A pair of bird would chirp on a power line outside, the sky cloudless and blue. They would take off as a beeping from a building would scare them. The beeping came from a large pot beside a sink, the pot looked almost ancient in its design and very odd against the modern looking set of the kitchen. A pair of feet would be doing something behind the cloth curtain of the doorway.

A young man would stand in front of a mirror, just finishing washing his face, using a towel to dry it. He would exit the restroom and walk past a wardrobe and would snatch a jacket off a hanger and then stopped at the door to put his shoes on and then make his way out the door as he finished sliding the jacket on. He would make his way down the sidewalk, looking down at a paper that had several marks and circles and he seemed very intent on remembering what was on it. He would stop at an intersection and stop, seemingly with no plans on moving till something or someone came along.

Deep within the rocky and dangerous mountains lived one of the most dangerous beings, part of an equally dangerous race for obvious reasons being that her subtype didn’t help as well with fitting in well to society as easily as most of the other different species of her kind. A lava golem that has lived mostly well among the the humans, the particular girl herself having to retreat back when it was night to stop the freezing air from hardening her body; makabe. As the bright sun finally appeared in the sky, the mountain itself could be seen full of smoke seeing there was some activity inside as the girl formed a monstrous body as she used it to move through the lava and under the tubes underground to emerge somewhere in the forest closer to the city before taking her human form and heading down finally.

Lee would continue to scan the paper, muttering words to himself out loud, causing a few passersby to give him strange stares and others aiming to ignore him altogether. It was the last thing that he was unable to get through on a test he had taken a few days prior and the mistake was something that haunted him. It was simple enough but the more he looked at the paper, the greater his frustration became. There was but one thing that could break him from his torment and it came in the form of an eruption of sorts. His attention would turn away from the paper and toward the mountain as smoke billowed from its top. Lee would then start his walk toward the edge of the forest and stop just shy of the shadows from the trees overhead as he awaited the arrival of the cause of the aforementioned ongoings.

Makabe finally appeared completely out of the edge of the forest to a more open area as she could sense someone nearby, walking out to see and feel the familiar aura as her body was covered in obsidian plates all along her body as well as the flowing lava that could be seen in between the cracks of course as she stopped just a few feet to meet him deciding not to saying anything yet as she was still getting used to how humans would meet and greet her each other after arriving so far from two completely different areas.

Lee would raise himself up onto his toes, raising a free hand up to block the sun from his eyes and so that he might be able to see clearly. He would look around and it was then that he finally took notice of the one he was looking for. Makabe would appear from the forest a few yards from where he waited. She would turn to his direction and come to stop only a few feet from him. He would make sure not to get too close but he could feel the heat from where he was standing but it was bearable and he had come to enjoy it in his own way.

"Hey, making some progress on your time. I think you were a few minutes faster today." He would pause. "Or maybe I spent too long getting here." He would shake his head and focus back on her. "Are you ready to head out?"

The girl looked over at him, looking down to see his much weaker stature in terms of body build being skinny but tall. Looking up back directly at him as she closed her clawed hands, her arms hanging by her sides casually as she simply nodded and slowly walked beside him. Maka wasn’t really much of a talker especially since she had just got there for the meet up and she always needed to at least prepare her mind and body a bit before they made it deep into the city or at least the more open parts where her heat and the ability to melt anything easily as lava would most of the time randomly fall sometimes into puddles from the joints of her armored form.

Lee would smile as she would seemingly agree that moving forward would benefit them both if they didn't want to be late. She tended to keep to a quieter side of things when she first showed up so he usually took it upon himself to keep a conversation in the air and simply just keep the air between them constant. "So yeah, I've been really hitting the ground studying so if anything catches you off guard, I got your back." He would raise his hands up to let them rest behind his head as he his bag would dangle against his back. "Oh, and I finally got a new stove...well, by new I mean old. Like, really old but I think you'd love it!" He would smile brightly at the idea. "My parents feel bad for leaving me here while they are out on their trip but the stuff they are willing to buy definitely helps." He would pause for a moment before continuing. "I think I can move even make something you could eat and if not, it still looks pretty awesome."

The girl tilted her head, the human seemed like he was really nervous around her when he talked, which most of the time made things a bit hard and confusing for her but getting it at least most of the time. At least him being the only human she really knew, lee was doing pretty well for himself and it good that he was safe and happy. Maka just stayed quiet listening not knowing what to really say at all as a response before she started to walk past him toward the city.

