collar into his pocket.

(I usually don't post this much writing I just had to set the story up...)

Miranda yawned softly as she stepped into the hallway of the Mahou Academy. Being late afternoon, classes had pretty much ended for the day. All students had left already to head home or to their dorm rooms which were a short walk away from the campus. She was a student currently attending, and like all the other students, had a large pair of ears and a tail of an animal. She greatly resembled a wolf, and she was one of few wolf students in the entire academy. All throughout the day, she had been hearing rumors of a human students coming to the Academy, though she had her doubts. She was well aware of the history of the academy, knowing about how there hadn't been a human student at this academy for 150 years. Many students were taking it as a cruel joke, though she had to admit that she would have liked to have a human student around. Though she would have assumed that they would be quite crowded around. She shook her head slightly as if shaking off the idea and went to grab her things from a locker and headed out the front, looking to go back to her room.

Nikolai was in a slight bit of culture shock looking around at the different animal students, "Wow they're so interesting! The girls are really cute too!" he thought to himself as he continued walking hoping he would not attract too much attention although he could hear girls squealing with delight and guys staring at him as he began approaching the court yard. He laughed to himself as he looked at the campus map trying to spot where his dorm was when another group of girls stopped and stared at him before erupting, "It's true there is one here! We have to tell the others!" the screamed happily as they took off looking back at Nikolai. "Wow I feel weird... oh well life will be interesting no doubt." he smiled as he looked at the impressive building and the campus he would live on for the next four years.

Miranda turned her head slightly as she heard someone screaming, but not in the sense of fear or pain, almost joyous. She wasn't exactly sure if she should think about it, seeing as it didn't directly involve her, but the next few things she heard got her attention. "It's true! There is one here! "W-what?" She stopped in her tracks, trying to see exactly who it was. She could see a group of female students commuting with each other, talking a bit before erupted in excited cries. "Are you serious? It couldn't be..." She slowly made her way over, clearly looking confused. One of the girls in the group, a catgirl, had approached her. "Ah! Mira!" she said. Anyone who was close enough to know her well called her Mira. "Have you heard? The rumors are true!" "What rumors?" The catgirl seemed rather annoyed with her answer. "Have you been living under a rock? There's a human student!" Miranda paused, clearly shocked. "W-what?! Are you serious?" Never before had she thought that a human student would come here while she was at school. "Plus, he's really cute! Ah! I hope he gives me that collar!" Miranda gave her a strange look. Her friend was a hopeless romantic that had gone on and on about humans.

Nikolai kept walking with his bag slung over his back and his hand in his pocket holding on to the collar, "Man this is a really fancy place." he thought as he continued walking towards the center of the courtyard where he spotted a bench in front of a large fountain with the design of several types of animal footprints leading up to the fountain. "Man they really went all out with this place didn't they?" he said quietly as he sat down and began digging through his bag looking for his head phones and his old CD player. "I wonder what's in store for me next maybe it'll be fun." he smiled as he put his headphones on and began listening to some high energy techno music and sat back taking a deep breath looking out at the lively nature of all the students at the school.

"Uh...well, where is he?" Miranda asked, a little curious now. Her friend chuckled softly as she wrapped an arm around her shoulder, leading her to the side of the building where they could get a good view of the fountain where he was sitting. "Wow. I never thought we've have a human student..." she said, pausing for a while. "Uh, but everyone just seems to be staring at him from afar, like they're avoiding him." Her friend gave her a playful slap on the back. "Well, why wouldn't you just wanna stare at him? He adorable!" "Eh...that's a little strange. I mean, I bet he feels awkward." Her friend shrugged slightly, placing her hand on Miranda's shoulder. "Yeah well, whatever you say. Listen, we're going to be heading off. Remember, you gotta get to my dorm afterward so we can study. In the meantime, I'll be working out a plan to snatch him." And soon the group had left, leaving Miranda standing there. She took another look at him, seeing that he was listening to his CD Player. "Well, it wouldn't hurt to at least say hi." She took a deep breath and started to walk in his direction, walking past groups gawking at him. As she passed, she could hear some mumbling about her. "Hey! Where's she going? She continued to walk, a little smile on her face as she stopped in front of him, tapping him lightly on the shoulder.

