Many years ago, in the once peaceful kingdom of Addreah, the noble King Finnogh grew fearful that he would never have an heir to carry on his lineage. And so he implored a powerful sorceress with the ability to see into the future to foresee if he and his wife would ever conceive an heir. To the king's great relief the sorceress had a vision of a baby boy being born to the royal family.

The king was so relieved and elated to hear the news he rewarded the sorceress with a position as his court Sorceress. Many years passed and the sorceress' prediction came true and the king and queen were blessed with a baby boy. The sorceress was blessed herself with a child, a little girl.

As they grew, the sorceress's daughter and the king's son became great friends, and as it happens, friendship turned into something more. One day, when the two were in their teens, the sorceress had a vision of their love and eventually a marriage between the couple
Although the king respected the sorceress he would not stand for the royal bloodline being muddled by the common blood of the sorceress' family.

Fearing the blossoming love between his son and the sorceress' daughter, he forced the sorceress to enchant her daughter so that she would never gain her mother's gift of precognition. So the sorceress cast a spell upon a cloth and tied it around the young girls eyes to while she slept. As long as the cloth was placed over the girl's eyes each night, her visions of the future would be negated. Still not willing to take any chances, the king forced the sorceress to magical bind herself in an oath to never speak of what she saw and to continue to block the girl's visions.

Still not relieved the king imprisoned the girl and her mother in the dungeon. As the years passed the king and queen forgot about the sorceress and her child. So there they remained together for many years, each night the sorceress bound her daughter's eyes, compelled by her oath, until the sorceress having grown sick died. Leaving the girl alone in darkness.

RE: End of a Tyrant

Alaina sat on the ground in the corner of her dungeon cell. He hands bound in chains in front of her. The chains had been placed there so long she hardly remembered what it felt like not have the cool metal rubbing against her fleash. As she sat there on the ground her extremely sensitive hearing could hear other prisoners muttering ever so softly in their cells, she heard a mouse scurrying around on the floor in the next cell. But today she heard something she never heard before, the sound of foot steps, not of her normal guards no, these were different. She heard the fussing outside the door of two men talking. One of course was her guard the other he sounded more noble, he was the demanding to know about the girl in the cell. When the gaurd didn’t know who she was or why she was in the cell the man grew angry “Fine you useless idiot take her out of the cell and we will bring her before the king”

Alaina’s head snapped after hearing that. And suddenly her door was ripped open. She was begging grabbed by her chains out f her cell. She stumbled as she was forced to walk a path she couldn’t see do to the bidding covering her eyes that the gaurd dare not remove as he knew not why it was there. She was forced to climb steps quickly and sped through the hall. Until she was suddenly jerked to a stop. She stood shaking not knowing where she was or why she was brought there. She had no shoes and the floor beneath her feet fleet smooth. The she heard a voice again.
“Sire, it was brought to my attention that this girls has been in the dungeon for several years, placed their by your father however no one knows who she is, or what crime had lead her to placed there. At this time Sire I ask you what we should with the girl”

within the throne room many servants busy doing their tasks not paying attention to what was going on in the room except for one. A young elf watched the guards drag the prisoner into the throne room as he pretended to be fully engrossed in the cleaning of a tattered tapestry. His violet eyes never leaving the poor girl in rags as she was forced to stand before the new king.

The king looked down from his throne and scoffed at the pathetic wretch brought before him. "what do I care about the wretched thing, leave it in the dungeon to rot for all I care," he said in a haughty tone and waved the girl off dismissively. The guard made to protest but a stern look from the king and he bowed and walked out taking the girl back to her cell.

Later that night a cloaked figure silently made his way down to the dungeons. A black cloak masked his movements in the dark shadows. The man paused as a guard shifted and moved towards his hiding place. "Who goes there?" the guard shouted making to grab a torch. "codlata!" the cloaked man said blowing a blue powder into the face of the guard who fell to the ground in a deep slumber. Only then did the man step into the light and removed the keys from the guard's belt and set about searching the cells for the girl. Finally finding the right cell, The man opened the door and walked up to the girl and removed her blindfold. "Easy, easy I'm here to get you out," he said in a calm tone then waved his hand over he manacles "díghlasáil!" he said and the manacles snapped open.

