LORETech ((Lucid and Puzz))

Kalin listened intently to the tale, chuckling softly at the bit about leaving her mark on people. She smiled warmly, "I get around a bit." Her gaze grew nostalgic as she thought of her younger days. Leaping about rooftops, gathering a few pennies so she could buy herself a meal. Good times, fun times. Now it was more about alluring foolish young women and stealing their purses when they weren't looking. She laughed lightly, the sound clear as bells.
"You'd be surprised at how many people fall for that one." She smirked. Then their conversation was soon halted, though, by a sudden tremor. Kalin shot up from her chair and followed Summer to the window, "Should I shoot them?" She asked.

"Yes, Demolish!" He snapped at her comment, "And if she is his daughter, she'll survive." He growled. Norm stepped aside and gestured for the truck to drive into the house. He waited for the driver to follow orders.

"If they get through the attic door, then you can," She said as she went and grabbed the large plasma saw from the wall. It was nearly as big as her. It wouldn't stop any bullets but it would quickly tear apart anyone who got too close to her once it was started up. She put just inside the door of the small room. "You keep your eye on the door, I'll keep my eye out to see if any head in,"she said as she gently pushed the window open a crack, pointing the gun though the opening.

"Ye...Yes sir," she said as she went over and instructed the driver. She seemed to be yelling at him but he nodded furiously shortly and started up the engine, backing up to ram the building at full speed. Elizabeth walked back over to Norm. "Taken care of, Sir," she said as she turned to watch, the soldiers moving away from the building and to a safer distance as the vehicle started to charge at the building.

Her eyes went wide. "GET DOWN," she yelled as she pulled the mattress off the bed and pulled the strange woman to the floor roughly, pulling the mattress over them.

Kalin's eyes widened at the announcement, "What!? But the floor's dirty! Ah!" She yipped as she was forcefully pulled down, ruining that very expensive vest she had just gotten. However, her priorities were rearranged when she felt the very ground shake and tilt. Heavy wooden sticks pounded the mattress as the roof collapsed, one of them landing on Kalin's exposed ankle and nearly breaking it.

Norm grinned widely as the truck that was no on the street on the other side of the house started making its way back to the barracks. He approached the rubble of the destroyed building and took out a revolver, ornate with visages of gargoyles and Muses. Making sure it was loaded, he began to kick the wooden beams and rubble aside, keeping the gun outstretched just in case. He wished those rookies would hurry up polishing his claws, it was moments like these that he needed them.

She held the mattress over them, even after everything stopped moving, the sound of thing still slightly moving around them, but the ground stopped moving. She let out a low and quiet grunt and then nudge the other. "you okay?" she asked in a quiet whisper. "Don't move, and keep quiet."

Elizabeth had climbed up a bit higher on the pile of rubble, to get a better view of everything around. She had her white pistol in her hand, it almost looked as if it had been made from ivory and was probably more for show than for using. She kept looking around then noticed something odd, a bit of mattress stuck out from the rubble, but it seemed curved, even under the weight of the pieces of roof that lay over it. "Sir,' she said simply, pointing over to it.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Kalin grunted, breathing heavily at the pain that came from her ankle. Her fists tightened and she grunted once more, biting down on her hand in an effort to feel better. Though, her attention was soon drawn upwards as the mattress was removed from them.

Norm aimed his pistol down at the pair, pulling back the hammer. He aimed it at the girl with the corset on, who bore a strong ressemblance to her father.
"Ms. Ou Clair, I believe you have been cornered." He announced with a hint of pride in his stern, lecturing voice. Norm glanced over at Kalin, "And while indulging in the pleasures of a man who is not rightfully yours, I see." Norm teased, "I always thought Ou Clair's daughter would be a bit educated. But I see I am wrong." Norm took a few steps back and ordered the soldiers to tie up and transport the two women.

As two of the soldiers walked towards them, her hand quickly went to her belt. In a flash, her pistol was in her hand and she fired, getting on square in the face before getting the other one as well, both falling to the ground. She stood up and pointed her gun towards Norm. "Who the hell are you and what do you want with me? And how do you know my father?" She was angry. Her father told her that some really horrible people called him Our Clair or Ou Clair which meant 'In Light'.

Elizabeth raised her pistol to the females that were under the mattress and smirked at the thought of Ou Clair's daughter being nothing but a little skank. "You even think of shooting little girl, and I'll take off your hand," she said tightening her grip on the gun.