Nikolai opened his eyes to a gorgeous wolf girl standing before him as he quickly slid his headphones off his ears and smiled, "Hi there." he quickly stood up and offered her his hand like a proper gentleman would. "I'm the new guy but I guess you could tell that already." he laughed pointing at his human ears and his obvious lack of a tail. He was glad someone finally decided to talk to him versus staring at him like he was on display, "This is a really nice school I have a feeling I'm going to love it here." he commented as he gave her another warm smile.

As soon as their eyes had met, a slight chill went through her body. He certainly looked more handsome up close. She almost wanted to slap herself for thinking so much like her friend. she took his hand in hers, giving him a firm shake. "Yeah, I suppose you are. You've only just arrived and you're already the most popular person in school. You will certainly like it here. the teachers are nice, though they'll occasionally drop some surprise assignments on you." she said with a little groan. "My name is Miranda. It's nice to meet you."

"Oh I'm sorry my name is Nikolai." he said as he gave her a confident handshake, "Most popular? Me?" he laughed, "That's a first throughout my life I was considered the uncool guy since I try to act like a gentleman and stuff. Well I guess with a change of scene comes a change in circumstances." he said as he looked around spotting some of the envious glares of some of the female students, "Anyway Miranda could you maybe show me around this place I only got here maybe half and hour ago so I'm not sure where to go." he asked as he showed her the map of the different dorms and classes he had to go to throughout the day.

"Nikolai huh? Well, I hope we can get along fine then." she said, giving him a pleasant smile. "Well, there's a first time for everything then isn't there?" Miranda could also spot some glares from students. It wasn't necessarily her intention to try and steal him from them, but she just wanted to make him feel welcome. "Ah, of course. We could get through this map in no time." She took a look at the map he had received, getting his classes as well. "Ah, we have a couple classes together." she said, pointing out the Math and Literature classes. "Those would be fine since you could just walk with me. I know these other classes, though I should show you how to get to those. As you can see, all the types of classes are separated to different parts of the school. So the Math classes are this are of the first floor, and Literature is here on the second floor." she said, pointing to the respective places. "But let's get you up and finding these rooms then." she said, motioning for him to follow her as she started to head back to the building, turning back to see that he was following.

"Alright thanks a lot I don't want to be the bumbling idiot who can't get to any of his classes on time." he said as he briskly followed behind her. "So do you have a lot of friends here?" he asked as he tried to ignore the stares of students who were seeing him for the first time. "Am I really that weird looking?" he asked for her honest opinion as another few girls looked at him and began chattering amongst themselves.

"It's not a problem at all. I have plenty of time to help you out. As for friends, I have a little group I usually hang around with. They're a really rowdy group though. I usually find myself wondering how I gotten into such a crazy group, but they're really fun and interesting people." "Interesting huh? she thought, thinking of her friend once again. "Hmm? I wouldn't say weird looking. It's just extremely rare for a human student to be at this Academy. It's like all the students here are a part of history now." she said, leading him into the large Academy building. "Alright. Let's see." She took another glance at the map before starting to lead him around to all his different classes, starting with the closest ones, then reminding him which order he had to attend them. "Don't worry. I have similar classes at the same time, so you'll probably see me around. I can point you in the direction you have to go until you're accustomed to it."

Nikolai nodded, "Sure I think that'll help out a lot thanks for all this." he said once again as he began making mental notes of where all his classes were. He thought about what she had told him, "History? You really think me being here is historic? Wow that's pretty weird. I want to just make a few good friends and make a lot of memories while I'm here." he said honestly as he continued walking, "Maybe you could introduce me to your friends too. I mean if they're all as nice as you are I think I would want to hang out with then too." he said as he proposed the idea to her.

Miranda couldn't help but chuckle a bit at his words. She knew that if she did introduce him to her group, they'd be in a frenzy over him, and they probably would be asking non-stop questions to both him and Miranda. "Alright. They usually are always together, so perhaps I can introduce you to them tomorrow. Of course, I think they know you pretty well already." she said with a little smile. "It certainly is historic. There hasn't been a human here for hundreds of years. You're the first since then."

