Maddysin took a deep breath before unlocking the door and flipping the sign in the window so the side reading “open” was facing outward, along with a “help wanted” sign. She had recently moved to Beach City and had also opened a pet store/vets office that she named “Coastal Vets & Pets”.

Her brown hair was cut into a pixie cut and she wore thick rimmed glasses that were styled to look like nerd chiche. She wore a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, apron, and ballet flats. Her makeup was flawless with her lips being a deep, matte red.
 
Diego Vendrix did not expect what to do when he moved to Beach City. He was a young man having just graduated out of college. Now he was 21 and he didn't know what to do. He moved to Beach City for potential opportunity at the suggestion of a friend and given he still had some money left over, he ended up buying a place. He was a filmmaker by trade and having gone through an accelerated program allowed him to graudate with honors early.

He figured he could do some fun small town stuff while he was here in Beach City.

He didn't expect to meet quasi-women with Crystals on them that were part of a war to defend the Earth. But that is how Diego got aquainted with Steven Universe and the Crystal Gems. Steven was more than happyto be his assistant in his projects and he liked the Gems, viewing them as the sisters he never had, though Pearl was the one who accompanied Steven the most.

Today, he was on a walk with Amethyst and Steven on the newer side of town. "I can't believe Beach City is growing fast," Diego said as he was walking around for the morning. One thing up ahead was a veterinarian, which was definitely new.

"Yeah, alot of these buildings are actually new," Amethyst noted.

"Hey there's a vet. Maybe we can something for this little guy," Steven said to them, as he was holding Cat Steven in his hands. The strange trio of Diego, Steven and Amethyst stepped into the vet. "Yeah this is new, everything looks well-built," Diego noted while Amethyst was looking around. "Yeah and she looks new too," Amethyst noted as he saw a woman with a pixie cut and thick glasses.
 
“Hello.” Maddysin said with a smile as she stood behind the counter. “How may I help you?”

Against a wall were what appeared to be cabinets that had doors that had been partially replaced with glass which contained various reptiles and amphibians. There were also several elaborate looking aquariums containing several types of brightly colored fish, along with a small koi pond. Towards the middle of the room were a bunch of cages containing smaller pets like mice, rats, hamster, and guinea pigs. While the back wall was broken up into two large display cases that had a play area attached to it with one half containing cats and kittens and the other holding dogs and puppies. On the half of the room that was by the dogs and puppies were shelves containing products.
 
"Hi, welcome to Beach City!" Steven told Maddysin as she welcomed them inside. Diego took a moment to look around at the pet store and everything else in the place. "This is surprisingly new. It seemed a little while ago it was just wood," he saidd.

"We're here because we're looking for some stuff for a cat," Amethyst said with a chill smile while Steven showed off Cat Steven.
 
“Hello, and thank you. Yeah it was kinda a pain to build and pretty expensive but I was happy when I was told it was done.” Maddysin replied. She had only been in Beach City for less than a week but hadn’t really ventured out aside from going from her apartment to the shop and back. She did order pizza. “Any idea how old the cat is?” She looked at the small cat.
 
"Umm... I don't know. How old is Cat Steven, Steven?" Amethyst asked Steven and Diego. Thw two shrugged their shoulders. " I don't know, but he looks like he's not full-grown," Steven said as he was holding his cat. "I'm surprised you haven't tried patching up the eye," Diego noted, recallng how Steven healed Diego out.
 
“I’ll take a look.” Maddysin said holding her hands out to take the cat. Once she had the cat in her hands mac she began giving the animal a basic exam. “Well I can tell you that this is little guy is a little girl.” She checked the cat’s nose, ears, mouth, and eyes. “There’s definitely no fixing that eye coz there isn’t one. When she’s fully grown, you could have a glass one made but it won’t allow her to see so it’d just be cosmetic. And I’ll prescribe some meds to get rid of any internal parasites she may have which is a big problem in the stray community. I also have special shampoo for external parasite, she doesn’t appear to have any live bugs but she could still have eggs, but better safe than sorry. She appeares to be about six weeks old so I would suggest a kitten food and giving her a special kitten milk at least once a day for the next five weeks. Normally it would be until she was 10 weeks old but I assume you don’t know how long she was without mother’s milk, so an extra week could only help her. She will need to be spayed to prevent pregnancy which I could do at anytime but I’d prefer to wait so I know she’s got a clean bill of health and that she’d recover normally. If I don’t feel comfortable doing that before she’s four months old, you will need to keep her inside because once she gets to that age she can become pregnant.” She handed the cat back to Steven. “I have formula, bottles, shampoo, and meds for free but you will have to buy the kitten food.”
 
