Heart & Heat [Leon \ wiki234]

The large student would have a large grin over his face as he would look down at the boy and his panicked apology. He then heard the sound of a girl behind him. Once he caught a glimpse of the lava girl, he would turn around. "Oh, so the geek and the freak? Sounds bout right." He would laugh as he would look back to Lei whom was picking himself off the ground. Lei paused at the words and quickly tightened his fists. He wanted to hit the older student for the insult but the difference in the two were too great and that would lead to something he wouldn't be able to come back from.

Lei would hold tight onto his bag as he would try and just move passed the bully to join Makabe. "Lets go..." He would continue into the doors of the building with his head down.

She turned around hearing the insult as she focused hard enough and tightened her whole body before swinging her arm as a black shard of compressed lava flew past the boys pant leg maybe even ripping it a bit if he moved slow enough. β€œ fight me..” deciding to say to the boy himself as she had a wicked grin on her face before waiting for lee to open the door finally then.

The boy would jerk his leg up and turned to look down at it, a slash cut along the pant leg. He would then look back at the shard that was now in the ground from the throw and then look back to the girl that now threw down the challenge. "You are a freak!" Lei would pull the door open when he heard the comment to which he would turn back and see the scene. "M-Makabe! No! It's okay! He isn't worth it!" The bully would point toward Lei. "You best watch yourself nerd! You're not the only one with strong friends." Lei would quickly turn his attention to the lava covered girl. "Makabe, let's just go, we don't need to get in trouble on campus. Please." He had grown accustomed to the bullying but it never happened when Makabe was actually around him so it was okay. But having her actually here made things complicated. She could actually put them in the hospital.

β€œ if it’s strong human friends then I would love a challenging fight, well even then it’s not even a challenge since you can’t even touch me and...yeah...” shrugging as she stuck out her tongue. β€œ lee I know you can’t really do anything to them yourself because you have me now, but still while your here and I’m here and your showing me around the human world, the least I can do is protect you then..and don’t you dare forget that or say something like, who cares it’s about getting in trouble. But I mean the logical idea is that he started it and not me and you can’t even stop me if you wanted to...” sticking her tongue out in a small tease as she shifted the black plates on her body to cover more of her arms and torso as she was able to hug him against her rough plates and be able to not burn him from the shielding but he could feel the warmth of her face a few inches away from him of course before pulling away and shifting her plates back.

"Tch'" The bully would sneer at the girls remarks, seemingly blowing off the girl with a thrown hand in dismissal. "I got more important things to do than this shit." He would give a passing glare at the girl and then to the boy before throwing his hands into his pockets, leaving the two behind him. Lei would hold his hands in one another as Makabe would begin to lecture him, he didn't really think he was worth looking after. It was nice having her around before but he felt safe. Even while he was being scolded, it was more because it was her way of showing that she cared for his well being. "Yeah...I'm sorr-" His apology was short lived as he felt himself pressed against what felt like a warm road. The color of his face turned quickly to a beet red as he was quick to realize just what was happening. The feeling was soon cut short as Lei looked to the ground, a hand now raised to the side of his face that was pressed against her. The smile that was on his face was the largest it had ever been. "Y-yeah, you're right M-makabe. T-thank you."

The girl sighed and crossed her arms before covering her fingers in the plates and opening the door to walk in before shifting the plates back again as it seemed she mostly found a way to stop the flames of her actual body against mostly anything. β€œ jeez you dummy...” giving that simple reply as she looked around deciding to wait and follow then as she didn’t really feel like doing anything herself to figuring something like this for now.

The boy would move forward as Makabe would call him an idiot, he knew it was simply her way of joking around and it being her way. Even if he did care about it, he was still reeling from the contact between them. The world seemed at peace with itself, at least for the time being. He could still feel the warmth on his cheek, though he wasn't sure if it was still from her or the embarrassment. He would follow her as she opened the door, moving ahead of her before speaking finally. "S-so, thanks for that...I...ummm, not really sure what to say. Haven't really been white knighted before. Either been the knight or having one."

And there it was again with her confusion as she looked at him weirdly by what he just said and ignoring the thanks as she mostly didn’t see it as a big deal or anything anyway at all. β€œ jeez you humans say weird stuff randomly.” Crossing her arms as she looked around again boredly before following slowly again behind him.

