Royal Reality (Kolath and Selena)

He smiled hugging her back genuinely pleased that she seemed so happy. â??Yes you can pick them out as what you would really want without thinking that you shouldnâ??t wear them because of rank.â? He smiled stepping back and moving over to a door in the wall. He opened in and motioned her to proceed him through it. on the other side was a large room with a large four poster bed, the room and bed were hung with beautiful cloths and tapestries giving a very rich feel to the room. â??This will be your room, if there is anything else you need feel free to ask.â?

Selena couldn't believe her eyes. The room was just so beautiful and wonderful. "T..this room is so beautiful! I do not even deserve it!" She said, thinking this was all a dream. She walked up to the four poster bed, laying her hand on the beautiful wood finish. Her eyes swept over the floor, its beautiful and intricate design making her awe. She turned around to face him. "Thank you, your highness!" she replied, finding it so hard to beleve that he was giving her such beautiful and awesome earthly materials. She sighed slightly, in disbelief. The thought of her mother entered her mind though. "You treated my mother with this much respect and dignity, didn't you?" she asked softly, an innocent and happy tone to her voice.

He nodded slowly walking over to stand just next to her enjoying her looking around in awe. â??I did treat her just this way though she refused the quarters because of you. I couldnâ??t move you both in here and she wished to stay near to you so she refused.â? He shrugged slightly walking around and brushing his finger over one of the dressers. â??Though she kept it perfect just as she said she would.â? He smiled turning back to the adjoining door. â??I will give you a moment alone since your mother spent a large amount of time in here.â? He went to close the door and leave her alone.

"Thank you, your highness," she replied softly. Selena's eyes followed him out before returning their gaze on the room. She walked up to the large window, looking out at the beautiful afternoon sky. She rested her arms on the windowsill, sighing a bit. "Mother...its such a relief to know that he treated you with the same kindness and respect that he's shown me thus far," she said, as if talking to her mother who was in the heavenly realms within the clouds of that afternoon sky. "You deserved this kind of treatment, and so much more. You were the best mother a girl could ever wish for." she said, one arm moved up to her face to wipe her misty eyes.

Knowing that her mother was treated respectfully made her heart leap for joy. The secular riches weren't even near as important than the knowledge of her mother.

Selena then walked over to the bed, sitting on the edge.

Fryan closed the door and quickly went over to his writing desk and began a letter he had been meaning to write for some time. He worked swiftly making sure to use the style he had chosen for the black fox. Finally he pressed the letter closed and pulling a right from his belt he sealed it. the seal was not the normal royal family seal but a mark that was commonly known as that of the black fox. He thought about how to deliver it and for a moment considered asking his knew personal servant to take in but thought better of it. though he had come to trust her mother this girl still had to prove herself to him before he trusted her with his secret. Finally he decided he would take it himself as he had for awhile now since his right hand man died.

Selena sighed contently, feeling very blessed that she wasn't one of Fryan's other brothers' personal servants. This day was the happiest one that Selena had since her mother had died. She fell into the bed comfortably, a sleepy smile on her face. The bed was far too soft, and Selena had such an interesting and eye-opening day....Selena fell asleep, enjoying an afternoon nap. Being a servant, she hadn't ever done this- and boy did it feel good!

As she slept, Selena drempt a very odd dream in which she was a queen over all the land. The dream was short and abuptly stopped with she heard the hoot of an owl from the window. As she awoke to the owl's nocturnal song, she realized it was now early evening. A sense of shock came over her as she just realized she had slept through the whole afternoon! She ran into Fryan's room, eager to apologize.

Fryan had checked in on her seeing her asleep and quickly left. he had to drop this message off and be back before she woke. Slipping out the secret passage again he donned his disguise and rushed into the night air. Slipping through the forest he made his way quickly to the nearby town. Going to the back of one of the taverns there he waited for the tavern keeperâ??s daughter to come out. It wasnâ??t long before she did, seeing him she gasped then sighed, â??You always scare me and I was about to scream.â? he smiled holding out the note. â??That is a good thing you should always be on guard I would never want anything to happen to you.â? He said softly before disappearing into the night again hurrying back.

He made it to his room and was closing the passage way when he heard the door open and Selena hurrying in to his room. Turning he prayed that the passage closed and did so quickly. â??Rest well?â?

Selena came into his room, half suprised at what he was asking her. She was just about to apologize, but she now had to refocus her thoughts. "Oh! Um, yes, of course I slept well!" she replied, "I'm awefully sorry I slept, your highness...I should have been awake for you!" she stated in a guilty tone, her head hung down as if in shame.

Before Fryan had time to reply to her, a guard gently knocked at the door before coming in. The guard was armored almost like a knight, a large sword sheath held at his hilt. He held his helment in one hand, while his other rested on his sword's handle. The guard gave Selena a split-second glare before turning to Fryan. "Sir, your father wishes to speak to you and your servant. I'm unsure of why the servant has been invited, but I'm sorry to say he isn't in his best mood at the moment. Something about a secret society or whatnot. I implore that you and your servant go to the King at once." he spoke, as if Selena wasn't even in the room. Selena felt terrible about this ordeal, unsure, but whatever it was, it didn't sound or feel good at all.

Fryan stood there glaring at the soldier before walking over the Selena and offering his arm to her. â??Come my father requests our presence.â? He walked to the door with her before turning to look at the soldier who was still kneeling since he had not been told to raise. â??You will never treat a lady with that disrespect again or I will kill you myself.â? He pushed past the door with Selena and started for the throne room.

