The head guards true role //Kratos//CrystalFox//

She nodded falling back into the roll of a mute squire her horse cantaring along with his. Lana was worried now and it showed by the frown on her lips everything was happening far to quickly for this to have been an outside ordeal. The Princess was beginning to expect that someone inside the castle had been helping the invadors. However being royalty and inexperianced in manners of warfare she said nothing on the matter.

The two road silently side by side the sound of the wind the only noise she could make out along with the sound of the horses hoofs. So far this once bustling trade route was oddly empty which meant the next town may have been taken by the opposing side already. How they were going to get through it without one or both of them being captured if that was the case she had no idea.

Shaking her head softly she sighed and reached into the satchel pulling our a chunk of dried meat and handing it to her companion. "We need to eat something." she mumbled softly "Even if it's unsafe to stop."

It was quite impressive how easily the Princess seemed to be taking the disguise that was her only way of remaining safe, of which although the guard Seth would do anything to protect her.. it was just an extra precaution. It was a bit odd that this trade route was so quite, of which each step from a hoof could be heard.

A small sigh left the guard before his eyes turned towards Lana hearing her speak. His hand accepted the dried meat before he spoke "I think we might actually want to leave this trade route and find a place to ride away from here.. it's to quite, and it will start to lead us the wrong way.."

Truth was the town that was coming up possibly was taken as well, and if someone inside the castle had helped the attack they would know that the Princess would try to come this way to either safety or cutting through the next down for supplies before going toward the safehouse that was probably not safe anymore "We will need to detour somewhere... and hope we end up in the right place.. as I don't like the look of this.." he took a bite of the meat chewing on it for a moment, it was not much but it was going to have to do.

"I'm sure there are game trails we can follow to go around the town." she commented as she looked on either side of the road for some sort of trail. "After all hunters follow those all the time to avoid high populated areas were game is scarce due to villagers hunting. It might take us through the mountains though. So it would be wise to be careful." she paused then taking a bite of her own dried meat with some difficulty frowning at the bland taste. How on earth did commeners stand this food?

She looked around more and frowned, in less then 24 hours whoever claimed control to her kingdom was taking control faster then one should. Would the peasents revolt when they found out and try to over throw the new king? Or would they just accept it knowing if they faught they'd perish? Without realizing it tears had welled in her eyes, ones which she quickly wiped away hoping he didn't notice.

"There it looks like a path some animal travelled recently." she pointed to the narrow trails of flattened grass. "Should we try to follow it?" she just hoped it didn't dead end like so many tended to do to full preditors or toss them off a cliff.

He held back a laugh noticing the Princess try to take a bite of the dried meat, although it was only expected that one with noble taste would find it quite.. well bland and it was obvious from the look on her face it was exactly what she was thinking. In fact it was a surprise commoners never seemed to complain but there taste buds were used to it, so to them it was simply food and cheap at that. For now thought it would have to do as it was all they had that would not require stopping and cooking which would possibly draw attention to there location.

Which considering they were the only ones that seemed to be around.. such a thing would not be advisable since they had to be searching for Lana, and since who ever had done this seemed to have already in such a short time taken over such a large space, well it was risky even just being on such a deserted location. Sure the disguise was good but if someone looked well enough her royal birthmark that was mainly hidden sometimes revealed itself.

"We will do such a thing,.. I do not feel comfortable on this road anymore Lana.." it had been the first time the guard had managed to say her name without hesitation getting used to the fact that he would probably never call her Princess again,.. except maybe here and there and that more then likely being by accident.
