Bailey needed alcohol after finding the flash drive and watching an edited version of Thursday's after school events. She didn't even have time to check her phone to see that she had been sent 20 new messages. Most from members of the volleyball team that she coached and treated like daughters or sisters.
The sad state she was left in also caused her to miss dinner and go to sleep after taking some more pain killers. By the morning, she finally exchanged ideas with counselor Sparks over breakfast at Panera Bread. She also found a discreet way to talk to the older woman about teacher and student relations. She told a lie about almost wanting to have relations with one of her teachers when she was the age of many on the volleyball team.
Counselor Sparks simply told her, she knew many students and teachers who have never crossed the line and that we also probably don't hear about many such relationships that actually exist in secret. She left there not feeling any better about her own blackmail situation.
After getting gas for her car, she looked into taking up self defense at a local gym. The owner practically laughed her out of the place. He had said, "Become a man, ain't nobody with a body like that saving herself unless she gets a gun!"
She found the whole a woman can't defend herself unless she gets a gun saying to be crazy. She could never shoot someone as much as she hated Lance, she didn't wish him dead. She did head home and try to put a knife under her pillow. That idea ended when she nearly cut herself trying to hide it. She decided to just forget about Lance for rest of her morning. That was until she felt sore while doing laundry and moping her kitchen floor.
Bailey had just put away a load of laundry and taken the lint from dryer to throw it into the trash when she heard annoying person pressing on the doorbell. Walking upstairs from her laundry room, she looked through the peephole and didn't see anyone. Then not using her best judgement, she opened the door to look in the mailbox because sometimes the carrier left a note, if he or she was unable to deliver a package. She was wearing a plaid button up shirt that was tied at the belly, which meant her belly button was being bared. Then she also had on white denim shorts that were belted. It had been a warm morning and she felt like wearing something from spring in the fall.
She wouldn't have been showing so much of her body had she known Lance intended to spend some of the day with her. She didn't find anything in the mailbox. It was mounted to the wall just inches from the doorbell. Looking out from the small porch she was ready to go back inside and lock the door.
