Today was a day much like any other Rachel led her charge in morning prayer, the morning light shining through the small chapels stained windows and making the few strands of blonde hair that escaped from her habit shine beautifully after that they went to make breakfast. Today was a more bountiful meal then most days since the butcher in the town over donated some bacon along with the usual beef and pork they used for dinner. Rachel cooked as her charge, Angel set out the table.
Angel had been all but born into the convent, left with the nuns when her mother abandoned her, they had all been so taken with the young girl that they gave her a bit of a cliche but no less meaningful name, her beautiful red hair tied back cleanly under her habit. Once the table was set she placed some plates by Rachel to serve with and patiently waited to eat. After they ate in mostly silence Rachel stood.
"I'm off to clean the chapel, can I trust you to take care of the kitchen today my dear?" Rachel spoke in a soft and respectful tone of her charge
"Yes of course, I'll start right after breakfast, reverend mother." The same soft and respect filled voice leaving the young girl as she waited for Rachel to leave before returning to her meal, both prepared to go about their duties.