Alaina whimpered as she heard the kings voice she wasn’t completely sure, but she knew that voice, It was not the voice of the old king who had locked her away, his voice sounded younger. It wasnt until the guards began dragging her back to her cell that the thought finally hit her, it was her dear friend the one she was removed from long ago, he was a prince then but now his father must have been dead. When she figured it out to pleaded with the gaurd to be taken back to the king but it fell on deaf ears and she was thrown away again int the cell her.

She sat there crying for several hours until she heard footsteps again that didn’t belong to anyone she was use to hearing. And then who ever this person was burst through her cell door and removed her chains and blindfold. Her eyes open but quickly as to long in the dark has cause even the simple torch light to be blinding. “Who are you, what do you want from me,?” She was clearly afraid as she has known nothing but pain since was put in this cell.

"I'm Kaleb Drem, I'm here to rescue you, dall a radharc," he said placing his hand on the girl's eyes. "this will temporarily blind you to protect your eyes, at least until I can get you back to camp, and a more powerful healer," he said and helped the girl to her feet, "now hold tight." Slowly The pair made their way through the dark shadows. Their progress was slow, Kaleb didn't want to rush the girl as she wouldn't have been used to moving at any great speed. As they reached the courtyard of the castle, Kaleb paused to make sure the cost was clear. Suddenly the warning bells rang out and Kaleb cursed as guards began to rush through the castle. Picking the girl up he rushed her to the castle walls and up on to the ramparts, the castle guard close behind. Kaleb whistled as he drew his sword and fought back the gaurds. A mighty roar boomed from the night sky as the woosh of massive wing cut the air. "Brax take her, get her to the camp," Kaleb shouted as he slashed a guard across the chest. A large dragon swooped down and gently grabbed the girl before circling back out of reach of the archers that had gathered to shoot it down. The beast looked back at the castle in time to see his friend cut down by the guards that surrounded him. With a sorrowful bellow the dragon sped off into the night.

As day broke, the dragon landed in a clearing within the thick Shambling Woods, a dark and dangerous place for those who didn't know their way. Breathing heavily the dragon lay in the grass his body curled around his precious cargo, the young girl. Soon other beings emerged from surrounding woods, and quickly the girl was taken to a tent and a warm comfortable rest, while an elderly she-elf prepared a poultice for her eyes.

RE: End of a Tyrant

Just as suddenly as he arrived they were off moving out of her cell. With his magic protecting her eyes she was not sure what exactly was going on however with her great sense of hearing she was able to piece together what was going on. And suddenly just like that she was in the night sky on a dragons back. She plead with the great beast to let her down she needed to go back but it continued on.

Once she was finally whisked inside the tent she had enough of being pulled in all direction. “Stop!” She said in a powerful tone one she didn’t even know she had. “Just Stp[!” She had as she stood up as she did her fear and frustration channeled through her body sending a power shock way through the ground knocking the she-elf off her feet. He powers have layed dormant for so long she had to learn to control them again. “I want to know what’s going on right now!”

RE: End of a Tyrant

the elderly elf chuckled as she got to her feet, "relax child you are safe, I am Madam Sorina," she said in a quiet tone, "rest now and let me see to your eyes. I will answer all your questions, but first lay back," she said as she spread some paste onto a cloth, "close your eyes and allow the herbs to do their work," she instructed as she placed the cloth over the girls eyes. "Now slowly, one question at a time," Madam Sorina said as she sat next to the girl.

RE: End of a Tyrant

Alaina was still frustrated, she didn’t like to be told to relax, she had been through hell and now she was taken captive again, moved around like chess piece. She felt the cloth on her eyes again she was afraid it would be tied around her eyes again. But it wasnt tied around her eyes, it was just resting there and she hoped she would have the freedom to remove it if she wanted it. When the elf said to ask one question at time she knew she only had one question to ask “What do you want with me”

the old elf woman chuckled again, "our spies in the castle sent word of a girl locked in the dungeon that even the king didn't know about. But I am very old, and I remember a powerful sorceress within the royal household, and she had a daughter." the elf said slowly, "We don't want anything from you, all we want is for you to be free. I am just sorry we could save your mother as well," he added in a saddened tone. "Once your eyes have been healed you will be free to come and go as you please, we will not trade one prison for another,"

Alaina was in complete shock at the woman’s words. She was free, and that all she had been longing for. “I am sorry for my behavior earlier, I have been held against my will for so long, it was hard for me to imagine anyone helping me.” She sighed softly. “How far are we away from the castle, I need to return there as soon as my eyes are healed. I need to see the king” In truth her heart ached to see the king, he was her most dearest friend in the world, she had to see him again, at any cost.

