Beware the Bogeyman (RebeccaBlack X Ezralora)

Astrid took in a deep breath as she felt the caffeine beginning to calm her nerves. She was just about finishing the cup before hearing Rachel calling out for her. Turning on her heels she ran a hand through her hair before heading into the ward. "Yeah 'm here..." She said as she walked back in and too a seat again, seeing that she must be tripping a bit with the painkillers. "I'm sure the doctor will be here soon... don't worry.."

The painkillers were really loosening her up, her inhibitions were lowering and as Astrid came in she smiled shyly. "Im not sorry I kissed you," she blurted out. the filter was gone now and in her state Rachel didnt care if she ever saw it. "You know I had a HUGE crush on you growing up. Thats why...thats why it...it hurt so much, thas why I was so angry with you." He speech was slurring a bit from the meds now and she struggled to focus on Astrid's face. "I was so angry, cause...cause I was losing you and it hurt so much, it hurt to know you thought I was crazy. Is funny, even now, I cant...I cant shake you. I dont think I want to even afer everthing."

Astrid was taking a sip of her coffee as she watched her slowly lose her mind to the drugs as she just began to talk about random things. She chewed the inside of her cheek before puffing her cheeks out and shook her head. "Sure you did..." She muttered, still a little shook by the kiss that she had just done, but the more she spoke the more it hurt. Closing her eyes she opened them to stare into the mug. "Had being the correct word.." She added before brushing her hair out of her face and removed her glasses to clean them. "You're stuck with me now... that's for sure.." She finally said. "Maybe it's just one of those weird things that we're just going to continue to bump into each other at the worst of times."

Stretching out her uninjured hand Rachel took Astrid's and softly ran her thumb across the top of her hand. "Maybe is the drugs," she slurred as she smiled like an idiot. "But wha if it didn always have ter be like that." She was trying to string thoughts together but it was becomming harder and her brain flashed back onto something else Astrid had just said. "Sorry had was wrong word. Have, still have. Just...Just hurt, hurting...dont...dont want to hurt no more." Tears were starting to fall from her eyes now, blurring her vision more. "Asrid make stop hurting, please." Her head fell back against the pillow, it felt so heavy, her whole body felt so heavy.

Astrid glanced over at her as she seemed to be trying to take her hand. Reaching out she closed her fingers around it, to reassure her she was still there. But there was more to it as she kept talking. "Rachel... the drugs are messing with your head.." She told her, trying to fight back a few tears of her own and leaned forward before kissing her forehead. "Just try and get some sleep okay..? Don't worry i'll be here and the lights are staying on." She told her shaking the torch to confirm it. "We'll... we'll talk when you're not drugged up."

Rachel's eyes fluttered and began to close when there was a knock at the door. "Hi, Im Dr. Harris," an older man came into the room, he was balding through his hair was still a deep, rich brown and his clear blue eyes sparkled with kindness. "I understand Miss Morgan, had a tumble down the stairs at school?" Looking up he noticed that Rachel was in no fit state to answer. Turning instead to Astrid he stated. "We're just about ready to wheel her in to get an x-ray and see how bad it is, but just from the preliminary notes its looking like its a break, still the x-ray will say for sure. Can you tell me more what happened Miss...."

Astrid glanced forward as she heard the doctor coming before she let out a long sigh. "Just the light's went out and she stumbled and fell into a metal railing pretty hard." She added and pushed her glasses up. "Is... is it okay if i stay with her?She just asked me too and i kind of don't want to leave her just yet." She told him, hoping that he would let her stay with Rachel.

"Well you cant go into the x-ray room with her, but there is a waiting room outside it where you can stay until shes done. It shouldnt take to long." The doctor turned to his clip board, writing down notes about the incident before looking up at Astrid. "Im sotty Miss I didnt catch your name. Are you in a relationship with Miss Morgan or perhaps a family member?" He looked at Astrid expectantly. "I was under the assumption that we had called her immidiate family and they had not arrived yet."

Astrid took in a deep breath as she took her glasses off for a moment. "I erm... okay." She said as she brushed a streak of her hair behind her ear, feeling the nerves beginning to set in a little as they spoke. "Oh i'm her..." She widened her eyes, what was she to Rachel? They had kissed sure, and had hated each other for a long time. She rubbed the back of her head and glanced down. "I'm a close friend who was there."

The doctor eyed her over his clipboard. "Uh-huh," he said, his tone not sounding convinced. "Well as I said you can wait out in the waiting room if you want, you can wait in here as well, it appears she was in a lot of pain when they brought her in and she may have suffered a concussion as well so we'll be keeping her overnight," Rachel whimpered at that and tightened her grip on Astrid's hand. "Just as a precaution." Tucking the clipboard under his arm two orderlies came in and began to wheel Rachel out, her grip wasnt strong enough to keep hold of Astrid's hand and it slid out as she was wheeled out on the bed. The doctor followed behind them, leaving Astrid alone.

Fifteen minutes later and Sarah came almost careening into the room. "Rachel!" She asked as she looked around as though expecting to see her little sister sitting in a chair instead she saw Astrid and her eyes narrowed. "You," she almost snarled. "This is just great as if Rachel doesnt have enough problems you show back up, let me guess it just happens to be a coincidence that as soon as you show back up in her life Rachel ends up in the hospital."

Astrid felt the grip on her hand but had to reluctantly let go. "I'll be here once you're back okay?" She called her trying to reassure her, hoping at least it would work somewhat. Once she was wheeled out though she cursed under her breath believing that she should have been more realstic... It was hard though, very hard. She pulled at her hair and let it down as it draped down over her back and she waited for Rachel to come back. But nothing could have prepared her for the storm Sarah that was to come.

Sitting up she heard the you, and internally cringed as she just wanted to turn away before pushing her glasses up. No she wasn't going to be pushed around! She wasn't a little kid anymore. "Yes because i would naturally break her arm with my mere presence. Sarah you're sister if is freaking hurt and i've been with her for most of the afternoon trying to make sure she's okay... It was just an accident.. They happen." She told her, her gaze not wavering. It was like something had possessed her as she spoke, she could barely recognise herself at this moment.