Norm's aim wavered slightly as she threatened him. His eyebrows knit together and he bravely took a step forwards, "That is not your place to ask. Now you will submit peacefully lest I have to kill both you and your very obviously homosexual mate." He hissed, glaring at Kalin with disdain. They disgusted him, the fools. Thinking they had some sort of choice on whether they could be with a person of their own sex or not. If he were a Muse, Norm would have had all of them die upon birth.

Kalin bit her lip and slowly rose, tossing her gun aside and raising her hands. The last thing she wanted to be was dead. Though, she was terribly irritated by the comment, "I'll have you know that I am a man." She growled, attempting to keep the lie up.

"I'll go quietly...if you answer my questions that is. If not, I'll kill myself, obviously you need me for something, or you would have just killed me on the spot," she said lowering her gun just a little. She definitely Ou Clair's daughter, just as stubborn and not one who would give in easily or would give in only on their terms. It was obvious that she wasn't going to give in until she got what she wanted.

Elizabeth didn't like this girl one bit, she was ignorant and talked out of turn, like she didn't know her place. It disgusted her. And the other, she still was wondering if the person was gender confused or was just trying to get what they wanted. She knew that women weren't allowed to drink and they had come across a few who dressed as men to get the, in her opinion, vile drink.

Norm growled softly, "I will tell you nothing, you may as well just shoot yourself now." He said, calling her bluff.
"Are you all just going to sit there!?" He hissed at the soldiers standing several feet away. At his words, they instantly raised their rifles and closed in on Norm's sides, flanking the Ou Clair Girl. Norm's finger slid into the trigger of his pistol.

Kalin slid out from under the mattress, rising and wincing painfully at the sensation that came from her ankle. Unable to find her gun under the rubble, she began to slowly attempt to make a quiet exit. She just hoped that powerful looking woman next to Norm wouldn't notice him. Those spectacles made her look all the more hawk-like.

She put her own gun up to her head. "All the knowledge on robotics and the plans for plasma weapons my father design die with me. ALL OF IT. There is no notebook you'll find, no records on any of it. It's valuable information that any organization wants, information that would bring a lot of power. I can draw up any of the blueprints from memory because he had me study them. Do you want to loose that?" She asked, standing there with her finger on the trigger held to her temple. What they didn't know is that she had two settings on the gun, one that was lethal, and one that shot out a blood colored pellet that bursts on contact.

"Stop right there. If you think you're going anywhere you're mistaken," Elizabeth said in the direction of the other. Two guards were quickly on her, blocking her path.

Norm's eyebrow raised to a remarkable point as he judged her. A long moment passed before he finally lowered his aim, "We are working for an organization called LORETech. They ordered us to occupy this city and round up the inhabitants. That is all I know." He said, though kept his aim at her legs just in case. The jittery soldiers quickly approached her, attempting to wrestle the gun out of her hand.

Kalin raised her hands defensively and smiled unevenly, "Huh? What are you talking about? Oh! You think I'm with her? Oh no, I assure you, this is all a grave misunderstanding." She chuckled uneasily and picked up her Bogart from the ground, dusting it off before fitting the hat over her head.

"Let them go. Your thugs came into my store while I was consulting with a customer. Couldn't exactly kick them out and have them fend for themself," She said as she tightened her finger on the trigger as the guards came closer. "Stay back or I pull," She said glaring at the men who neared her. "Put your weapons down and I'll put mine down. I said I'll go quietly if you answer my questions. How do you know my father?" she asked, turning her attention back to Norm.

"We need as many people we can get. Why should we let this one go?" She asked glaring from Summer to Kalin. The men kept blocking the way, looking down at Kalin with a look as if they planned to hurt her if she decided to act up.

They slowly retreated back to Norm's side. Norm was growing quite impatient and had actually considered shooting her once or twice just to get it over with. He slowly lowered his pistol and slid it into its ornate holster.
"I was a bounty hunter long ago, and I was hired to find your father. He defeated me, the amount of times he did is innumerable." He glanced to Elizabeth, "Put your weapon down." He ordered to his right hand.

"Because I'm quite charming and plenty of women would miss me if you didn't let me go." Kalin chuckled uneasily, trying her best to get away, "Would you like me to beg?"

Elizabeth lowered her gun as did the two blocking the path of Kalin. She glared at both of them in anger.