“We are in the heart of the Shifting Woods, it would be many days walk to the castle. Bit why would you want to return to the ones that imprisoned you? King Aiden is not known for his forgiveness,” the elderly elf said. “You would just end up back in the dungeon should you return to the castle.” She added

Alaina was shocked to hear the king is not known for his forgiveness, “wait what do you mean? Aiden was the kindest soul I ever knew, he was my dear friend that is why I must return.” She explained, but there something else, on the day they were separated by the king and she was locked away in the dungeon, they had told each other they loved each other, and that one day they would be together. That is what had kept he going all this time, she hoped to one day see him again. Even if he didn’t love her any more she needed to see him again.

“Then you must have known him a long time ago, before the great tragedy.” The old woman said with a heavy sigh. “It seems many years ago the king was in love, but his betrothed vanished without a trace sending the king into deep despair. Then while the grief of his lost love was still fresh, the queen mother was struck down by a terrible illness. Unable to stand the grief, the young prince sort out the aid of a dark warlock to remove his grief. The warlock did just that, by removing the prince’s heart taking all his pain and sorrow with it, but also removed his caring, compassion and love.”

“And since then he’s been nothing but a vain, greedy and selfish man,” boomed the voice of a large male that entered the tent. He stood nearly 7 feet tall and his skin was covered in dark green scales. A thick pair of horn sprouted from his head and a tail trailed behind him, even despite this he still had an attractive face.

“Hush now Brax,” the old woman said in a harsh tone.

“No she should know, the king is an unfeeling beast that takes what he wants. Those who can’t pay are imprisoned or enslaved, those that refuse are executed. Many of us here have lost loved ones to his greed. Some even lost their entire people,” the last part was said with a deep tone of sorrow.

She didn’t know what to say by the tale that was just told her her hand came up to cover her mouth stifling a soft cry. “This cant be true.” She said stumbling back sitting on the cot “It just cant be.” Her heart now hurt her so deeply, she hunched over from the physical pain of it. the pain radiated throw her body sinking down into her very core. She couldn’t breath she was gasping from air. She crawled at the cloth covering her eyes ripping it from her face. Her eyes open and they were black as night.

The earth now shook. The items in the tent now falling to the ground. The earth below their feet felt as if it would open any moment and swallow them up. Alaina gasp for breath one last time then shoot to her feet. As she did a warm radiant light echoed off her body, and with a blast like lighting, it was gone. Alaina stood there breathing normally. Her eyes closed and open again. When they did her eyes were vibrant purple but they sparkled.

The pain she felt for her beloved unlocked her powers, powers she needed now to save him. she looked at the She-elf and Brad her both visibly shaken but what had just happen. “I need to go to the castle now, I need to help Aiden.”

Brax scoffed, "and what, plead to his better nature1? Not a chance I am not taking you back there! Especially after rescuing you cost me my cost me the last thing I considered family!" he said with a low growl rumbling in his throat, "and no amount of magical tantrums will change my mind." Madam Sorina, unlike Brax, was visibly shaken by the power the girl had displayed.

"Brax don't antagonize her, she has been through a lot," the old elf said and eased the girl back on to the cot, "now just rest child, nothing is to be done tonight," she added in a soothing tone, "just ignore Brax, he is just an old grump. Besides if the stories are true and the king does not have a heart, nothing will move him, you would just wind up getting in trouble." she added trying to be the voice of reason.

She looked at Brax, “I am sorry for what happen to your friend, If there was away to change it I would.” She felt sad that by saving her life it had cost the elf his life. As she sat on the cot she looked at Madam Sorina, “I don’t think Aidens heart was taken. If that was the case he wouldn’t have any emotions, he would just be a shell, but if he is cruel I think his heart was darken.” She looked down. “I can fix that, but I worry the warlock will return once he figures out Aiden’s heart is restoried. The warlock has been most likely feeding off his pain, and once the warlock figures out Aiden is no longer dark he will come after him.” Her mind was already racing on how she was going to set Aiden’s heart free.