"Well, we know Cat Steven is a girl, given she's a calico," Diego noted before he turned to Steven. He was wondering why he didn't try to heal hereye with his magic spit and or tears. He was also the one writing at everything so they could buy anything and such.

"COOL! Thanks so much," Steven said as he began carrying the stuff needed for the kitten. "Thanks, and welcome to Beach City. It's a wonderfully weird town here," Diego told her as he put away the notes and paid for the kitten food. "Yeah, it's a crazy place here," Amethyst said with a smile, taking a look at Maddy.
 
“Yeah but crazy can be awesome.” Maddysin replied with a smile handing Diego his receipt. She also got more receipt paper and wrote down her name and number. “If you have any questions feel free to call or text.” She said this is slightly flirty way while looking at Amethyst.
 
Amethyst just smirked back at Maddysin though it seemed like she really didn't understand it wholly. Or at least, that's what she looked like. Diego noted that even after having befriended the Gems, it was difficult for him to understand them sometimes.

"Well, thank you very much! Welcome to Beach City!" Steven responded to Maddysin with a smile on her face.

"You'll be seeing alot of us here," Amethyst noted before Diego nudged her shoulder, reminding her of something. "Oh yeah, did the mayor tell you about us?" she asked.
 
“No but I’m sure you’ll fill me in.” Maddysin said. She hadn’t really talked to the mayor yet, she had stopped in to welcome Maddysin but that was about it, and she hadn’t gone out to explore much.
 
"Well, uh... how about you meet us on the beach later after you finish work so we can share everything with you?" Amethyst told her with a smile of her own.

"It's a really nice town and it's definitely unique!" Diego told Maddysin with a smile before the gorup began heading back to Steven's house with all the stuff they got for the little kitty,
 
The rest of the day was uneventful with only one other customer coming in, a boy buying feeder rats for a snake. When it came time to close the shop, Maddysin locked the door and turned the sign back to its “Closed” side.

She took a few minutes to change into her swim suit before she headed to the beach. Her swim suit was a two piece styled to resemble those of the 1950s. The bottoms were a deep blue and ended above her belly button while the top was black with white polka dots and the straps were the same color blue as the bottoms. She also had a pair of oversized blue sunglasses on and a sunhat on to complete the look.

Steven was resting on the beach, dancing with Connie while the Germs were looking out at the beach and Diego was resting on a towel, taking a nap. It was a very good day to say the least for them. "Hey look!" Steven shouted as he pointed out. "It's the new girl!" Steven, with Diego and Amethyst turning to see, with Steven waving to get her attention.
 
Maddysin waved back at Steven before making her way over to that group. Thanks to Maddysin wearing a bathing suit it was easier to see her body, which was thicker but also very curvy and her legs were long and hairless.
 
"How have you been?" Steven asked her with a smile. "How are you enjoying Beach City so far?" Diego told Maddysin while Amethyst smiled at seeing her. "Yeah, you enjoying the place?" Amethyst asked her with her classical laidback smile.
 
Maddysin pulled a beach chair out of her bag and placed it down. “So far I am but ask me that again when it starts snowing.” She said with a chuckle. “I haven’t seen snow since I was 2.”
 
"Yeah it does actually snow here. Makes sense since we're north up here. So, you come here to chill with us?" Amethyst asked her with a smile while Garnet and Pearl were looking at the group with interest. "Or you just wanan relax on your own?" Steven asked her.
 
"Well what do you wanna know?" Amethust asked as he laid beside the fascinating new human friend they had.

"Yeah, we got all sorts of interesting stuff. We got Funland, we have alot of nice food places and the new mayor works on making new stuff," Steven tells her with a smile.

"Well, do you wanna know about the food or the people?" Steven asked her as he offered a sandwich for Maddysin to try. "Or do you wanna know about the Crystal Gems?" Diego said as he turned to Maddysin.
 
Diego then turned to Steven and Steven took a breath. Over the next half-hour, Steven began explaing to Maddysin everything about the Gems, minus some of the biggest more personal stuff, with some of the other Gems piping in to add their own bit of information or correction. After he finished, they gave Maddysin a bit of time to take in everything.
 
“That’s... interesting to say the least.” Maddysin said after disgusting everything that was said. She probably wouldn’t have believed had it not been for the fact that Amethyst had purple skin. She knew there were certain medical conditions that could lead to a human developing blue skin, but not purple.