Summer lowered her weapon as well. "Alright then. I'll come quietly as agreed." she said as she put her gun in the loop behind her belt and put her hands up to show that nothing was in the. "One last thing. You let'm go, I'm sure one less will be no loss with the information that you'll be getting." She had been doing it to protect Kalin the whole time. She would feel guilty if something happened to someone else because of her, especially if it were something as bad as death.

They were escorted towards one of the many metal trucks. Soon enough, they were covered from all sides and the hatch closed with a loud clang!, surrounding them in darkness. Kalin sighed and tried to look at her hands through the dark, "So uh... Yeah. Who was your dad, anyways?" She looked in the general direction of Summer, holding her arm to make sure the woman was there. Kalin absolutely detested talking to herself. Why, it reminded her on one occasion that she was so insanely bored that she began speaking to her dim-witted dog. That wasn't one of her best days. Especially the part where she began kissing him after having too much whiskey.

Norm huffed in anger but soon calmed down, "Such deplorable women. They are rather suited for each other, no? One doesn't know her place and the other is confused about her gender. Whatever happened to asylums? Weren't we supposed to round up these individuals and toss them in there?" He shook his head, but soon let the topic go, "Elizabeth, you are relieved. Tomorrow morning we will mobilize half of our forced to the LORETech facility and work there as security guards. Bring the power armor as well, our employers say we will need all the help we can get."

Summer shook her head in the dark and kept her eyes down. "I knew he was an inventor, but not much other than that. He said that he quit his job somewhere so that he could live with my mother and myself and tinker all he wanted. I didn't know about anything in his past from before I was a little kid. I had an accident when I was really young, I think I had tagged along with him to work one day and I fell. I don't remember really," she said letting out a slow sigh.

Elizabeth nodded and took off her glassed. She bowed her head a little and looked up to him. "Yes, Sir," she said and then walked off to relax for the rest of the night.

Kalin yipped as the truck's tires jumped over a rock. After about two hours they slowed to a stop at a very low, square structure mostly made of modern building materials. Two smokestacks belched black smoke into the sky and guards surrounded the structure. Guiding endless lines of men women and children into the facility.
"Do you think the Emperor knows about this?" Kalin asked, knowing that Summer was the more enlightened of the two. Kalin's education was restricted to what she learned from the deplorable types on the streets of the city. Those who tricked others with playing card illusions and stole them out of their money.

Night came and Norm was writing in his diary. Penning the last few lines, he turned off the lamp by his desk and allowed the ink to dry. He heard footsteps by his bedroom, "Elizabeth, come in." He said impatiently, his hands shifting through the books inside the bag he usually carried on his person when moving to a new base.

She kept her eyes forwards as they were ushered in. "I have a feeling he knows. HE was probably bullied into letting it happen. Blackmail works on everyone, whether if it's about something true or not," She said in a hushed tone. She looked to the others being brought in once they entered and watched as they were separated into groups depending on their race. "Looks like we're about to get split up," She said in a hushed tone.

She opened the door slowly. "Sir, those two girls are here. Do you want the one we need separated from the rest of the subjects to get the information from her?" She asked as she stepped into the room and looked at him.

Kalin sighed, looking at the other people from the Eastern Continent. With their dark skin and exotic hair colors. It was easy to separate them from the rest. Though, curiously enough, Kalin and Summer were guided down a different hall than the rest. Guided by two soldiers, soon the halls grew silent. Only interrupted by the clicking and hissing of the power armor both soldiers wore. One of them advanced towards a metal door and opened it, revealing a room with naught but two chairs inside of it. Stiff wooden chairs.
Kalin swallowed, "Do we get a radio?" She smiled unevenly.

"We can use the other one to coax her. It's evident that Du Clair doesn't want to drag anyone else into this." Norm pulled out a fantasy novel and set it on his nightstand before beginning to move out of the room.
"Elizabeth, what are you doing after this job?" He asked as he headed down the hall with her.

Summer looked to the men who nodded in the room before nearly pushing them both in. They closed the door behind them and stood in front of it, blocking the way out. "Sit," one of them ordered gruffly, nodding towards the chairs. Summer went over and sat down in the chair, crossing her legs and putting her hands in her lap, sitting up straight. She motioned for Kalin to follow. "Best we do as they say for now," she said simply in a hushed tone.

Elizabeth seemed to go into thought for a moment. "Sir, I really haven't thought of it. There aren't many decent occupations for women these days, and even fewer that I am not over qualified for," she said looking back to Norm, pushing her glasses up her nose.
