I figured I'd elaborate more on the main idea I've been trying to find here on Blue Moon.

The world is changing in the wake of a powerful man bragging about how his position and status allows him to do as he will in the office of the most powerful position in the free world.
But clearly this is not a society a cadre of gentlemen want.
This secret society will do anything to preserve secrets and maintain the status quo. It's worked for some and benefited them to great lengths over the years of this secret society known as (insert a groan of non-surprise here) The Patriarchy. The wheels are starting to spin for their new plan to keep the wheel turning in their favor the way they want.
- Discredit the accusers until the truth looks like a lie.
- Corrupt and sway some of the most influential women in movies, music, and television to embrace the old cultural norm.
- "Reeducate" the whistle blowers until they accept reality as it once was. Turn #MeToo into #MePlease.
- Punish the whistle blowers, once reeducated, by moving their career paths into something a little more pleasing to the men they once tried to humiliate and take down. Provocative photo shoots and soft core porn sounds about right.
2) (thanks to celebritease for this) Hollywood isn't that much different than the one we know and love. Celebrity is still manufactured and celebrated. There's just one difference: studios, agents, and producers now have an incredible amount of legal agency over their clients. What this has lead to is a world where a starlet who is no longer bringing in the big dollars or has had her hit money-train TV show abruptly cancelled can now be liquidated by her handlers.
That's right, no more bank account, no more fancy house, no more trips to Rodeo drive for a shopping spree.
It would almost be cruel to send a formerly famous girl out into the world from riches to rags, but luckily, the actress herself is an important part of the studio's recoupment plan. The star will still get to a good home, it's just going to have to be on her knees when the studio sells her to the highest bidder, lock, stock and barrel.
And who bought her? The newest publisher of Playboy. Taking over the magazine after the death of Hugh Hefner, the publisher wants to bring back the magazine's golden age, returning nudity and even the club lifestyle to the world.
