The wind was getting stronger and the weather was starting to get worse. Neo was truly getting worried. He would have to find some shelter tonight or he might not survive another night. Neo was a smaller neko. He was only 150cm with a tiny frame, but it was perfect to fit into rather small places. That had been him saving plenty of times.

He was dressed in some badly ripped jeans and a few jumpers. But the wind was still getting into his skin. Neo was freezing cold and as far he knew the city was still far away. Perhaps there was a hunter cabin around here? Neo tried to walk faster, but the rain was starting to fall. Ice cold. Biting his already cold skin.

Then he saw a house between the three line. Finally! Neo smiled to herself and was glad when he could sneak into garden. No alarm went off. He knocked on the door, but there was no one in. Actually the house seemed to be empty. Neo smiled. An empty house. He could sneak in and stay here until the storm had passed.

Through a broken window did he found a way inside. It made his knuckles to bleed and the fall down from it’s edge hurt his ankle. But at least he was inside. Neo let out a few curses as he rose up a bit too fast. His back bumped into a unsteady shelf. Then something hard hit his head, making him fall fall back to the floor. Another dumped into his shoulder, arm and once more into his head. Neo felt something run down from his face and sad whimper escaped him.

Michael, 26 years old
Blue eyes, black hair
Lean muscular body

Unknown to Neo, the house wasn't actually empty, it's owner was just asleep. Michael quickly sat up in his bed when he heard loud noises coming from somewhere in his house, it sounded like the basement. He got out of bed wearing a simple pair of pajama pants and an old tee shirt. He walked to his closet and grabbed an old bat before he preceded to walk to the basement. He turned the light on and walked down the steps looking for whatever made the noise, what he saw surprised him. A man wearing cat ears and ratty clothing was laying in floor covered in paint.
"Who the hell are you?", he asked after taking a moment to take everything in. "Why did you break into my house?"

He dried away some paint that had been running down on his cheek. Smear it out instead actually taking it away. Neo notice the lights got turned on and steps walking in the stairs. He tried to see a place to hide, but who was he trying to fool. There was paint all over him. No way he could get away. Instead he sat waiting for the person to come closer. A tall handsome looking man.
A angry man.
Neo felt tiny. He wanted to sunk through the floor.
"I... I..." Neo didn't knew what to say and stumble over the words. "I just... There is so stormy outside and the window was open, sir. I..." Oh everything he could come up with sounded like a bad excuse. "Please I didn't meant to break your things. I am so sorry... Please let me stay for the night, sir." He barely dared to look up at the man. Neo was sure he would be out in the cold night any minute again.

Michael looked warily at the stranger. He didn't expect him to act so scared, especially for someone who willingly just broke into a person's house. "And why should I let you stay here exactly?", he asked. "How do I know you won't try to take off with some of my stuff when I'm not looking?". Michael looked at the mess the stranger made. "And look at this!", he motioned to the mess. "This is going to be a pain in the ass to clean!".

What had he to lose? Going back out in the storm? Neo rose up from the floor. His head was hurting awful and so was his ankel. Neo changed his weight to the other foot and looked down and around him. There was indeed paint all around him. The man was most likely right. It would be a pain to take away.
"I'm so sorry. Please. I can clean it up?"

Michael huffed. "You don't look like you'd be much help in the shape you're in.", he said in a gentler tone. "There are some shop towels behind you you can use to wipe the paint off of yourself.". He looked at the stranger. "So, what's wrong with you anyway?".

Neo turned around and saw there was some kind of towels on a chair. He took one to whip away some paint that had begun to dry on his skin. Neo rubbed the towel over his hair. Oh, now he got some on his ears as well. Annoyed about it did he try to get it away. Neo turned back to the man. What was wrong? He could not see that there was something wrong with him. Yes, he was a bit hurt and a little dirty maybe. But he was okay, right? Neo moved his tail up to his front and tired to get the paint away as well. He looked down on himself once more, before he looked back at the man, feeling a bit nervous.
"I got a bit hurt from the fall." He pointed on the window. "I didn't knew it would be so far down on the other side."

Michael shook his head. "It's a basement. What did you expect?", he asked sarcastically. He then noticed the man's ears and tail. "What's with those?", he asked pointing to his ears. "I've heard of fake tails, but I didn't know they could move too.".