He did not think that she would get the reference but it was something he felt needed to be said, regardless if it was fully understood. He understood it and that was all that mattered. "Yeah, it's a quirk that we have. Words have their own power and we like to use them when we can." He would continue into the building as he would pass a couple rooms, stopped at one that would be their own for the time being. He'd pull open the door to the classroom. A couple of the chairs were simple and one could tell they were for normal humans. But there were a few dotted across the room that each had some sort of feature to them. Either ones made of steel, some were longer than others and there was even a fish tank that was the size of a large man. Makabe's looked like it was made from some sort of metal and stone, far bulkier than the rest of the chairs.

Soon they made it in, curiously looking around as she even had a bit of wonder and awe seeing the strange desks and the large classroom as she had never seen something a smaller room so far that had simple but many odd but still unique things such as just the desks themselves. It took her a moment to figure it out which one would be heard before finally making her way over and sitting down as there was a sizzling sound of course as she sat down.

Lei would watch as Makabe would stare from the doorway, looking about the room. While he wasn't entirely sure just what it was that she was looking at, he liked seeing her in a bit of wonder. He would watch as she moved to her own seat and sat down, Lei would come to sit across from her in a simple desk, putting his backpack inside as he looked over at her own. "Is it comfortable? It's not melting so that has to be an improvement and it looks awesome." Lei would place his hands on the desk before him, tapping his fingers on it in a small rhythm. "The school really likes to try and go all out with the students."

β€œ yeah just having that ease makes it so so much better...” I’ve never been to a school like this and I was scared that we would go to an all human school for some reason as I’ve never really but guessed that they had separate monster only schools or kinda mixed schools that were mostly rare like this...” she sighed, relaxing with a small smile of excitement for the moment but wondering about something for a moment. β€œ don’t monsters have to pay too though? I mostly live alone and I don’t have a job or anything unless somehow I’m in a program or something...” not remembering at all as she continued to wait then.

Lei would smile as he would place his elbow onto his desk and put his cheek in the hand so that he was now propped up. She was doing it once again, that cute molten smile over the lava-like lips. "Yeah, I think this is...like, the eleventh school to go full co-ed with monsters. Though, people are still being skeptical so I can expect some students, humans and monster alike not wanting to come the first couple days. Not sure what all could happen when you mix all these people together." She would then go to speak about having to pay as she didn't have any way of getting the money as she didn't have a job. "

Oh, you don't have to worry about that. The program takes care of any accidents that happen involving monsters and my parents signed the papers to have your school supplies paid for, lunch included. To be honest, I don't think they even actually looked at what it was they were signing. I just kinda sent it to them and got it back a few minutes later. Pro's and con's of having doting parents. It isn't a dent in their wallet and I mean, it is going to a good cause." He would raise his free hand into a fist and lift it into the air nonchalantly. "Kids are the future, am I right?"

β€œ hmmm” thinking quizzically as she couldn’t help but grin a bit for the moment as she heard him say a good cause seeing that he was lucky then do something like that actually worked to help her out then. Maka still found it a bit weird but happy then that he did something like that then maybe since he cared a lot more than she would have expected then, before her face suddenly turned red with a sudden blush at his comment as it felt like her heart skipped a bit with what he just said feeling like it somehow referred to her in some way and still not getting any of the expressions as that intense feeling made the heat radiating off her spread out and make the room a bit hotter than it was before she closed her and sighed to calm down with the heat fading then.

Lei found any way of helping Makabe to be a good idea, getting her to live a little outside of the mountain brought him a bit of happiness to his rather dull life. Seeing her interact with people or things was always interesting, regardless of what results would follow. She was difficult but he never held that against her, why wouldn't she be? He could only imagine how he would act in the same position so he wanted to be able to help when and how he could, contribute. He would take in a breath and felt almost as if there was no moisture in the air which caused him to take in a deeper breath than normal. A light tug on his collar would show that the room had definitely grown a bit warmer. He would look around and then over toward Makabe as the warmth of the room would slowly fade. "Are you okay Makabe? Are you feeling okay?" He would hate for her first day to end in a sickness and wondered, what was a sick lava girl like?

β€œ yeah I’m fine, feel a bit tired and hungry already...” giving a sigh as she laid on top her arms on the desk as she looked around boredly wondering when the class would actually start then finally as she didn’t like very much when something wasnt even fun though she could already tell that this wouldn’t be the last time she would think that.