Nikolai raised an eyebrow, "That long? Wow I guess it is pretty special after all." he said with surprise as he stopped for a second, "So how many more classes do we have left?" he asked as he began trying to count out the ones he had visited, "I'm really enjoying by time with you but I just wanted to make sure I'm not holding you up from anything important like studying or eating dinner." he said with genuine concern.

"Yeah, I suppose it may be strange to finally stop it from getting any longer." She stopped walking as he did, turning to face him. "Well, we have about three more to go. I'm perfectly fine right now. I'm actually supposed to study a bit with a friend right now, but it's not very much, plus she's already getting a head start back at the dorms. "I'm just here to make sure you're all set for tomorrow."

"Alright if you're sure." he said as he picked up the pace slightly, "Well why not go a bit faster so we don't keep you're friend waiting too long." he suggested as he began hopping up the stairs slightly racing her as he continued to feel more and more comfortable around his new friend. "Hey I got an idea once we finish up let's have a quick race from the first floor all the way to the school gate what do you think?" he asked as a playful grin crossed his face.

"Yup, it's perfectly fine." she said turning again to direct him to his next few classes. She had to pick up her pace a bit to match him, glad he was feeling concerned for her as well. "A race?" She paused for a while, wondering if she should take him up on the offer. "Well, I guess that's fine with me. I suppose a little race would be great." she said, figuring she should show him to the rest of his classes. After she had taken him to his last class, she turned to look at him again. They were currently on the second floor, so they'd have to descend to the first if they wanted to race still. "Still up for that race. I gotta warn you, I'm pretty fast."

"Sure why not? Tell you what let's make it a bit more interesting we'll have a little wager as well. If I win we'll do something I want to do to finish off the day if you win then we'll do something you want to do. You can choose anything you want so what do you think?" he asked as he tightened his laces on his shoes and slid into a starting position. During high school he was an incredible 100 and 200 meter dash runner although he never mentioned it or bragged about his ability the only way someone would know about his talent would be by either seeing him run or seeing the enormous collection of medals he had won from national competitions and track meets.

Miranda paused for a while to think about the offer. She was usually up for competition, though she usually didn't play for any wagers, especially against her best friend, who seemed to always come up with many awkward things to do. She wasn't even sure about what she'd have him do if she won. However, she couldn't help but be greatly intrigued by the idea. "Hmm...careful. Don't want to get too crazy, but I think I'll take you up on that offer." She suddenly took off ahead, giggling softly.

"Cheater!" he yelled in amusement as he took off in a sprint trying to catch up with her, "I'm not sure what's gotten into me but I want to win this wager!" he thought as his powerful legs moved like pistons and he quickly caught up with her as they reached the half way point. "Come on you better take me seriously unless you want to lose!" he teased as each passing second brought them closer and closer to the gate.

Miranda turned her head slighty, surprised to see how fast Nikolai was catching up to her."What? He's so fast!" she thought, starting to pick up her pace up to full speed. They seemed to be evenly matched, almost always neck and neck. Miranda could see the front gates slowly get closer, and she was starting to get tired. She just didn't have enough to keep up, and Nikolai passed through first. She almost fell over as she slowed down, trying to catch her breath. "Ah...I lost."

Nikolai finally stopped after he passed the gate and jogged back to her, "Man that was a great run! Some of the best competition I've ever had." he complemented her as he offered her his hand to try and help her up. "So will you honor or wager or just call it a competition between friends?" he asked as he finally came up with his idea but decided to allow her a choice if she felt uncomfortable.

Miranda had a giant smile on her face, despite how out of breath she was. "Wow. That was a great race." she said, standing straight now. "You really are fast! I even took a head start." She figured that she'd accept whatever it was he wanted. After all, she had agreed to these terms. "I'll stand by our wager. So, what'll it be?" she asked, a curious look on her face.

"Nothing extreme really." he told her trying to put her mind at ease, "To be honest I would just like to have a nice dinner with you." he told her naming his simple request. He suddenly felt a little shy but at the same time she was his first friend on campus so he figures he'd share at least one more fun moment with her before they split for the day. "So how does that sound?" he asked as he awaited her answer.