"Seems you have a very strong grasp on the ways of magic," Madam Sorina said "and you are most likely right. If the warlock still lives, then he must be dealt with before we can help the king. Otherwise the king will never be freed," she added but we will talk more about this in the morning, for now you still need to rest," The old elf said and left, ushering the large male with her effortlessly. Brax left the tent, a sour look on his face. Once outside he remained near by in order to keep an eye on the girl, not trusting that she wouldn't try to return to her precious king while the camp slept.

Alaina didn’t like being told to rest even though she knew it was good for her. She needed to get to Aiden, she knew she could break the curse even without stopping the warlock but she knew the warlock would be back. She saw Brax’s outline outside her tent and knew he wouldn’t let her leave. She sat on the cot closing her eyes focusing one thought her beloved. She breathed softly and focused she wanted to connect her mind with his, “Aiden can you hear me...it’s Alaina please I am not dead I will be returning to you soon, please don’t be afraid this is not a dream” she kept her focusing as long as she could hoping her powers were strong enough to reach him.

Brax stayed close by the tent all night, dozing here and there as he watched for any sign that the girl was trying to leave. Meanwhile Madam Sorina spent the night pouring over her ancient books and consulting the spirits of the past to see what truth there was in the story of the king’s heart and what could be done to break any such curse.

Alaina felt so defeated when she heard no response back. She knew she couldn’t wait to see him any longer. She rose from her cot peering outside her tent, Brax was still there. She had to think a moment. She drew a breath and walked outside the tent she was full of confidence as she walked past Brax as if not paying him any mind. She just kept walking, heading out the encampment. Even though she walked with confidence her heart raised in her chest trying to think of plan if she was stopped. Even though they said she was not the prisoner, she was worried what Brax might do. He clearly did not like her.

Brax watched the girl leave her tent, “been nice knowing you if you plan on walking out of camp, they don’t call it the shifting woods for nothing little lady,” he said with a chuckle as he dug at some dirt under his claw-like nail with a small knife

He didn’t stop her, which caused her to stop. She turned her head looking over her shoulder at Brax, she smiled at him gently. “Thank you Brax, I will be fine.” Her eyes glisten with her power. Then she turned and headed out of camp. Her powers felt clear to her, she knew why too because she was going to use them to save her one true love. She smiled to herself as she felt her magic coursing through her veins. She hadn’t felt like this since the first time she felt magic. And the feel grew stronger as she moved in the direction of the castle.

It wasn’t long before she came across a spring flowing through the woods. It reminded her of the spring that her and Aiden would play in when they were children. That spring was right outside the castle walls. And when that realization hit her she knew what she was going to do. She walked out into the freezing waters, it sent a chill down her spine. She wanted to try to send one more message to him “Aiden go to the spring, go to the spring that will played in as children wait for me there” she didn’t know if it would fail like the last message but she had to try.

With a huge surge of magic, the water from the spring enveloped her, freezing her as it wrapped it self around her. And with a great splash she was gone. She was transported through the cold to the spring by the castle. The water there rose as it was a giant egg, and as it splashed back to earth, she was left standing in the spring by the castle wall.

At the castle the king at the gates, he stared at a dry river bed, he didn't know why he was there but something within in him said to go. The small creek had been dry for years, the large dam of the castle new cistern had seen to that, the king remembered when he used to bath in it's waters but the spell on him removed all memory of the girl he played with. But still something called to him. Suddenly the king was snapped out of his thought as a light flickered and a great surge of water spouted from the ground, a young maiden left in it's wake. "Guardsmen to the King!" shouted a voice and a dozen or more men rushed to the king's side, sword and spears at the ready.

Alaina drew a deep breath as she As the water around her settled in the dry beds. She moved the castle gates that she once so long ago passed through freely. But she stopped in her tracks, there standing at the gate was Aiden, she was completely in shock she just started at him, he was now a grown man a little older than she was. He was so handsome now. She wanted to run right towards him. But was stopped in her tracks by the guards now surrounding the King. “Aiden, please, its me, its Alaina.” Her voice gentle as it was when they were children together.

The king stepped closer to the maiden. “Careful sire she’s a witch” the captain of the guard advised. The king waved him off and looked at the girl closer.

“Yes I do know you,” he said as his face suddenly went dark, “you were the prisoner who escaped, guards seize her!” He commanded and the guards advanced on the the young woman. The guards circled around her as and prepared to capture her. “Not very wise girly, escaping only to give yourself up to us,” one of the guards said as he grabbed a pain of manacles from his belt.