Lee would catch the girl giving him a seemingly puzzled head tilt and to him, it was wonderful and adorable but he couldn't just outright say this so he would raise his hands to rub the sides of his face. "Hehehe, so yeah, that is a thing that's the highlight of my home life at the moment." He would reach up and take a few strands of his hair and would spin it around his finger to distract him. It was in the midst of his own world that he would notice that she had quickened her pace or maybe he was slowing her down, it was hard to tell but he would aim to usually just fill in the gaps himself. "So, you want to stop by someplace in the city? I'm not a hundred percent sure on what you could find but there is sure to be something if we look enough, I mean, it is what the city is for, right?"

β€œ living on the mountain is mostly boring, I really really am curious to things your able to do everyday. There has to be some fun in it with so many different things maybe...” replying as she continued to walk and made it already down the hill and toward the edge of the roads and buildings but of course letting him go so she could just follow then. β€œ hmmm...” corroding her arms as she waited wondering what she would even want to try first then.

Lee would aim to catch up to Makabe as she would state that she simply wanted to do something more with her time as she was usually bored in the mountain. It would then bring into his mind what she did inside the mountain and he could only image swimming but in molten hot magma but to her, it would be just like water. Though, he was about to continue his train of thought when she looked puzzled as to just what it was she would want to try. "Ummm, there is always the arcade. I know they just got a new Dance Dance Dance machine a week or so back and I haven't tried it out either."

β€œ well if that’s seems fun and something you want to maybe do then I guess that could work, but I can’t do anything with too much movement...” wondering if he knew that between the cracks there was the possibility of some lava spilling out as too much force with the cracks of her body could still allow the possibility of it. β€œ is there a way to play the other games though? Or are you covered with someone like me to not melt anything...”

Lee would kick himself for bringing up the game as she was not one to take fast movement for the safety of those around her, both alive and inanimate. He would try to laugh it off hesitantly as she would speak if there were other games and if she would even be able to play them without obvious problems. "I'm sure that the government covers you under the M.H.S.A and I'm sure that I can afford if something breaks. I've been saving for quite awhile now so you can go wild." This was true to a degree as he had saved up a small fortune but ever since Makabe came into his life, there were times that accidents happened and felt that if he ever wanted to make her happy, keeping anything money related before the M.H.S.A. was ironed out was something he could take on. He lived a mediocre life and saved every dime he received from his parents.

β€œ she frowned, I’m gonna feel bad though if you have to be forced like to pay for something like that...I don’t want to cause enough trouble I already might have given you. It must be hard hanging out with someone like me who is made of something so easily destructive even if I never intended to do it..I bet you’ll eventually not want to hang out...” frowning with a bit of worry that she was a bit of a huge liability to him than anything right now. And hardening my claws won’t work to press buttons or anything safely because then I can’t move them at all without breaking them and reforming it with the magma I have in my body..”

Lee would quickly begin to panic as she began to feel bad over the entire situation. He should have just kept his stupid mouth shut and just worried about the things when the time came. "N-no, no! You aren't forcing anything on me, it is okay, really!" He would wave his hands frantically in front of himself as he would continue. "You haven't ever been any trouble to me Makabe! I always look forward to you coming down, ever since we were kids. You're amazing! You know awesome you are?! I wish I could be as warm as you are." He would lower his arms, interlocking his fingers together behind himself. "We could find something that you can play, like the claw machine. It doesn't take too much effort and it's still really fun and that is all I really care about."

β€œ I...guess...” still not feeling a bit better for now knowing that he mostly did that only to make sure that things didn’t go bad between them with the fact they didn’t even really do anything at all yet. β€œ where can we go then if you know any place...” deciding to leave everything to him as she knew very little about how to really act in front of other people besides observing and trying not to touch anything if she could unless she would literally trade some fingers to hold something without burning it though having to shed it and use the lava in her body to reform the parts a few times then.

Lee would continue to kick himself for throwing the once cheerful mood onto the ground but he could still save it if he really tried. He would snap his fingers and then reach around and take ahold of his backpack and unzip it while speaking. "I ordered a couple of these and I'm not entirely sure how it would work with prolonged use but it never hurts to try." He would pull out a pair of light brown gloves and show them to her. "These are actually really easy to get if you get them in bulk. They are made with..." He would pause and flip one of the gloves over to read the details on the tab aloud. "Heat-resistant gloves. Highly texturized fiberglass, two thousand fahrenheit." He would then look to her and take a step back and hold the glove down as if to see if they would fit and would nod in agreement. "I've read that they can stand direct contact with lava for a little under half a minute. But you won't have to completely solidify your hands so you can still move but if you do it just enough, we should be able to get more outta them."

