Different World, Different Life (Foxxo and Guardian)

Elise just chatted with the other girls during the night, all three of them giggling a bit. Of course Victoria and Natasha were clueless to the prank that was about to be pulled, although that was probably a good thing. Despite Elise being the nerd of their class, the two did consider her to be a friend, and they really did hate when people talked bad about her. That had been proven the day that she had left to go sit with her mother at the hospital, and the gossip that had spread.

Soon enough the food was being served and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves on the delicious food that was brought out to them. The girls did look over towards Ian when he got up and went over to where Jack was at, and was saying something to him, but they dismissed it at that point in time.

"Oh potty break. Nat, Elise, come with me." Victoria spoke after a moment in time as she was getting to her feet, which had the other two getting up as well. Yeah the girls going to the bathroom together was never going to be an unusual thing.

The boys took this bathroom break as an opportunity to come over and talk with Jack about the prank.

"So, how are you going to do it bro? I'm imagining something big, and public. Man I'm so excited." Steve laughed, whereas Paul and Ian listened intently, waiting for a response.

"Well, I haven't thought much about the specifics yet. I figured I'll probably improvise a bit. We'll see how it goes." He smiled, not pleased with himself at all. He hadn't thought about what he was going to do, mostly because he didn't want to.

"Alright man, don't worry I'll help you out if you need it. Just give me a look when you want to get things started and I'll get the ball rolling." Ian was trying to be a friend, but Jack doubted whether he really realized just how much they were planning to screw with a perfectly nice girl.

"Thanks, I guess..." Jack clearly looked uncomfortable, but the boys probably just dismissed it as him being nervous. He was the least outgoing of them, and never really did this sort of thing.

The girls were in the bathroom for a bit, actually using the restroom and then retouching their make-up and fixing up their hair. Soon enough though they were walking out of the bathroom, just talking about the dance at that point in time. Their current topic? Who they thought was going be be named king and queen of the dance for the night. It was definitely going to be interesting.

They were returning to the table so that they could sit down and continue to eat their food, although it was actually Victoria that pointed out that they should probably get going soon, that the dance was going to be started soon.

Jack just kind of went along as the feeling of dread threatened to overwhelm him. He knew what was coming and it left this aching feeling in his gut.

They didn't speak much after dinner, and on the way to the dance. Just polite small talk, if they had fun, whether they enjoyed the food, that kind of thing.

Soon enough they arrived, and students were already pouring in. They could hear music from outside as they both got out of the car and made their way through the front doors. All the other girls and guys in their dinner group we're waiting just inside. Ian and Steve both laughed a bit, winking at Jack.

The rest of dinner was rather silent, and before they knew it they were off to the dance. About the most talking that occurred was small talk, but that was about it. It was just more or less awkward silence.

Upon arriving at the dance, already students were pouring into the building. Music could be heard from outside, as Elise was climbing out of the car, merely drifting after Jack towards the front doors. Man she felt a little awkward being there, but hopefully that would fade away sooner rather than later. It seemed like all of the others were there already, Natasha and Victoria just greeting the other two when they arrived.

"Lets go and dance." Victoria spoke after a moment in time, which had Natasha giving a nod. It wasn't long before they were going over to their dates, and linking arms with them.

Jack was hesitant at first. When was he going to do this? Should it be right now? His mind and body told him no. It was too early. Though that could have been an excuse given his nervousness.

He looked around and saw just about everyone else was starting to dance. He wasn't much of a dancer but this kind of thing always made him feel like he was under pressure to dance. Jack really didn't enjoy these things, but his friends did, so he always seemed to tag along. Most of the time he'd never bring a date though.

After a few minutes of thinking and hesitating, he walked up to Elise, his own date, and asked her in a soft voice if she wanted to dance. Everyone else was, so they might as well join in right?

Man she hated being there at the time, although she was slowly finding herself getting use to it. The crowd, loud music, and a lot of people. Eventually her attention was turning towards Jack when he came over and asked if she wanted to dance. This had her giving a faint smile before she spoke, "Oh sure, I would love to dance." Mind as well, everybody else was at the time.

Jack took her by the hand and followed a few of his friends out into the center of the room, where quite a few students were already dancing. He set himself up, and at first said nothing as they danced at a bit of a distance from one another. He could barely bring himself to occasionally look into her eyes. Every time he did he could feel guilt sweep over him.

There was still a small chance that he could get through today without pulling this prank, but what would his friends think? They would jeer at him for a long time, and probably never let him live this down. Whereas if he did it, only a few people would probably hate him. People that didn't matter to him, right? It was becoming obvious that Jack was lost in thought.

Elise just followed after him onto the dance floor, seeming to stay around the others at that point in time, although that really didn't make much of a difference to her at that point in time. Currently the music was a bit on the slower side, but that was something that would change as the night went on, the music would end up turning more upbeat. It always did. "You alright? You seem lost in thought." Elise spoke after a moment in time, as she looked up at him.