Turning to Selena he sighed, â??Forgive him he is not used to my ways.â? He sighed again and continued walking. It worried him, since he knew that his father already knew of his group of rebels but he paid them no mind what was this secret society that this was about.

Selena took her arm in his cautiously, almost feeling out of place. She felt as if she was standing where a noble's lady should stand, or a princess or something of that nature. Not her, a stupid little servant. A sigh escaped Selena's lips as she looked up to him. "Your highness, please...do not kill him..." she begged Fryan, "All he did was give me an odd look, that's all..." she replied, not wanting to see someone die because of her. She couldn't help but like the feeling she was being protected by him- it made her feel absolutely amazing.

They arrived at the King's door, and Fryan knocked twice. Selena was unsure why she was invited along, which was beginning to make her rather nervous.

Fryan didnâ??t wait after knocking just pushing the door in. his father was standing behind a table with half a dozen of his advisers standing around. there almost seemed to be a cloud of doom hanging over the group as the two walked in. grumbling could be heard from all sides and Fryan walked in with his servant on his arm like a court lady rather than the serving girl they all though her as. Fryan held his head high as he walked up to the table encouraging Selena to stay with him. â??You summoned me Father?â?

The king glanced up at them glaring from one to the other. â??Yesâ?¦Son when I called the two of you I meant for her to remain outside till we called for her.â? he motioned for her to leave but Fryan held her arm lightly but firmly. â??She is going to stay because she needs to learn my desires so she can become a good personal servant.â? He said it that way but was not happy about the last few words wishing they didnâ??t have to be said.

His Father looked like he was about to yell at him but then shrugged, â??Fine. But we have much to discus.â? He sighed turning to the map, â??not only do we have the blasted rebels of the black fox at our heels we seem to have sprouted a new group.â? He pointed to a spot on the made, â??The order of the black dragon, they had sworn to over throw our kingdom and bring peace. A stupid idea since the are run by a well known crime lord. Fortunately we know where they are, I want you to go take care of them wipe them out totally.â? He smiled at his son patting his shoulder, â??There is something else we need you to doâ?¦we need to be sure that your new personal servant isnâ??t a spy for them they always have a brand on their body somewhere soâ?¦â?The king smirked lecherously at Selena, â??We need to do a strip search of her.â? there were chuckles all around except fro Fryan who looked disgusted at the suggestion.

Selena wanted to pull away from him and run out of the room. Those advisors...the looks they passed her way, the way they held themselves, their evil laughs...and that king...that man who was given too much power, and used it for himself rather than for the good of his kingdom...it scared her and made her angry on the inside. She tried her best to hold her feelings, her arm softly intertwined with his. If he would let go, she'd surely run out of the room, at least that's what she thought. She glanced up at Fryan. He seemed to hold his head the same way his father did, but...it was different. Fryan had good intentions, and he was proud of it. His father was the total opposite- though both were proud.

When the king called him forward, Selena tried to stay back, but Fryan's strong arm wouldn't allow that to happen. She felt as if she committed a crime by coming in the room, and the king's opinionated words only intensified that feeling. Fryan's words rung in her ears over and over again. ...so she can become a good personal servant...

She listened to the king discuss the black fox rebels, trying to take mental notes in her mind. When the king said that they would have to do a strip search of her, her face ran white. "What?! No! That's not fair!" she begged the king, "Please, your highness!" she asked, her eyes welling up with tears. They knew she had been within the castle since her birth, being a servant of the royal family her whole life. There was no possible way she could be a spy of the black fox. They just wanted to use her for their own personal exnjoyment, which disgusted her.

Fryan growled and stepped between his father and Selena. â??Father contain yourself I know what you are doing this is just a sick game to you and I will not have it done to my personal Servant.â? He stepped forward using the few inches he hand on his father to look down at the king, â??Is mother not letting you into her bed enough that you must sate your passion with another?â? he knew the truth as did everyone else in the room the queen hadnâ??t let the king into her chambers in years.

Fryan turned taking Selena by the arm and leading her out of the room heading back to his own. He was glad that there had been a new group of rebels that cropped up to take the attention away from his band, now he just needed to move the right troops to allow his men to make certain moves to improve their position. He quickly headed back to his room not pulled but holding Selenaâ??s hand as he walked stopping only if she did.

Selena sighed out of relief as they exited the room, this time glad to be on Fryan's arm. She closed her eyes, glad to be out of that situation. She turned to Fryan as they walked down the corridor. "Um...thank you, your highness. I really appreciate what you did for me back there." She replied, a bit out of disbelief. She was more worried about what the king would do to her for talking out like that without permission earlier. She never would've thought that a royal family member would have stood up for her like that, let alone standing up to the king. She now knew that the king would always consider her on his bad side.

Her face showed the troublesome thoughts she was mulling over, an almost sad look to her face. She shook her head, trying to forget the thoughts. "Sorry, your majesty. May I get you anything?" she asked him habitually, being the servant she was.

He growled slamming the door behind them resting his head against the solid oak. â??No thank you Selena, I canâ??t believe my father would do that.â? He slammed his fist into the door with a soft pop he felt a bone in his hand dislocate. Biting his lips he went over to the bed sitting down on it holding his injured hand. â??I am sorry Selena that is not the way that any man of breeding should act.â? He sighed gently testing his hand softly he winced as he hit the hurt bone.