Again she looked puzzled still at the strange gloves, β€œ I wonder if those are made just for my kind...and nothing really takes half a minute unless you have a plan or something to make them last longer..” now crossing his arms and expecting him to know then about how his idea would still work with the mostly various flaws. The only thing that’s bad is that they won’t hold for a long time unless like I just said you have a plan or something...” seeing also another thing about most games like the claw needing even a bit more than half a minute of concentration tion to have a full chance of at least trying to get something.

Lee paused as she brought up that there was nothing that they could do for half a minute and he would stare blankly at first and he would shake his head. "Oh, but that is where you're wrong. Because so long as you..." He would move the gloves under his arm and wiggle the backpack around with his other hand and stifling through it and pulled out a spray can. He would crouch down and shake the can and hold open the glove and spray inside as he would continue speaking. "This is supposed to stop any fires from starting inside and with that and the gloves, it should last a lot longer than normal. And I got another couple of gloves and one more can so you should be able to play something for..." He would pause and then look at the glove and then to her and then back to the glove. "...I'm not sure. Haven't really gotten to a playtest phase. I've been using the stove we got to try different things to try and see just what all I could make."

she was confused a bit on the last part about the whole but at least got what he kind of said then, β€œ the spray strengthens the heat resistant part for a little while. β€œ but I can’t even really wear the gloves completely because my the top part of my hand has armor so the lower is fine but yeah...” shrugging with a sigh, β€œ and you should speak a bit clearer too you know...”

Makabe would speak of the size of her hands and that fitting them into the gloves would be problematic as there was only so much that could fit. Lee would look down at the gloves and then back to her hands and then back to the gloves. He would turn and look into his backpack and listen as she told him that he should be clearer when he brought these kinda things up to which he would laugh hesitantly while still sifting through the bag. "Yeah, it's a quirk that tends to get me in more trouble than you would think. Ah Ha!" He would pull out a razor blade and pop the gloves onto their sides and would make a small cut toward the top and after a few moments, he would hold them up. "There, you should be able to at least be able to wear them without having to worry about them falling off. It should be able to snag on your armored bits. Theoretically."

β€œ but you still have that hole and it might burn it faster from the outside edges then unless your gonna cover the whole glove itself to have that long lasting stuff...well let’s go then I don’t know where anything is so...” waiting a bit as maka would follow him in and not care about the people around her.

"I wouldn't call it an hole persay, more of a dissection. The spray should be thick enough to coat the parts that need it." He would simply push the word around trying to make the overall sound be less...negative. But they had a plan of attack and he would pull himself off the ground and put away the extra gloves and the canister and zip up his pack. They were getting the occasional look from a passerby, mainly individuals making their way to the opposite side of the street.

Lee would follow the sidewalk and pay little attention to these people lest they say something. He would, however, glance back to make sure Makabe was keeping in stride or that he himself was not being too slow. It did not take them long to arrive at the technicolor arcade with many different vending machines ranging from bouncy balls to keychains but just in the opening were several claw machines which held an array of things, the most common being stuffed animals, random doodads, and candy. Lee would run inside and place his hands against the glass, looking inside at each stuffed animal that he thought could be attained.

She again gave him the same confused look, the human whom she knew as a kid did grow up a bit weirder than she had expected. Of course maka really like the caring help he always gave her when she needed it but it was weird to see that they were opposites especially with the fact that he should be too familiar to not be overly excited compared to her. Makabe sighed seeing the tables have turned for now as she walked off into the main area of the arcade keeping a bit of distance so the heat from her body wouldn’t melt the machines or her accidentally bumping into something and melting it as well completely and from the more intense heat of her body from the direct contact.

Lee would slowly start to pull himself away from the items and prizes to look back to Makabe with a hesitant smile. This was mainly for her to enjoy and he would cough and clear his throat. She would walk into the arcade and Lee would follow after her, seeing if something would catch her eye. "Do you see anything that you might wanna try out? I'm sure there is something around here that you could play without having to worry to much when the gloves go on. Most of the games doesn't really need too much touching besides your hands."