Was he kidding?
"These are not fake, sir." Neo's ears went flat on his head to prove his point. "this is all me."
Had he not heard about nekos? His kind was very popular a few years ago. Neo gave up trying to get the paint off his fur. It was useless. Outside was the wind howling strong and the thunder growling loud. Neo looked at the broken window. There was no way he would go out there freely. Neo looked back at the man.
"Please sir, let me stay the night. I will sleep here and I promise I will be gone by morning..."

Michael scratched his head and thought to himself for a minute. "I'll let you stay, IF you help me clean this mess.", he said. "And I suggest we hurry before the paint starts to dry."

Neo nodded quickly. He was so glad that the other would let him stay. Neo took a step back from the paint and looked at the man.
"Tell me how and I will fix it." He told the other one. Eager to start.

"Well, we need to mop the paint up.", Michael replied. "I'll be back with some mops and there might be a bucket or two down here.". He walked off to find the mops then returned a short time later with two and a bottle of dish soap.

Neo let out a sigh once the man had walked away. He could stay the night! Neo was so glad for that.
When the man came back did he help out to clean away the paint. It took time and not everything went away. There was still some stain left. Neo hoped that would be okay. He never meant for the buckets to fell down.

Michael looked at the small bit of what was left and grimaced. "Hell I shouldn't have expected to get all of it.". He turned his attention to the neko. "I should be in bed right now. Why don't you head upstairs and try to clean some of that paint off.".

Neo was surprised by the other's words. He had been expected to stay in here and his plan was to sneak away early in the morning. Neo nodded slowly. He took a few steps to make sure there was no coloured footprints after himself.
Neo walked upstairs and very quickly found the kitchen. Water! He turned on the tap and drank as much he could at the time. Drinking a bit too fast made him cough a few times. Neo turned off the water and breathed heavy for a few seconds before he turned it to semi warm and tried to get the paint come out of his hair and tail.

Michael walked up the stairs and saw him. "What are you doing? I meant take a bath!", he said. "It's the least I could do for you helping me.".

"Oh...." Neo felt stupid. How could he have known what the other meant. He turned off the water and nodded slowly. Neo soon found himself in the bath tub, heating up in the warm water. Oh, for how long had he not longed for this? Neo felt himself relax and he was starting to get more and more tired.

There was a knocking at the door. "Don't take too long! I need to get to bed and I don't trust you walking around my house while I'm trying to sleep.".

"Sorry sir!" Neo called out and hurried up from the tub. He put a towel around his waist and open the door. Water was still dropping from him. His skin was pale and slight red from the warm water. Neo's body was slim, clearly underweight from being homeless. He turned to take a small towel from the skin to dry his hair with. On his back was there some faded whip marks.

Michael was in the living room watching TV. He was waiting on the neko to finish so he could go to bed. As he watched TV, he wondered if it was a bad thing letting a stranger spend the night in his house.

He looked at his old clothes. They was covered in paint as well. Neo hung them up to dry as he didn't wanted to spread more paint elsewhere.
Neo still had the towel around him as he came walking out from the bathroom. "Sir, I am done." He felt bad for keeping the other one up. After all it was his fault that the man wasn't in his bed sleeping now.

Michael turned to look at the neko and was a little surprised by what he saw. "Why are you just in a towel?", he asked. "You know I'm only letting you stay for the night right? I just want to be clear about it.".

"I know, sir. But there is wet paint on my clothes and I don't want to mess up more then I have already done. I am really, really grateful that you are letting me stay for the night." Neo smiled. "If there anything I can do to make it up for it, please let me know, okay?"

Michael stood up from the couch. "Don't get too excited. I expect to see you gone in the morning.". He started walking away. "I'm going to find a pillow and a blanket for you to use.". He returned a few minutes later holding a pillow and a blanket and laid them on the couch. "There. Now I'm going to bed.", he said as he turned and walked back to his room.

"I know." Neo nodded and then smiled as the man returned. "I am very, very grateful for this, sir. I hope you will be able to sleep after all." Neo hurried up to get under the blankets. It felt wonderful. Neo smiled. This was not what he had expected but he was so glad that he wasn't sleeping outside. The nasty storm was still going strong. It did not took too many minutes until he was sleeping deep.

The morning came and Neo had still not left. He had actually not moved at all. The blanket was held all the way up to his chin and yet he seemed to sweaty underneath it. Neo had got a fever during the night as a result of the cold weather and hot bath.