Lei would look Makabe over a few times as she spoke of being tired and a bit on the hungry side. What would she like to eat that was at the school? Surely they would have thought ahead in order to look out for the needs of each student. It was then that a the class would start to get more and more students, not enough to take up all the seats but at least half the seats were taken.

It was then that a door would slide open and in would walk a older woman that was surely their Teacher. She would come to stand at the front of the room, smile ever present on her face. "Good morning my fresh faced little buds." She would turn around and grab a piece of chalk and write on the board quickly yet elegantly, only turning around once done with the name 'Ninomiya' on the board. "My name is Miss Ninomiya, you all can call me Miss Nino for short. Hopefully we can have a memorable school year."

The girl tilted her head again to take everything that was happening in and figure it out as she gave a small smile than anything as she understood. Maka hopes then and was more curious completely than anything to guessing she would start to experience a normal school life especially since it was human and monster instead having a school with just one species, crossing her arms as the heat grew in the room a bit again but not much hotter than it already was then dying down to normal as She started to grow some horns as she just wanted to change her appearance even a tiny bit.

The teacher would look over the class, a bit saddened at the overall number but kept a smile on her face. The idea that not too many were interested in such a shift in daily life between monsters and humans, their kids to be more precise was understandable. This would change, she was sure of it. The temperature of the room would flux for a moment and cause her to begin speaking again. "Now, I know that this is a strange time for everyone, our guests included but I will have to say that I for one am happy to be teaching such a diverse group of kids. So, let's get through the normal school stuff for our first day. Who wants to start by introducing themselves? Maybe adding what you like to do in your spare time?"

The class would fall silent but a hesitant hand would raise as Lei would use one of his hands to push the other up, making sure that it didn't back down from being raise. "Yes, come on up here young man!" Lei froze almost instantly as Mrs. Ninomiya called on him, as if he wasn't expecting to be picked but being the only one to raise his hand, there was no other competition. Lei would look over at Makabe, seeing the change in appearance and somehow gathering strength to look good in front of her.

Lei would stand up and quickly make his way to the front of the room, looking at the floor almost the entire time. He would be handed a piece of chalk to write his name. He would start writing but when he was done, the name was far too small so he would erase the name and try to make it bigger but once more, too small. Third time he had it just smaller than the one the teacher had made. He would turn around, his head slowly forcing itself up to see the students all looking at him, waiting for him to speak. "M-My Name... My name..." He would glance at Makabe and then looked back to the class. "My name is Lei. I like making things. Happy to meet you all." He would bow as the teacher would clap. "Well, that was vague but well done Lei, great to have you with us."

Lei would quickly make his way back to his chair as the whispers of other students making various comments about the introduction. He would sit down and cross his arms, burring himself in them, only peering up to peek at the blackboard to see whom would be next.

The girl would decide then to stand up than race her hand as she sighed, the temperature increasing a tiny bit but dying back to normal again as she stood up and slowly turned, β€œ I am makabe, I live just outside of the city inside an old volcano. I am a lava golem.” Thinking what else to say for a moment, β€œ o-oh but you can call me maka, well...I like learning about and experiencing new things, but probably my favorite thing to do that I don’t get to do much is to test my fighting ability. I’ve come up with a few combos and moves that I could maybe show you one day if anyone would be interested.” With that she bowed, β€œ I hope to make friends here, thank you.” Turning to glance at the teacher if she thought it was fine to sit before walking over and sitting back down as she leaned back to relax with a sizzle on the chair from the contact of both of those actions.

Lei would turn to see Makabe stand and begin her own introduction, the human children all seemed to take greater notice of the monster girl that was speaking. As she began to finish, the teacher would clap. "Well, it is nice to have you with us Makabe and while I hope that you can find many friends, I will have to talk about some thins involving specially gifted children. One of the more important rules is that you try and keep your...talents to a minimum unless otherwise instructed. Not everyone is ready so we are all adjusting." The teacher would then laugh hesitantly. "As for your...how should we say, 'your fighting ability', I will have to tell you that fighting isn't something that is allowed on school grounds."

She blushed embarrassingly, β€œ I am well of aware of that, I have struggled more than other species of course because my nature though usually peaceful is a naturally destructive one.” Giving a nervous chuckle as she hoped that no one would try to pick on her about it too much then. β€œ I-I’ll try my best to c-control it!” Being of the biggest things she was scared of which was getting blame for not being able to even unintentionally control her fire and just her whole body itself.
