Justus laughed when Adonna took offense at his little barb about the play, pinching her hip, as he liked to do so much. Taking Adonna by the hand, they scurried inside just as the big raindrops started to fall all around them. "What a shame," he teased once they were safe inside. "We'll have to spend the rest of the night inside together," he said with mock disappointment. Looking through the open door to their bedroom, and seeing the images of the deities inside, he suddenly had an idea. "Why don't we pray together, Adonna? For my safety while I'm away, and for the safeguarding of our marriage during that time," he suggested. He knew that Adonna liked to beseech the gods, yet she'd always seemed to do it while he was away so far. He held her by the waist and kissed her head as they continued to get settled inside.
